I decided to upgrade from a basic pair of Sony ear-buds to these after reading positive reviews. Overall the quality seems good and the sound is a great improvement over my previous pair. There is one problem with them and its a big one. Whenever I plug them into my Dell Laptop and roll my chair, I periodically get static shocks in my ears. Now the ears is not someplace you want to get shocked, trust me.
I don't know if this is a design flaw or manufacturing defect in the laptop or the Klipsch ear-buds. I don't have this problem with my basic Sony ear-buds when plugged into the laptop so I am leaning toward toward the klipsch ear-buds as the problem. I have tried adjusting the headphone jack to see if it is a bad connection to the laptop... but nothing seems to make a difference.
I will try using them only with my phone and see if it still happens. I would not buy them again or recommend them.

These are the greatest earbuds I have ever owned. I have had 3 versions of this headset. The only cons about these are that quality control could be better the connection fails usually the left side fails than the right. The first ones lasted the longest almost a year. Like I said the QC has gone down but they still sound the best. Crystal clear sound separation of all the sounds you can hear each instrument. Almost feels like you are in the studio with the artist that's, how clear they are. I bought a different brand and they cost over hundred dollars they were not has good. All the sounds are muffled into one sound no separation at all. And the only other problem with the klischps is the cord I wish they would use braided wire for added strength and durability. These have great highs and mid light on the bass but that's how I them. If you cannot feel the bass don't even try. I like hearing it with earbuds but even with the most expensive heavy drivers for in ear buds you still can't feel the bass. I hope this helps people who care about sounds. By the way I listen to everything.

So far I'm waiting to hear the difference after these phones have been "burned in", but they sound great as they are. I wish they were as loud as some other sets I've had, but clarity of more important and these have it in spades. The ear buds are angled to seal and fit better in your ear, however I have found they are just not interchangeable from ear to ear. I like the buttons but they do not work with my android device (other than the stop/start button) but do well with my apple device. I think I would have chose another pair that is compatible with both phones. The cable being flat helps with knotting, however they tend to catch on things more than round ones. I am very happy so far!

Good quality for the price I got them for ($40). Only issue is that that none of the tips fit me well and it ket falling off thanks to the weight of the cable and the inline controls. But once I got aftermarket ear tips, they work very well...

I loved the Klipsch Image S4i headphones, and now I love the S4i-II too. Huge improvements over the deficiencies in the former. The cable is a ribbon now and doesn't fray. Also, it's black and gray instead of the dirt magnet white that it was before.
The shirt clip holds on much better. The case is actually useful too, as opposed to the old one.
And of course, absolutely still has the best sound quality for earphones.

I use these primarily for running and light use and have went through several pairs. They stopped honoring their 1 year warranty which was why I stayed with them. I can no longer suggest that people buy these headphones and I strongly urge buyers to look elsewhere. While the sound quality is good. potential buyers should be aware that they will not last long and due to a quality defect, one of the ears WILL go out after 3-6 months. It's happened to me several times. I know Klipsch makes great speakers but looks like they missed the mark with their headphones.

The cord is a flat style cord so it doesn't wind or fold up easily. The volume control is located close to the ear buds which for me is a negative since you have to look for it because it is close to your head.
One side just decided to give out yesterday after less than one year of light use and it is now a mono ear bud. There is no fix to it apparently. $45 bucks down the drain for 10 months use.
I would not buy this again nor recommend them to anyone else.

Really really good. I listen to all levels types of. Music, rock music, heavy metal, country, pop, and symphonic and these ear buds perform better than any other high end ear buds I've owned even better than some of the more expensive ones. The highs could be a little better tuned but still great. The deep bass is as the word describes it, deep and full of bass. The mid is really where this earned out performs, the spoken voice parts and acoustic guitar parts are amazingly played and listened too. The price was not quite a steal but it wasn't a loss of money too, because this earned is in the middle of the price line. Here is where. You het what you pay for comes from. You pay for a $60+ set of earmuffs then that's what you get. I give it an over all 9/10 for the price and audio play back and quality. I listen to my music in .flac format.

