After researching the various units and their reviews, I bought this scanner to take aboard ships during inspections and scan copies of ship's documents and logs instead of copying and taking home a half ream of paper.Used with an older Dell Latitude D520 with Win7 32-bit upgrade & Acrobat 9. I installed the provided software bundle but only used the TWAIN driver with Acrobat so can't comment on the bundle or the one-button scan feature. No software issues with the TWAIN, it worked every time.Overall the hardware worked very well. It handled booklet-folded heavy A4 paper, well-worn and curled pages with grease spots and dog-ears, and it even took few sheets that I had forgotten to unstaple without jamming or complaint. I only had a couple of mis- or dual-feeds and one jam but they were easily corrected. I couldn't use the AC adapter on the ship's European-style 220V system (the transformer primary is 110V only) and my laptop is old and a little underpowered (both in electrical power and processing speed) so the scan speed on the ship was slow. It didn't matter though because it took Acrobat so long to optimize and OCR each page that the scan speed wasn't a limiting factor. On the AC adapter back in the office and using my desktop computer it scans easily as quick as the fancy HP multi-function that takes up so much of my desk space, and is even better because it does front/back on a single pass.It seems a little delicate when the opened and unfolded into operating position, but I dropped it onto a hard deck while it was in the carrying case and it seemed to have survived without problem.Overall a very good unit and highly recommended.

My personal scanning needs are simple but even if yours are more complex, the Canon image FORMULA P-150 should be able to satisfy you. Here's why I think that is: it's fast (15 max. ppm; 30 max ipm), quiet, easy to use and set up, compact, TWAIN compliant, produces high quality scans in both b&w and color, batches up to 20 sheets, has 1 pass duplex scanning (i.e., two-sided scanning), and scans a variety of different size documents and images virtually effortlessly.The one factor that causes me to deduct 1/2 star from my rating is that while it is compact, it, at a little over two lbs, is not as lightweight as I expected it to be (given that Canon refers to it as the Scan-tini).Despite this one very minor con, the Canon image FORMULA P-150 is a scanner I'd recommend you consider very seriously.

Ok, so I was debating between this one and scan snap s1300. I was not able to find/try scan snap but I can assure you they make good scanner products. Anyways, decided to go for this one instead because it took more pages, loved the fact that you dont need to load drivers, (just plug that puppy into any computer) and you are ready to go; was a bit smaller, more compact(did not have the slant/incline ending that scan snap has) and the fact that it was black. You can use it for PC and Mac as well as Evernote for both PC and Mac. You also have the option to use the drivers that come w/scanner which basically has more options for scanning and other software goodies. The scaner has a small switch that you can choose between using the plug and play or the other option which is the drivers provided on CD. Anyways, the scanner is small, compact and does a pretty good job scanning. no complaints on the speed. The only thing that I'm not really thrilled about is the glossy/shiny finish to it as you can see the some dust settle on the scanner. For instance, looking at your PC monitor, you will see after a few days dust that has settle on the screen right? Now imagine, if it was shiny. This may not be an issue for some people but it was for me. To remedy this nuisance, i purchased the canon bag and as soon as I'm done, I put it away. Issue resolved.Some people on reviews have talked about using only one usb cable instead of 2 for power. My point on that is that I have not tried whether this is an issue or not. I just plug both usb cables to make sure there are no issues and get the job done. I can't see how anyone can be dissapointed with this scanner. You have to remember: for mobility and on the go use. I use it for bills, contracts for work, tax docs, etc. I dont have a need to scan pictures. sorry.hope this helps.

I have a couple of boxes of greeting cards that I wished to scan. I wasn't sure that this would be able to do it. I opened the box carefully and saved all the packing materials so I could mail it back. I was pleasantly surprised. It does a great job scanning greeting cards. I also put some of my receipts into it and it ran fine. I am very impressed. It's a great little product.

