Based on the reviews I have read here, I didn't even try to mess with the manual. I did look at it and as others have said it is pretty useless. I just called Zyxel right away. If you are in the U.S. the phone number is: 1-800-255-4101 The first person I spoke to was kind of a dud and me being cocky, thought I could figure the rest out on my own. I was wrong. I called back and the second person was really good. Funny enough, contrary to popular sterotypes, the American sounding guy was the dud. It was the Indian sounding guy that was really nice, patient and easy to work with. The Indian didn't treat me like I was too stupid to own the device like the American guy did. Soooooooooo I got a good price on a great device and busted a stereotype in the process. Very nice.

Works as described. Range decent for budget access point. Setup was a little tricky. Instructions could be better. This may be a difficult setup for a novice. The key to setup is changing the IP address of the computer used for programing the access point, but remember to change the IP address of the computer back after the setup.

Have been using this in ethernet client mode, because I have no internet in living room, and needed to create two ethernet ports there for my TV set-top box and a voip phone. I didn't want to do new cabling. This item was perfect, it connects to my existing wi-fi and provide 2 additional internet ready ethernet ports. It is even more speedy than connecting to the wi-fi with a laptop, I think it is due to the external antennas. I purchased a Sony blu-ray "wireless ready" player over black Friday and didn't know wireless ready meant buy a $70 product from Sony to accompany their blu ray player. Some deal, huh? Anyway after a bit of research I purchased this bridge in hopes of saving a couple bucks and not giving Sony the satisfaction of double dipping into my media sharing experience. i followed the instruction contained in the amazon review and it works like a charm. I have watched Netflix movies from the player as well as you tube videos and listened to Pandora and Slacker radio. I have the device paired with my FiOS router and saw no hiccups in while playing back Netflix. I know my way around a computer and am no way a programmer or PC expert, but the instruction provided in these reviews work perfectly. It takes about 10 minutes but will works like a champ so far.

The ZyXEL is a great device, but the documentation was lacking and hence it was difficult to configure. Once done it works very well.

The zyXEL wap3205 is just what I needed to extended the wifi coverage in my house. Do yourself a favor and visit the companies website and download the full owners manual for this and your setup will be a lot easier. I'm using this in wireless repeater mode and has been working fine for weeks. I wouldn't heasitate to buy another.

I had purchased a d-link bridge aso I could connect my TV to internet, at times the connection was very slow even though the router and the bridge were no more than 15 ft from each other and in the same room. At times we got great connection and at times terribleI purchased the ZyXel for the same usage, it works real well right away (I followed the instructions on first review for set-up, never really even looked at the ones on the box). I set-it up in 5 minutes or less and it is much faster than D-linkWhile the D-link rarely connected at 54MBps (I have a g network) - this one always connects at 54MBpsI really recommend this product, i wish I purchased it the first time. I think the external antennas make a huge difference - many manufacturers want to hide them but i find that having them makes a huge difference

I got this item about 1 month ago to replace a couple of Netgear powerline ethernet adapters.The adapters were intermittent and somewhat slow (about 1.5Mbps on a good day) and were finicky about which wall outlet they were plugged in to.The documentation for this AP is a little less than desirable, but after a few minutes of reading it was apparent that I needed to configure it as a client. Entering my wireless router access information was similar to setting up any other wireless device.One reset later, it was up and running delivering high speed and reliable service.My home network is only 'g', so I can't comment on the 'n' attributes but would assume they are equally reliable.

Hi, I recommend this item if you have some knowledge of networking. I have a Sony BD and DirectTv DVR. I hooked both into this device and they work great. I went ahead and ordered NetFlix to get the streaming feature for instantly watching movies. This works really well but I suggest you have a 300n or higher networking box. The downside; The setup was not easy at first. The instructions were a little confusing and they did not come with a tech support phone number. I went ahead and looked up the number via internet and called them. I was talking to support in less than a minute. They E-mailed me the step by step instructions which I printed and followed. At that point it took less than 5 Min. to setup and I did not have any glitches plus it was easy. Overall, I recommend this product. I fiqure I saved $75-$125.00 on buying this vs. 2 seperate networking adaptors. If you do get it, call 1-800-255-4101 opt.5 betwwen 8am-5pm pst. Have them E-mail the stepted instructions and you will be up and running within 5-10 min.. Goodluck.

works great once you get it working. It does freeze on occasion and I need to reset. But overall very good product. I had to return original, but Amazon was great with return and since then very good product. Right now just using as access point.