I really loved those headphones when they worked and wanted to recommend them to all of my friends, but their build quality is just not good...
I had the previous version of those headphones for a year, until they finally fell apart. The cable on those headphones was round (not flat like on the current Image S4i II) and it broke off on both sides eventually. I was so happy to see the second version come out at that time with a flat cable, because I do love the sound of those headphones! I thought they would be more durable and maybe last me longer, since previously the rounded cable was the weak point on those.
I got the new version in March and I loved them until the last week of June, when while walking I heard the right earphone die. Then after a week the remote stopped working, and today (mid August) I'm hearing that the left side is stopping to work as well! I would use those headphones practically everyday while I commute and at work (nothing extreme just train travel, walking, studio work). I was definitely taking care of them. This time the cable is still in perfect condition and there is no visual damage on them, except for the black rubbery part of the earphone casting on both sides that went out of shape overtime and is lifting in places... : / I'm guessing this happened because of the everyday contact with my skin?? I Have no idea. I noticed the rubbery parts changing after 1-2 months of usage, while both headphones still worked perfectly fine. You would imagine that the material used to make those parts would be resistant to this kind of "shape-shifting" caused by natural skin produced oils. Those parts were made from hard plastic in the previous version and I didn't have this problem before.
Either way, I'm disappointed, because they did sound amazing and I really loved them, but they just don't last. Is it worth to spend $80 for 3 months of great quality listening?

This is my 3rd headset and liked the headset, bought all from Amazon. but after a year and half one side stopped working.
Called the company and they replaced it, since then, based on my personal experience, I bought two as present, and the 2nd 3rd one's remote button malfunctioned and stopped working.

I should mentioned that my sets were all, brand new, never opened, all have legitimate serial numbers and hologram seals, but they did not accept my original receipt, serial number or seal.. the head set malfunctions about a year after purchase, I would not purchase it again, I rather pay little bit more but buy it from a more durable or a company who stands behind their product, like Apple.

Product appears to have been repackaged as there was things that were not quite right about the wrapping. I had purchased another exact set of headphones from another vendor so I knew how it should look. I have tested out the headphones against my other pair and so far they seem to be working OK.. It was a good price, but maybenot as good as I first thought.

I never really felt these were comfortable. But the audio was good, the mic pretty solid. But, after a just under a year of use, these also died. The remote no longer works, the mic doesn't seem to pick up. I don't think I'll buy another pair of these, in spite of the sound being pretty good in them.
All in all, kind of disappointed.

After more than six months of use, I am still in love with these earbuds. By far the best pair I have ever owned. Surprisingly affordable, amazingly comfortable, and superbly crafted. What's not to love??? Do yourself a favor and buy them now.

received a new pair and the jack was faulty, could only hear one side of stereo audio through both ears (mono). When you flex the rubber output jack it is apparent the wiring here is defective, as many others have found.

Remote component of the cable failed in less than six months. Support won't honor the warranty as it was not from one of their approved dealers. Would not recommend buying this product.

3 months to the day and the voice volume is much lower than the background music making these useless. Klipsch won't do anything about it because it wasn't sold by an authorized dealer.

The sound quality and noise isolation is very good. For better or worse, I can't hear my family talking/whining when I have these in. The thicker wire helps a lot to avoid tangling.
The microphone does not work as well as the iPhone earbuds- people complain that there is some feedback... But I can hear better and the sound is better.

The sound on these are pretty good. The eartips suction to your ears
very well so they stay in. Bass is great but they lack highs...highly.
Lol. One major flaw with these is specifically if you're using them as
an ear set for your phone. The remote and mic are right where the
wires do the y split so when I held a conversation with someone on the
phone it was hard for them to hear me because the mic was so far away
from where your mouth is. Overall though, they are not worth the
retail price of $99 but if you can find them for a cheaper price
they're pretty good.

Love these. Absolutely love the sound you get out of them right out of
the box. The bass is great but not as deep as the s4i 2s but aren't
necessarily a bad thing. I also own the SL150 and I think this is a
theme that they have: they sound good with EVERY genre. I wouldn't say
balanced because they are hyped up quite a bit just like beats by dr
dre but lets just say the clarity is amazing. Sound stage much spacier
than the s4i 2s. The build quality is very solid as well. Perfect for
using them as an ear piece on your phone. The mic and remote is
positioned right under or to the side of your face. Only things i
suggest is getting a different set of ear tips. The ones included are
huge (even the small ones) and fall out quite easily. Overall though,
this is the best bang for your buck and are my favorite in eat style
headphones.

Basically the big brother of the SL49s. To keep it simple lets just
say this. They're the SL49s but with much heavier bass and more
noticeable highs. This can be a good or bad thing depending on what
you like. I personally like the sound of these more than the SL49s but

they are significantly bigger and heavier than the SL49s. If you can
get these to stay in your ears, I highly recommend these.