Pros:- USB plug-in, no complicated and multiple cords- Easy to set up and start scanning- Unlike other mobile scanners I've tried, this one can take up to 20 pages at a time- Good image quality on type written documents- It is small and easily fits into my laptop bag. I've also been able to use the USB cord from my Blackberry charger to plug in the scanner - so cuts down on the # of cords to carry- Works fairly quietlyCons:- Although it is small, I found the scanner to be too heavy for a portable unit. It is marketed for "road warriors" and "professionals on the go". I travel every week, and would not want to carry this extra weight around.- I could not get a clear scan on receipts

I have an elevated computer use background. I purchased my CanoScan 9000F from Amazon as this was the best price with shipping. Scanner arrived on time, but wouldn't work. Canon 1-800 phone customer service trouble shooter hotline was the best ever, [chassis lock was the issue]. Canon employee was able to troubleshoot my problem over phone after an hour of elimination. Canon sent a replacement free of charge and free shipping return for the original. The replacement works great out of the box.My complaints are: The starting software is vague. The electronic troubleshooting and instructions didn't cover my issues being flagged. Scanning 35mm film and then transferring to my hard-drive was refused when the file size was large, but no guideline on what size limits the max transfer. Learning how to maneuver from the scanned image past the annoying default file storage location to a preferred storage requires you go to your directory and click down the chain till a new file location can be found for each bundle of images. As in if you want to save 24 images to an external hard drive file you can not lock in a preset for an alternate storage location. Size of scanner takes up lots of desk space.Highlights are: The scanner can sort/split between two or more photos on the platen (glass) to be scanned at one time. Photos can be tossed down as the scanner software rotates to square the image automatically. The images from film can be reversed if you scan film backwards. The three basic software image adjustments are simple. Size makes it able to scan a large photo, etcetera, but the overall size is questionable as is the good and bad of this debate to be able to scan a big sheet. Good price. Canon customer service is excellent.

I bought this scanner about half year ago and I am very satisfied with it: portable, lightweight, working well both on my home PC (Win 7) and Mac Book Air 2011 (Lion). Scanner does not need external power supplies (I use it with only one USB connection). Scanning is fast enough (single-pass both sides scanning), very simple in use and setup, 10 presets for different modes, ... List feeder works fine (I used max about 15 pages), scanning quality is very well for documents (my primary use).

When I first set it up on my Macbook Pro, the software started up but the "start" button was disabled. If you have this problem you have to switch the little "Auto Start" switch on the back of the scanner to "OFF" then unplug the scanner and plug it back in. It took me a little while to find this fix on the web.

This my first ever review. After torgurous researching for months I chose the P-150 for mutiple resaons, but primarily for TWAIN etc compatiblity. Loaded the CD soft ware for the additional options. The p-150 comes with sufficent enbedded basic software for scanning. I prefrerred the Nuance and other software options.I firstly loaded 20 pages with some minor segments of color on a few pages. The first 18 pages of the 20 page scan went through beautifuly without a glich,even with the pages full of wrinkles,creaseses and staple holes,all went throughe whitin 1. minute. It was a baeutiful monment and I have to say that I was so IMPRESSED****I tried varios paper weights and had the same results. No scewwing nor binding as long as the parper quides were used.Please don't hesitate to buy this scanner. It's a dream. At 2.2 lbs, it's amasingly light, yet well built. The document supports and quides seem a bit under developed yet are more then sufficent,It's every thing Canon claims.Please watch the U-TUBE video clips that are available.A dream whether on your desk, beside poolside, road or airport. Perfect for reams of paper or reams of biz cards. Simply the best light wieght scanner[yet office level repformance.]It's also just a beautiful piece of high quality machinery and has become a friend.Don't hesitate. This little wonder can match the larger machines at a fraction of their cost.The scaning options are numerous and many other software features can be added. Evernote is available and a joy to us.My first scan was with 20 B/W pages in the document feeder. The pages were wrinkled, crimmped and with staple holes. The first 18 went through in 1 minute. With no scewwing,binding, overlapping or doublefeeding nor jammimg. I ran those 20 pages 2 more times with the same results.WOW again.

