This scanner is incredible. I recently found several boxes of family slide pictures from the '70s. I needed a scanner and bought this one. The scanning quality is great and printing photos from it even better. It's easy to use...which is great for me. So far everything I have scanned, whether a slide, photo or picture on line has been great.

I consider this adapter a necessity for the printer. Printer works great and adapter allows faster printing in hotel rooms. Worth the price, and easy to carry in my carryon case.

I have had this scanner for a few months, and have used it for prints, negatives, and slides. I am scanning a lot of old pictures, many of which have faded considerably. Given the number of items I need to scan, I do not want to spend a lot of time adjusting the color for each one. Fortunately, the ScanGear driver does an excellent job of restoring faded prints and slides. In many cases, the scanned result is much better than the original, and it is largely handled automatically. It can't fix everything, though, I have bunch of old EktaChrome slides that are very faded, and while they were improved, they still come out faded red.

I have used this product before and it is very useful, especially to scan large stacks of papers at once. It has many scan modes 600 dpi, 400 dpi, 300 dpi, 200 dpi which are very useful. It also scan to pdf which is a great way to store documents. I like using the built in software in the device: you don't have to install software, you can choose to use the software that runs on the device when you plug it in. The only issue was it is a bit slow when scanning at 600dpi and 400dpi speeds, which scan at the same speed about 45-50 seconds seconds. But most of the competitors scan speeds were about that range, maybe one at 30 seconds for 600dpi. The 300dpi scan is much faster, and for most purposes, 300 dpi is good for documentation.(The reviewer was compensated for posting this review. The 9000F had good reviews which led me to buy it. I am extremely pleased with it so far. I haven't gotten into advanced uses yet, but for picture and document scanning, it appears to do an outstanding job. I haven't played with the other features yet but will in the future.

This case fit snug around the scanner and makes it easy to carry the scanner and cords. Small padded divider inside the case keeps cords neat. Only necessary to buy case if you plan on porting your scanner around.

Love it! I have around 1400 old slides from the 70s/80s I needed to scan. I've scanned around 800 so far and have had no problems (I'm using a MacBook Pro).I'm averaging about 20 minutes for every 4 slides (I have the dust/spec removal feature turned on).I did my research, and when I compared quality, speed, and price this scanner was the best "bang for your buck".

I bought this scanner for my at home office, but as it turns out the quality is excellent and I have scanned and downloaded hundreds of old photographs where the negative have been lost. I highly recommend this item. I have been more than pleased.

This was the first time that I have purchased anything on line let alone from an overseas company. I was very impressed with the professional way in which Amazon went through the process. It made me feel at ease. The product was exactly what I thought it would be. The whole experience has made me want to use Amazon again when next I need to purchase an item.

Great scanner. Canon needs to work on additional software to make it more user friendly for scanning receipts and cards into Mac compatible software. I am sure they are working on it. These software may already be available to download, but I am not aware of them. However, don't let this discourage you from buying this scanner.

We recently turned our home office paperless. I was able to scan all our bills and documents using this scanner while under the covers in bed!The things I don't like about it is that I cannot completely scan those extra long receipts that you get when you make several purchases at once. Also the scanner uses two ports on my laptop which only has three!There is no output tray and in order to properly store away the device you must always disconnect that little document separater thing, which can easily get lost in a house with kids.Apart from this, I would recommend this scanner, as you can instantly hook it up to any computer and begin scanning with out the need to install any software.

Simply awesome. If you're looking for a portable scanner, this is it. It's small, easy to set up and scans directly to pdf. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

I got the AC adapter for the p-150. It looks nothing like the picture shown with the Amazon product description so I posted a couple photos of an actual AC adapter here. In general, the adapter is compact in size and, to me, preferable to having to rely on two USB cables to provide power for maximum scan speed.Not sure if it will fit in the canon case for the scantini, as I do not have the case.03/24/2012 - I now have the case for the scantini and YES, the AC adapter fits very well in the canon case...along with the USB cables.

I spent close to a whole afternoon looking over scanner options, and finally decided on this based on the reviews and close to 20 years of satisfaction with Canon products. It's great! And the software is an improvement over the Lide 210 interface.