I was very impressed with these earphones for their price. They are quite comfortable, and stay in the ear pretty well. Most importantly, the sound was excellent. The sound is very crisp and clear. Cannons, cymbals, whips, gunshots, etc. are crisp and clear instead of mushy garbage. The bass is as good as anyone can expect from earphones. Bass from headphones will never be the same as a good subwoofer - just the physics of sound etc. For the price I paid for it, I am very happy. The no tangle cord is a lifesaver too. If you haven't heard of Klipsch, they are a high quality brand, better than Skull Candy, etc. You're mostly paying for brand image with some other brands.

I bought a pair a few years ago and really liked them. They eventually wore out and I went with some Monster earbuds instead. After a year of those I was still longing for my old Klipsh S4's so I bought these.
I'm disappointed with these in that their is little to no bass. The highs are crystal clear but imagine only listening to treble all the time. Also these have a built in microphone which was a big part of me buying them as I use this function on phone calls a lot. Well the microphone piece is placed half way down your chest as opposed to close to your mouth ( like the iphone earbuds) so I'm not happy with that. It sounds more like a speakerphone if you are on the other end and background noise creeps on.

I had a pair of the S4i and used them for about 4 years. I was very happy with them, apart from the microphone which I found I had to hold to my mouth to increase it's efficacy. The cable eventually failed at the point where the cable enters the mini-jack rendering them useless.
I replaced them with the S4i ii as I assumed they would be improved over the old model. I've used them for about a month now.
The good: the microphone is improved and I no longer have to hold it to my mouth in order for the person on the other end of the line to hear me. At first glance the cable seems to have been reinforced where the cable enters the mini-jack. They still have the great sound quality I became used to with the s4is (although I had to burn them in for a couple of days, they sounded horrible straight out of the box).
The bad: This is what loses two full stars for me. The cable. It is HATEFUL. I can't believe Klipsch actually decided the material the cable is made of is an improvement on the old. It is made of an almost sticky plastic/rubber which causes more noise transfer to your ear due to the cable rubbing on your clothing as you walk. It may be tangle-proof but because of its oval cross section it has a torsional strength which makes twists in the cable mount up so you have to unplug the cable from the source in order for it to untwist. Another annoyance is the little band that joins the left and right cables so you can pull them tight up to your chin. When storing the headphones it seems to overcome the sticky plastic and manages to slide towards the earbuds, effectively joining them, meaning you have to pull it back down to the mic so you can get the earbuds in your ears. Only now it doesn't slide for some reason , so I honestly struggle to get it back down to where it should stay at the mic and feel like I'm straining the cable from the earbuds in the process.
Would I buy the S4i iis again? No. Would I buy the S4is instead? Possibly, but the mic was an issue for me. If you aren't bothered about the mic get the S4is over these, overall the product is much better. If I haven't persuaded you not to buy them I would urge you to try them in person in-store. And please, please, please Klipsch R&D, what were you thinking? Change the cable. It's only because these headphones sound good I've given them three stars. If they didn't sound so good they'd be 1 star.
EDIT: Failed in the right ear after 2 months, so returned for a refund. Hence rating change to 1 star.

The previous version was great but got stuck in the stair master and died. I jump. On Amazon and see they have an updated version so I go for it. This version is fine soundwise but as far as build goes the ear buds pop out a lot and all of a sudden the in-line mic stopped working. Also the thin cord seemed cool but it makes a lot of noise when you work out. I had the s4i for a year and had no problems. This was not even six months the and is broken. Get the older version if you plan on using these daily at the gym. They're better.

I lost my iPhone EarPods in the airport so I was in the market to get some replacement headphones. I googled "best in ear headphones" and a link came up of "best for under $100" and these were #1 so I bought them. Before I bought them I looked at reviews on here and noticed the only complaint was the cord was noisy, and I thought I could live with that, but more on that here in a minute. They were on sale for $40 at the time so I was pumped also.
It has been about 4-5 months of owning these, using them 4-5 times a week on avg. Airport, gym, work, whatever. These things sound great! Great overall sound, good bass, I am hyped. The different size ear pieces are perfect. The complaint everyone had about a noisy cord are just dumb... They are semi-isolation headphones, so you have an ear piece shoved into your ear and so if the cord connected to it gets pulled or anything that is all you notice, not actual noise in the cord.
Buy these, you will not be disappointed.