I really can't say too much about the scanner. Although the scanner worked, I never got the software to work on my computer's system. But I can tell you that the seller was very nice and patient w/me trying to get the software to work. The delivery was good and the communication with the seller was great.

I didn't expect so much from this kind of scanner but I am quite happy with the results. I am getting quite good digital copies of my color and black and white negative films as well as of positive color films. As long as the pictures themselves are good you get quite good digital copies of your pictures. I don't have experience with more sophisticated and expensive scanners but what I get with this one is enough for me. I would strongly recommend it.

Waste of money! The load time for a single scan takes approximately 2 minutes. Why? I have no idea. The program interface is similar to the old gateway 1995 system and it has a tendency to crash. Not to mention after the 2 minutes of scanning the image may or may not appear on your desktop. - PLEASE LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE!

I was skeptical about spending this much for a scanner,since my last one cost about $60, and I have not used this much yet, but what I have used it for, I am amazed at the quality of scans and ease of operation. I only installed the basic software supplied, and I printed a picture from a 35mm negative that in my opinion was better than the original from the photo lab, without modifying the colors, and I have a $50 HP all-in-one printer.It is bigger than my last scanner, and I am going to have to modify my custom built shelving unit to accomodate it.This operated quicker and easier than some of the reviews I've read about this unit. I think some the other people's problems were that they installed the additional software supplied with this and it might take longer to process images.

I sold my Epson V750-M Pro to get the CanoScan 9000F instead. I'll divide my review into three categories: speed, quality, and user interface. ____ SPEED: I just couldn't get around to scanning anything with the V750 because the wait with every scan is just agonizing. It sounds like it has to rev up its engine every time. On the other hand, The speed and agility of the 9000F are impressive. I place several pictures at a time on the glass to scan, and the software lets you independently select the settings for each picture, mixing resolutions and corrections. Then it goes and scans each one separately. And because the LED light requires no warm-up time, it works immediately you can just get so much done! I scanned over 150 pictures in the first few days of having this scanner -- more than I did in the two years I had the Epson. However, do keep in mind that when scanning film and slides, scanning speed will be reduced drastically -- that's just the way it is, regardless of the scanner. _____ QUALITY: The V750 is a professional grade scanner (hence the almost $800 price tag) does a slightly better job with dust and scratch removal using Digital ICE. The 9000F uses FARE, which works well, but seems to not be quite as effective. Scans on the 9000F tend to be slightly more blue, but you can tweak that correction easily. ______ INTERFACE: The user interface is a bit clugey (is that how you spell it?), but it does everything it needs to, and while you're scanning a large number of pics it stores them in its own catalog until you're finished, then saves the files in one single sweep. The software seems to not retain some settings (I keep having to uncheck a box to create subfolders by scan date), but overall works very well. _____ CONCLUSION: If I had to choose on one hand between having the best scanner (V750) and never using it, and on the other hand having a great scanner (9000F) and using it like crazy, I would definitely take Option B. I highly recommend the 9000F for its beautiful design, easy setup, very good scanning quality, easy photo correction settings, ability to scan several pics at once, and impressive speed!

Am very pleased with this product...simple color or b/w scans come out great, and I just ran a strip of color negatives through and they came out very nicely. Very easy to use this scanner; loading is simple, and the results are great! Of course my task will be time consuming, but the CanoScan 9000F will help me get the job done very nicely.