I have, or rather had, thousands of photos that I've been scanning into my computer via Photoshop. I've been using an HP all in one scanner I bought at Costco for $77 dollars. It does a good job, the HP does, but it's slow slow.So when I got an opportunity to review this, I jumped at it. First off, this scanner is not slow. It's very fast, I couldn't believe how fast I was zipping through my photos. I spent a couple weeks, four hours a day and now I'm done. Plus, the resolution is outstanding and the colors are true to my images. You can't ask for much more than that from a scanner.Also, as an added bonus, this scanner comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements, a very good imagine program for both Macs and PCs. The scanner also comes with a film guide mount, which I tried and it worked great, but scanning the images into Photoshop takes quite a bit longer from film. All in all, for the price, I don't think you can beat this solid performing scanner.Only problem is, now that I have all my photos scanned, I don't have much use for it. The machine is so good, so fast, that it put itself out of business on my desk. Still, every now and then I'll need to scan something and it's comforting to know that it's sitting there, like an old friend, waiting to be used again.

I purchased this scanner for school work. I am a high school math teacher and I wanted to put solutions to the homework problems up on the internet (Moodle). I can effortlessly do this now that I have this awesome little scanner. I had to install the software that came with it so that the scanner would work with my Macbook Pro laptop. It was a breeze. I was up and running 30 minutes out of the box. The scanner is quick and clear. I save all documents as pdfs and upload them onto the web. I wish I had bought this item sooner. It has made my life soooo much easier and the kids in class love that I not only post up homework but that I also post up class notes, etc. A real time saver (and paper saver) for everyone! I am now officially a Math Rockstar!For personal use I can now scan all utility bills, receipts, etc and keep an electronic folder instead of a box full of papers.**bottom line** - the scanner was well worth the money for it's small compact size, ease of use and making my life a lot easier. Awesome product.

I use this scanner for home, mostly for scanning old negs from my parents (1940s thru 1980s). This purpose has exceeded my expectations- this machine has allowed me to take all my families photographic history and bring it into the digital 21st century. High resolution, clear scans of 35mm and medium format negatives, also has scanned photos 8 x 10 thru 1 inch square with great results. Fast and easy, I would by another one...

I have a lot of old 35mm slides that I wanted to make electronic copies. The Canon CanoScan 9000F performance was very good in doing this. Pictures are very clear and the default settings worked just fine. It accepts up to 4 slides per scan. The scan duration for 1200 dpi measured about 90 seconds per four slides. Once imported the user can then adjust the color, tone, etc.

I have 2 MFPs, one with a flat bed, the other with a sheet feeder/fax scanner, but the printer drivers have gone south, so on my Desktop, which still runs XP in contrast to my Lappy with Win7, I am trying to set up this scanner for a past eBay sale, which I neglected to supply some documentation.At this point I am just trying to recall my experiences with the scanner.It was pricey when I bought it at about one hundred seventy dollars at the membership club based near Seattle. The software it came with was fairly extensive compared to the Microtec parallel based scanner I used previous, but this last one retailed for less than seventy dollars.The lid is supremely dented, I don't think it is aluminum like my Acer lappy, but is painted but thin stainless steel. I recall hardly ever using it because the setup process in a very cramped area for a standalone scanner didn't seem to make worth it. However, the few scans I did make seemed pretty good. An interesting feature is a "lock" to prevent movement of the element.====hey, it still works...that is on an XP media center pc with sp3, the software is too clunky...it is super slow...i think it is still usb 1.1 with a slow movement of the element or platen, not too bad for a 10 y.o. purchaseAfter I reset up this scanner I will report my experiences!

I have a Nikon Coolscan III that I love, but haven't used for years. I've upgraded my Mac several times but found I couldn't use it because of the SCSI cable. Tried SCSI adapters and everything but nothing worked. Never thought a flatbed scanner could come close to a dedicated film scanner but I needed to scan a cigar box full of Kodachrome slides my father took during his service in the Korean war, I bought the Canon 9000F through Amazon because I knew if it disappointed, it could be returned. To my delight, I found the Canon 9000F produced scans just as good my old Nikon. Never considered that technology could have improved so much over the years. I had old tiff files from scans from the Nikon, still had the original color slides and compared the two. They were virtually identical. I use Photoshop for post scan work because automatic Dust & Scratch removal in Ice removed too much detail. And the Canon is much faster, both in warm up and scan time. A new Nikon is 10 times the price of the Canon. Easy decision!

This scanner is the best scanner I've ever used. The technology behind it is awesome. The design is very portable, it can scan directly to evernote, and the feeder even tries ti self correct. Even when I do feed the paper wrong it scans it the best it can. It detects and compensates for different size paper and slight tilts in the feed. Only one flaw... It can't do multiple pages. I scan magazine pages and business card and it can't handle a stack of either. You have to go one sheet at a time. This might not be true for regular paper. Despite this I love the scanner it's fricken fast and scans both sides. It's totally made my scanning easier. Even a t one page at a time.