I bought these headphones as a replacement for the earlier model, the S4i, which I lost. I had them for over two years, longer than any other pair of earbuds that I had owned due to a tendency to leave them in my book bag, making them susceptible to cord-tearing. This was despite reviews that the early model had a too-thin cord that ripped easily. I loved them, and when the time came, I didn't need much convincing that they were still the best pair for me. They have a better sound quality than Bose for a better price, and the new model features a sturdier cord, which is actually a little heavy and flat, but will lead to a longer life. However, it is my understanding that this is the only real change between the S4i and the S4i-II, so if you are not worried about the thickness of the cable, than maybe you can find a cheaper pair of the older model without suffering any loss in quality.
One thing you should note, however, is that it is very important that you fit the right size ear piece in. I never gave this much thought with other ear buds I've owned, but definitely need the smalls with the Klipsch, otherwise every move I make reverberates in through my ears, like I'm walking underwater. One thing you should note, however, is that it is very important that you fit the right size ear piece in. I never gave this much thought with other ear buds I've owned, but definitely need the smalls with the Klipsch, otherwise every move I make reverberates in through my ears, like I'm walking underwater. Once you find the right size, though, this problem disappears entirely.

Best quality, moderately priced noise isolation with excellent sound. Please do use the included clip. It's vital for walking around without listening to the wire rub up against fabric. I've had to special order clips when I invariably lose one. Running with these doesn't work so well - the footfall is just so loud with the noise isolation. I wrap these up and take them out of my pocket at least a dozen times a day. They stand up to that wear. It's so nice to have this level of sound quality and the purity of the distraction-less isolation in my pocket. I would say it is life altering.

The sound quality from these In-ear headphones are quite nice, and I would recommend it if they fit well. You have to really jam it into your ear for it to fit, and it gets painful doing that after a while. Everybody's ears are different, but I just found these earphones to be way too uncomfortable for me to wear.
The worst part about these headphones isn't the fit, because, after around 5 minutes, I would eventually find the sweet spot where it fits but doesn't hurt. The microphonics (cord noise when touching ANYTHING) was unbearable, and when I got up to walk I was able to hear every footstep and light brush against my clothes as loud, booming noises. In most cases, these noises were so loud that I wasn't able to hear the music over it (I listen at a decently medium-high volume). Overall, I would not recommend these earphones. Similar sound quality can be found in other earphones without the extra negative qualities.

IMPORTANT: The model of headphones is excellent but these are not covered under Klipsch's awesome return policy. I've owned about 6-7 pairs of these headphones and I use them all day, every day (office job, gym, commute). They wear out pretty quickly and I always get them replaced. I usually get 2 replacements then just buy another pair.
I was very sad to find out that this pair in particular isn't covered under the Klipsch warranty bc they arent an authorized reseller. Get the headphones, but don't buy them from Carolinas.

I bought these earbuds in March 2013 to replace a 4-year old pair of Shures which I loved but which finally gave out. What attracted me to the Klipsch was the built-in microphone and audio controls and the thin tangle-proof cords. The sound was excellent, the controls were responsive and, according friends, the microphone sounded good.
However, I have gone through two pairs of headphones due to the same cord failure: the internal wires break where the flat cord meets the plug causing the earbuds to cut out and/or the control buttons to stop working.
To Klipsch's credit, they sent me a new replacement pair very quickly when the first pair failed in June. The second pair was working until yesterday, but failed suddenly and was what prompted me to write this review. So, based on just my experience, these earbuds have a 3-4 month lifespan.
By the way, I'm very careful with my electronics, especially with earphones. I believe these earphones have a high failure rate because of the poor design of the cable-plug junction. There is no strain relief in the design, such as a tapered plug, causing the cord to constantly flex in the same spot.
If it weren't for this fatal flaw, I would have given the headphones 4 or 5 stars.

* Sound great.

I like these earphones and they are well made. However, I don't think they sound as good as my previous two pairs of similar model. I travel a lot, and lost the two previous pairs... it was not that they broke or wore out. I have been overall very happy with the quality and price point of Klipsch in-ear headphones. I love the flat cord which make it easy taking them out and not having to untangle. Am just a bit concerned about the sound quality, but I have only used them a few times since received.

These might be last year's model but they are super. Great sound when sitting down and they stay in your ears when jogging. I could use a larger size bud, but I have that issue with all ear bud headphone. Highly recommend.

I like this headphones. I used to have the Bose IE2 which were awesome but after 2 years of use one of the little wires that goes to the ear deteriorated so I had to replace them. I read several reviews and decided to buy the Klipsch S4i-II in December 2013. I have been using them and I really like this headphones. The wire is more sturdy compared to the Bose and the flat shape of the wire makes it easier to pack. I read some reviews about the noise that the wires make when you are running and the truth is that the make a little bit of noise but it's not annoying and it doesn't bother me. I do not use this headphones to exercise, I have wireless for that. I mainly use them for the car or in my office when I'm on my desk so I don't get noise from them. I can hear my music clearly when I'm suing them and my friends can hear me when I talk the these headphones. I am very pleased with this product and I would recommend them!

