As an Amazon Prime member, I ordered this Sunday morning and got it Sunday evening, for a $3 shipping charge. Fantastic!! I am a "power" computer user, capable of installing a printer or tablet, but a little confused by WAPs and WEPs. As others commented, the ZyXel's documentation was a bit minimal. The other Aamzon reviews were very helpful here, and in about 2 hours, I had the unit up and connected to my wireless home network. This boosted the wifi signal on my wife's laptop and my tablet from less than one bar, to a full five bars (very cool). Then I set out getting my Sony Blue Ray connected to Amazon Prime, for the free streaming. This turned out to be the most annoying part of the process, as I had to visit numerous sites and enter some obscure codes, but ultimately, it works beautifully.The ZyXel has proven to be a great device! Both as a wifi signal booster and as a wired connection to my Sony Blue Ray. It also allowed me to use my Blue Ray for streaming without being held hostage to Sony's ridiculous propriety hardware. I am looking forward to watching the original Twilight Zone with my kids and thouroughly freaking them out!

I should have researched this more thoroughly. This is not dual-band 802.11n (in other words it only supports the 2.4 GHz band, not 5 GHz). I've found that's a tricky product specification. Manufacturers love to advertise the term "Wireless-N" because it's faster than its predecessors but not all specify which frequency bands it uses, and there is a big difference between 2.4 and 5 Ghz. That being said, I didn't have any trouble setting it up. It sits there quietly, doing its job as a reliable wireless bridge and I haven't thought about it since I installed it.

Egad! What a nightmare. I'm tech savvy but I fought with this for most of a day before I got it working. I originally intended to use this as a wireless repeater, but I never got that working right despite all the extra setting requirements outlined in other reviews here that the manufacturer does not mention, even in their latest guide. When I set the ZyXEL's SSID and security settings to the same as my D-Link DIR-825 main router, all hell broke loose, even though it showed it was finally associated properly, etc. Most of my wireless devices dropped off the network and no longer could get IP addresses assigned even after I disabled the ZyXEL and performed repeated main router and device reboots. Eventually I did a main router reset to defaults, reinstalled my settings and recovered the network. That was fun. I gave up any hope of getting the range extender mode to work. So, I thought it would be nice to eliminate a couple of Linksys bridges I was using even though they were working well with my Samsung Blu-ray and TV. The Linksys bridges are "g" protocol and do take some time to join the network when the TV and Blu-Ray are powered on. The main problem I had with getting the ZyXEL to work in bridge mode, despite all the good direction here, is that the network tests inside the TV and Blu-ray failed, saying they could not connect to the gateway. I fiddled with IP/gateway/DNS settings for hours before I discovered that the bridge mode was in fact working after all. I'm not sure why the test failure occurred when the Linksys bridges passed. Along the way I did change the IP address of the ZyXEL in its LAN settings to a fixed IP just above the DHCP range of my main router and set the gateway to the IP of main router. I don't know if that matters at all, but I saw that mentioned in another review. All I know is that it is working as a bridge and is noticeably faster to connect and transfer media than the Linksys "g" bridges it replaced. So, all's well that ends well, but I probably should take off more than 2 stars for the extreme aggravation. Merry Christmas.

Unit just would not function on my system. I have an Apple router, with linksys and Netgear AP/repeaters, never had any problems setting them up. This thing is a nightmare. I purchased a USpeed WiFi Repeater and was setup and running in about 3 minutes.

I bought this product to use a wireless range extender. Sort of worked. User manual is horrible, and difficult to follow. I work with Computers for a living and have a server in my house. Like so many poorly desgined products, this product worked for about a month and then started getting flakey. For some reason it confused all the Ipod/Ipad devices in the house, but worked with the PC's. Trying to hard reset it, or reconfigure it was impossible--it would appear to have flaked out. No amount of hard resetting will let me reconfig. Never worked quite right. Don't waste your money. I'm buying another product, this one is in the trash, not even 6 month old.

I purchased this to add a WAP for dead spots in my home. I have this installed with a wired connection from my current switch and wireless router to LAN1 on the ZyXEL, then from the LAN2 port on the ZyXEL a wired connection to my computer. The most difficult part of the set-up was changing the IP address on my computer the ZyXEL is connected to the specified address range in the instructions that would allow me to connect to the WAP through a browser. After that setup took approx. 5 minutes, I returned the IP setup on my computer to what it was and my devices were seeing the new network SSID and connecting after the security key was entered. Overall an easy product to use at least in my application and the price is hard to beat.