I'm thrilled with this scanner. I was looking for something that would make my life easier, and I found it! I'm going paperless... this makes it easy and relatively painless. I just push the button. Pages scan quickly, and effortlessly. Just need to save it as a PDF and it's done. It scans simplex (one side), duplex, or skips blank pages. I'm a Mac girl, and initially I was concerned because the scanner I purchased didn't come with the Mac software. It didn't matter. I just connect it to my macbook pro with the USB cables provided, and push the start button on the machine... then voila! It scans business cards, deposit slips, and self adjusts the angle, if it didn't scan straight. Scantini is small, compact and smart looking. Bravo Canon!!

I use scanners to digitize ink, pencil, and occasionally color artwork on an amateur level. Long ago, I had an HP scanner for which I could find no equal. It worked buggily with XP, however, and other, newer HP scanners had a slew of problems.I didn't know about switching to Canon, but I can tell you it was a great decision. This thing is even better than that HP I used so many years ago. Its scans are crisp, its interface is easy to use and robust, and it plays well with the software I use -- no using propriety software first to save an image, and THEN open it up in the editor you use (GIMP for me).It is also the quietest scanner I've ever had. Add in the fact that it only has one cable and no power supply other than the USB, and you are really onto something good. My dinosaur of a PC isn't rated for USB2.0, either, so don't worry if yours isn't. The scanner is also thin and light and easily moved about. The Z-lid works a lot better that some of those other contraptions I've seen on them, too.If you don't want to spend over $100 on a scanner, this is the one for you.

This scanner is excellent for scanning low profile 3d objects. It has a good depth of field to pick up detail and dimension without blurriness. I love this scanner. Unfortunately the company has not updated it to work with mac osx so if you have a newer mac don't get this scanner.Comes with good photo editing software. Easy to use without being so simple it loses functionality. I used this scanner for years to scan jewelry for my catalog. No one believed me that it was all done with a scanner.I will miss mine. Had to switch to Epson perfection v30. Also good, very similar to this one

For the price this is an excellent scanner.Pro: Easy to set up, easy to use.Cons: A little large for a desktop, should have SilverFast SE or Plus included in the package. PhotoShop Elements is not efficient enought for the scanner.

I have thousands of color slides, mostly the Sierra's, that have blue skies, granite, and lakes. The blue in the sky and lakes is not a correct blue. The corrections I made to the scanned product in Advanced Mode was only partially successful. Even if it was successful I do not have the time to edit the large number of images I have. The most important feature of a photographic scanner is the quality of the image. In this instance this scanner has failed. Also, I have tried three times to contact Canon about purchasing an extra Film Negative Tray and they have not responded back. I am sending it back.

Good points:--Small, I can easily carry it to and from work--Acts in stand-alone mode (no drivers required)--Fast, quiet, duplexes--"Skip blank page" works fine--Feeds almost anything. I'm archiving family records now--feeds almost anything up to 100-year-old letters, card stock, stacks of photos.--TWAIN and ISIS drivers, that the Fujitsu does not have--Paper path is less angled than an all-in-one ADF's 180 degrees.--Easy to clear paper jam--Deskew generally works, but not always. I scan a stack of veiably-sized items, so I often do not use the paper guides. It's pretty gppd about keeping things straight.Bad points:--Does not like onionskin paper--Takes 2 USB ports unless I want to pay $35 for an AC adapter--Black-and-white (1 bit) mode does not really like anything except crisp black test. Typewritten text, of which I have reams, does not come in well, I scan in grayscale or color. Have not played with the sensitivity--No output tray--I'm not at all pleased with the quality of scanned photos, but I suppose that's to be expected. I have an Epson Perfection for that.--Scanner software will handle only a few variations. Button can be assigned only to one--Will only scan to 14" longHave not tried OCRI like it. I'm glad I bought it.

I had this scanner for a few days and had to have it returned because many of the scanned images were skewed which the deskew option could not correct. The degree of skew translates to one edge of an A4-size scan being about 0.5 cm (0.2 inch) higher than the other, viewed portrait-wise. Canon service explained that this was considered within limits but it wasn't for me.Where there was skew, it was observed that the document being scanned would roll off the two paper guides in the feeder during the scan process.Skew was more apparent under the following circumstances:- scanning full-sized documents e.g. A4 paper,- scanning thin documents,- scanning creased documents,- single sheet scanning.How does the Canon P-150 compare with its main competitor the Fujitsu S300? I also have some experience with the latter unit. The S300 images don't skew noticeably. It is also slightly cheaper. In most other aspects Canon is superior: faster, lighter, smaller, more streamlined, has Twain/ISIS drivers and requires only one USB cable to operate (Fujitsu requires two USBs, or one USB plus a cable from a separate power adapter). Bottomline: go for Canon if you can tolerate the skew.Why only two stars? For me scan quality overrides everything else. All other features are secondary.

relatively good quality considering the purchase price (+/-$45.00) It is easy to use. Had some issues with setting it up on my pc (win XP) which I found strange; but besides some minor issues, it has good/average scanning quality. Do not expect professional quality scans from this machine. Although the settings can be changed to achieve greater scanner resolution, it takes forever to scan a letter size document, and the end result is really not worth the output.