This is my first higher end headphones, never wanting to spend a $100 or more, but I found these for $35 around Christmas. These are amazing. I've heard sounds and details in my music that I normally do not hear. It provides a perfect blend of acoustics and bass.
In order to enjoy these there are a few things to think about: 1st you must break in the headphones. I did mine for 24 hours in a wide arrange of music. The comparison between out of the box sound and 24 hours of break-in is a huge difference. 2nd, make sure the ear buds fit nicely in the ear. If they are lose then the sound will be distorted, and if they are too big they will hurt. They have to complete a seal in the ear similar to ear plugs.
Additionally there are a few minor problems which was the reason for 4 stars. The headphone wires are non-tangle which is great, but as a result of the material used and the seal inside the ear, when the cord rubs against items it can make a noise. It can be annoying to some but it does not bother me. As a result of this issue these are not the greatest for active workout routines. When running they are noisy and they tend to fall out if the ear, but for weight lifting workouts these are perfect.
These were so great I bought a second pair for my wife.

I bought these to replace a pair of Sennheiser CX500s. I loved those headphones but I like to play with them while I'm at work and I'd have one of the buds go out after a year or so so I was hoping these would last quite a bit longer with the flatter, more heavy-duty cord. They didn't, despite the fact that I was much more careful with these. They lasted about 6 months before an ear went out.
Initial quality is fine. They sound about the same as my old CX500s - not amazing, not bad. They're kind of a pain to fit properly though - the Sennheisers fit perfectly. These ones fall out way too easily, regardless of which size earpiece I used.
Overall, they didn't live up to the hype for me - I'm going back to Sennheiser.

The sound quality is fantastic. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, they're built to break about two to three months later. If you want any durability at all, avoid these.
Also, the microphone placement made it so people only heard me when I held the microphone closer to my mouth, rather defeating the purpose.
Perhaps I got a faulty model. I'm writing them next, and if they're willing to replace it, I'll change this review and note their quality customer service.
EDIT: They replaced it for me, no questions asked. No hassle whatsoever. They even sent me a different model that had the microphone closer to the mouth so I'm changing the review from one star to four stars.

Good comfort and sound quality, but like many others have said, they do just suddenly break. Sound has gone from one and then both ears. Would probably go for something more robust. Mine lasted 2-3 motnhs

I'm no audiophile but to me, the sound is good but it could definitely be better. Considering the price, I'm happy with them. The only other downside is that you hear a lot of noise as the cords rub on things so they aren't great for exercising.

I originally had the first version which sounded great but I wanted a mic + volume control. So going to bestbuy I ran into their second version. Sounds just as great at the 1st version and the flat cable is a godsend since 1st version constantly tangled.
Like many other Klipsch products, their jack looks and feels very weak. Why they do not strengthen it is beyond me so I expect I to claim their great warranty in 2-4 months. Also the cable above the mic is very thin and looks fragile. But on the plus side they are very lightweight. I was shoving snow from my driveway with these and did not feel any tug down and weight like I do with others. In fact its like their not even on.
The ear tips are the best I ever felt and very comfortable and they isolate extremely well. Sound is excellent, crisp vocals and good bass.
I read some other reviews where people say the cord noise is worse then the 1st version. Personally it feels about the same amount of cord noise the 1st version had and once your playing music its barely noticeable.

I had another pair of Klipsch buds that looked just like this that I bought at Bestbuy 2 years ago. They eventually broke with heavy travel usage but the sound was amazing! They cost $90 but were well worth it compared to the $300+ of Bose in ears. A little white noise box isn't worth $200.
I thought buying the s4i-II I'd get that sound quality again but these must be the downgraded version. Still decent sound, but not that top notch quality you will find with some good overears or bose/beats in ears

I did a lot of research on a pair of in-ear headphones and am thrilled with these. I've had them for awhile now and they have provided crisp sound and block out outside noise. I love the flat cord and they are extremely comfortable in the ear.

Forget about the Bose M2's. If you are looking for exceptional sound and have a budget, these are what you should buy. These are not headphones for running or aggressive workouts, they are headphones for commuting, working etc. General daily use headphones. Except they are not general, they are AWESOME. The sound quality it tip top and all audio is highly intelligible at any volume. I mean, I hear things I don't hear on my stereo when I am listening to music with these. To top it all off, their customer service and 2 year warranty alone are worth the price. If the cones blow or the mic stops, which may happen with a wired in ear headset (and happened to me) they were instantaneous in their response and immediately sent me a replacement set. These are such good headphones that I could care less that they had a minor issue after a year of HEAVY FULL DAY USE. Warranty solved that! Get these, they are phenomenal.