Although I had conducted considerable time in attempting to set this up as a Universal repeater, I was unable to do so. Like all the reviews on this product, the documentation that comes with it is not very helpful. The manufacturer does include a DVD which helped somewhat. The firmware was also out of date and that does take some computer savvy knowledge to update. However, onnce updated, and even if you use the factory default setting, it will retain the update. All in all, this product was not for me, I spent many hours looking online for help, but, sometimes too much information is a bad thing. I had a friend also try, no joy. So, reluctantly, I sent it back for a refund. I was dissappointed.

It works but I have to admit it has slowed down my wireless connectionsThe range has been extended as far as 120 feet from my house so I can now watch netflix, access the internet or check email on my iPod anywhere on the propertyIt's not ideal but I can live with itDon't expect miracles

I read the reviews about the setup being confusing but I didn't find it to be bad at all. It was up and running in about 15 min. You do need to connect to the device wirelessly, and you do need to configure your wireless adapter to a valid IP address (other than 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2) for subnet 255.255.255.0. Initially the device is acting as a router, and it will connect without making changes to your adapter. Once you tell the device it's a Universal Repeater, it's not going to talk to you anymore because you just lost your gateway. So follow the instructions and configure your adapter.I thought that the setup "wizzard" was very user friendly. It found my Wireless signal, they only question it asked was "use the same security settings" I said yes and I connected it to my home network the way I would connect any other wireless device. When you finish the setup don't forget to change your adapter settings on your computer back to normal.I'm buying another one for the rest of the house. I went into the settings on the ZyXel after it was autoconfigured and changed the IP address to 192.168.1.3 so that I could put another one on without worrying about an IP address conflict.

Got it and got it to work as a repeater! I was sooo friggen frustrated and worked on this for hours trying to get it going.To view the Zyxel control panel, you have to switch your computer ip address to a different ip other than 192.168.2... I ran the setup wizard every which way from Sunday to no avail and no internet access. Then I realized I might need to switch the pc back to its original ip address... viola! I have my repeater/access point and its working beautifully! I have plenty of bandwidth upstairs in my room for my roku and nook to get to the web (it used to be spotty at best).I'd have given this a 5 stars but the paperwork that comes with the product is useless! The cd users manual is marginal and describes exactly what I want but didnt show how to make the pc connect to the internet after the zyxel was set up. Nowhere did I read that I was supposed to reset the pc ip address...

I tried another similar product with poor results, but this works like a charm. Got it for $38.99 on sale, and it simply works. Now, I DID update the firmware before messing with it too much, but then the wizard setup got it rolling as a universal repeater. I now have great coverage all over the house with this and my old trusty WRT54GL.

I like everything about this item except the set-up instruction. I spent several hours reviewing the instructions and following them to the letter all to no avail. I then called Zyxel tech service and the tech walked me through the set-up steps in 5 minutes and voila, I was online. Now I have Wifi all around the house. So in the end it works great. I recommend this unit if you need to extend the range of Wifi in your home. Good signal, small with a powerful signal.

The product came on time, to get existing to comply to the log on can take sometime based on you security setups. Why can't XyXEL setup the end point to use any IP address? This should be easy to change on most windows setups, and if you had little to no security setup it would, but in today's world you need to lock everything down. Otherwise this product is easy to use and works great. The plug set to the side is also very nice for multi outlet use. I do find the power and transmissions speeds to be very good and it works well in video as well as data traffic. For the price the box is a great value. If you want to setup an enterprise system look elsewhere.

The setup procedure is not going to win any awards for being easy or user friendly. Here are a few tricks I learned:1) If your setup is exactly like one of the few shown in the "quick start" manual, then you may consider yourself truly blessed and you should have an easy time of it. Otherwise, set the quick start manual aside and use the documentation which comes on the included CD. The documentation on the CD is pretty good.2) The documentation I found on their web site is crude - don't bother going there.3) They use terminology a little differently than what I thought was common. When they say "Access Point Mode", it is describing what I think of as a wireless router. When they say "Client Mode," it is describing what I think of as a wireless access point.I am using the ZyXEL as a wireless access point. Essentially, the ZyXEL is a receiver, picking up the signal broadcast from my wireless router. I use one of the two ports on the ZyXEL to connect a device which requires a hardwired ethernet connection. When I figured out that I should have the ZyXEL in "Client Mode" and not "Access Port Mode", my setup was successful and relatively painless.Overall, their setup program works OK, but you have to set the IP address of your computer to a specific IP address, then enter another IP address in your browser window. Getting into the configuration tool is somewhat clumsy, but the tool its self isn't bad. Once configured, the device thus far has been working fine.