PROS: This scanner is SUPER quick. I can scan four 35mm Slides at max resolution(4800 dpi), and it only takes 5 min. The driver software has a real nice set of options for pre-scanning. I Love the fact you can walk away from the scanner, and do something around the house while it scans...it will play a soundclip of your choice when it is finished, to alert you.CONS: The USB cord is WAY too short. They need to package this with a longer chord. I would recommend a USB extender, or a longer chord if you plan on having this on the opposite side of your desk.My OS is Windows XP. I have been having a LOT of problems with the Canon MP Navigator EX scanning software. Besides the good options. Its a resource hog. "Insufficient Memory" errors seem to be commonplace with the Canon MP Navigator EX software. Do your research before this purchase! Make SURE you have at least 4gb of memory.WARNING: If you have 2gb or less of RAM, this software will not work correctly!I have called Canon's support center over 4 times, and am still having problems. The only way the software can work on my PC, is I have to start up my pc with bare bones drivers.There is nothing on the web I have found to help...I had to resort to Canon's support. They really need to revamp, and do something about this horrible horrible software that comes with it.**side note(update): I updated my RAM to 4gb, and the software runs fine without a hitch. I cannot emphasize enough to you, to have enough RAM for the software.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------***IMPORTANT Update 10/13/2011: My old PC crashed, and now have a whole new rig. I am now running Windows 7 with 8gb of ram, and the insufficient memory error popped up again....well, to make a long story short, after agonizing about it for about a half-hour and doing research on the web, it seems like Canon finally wised up and updated their software. I now use the updated MP Navigator EX software(version 3.1.3.0), and its super fast!!-->MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE MOST CURRENT SOFTWARE ON CANON's WEBSITE BEFORE USING<--

The scanner works very well for all the document, slide and film scanning I have done. The scanner is quick and quiet and up to the quality of all the other Canon models I have purchased over the years.The only feature about this scanner that is somewhat unfortunate is it's thickness. However. I do not expect it to be any real issue.

instead of paying the $35 for this, just plug the P-150M's second "power cable" that comes with the device into any 5amp USB power adapter such as that included with most iPhone/iPods/other mobile phones. You can get such an adapter for much much less than $35 and it has the same effect of making the scanner's motor run faster.

I bought this for my mom a year ago. While she uses email, and her web browser, she is not very tech savvy. Nevertheless she has used this scanner for a little over a year and loved it. It's handled all of her documents, and hasn't caused her any problems. It's also quite small, so doesn't take up much room on her desk. This is one of the best peripherals I've ever bought for a computer.

Good scanner but not great. I think if it had the software that the scansnap by Fujitus has that it would be equal if not better. Having Adobe pro like Fujitsu would be a great combination.Great fast scans with cannon as woud be expected from a photo company. You wont be disappointed and I have tried many of these scanners.

I usually don't write reviews but I found the ones posted so helpful in my research so I thought I would possibly help out someone elese. I have been looking for a small desk scanner for quite a while. I was certainly tempted by the Fujitsu Scansnaps BUT since they are NOT TWAIN scanners, I kept holding out. I was browsing online, again, for scanner reviews etc when I came across the Canon P 150. After reading the reviews and watching the You Tube videos I ordered it the same day. The vendor shipped it to me the next day. I was very intrigued at the speed and size of this scanner. I must say that I am very pleased with my purchase. This little scanner is a PERFECT solution for low to moderate scanning needs and FANTASTIC if desk space is a premium. I live in NYC so space was certainly a concern. It takes up about 11" x 3" on my desk when closed and little more when open. It is also wonderful that it can be powered 100% by the USB port. I have not had any issues with speed using the USB power connection. I have used the biz card scanning software, and it seems to work well enough. I usually use Adobe Acrobat for scanning to PDF's so have not really used the Paper Port software. One really nice thing to note is that you don't even need to load any scanner software if you use the basic scan option. Plug in to the USB port, hit the scan button, done. One more note: installing of the separation pad was a little tricky BUT if you watch the You Tube video about installing it, it will save you tons of time.Overall, this is a must have scanner for anyone looking for a small scanner that does a great job, and does it quickly. I give it as A+!!!!

This scanner is great for long sheets of paper. Doesn't do the little stuff like gas, food, etc. Sent back for a scanner that does the smaller pieces of paper. Otherwise, for large sheets this scanner is great!