I have had this scanner since 2001. Worked great with Windows 2000, would not work with Windows XP. Finally found it (a) needed an ASPI Layer "fix" from Adaptec for the SCSI card, (b) updated software to version 3.6.4, and (c) had to be run in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. Worked great again ... until I recently upgraded computer (but still using XP-Pro). Now, no matter what I do, I cannot get it to see the SCSI card (despite all the "fixes" that worked before). There are many complaints in forums about Canon failing to provide updated drivers etc. that may be needed to get the 2710 to work with XP/Vista (and Windows 7 is now here). Yet, Canon says "We apologize for any inconvenience" then "If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know." Sorry Canon, that is double talk flappy lip service. I and many others HAVE let you know! WE WANT UPDATED DRIVERS/SOFTWARE for this otherwise usable scanner. What does it take to get Canon to pay attention to your customers? And, for those who are tempted to try the VueScan solution, I assert you should not bother. The scanning resolution offered does not utilize the full resolution of the 2710, it attempts auto exposure/contrast with terrible results, and it attempts auto cropping, again with inconsistent results and some crops excluding parts of the photo, yet no way to relocate the cropping boundaries. The Canon software, when it works, is so much superior that the VueScan is not worth the bother.

I shot slides for 20 years before I purchased a DSLR. I have approx. 10,000 slides with no way to show them unless someone came to my home and I set up the slide projector. With the 9000F,I am transfering selected slides to my computer and don't seem to get any loss of quality. I can correct copies of slides now, including making old slides that may have faded, look like new again. And the scanner comes with Photoshop Elements 8. It is a flatbed scanner that will also copy negative film. I have made up to 16 X 20 prints with no loss of quality. A great machine.

This scanner is excellent. It scans a group of papers all together, both sides, creates a searchable PDF (OCRs it), and is amazingly fast. The only downsides: (1) The Evernote web site says that the software comes with scan-directly-into-Evernote feature, but it did not -- I had to dig around on the internet to find the latest version of the scan software that does include the scan-to-evernote feature (but once I found it, it does work), (2) It was tricky figuring out how to insert a group a pages so they came out in the right order and right orientation.

The scanner works just great - terrific images. The Canon scanning software that comes with it - terrible user interface. Too many features having nothing to do with just running the scanner. I don't need a picture organizer; I have iPhoto for this. Push the button on the front panel and the menus jump around on their own quite mysteriously. Ugh. Who designed this junk code? Five stars for the hardware; none for the software.Follow-up on the software. As it turns out, if you install the included Photoshop Elements, the operability is quite nice. I'd still avoid the Canon software except for installing the drivers.

I don't usually write reviews but this device only has a handful of reviews and deserves more for how well-designed it is. It works quietly and quickly, and the included software works well, especially in combination with novaPDF. No time needed for warm-up. The footprint is tiny and the device is small and light enough to bring on the road. A few sheets have come through skewed, but I just ran them again and the problem was easily fixed. I would have given 4.5 stars because of this, but don't mind rounding up to 5. Great for keeping copies of important documents; wish I had taken the plunge earlier.

Tiny and light with attractive and clever design features (this has to be the prettiest scanner you will ever buy), fast enough even on one USB connection, and best of all nearly SILENT compared to my all-in-one printer. I especially appreciate that the pieces that wear out first are designed as consumables (instead of how another major brand is designed, where they assume you are going to replace your entire scanner once the sheet feeder wears out). The output quality is also far better than my circa 2005 all-in-one from another maker, which I don't really understand as they are both scanning at 600 dpi, but there it is.

It is amazing at how fast it is. The only fault is trying to scan receipts from registers. It is difficult to have them feed straight as they keep wanting to go crooked. The light weight receipts need to be fed one at a time. At least that is my experience. Full size documents are a snap.

The last scanner i bought was an HP scanjet flatbed circa 2000. This scanner is much smaller, much faster, just as accurate, more flexible, has better software, and is overall much easier to use. Being portable and running off the USB connector is just a bonus. OH! And it is duplex, which puts it in a whole new league for me. No more flipping to scan both sides of a document, and it automagically deletes any blank back sides. Best of all, it scans jpg's or pdf's directly into Evernote. If you use Evernote, this is the scanner to get.