Most of the other reviews saying this thing is difficult to set up are right on target. In addition, setting this up to get its IP address via DHCP does not work at all.First, the unit won't even let you enable DHCP until you fill in a default gateway address. The default gateway address is blank, and unless you fill in an address compatible with the default subnet, you just can't get there. I pity anyone who's a newb trying to figure out what to do.Second, once you get DHCP working, it works great for a while and then, after about 24 hours, just quits working. I've looked at the DHCP server log and it looks like the problem occurs whenever the ZyXEL unit's IP address lease expires and it tries to get a new one. I've sent an email to tech support, if I don't get an answer in another 24 hours this thing is going back to Amazon.

Dropped connection with two different routers I tried. I had bought a new one in conjunction with this, and I had a good five minutes before the connection would drop or stall. I'm pretty good with networking, but this one had me scratching my head. I tried it for a few days since I bought it to use with my tablet. It wasn't worth losing the connection on the other computers though. I returned it.

The primary reason I bought this wireless bridge is to support 2 remote appleTV's to connect to my iTunes PC. If you reboot the AppleTV, it connects properly to the Zyxel access point. BUT, after you stop using apple TV (overnight, etc), the AppleTV goes into sleep mode. When it wakes up, it is unable to connect, and so you need to reboot it to connect properly.I tried resolving this with Zyxel technical support, three separate times, and also tried replacing the Zyxel access point. Neither worked.I recently replaced the Zyxel with an Asus RT-N12/B [...], and this issue has gone away.I plan on keeping the Zyxel in case I need it later as a wireless-to-ethernet client, but it is NOT suitable for use as a wireless access point if you are using apple TV.

Bought this on the strength of the positive reviews for the purpose of connecting up a Sony Blu-Ray player to my wireless, and with the instructions posted by one of the reviewers...but it turns out it wasn't needed. I'm not sure if they upgraded the firmware, but the default setup screeens worked perfectly for getting it configured. The only problem I had is that, since I generally hide my SSID, that made it difficult to connect up to my existing wireless network. When I un-hid the SSID, it connected up fine, and then I was able to hide the SSID again and it continued working.I'm using it both as a repeater and a client (for the Blu-Ray player) and it works excellently for both.

Mine was bought used "like new" but appeared to be new. Awesome price!!! You need to follow the directions to set it up properly... No foolproof installation disk included. I found that mine needed a firmware update once I got it connected to the internet. It seemed to be working fine, but I recommend the latest firmware for best compatibility & performance. Works like a charm. Using as a remote access point and repeater, so all I had to do when setting it up was select repeater mode. I recommend this item.

It only took a few minutes to set up as a wireless repeater, although i did have to give my laptop a static ip. It drops the internet connection once or twice every two days, but that can easily be remedied with a power-cycle. All in all the product was worth the money spent

I ordered the ZyXEL WAP3205 to connect to a PS3 which was not working nicely on my wireless network (too flakey for Netflix streaming). So essentially, I am using this in client mode so I can have a wired ethernet connection plugged into my PS3. I had read some reviews on how difficult this is to setup, but I found it fairly straightforward. I believe the software on the device must have been improved. After changing the IP address on my laptop to 192.168.1.3 and connecting my laptop to the device via the provided ethernet cable, I then browsed to 192.168.1.2 and the setup wizard came up. After changing my password, I chose client mode and it found my home wireless network and after entering my wireless network's password, the device reboooted and was immediately connected properly. I then plugged in my PS3 and connected it via a wired connection with no issues at all. Netflix streaming is now working perfectly. Great purchase - well worth the $.

Order this gaget to stream movies from internet to my TV, unless your a computer wizard don't order this device it has several modes built in, depending what you need you have to change mode, poor instructions not helpful at all, poor poor like I say if your not wizard don't bother, I had to return it

I purchased a rather expensive "wireless ready" Sony TV without realizing that the wireless adapter had to be purchased separately. Of course the Sony manual suggested purchasing one of their brands at $80. On a tip from another customer, I decided to try this instead. I ran the intial set up from my laptop computer before hooking it up to the TV. Since my home network is more complicated than most, the repeater was a little more complicated to set up, only because I had to change the IP address for the access point itself, but once I did that, it worked beautifully for my television and I have an additional network access point for other network ready equipment. My only complaint, and I'm sure it's just a personal preference, is that I found it annoying to have to pull up the manual on my computer to read about more advance steps instead of looking it up in the written manual, especially since I had to reboot my computer a couple of times. Anyway, so far so good. Am able to access streaming video from my "wireless ready" Sony.

Setup was very easy as an access point. I setup using http on a Linux laptop with no problems. Works great with WEP encryption. Some people have complained that the users guide is bad. I agree that the users guide delivered is sparse. The latest edition, downloadable from their web site, has been updated and is better. I congratulate them for updating their users guide.