I was a little hesitant at first to purchase this because I am not very familiar with the brand, but at the price, and with the rebate, it definitely was worth a shot. I am pleased to write that my concerns were unfounded.I have this setup as a client/bridge for one of my Dish Network DVRs. On my other DVR I am using a Linksys WRG54G2 wireless router that has DD-WRT flashed on it. It works very well and I was going to get another (I bought it on eBay) but the seller has raised his price so I started looking elsewhere.When I came across this it was significantly cheaper than others I was looking at plus it was "N". I ordered from [...] through Amazon and it arrived quickly. Upon opening the box I was pleased to see a high quality product with excellent packaging. It came with a good "Quick Start Guide" and a CD that has additional documentation. The documentation is pretty complete but not laid out in the most logical manner (at least not to me). Since it is required to set a static IP address on your computer (like on my Linksys), It would be helpful if the manual showed how to do this. I can't believe a reviewer gave this 1 star because of this.I had it up and running in about 15 minutes. I plugged it into my DVR, ran a connection test, and everything worked perfectly. I have been monitoring it now for a while and it's been rock solid. I plugged it into my computer at its location to test signal strength and speed and it's a very solid performer.The bottom line is that this is an excellent wireless access point, and at this price it is great value. All you will need to do is get familiar with setting a static IP address on your computer (you can set it back when you're done). This is with the case with most access points. I will definitely consider this brand for my future network needs.

Many other reviews have commented on the poor documentation and difficulty of setup. I had to call tech support, which was VERY GOOD - but not because of documentation. Apparently there is something in my setup which precluded me from being able to access the setup screen; I believe it is a conflict with antivirus software. You will need to DISABLE your antivirus to set up the product. Tech support walked me through everything in about 15 minutes.However, once it was set up it worked perfectly. A much better option than the USB dongle to go with my Blu-ray player.

ZyXEL WAP3205 Wireless N access point, Ethernet client, and universal repeater can not accurately review this product because I needed a bridge not an access point device.

heyyy...Thanks to all customer Reviews so that I could set up this access point eaisly...Great work guys...As ssaid the printed manual is a crap...Now my Sony Blureray player is connected net...I can watch all videos from the Net !!! Great!!!

this product is hard to set up with no instructions. then after it's set up it only stays online for a hour or so at a time. then you have to log off and back on. quite a pain. it's going back!!

As others reviews says, this it's a good product but it's difficult to setup. I fighted with it for about 2 hours until the job was done. The main problem is that you need to change your computers IP in order to have access to the web console. When you get there the other problem is to setup the network security(I supose that you have you wireless network secured). If you don't have technical skills, you may have troubles get it working. Well, at the end I setup the device in client mode and take it to my blu-ray and everything works fine.

You are considering this product because it is an access point, not a router. It will only extend your network. Still, it would be nice if it had more ethernet ports on the back in order to plug in other devices like desktop computers or networked printers.If you know how to work with routers or other network devices this should give you no trouble- whether using the provided software or by web browser to the native IP address and configuring it manually.

Tech Support is not very good. Spent hours on the phone, finally tech support said "We give Up". Some units just don't repeat well with this Zyxel unit ?So it's just gathering dust now.

I used another review here to figure out the quickest way to setup. Used my laptop and had it up in running in a few minutes.Only 2 additional points to make...This thing clocked in better on speedtest.net than the wifi adapter in my laptop (ASUS G73JH model), connecting to the same router from the same laptop (probably because of the external antennas).This was bought instead of a wifi adapter for a blu-ray player and was less than half the price (and has a second port for something else to use) and I'm very happy with the price, size and speed.

There's no 5ghz support and will only support 802.11n in the 2.4ghz band. I learned this the hard way after buying one and studying the reference manual for an hour or so. For what it is, the zyxel3205 was reasonably easy to set up and was stable for the time I was using it.Since my wireless n network is 5ghz, I returned it in lieu of another dlink dap-1522.

The WAP3205 arrived crazy fast and did exactly what I wanted it to do, for a good deal less than the big-name product I had just taken back to my local retailer because it didn't.I saw some reviews objecting to the documentation, but I had no complaints; the manual is thick and not missing any details I wanted to see (I can always ignore information I don't need, but I can't stand it when manuals oversimplify what I do need!). I had a decent technical idea what I wanted the product to do, and the docs told me at pretty much the right level how to do it.

After a lot of research i decided to buy this device to serve as a wi-fi repeater. The device is a total flop in all regards. The setup process is complex - the documentation is horrible. After contacting Zyxel helpdesk they sent me a file that was much more helpful - why isn't that part of the documentation sent to customers??? Unfortunately even with the new docuemtnation i could not get the device to asscoaite with my fairly standard Linksys wi-fi router. After 4 calls with their tech support they concluded it might be a lack of compatability... How can you lack compatabaility with one of the basic and most widely used wi-fi routers???Unfortunately this is going back to Amazon and i am back to square one to find another repeater.