We purchased this scanner because our old one is very slow. We had hoped to find the image quality of this unit to be comparable. In all honesty, it is close. Our old scanner is an "all in one" by epson. Photograph scans for the Cannon are clear but lightened and show some dustlike spots. The higher resolution on negative scanning is surprisingly good.The speed is great and the scan quality is more than acceptable. This unit is not meant to be high dollar effective and is not... thus the four star rating. I would, however, rate it at the head of its class.

Wow, I can't believe what a great scanner this is. I used it for a bit yesterday (the day I got it) just to play around and ended up scanning a big pile of photos that have been nagging at me for months. Today, in about 45 minutes, I scanned a whole box of pictures.I really love that I can place two, three or four photos (depending on the size) on the bed and it separates them into individual files. The scans look GREAT and it's fast! I know I sound like I must work for Cannon but I don't - I am just excited about finally having a scanner I like. This was so worth the money.Oh yea, I've also scanned about 30 slides already. I had a Nikon coolscan that I sold when I thought I was done with all my slides. We found hundreds more slides in my parents house. I think this might actually do a better job with the slides then the Nikon did (and for a lot less money!).

I bought this because I had a few hundred slides that I wanted to scan along with another few hundred of an odd large size negative. I used the basic settings for the most part but this puppy will scan, repair, and more but it will take more time and I prefer to do my own touch ups. Color of the scan is also great.

We bought this scanner for my husband who is a realtor. It powers itself via usb from his laptop. It is very compact and lightweight and the document feeder folds down and becomes a protective cover for transport. Recently, he was in the middle of a real estate transaction during a family vacation and was able to scan & email while on the road, so we are really pleased with our purchase. It can scan 15 pages at a time, although we stand by it to make sure it feeds properly. So far, its been over a month of daily use and we have not had any issues. Would highly recommend.

I chose this scanner because in my line of business I have to scan documents from my vehicle while out on work locations. This scanner does a great job. If you scan a receipt in and it ends up crooked, it automatically straightens it out. It also scans both sides of the document. Pay the extra money for the case too, it does not come with one.

I own a Canoscan 4400f, and it performs well scanning. The problem it shares with the 9000f is the two little flat pieces of plastic that hold the negative during scanning the negative. If you lose or break those little cheesy pieces of plastic, you are Esso L, my friend. Look at the photos of the machine here on the Amazon website and you'll see what I mean.The little hinges on the plastic pieces on my machine cracked after a few months, so I thought I'd buy a couple of these "negative holders" - maybe buy 2 or 3 extras. Sorry Charlie, Canon doesn't sell the holders separately and never did.I looked at the Canon website, and it's the same deal with the 9000f and the other models. The lousy little pieces of plastic are not for sale as accessories or as anything else.Canon gave me the non-toll free number of some warehouse in Virginia that was supposed to have the parts but the guy there told me they don't have the junk plastic dodads. I could tell from the tone of his voice that he'd had a lot of calls on the subject. If you're seriously going to buy a 9000 or a 8800, I'd get the warehouse number and see if you can order a bunch of doodads. They don't last long if you scan a lot of negatives.I'm handling my little negative thingees like they were made out of gold. I'm fitting the pieces together with difficulty to scan negatives. The negatives fall out or the thingees don't stick click together. Maybe I'll see a used 4400f at a flea market or in a thrift store and I can pay for a used scanner just to get the weak part in this machine.I'd recommend a Canon scanner but not a film negative scanner. Canon, why have a sturdy, efficient negative scanner depend on something so fragile and irreplaceable? I've always trusted Canon, but not now.

Does the job. I scanned slides and color/BW negatives with no issues. I wish it came with an APS film adapter but that is the only thing I would like to see with a scanner at this price range.

scans incredible and fast especially since i have been doing 600 dpi on all my photos. I restored them and this product totally impressed me, especially since i used to work with a professional print company that had a top of the line scanner.

it's a fast and quite scanner compared to my previous scanner which is a canoscan LIDE 100. however, the LIDE 100 actually auto-drop my scans into their actual size. for example, if a scan a page of a book, the final output will be that page, with the scanner glass/platen cropped out. the canoscan 9000f is supposed to do this, but it does not. when one "auto-detect" as the page size option, this scanner does not crop scans to their proper size. i tried other options too, all to no avail. the final output always includes the glass/platen in it. this means if you are scanning alot of stuff, YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY CROP EVERYTHING....i don't know if it's just me, but if anyone else expereinced this problem nd has fixed it, please contact me, i spoke to canon support and they were of no help

Nice scanner for the money, just wish it would scan more than 4 slides at a time! Great resolution, color and picture quality.

Picture is totally wrong but the adapter makes a huge difference on the P-150. Well worth the few extra dollars to get with the scanner.

It works and is easy to use. It also was easy to set up.Have a fairly powerful computer or it will slow down any other processes. But it worked to copy old photos. Did not try slides or negatives yet but no reason to think it won't be fine.It is smart enough to scan four photos at one time and know they are separate files and not a collage

Every month my "to file" pile has been growing higher and higher, as I put off trying to squeeze the papers into my overstuffed filing cabinet. This tiny, but very effective, scanner has removed my need to ever file another piece of paper. The software that comes with it is easy to use and very intuitive. I only have Adobe Reader to read the scanned documents, but that's great for my home use. I was able to breeze through 2 file drawers of paper in short time, and now all my files are on the computer instead of taking up drawer space. I wish I had this little scanner years ago. It easily copies 2 sided documents and provides very clear images. I like that it comes with 2 USB power cords. Great purchase for families who want to keep electronic copies of all kinds of records, financial reports, bank statements, bills, etc. Well worth the funds. A disk is a lot more transportable than a filing cabinet if you need to vacate due to emergency or if you are in the military and move every few years.

it works like a "maxi". Very good portable scanner. I think that having a portable scanner is becoming more important than having a large scanner/copier/fax machine. The single use of this scanner enhances it's functionality.

I love this Cano Scan 9000F. I did a lot of research beforepurchasing. It is easy to use, and I am often technicallychallenged by the new electronics. Quality is great and itwas a good buy. Before I had a small slide scanner, but thequality was poor. I can even put in a picture, copy and emailit to friends and family. It works for copying documents formy home business too. I am no computer geek...I just wanted a scanner that would do what I needed it to do, and this Canon Scanner is just what i wanted. After reading the how tos about the machine I put it to work and it exceeded my expectations. Even someone like me who has no in depth knowledge of this kind of stuff made it do what I wanted. I scanned a ton of family pix dated back to the early part of the last century and have created a visual family tree. I recommend this scanner to anyone who wants a quality product at a reasonable price.

As a college student, I live in a pretty small space. I also have to move around every year when I change dorm rooms and pack up for the summer. Because of this, and because I just don't like clutter, I've always scanned my notes each semester and then recycled the paper. This used to mean getting through 3 pages a minute on a flatbed scanner, so scanning all my notes at the end of the semester took me 2 or 3 days. In comparison, this little scanner goes at lightening speed. And I don't have to babysit it to make sure each new page gets scanned! Additionally, I can now easily scan whatever I want in just seconds to send to classmates, professors, my parents, and my friends. And it's tiny - maybe a little bigger than a Chipotle burrito - so I can take it to group meetings or anywhere else I may need to go. As I tell everyone I know, using this scanner is my new favorite hobby. It does a wonderful job and is the perfect item for anyone who likes organization.Now, I gave this item five stars because I love the scanner so much. The software is a little slow and could definitely use some improvements, but it's a side show to the beauty of the scanner. So if you have high expectations of your software, maybe this isn't right for you. For everyone else, I would recommend this scanner without hesitation.
