I bought this hard drive to replace the OEM hard drive in my 2010 13" Macbook Pro to increase my storage capacity from 250GB to 500GB. The product appeared to well-protected in it's packaging and arrived in a timely fashion. The hard drive was easy to install with the only caveat being it did not come with its own mounting screws, so I had to remove the ones from my old drive for this one (something rendered rather difficult by Apple over-tightening of the mounting screws in their manufacturing process). I did a clean install of Mac OS X Lion and reinstalled all my software and so far the product has been working with no issues over the past few days. The hard drive appears to be a great value for the price.The only reason this product does not get a full five stars is that it is significantly noisier than my old hard drive. Both hard drives are 5400RPM so I would expect them to have the same noise levels. The noise level for the product is not unbearable, but its not perfect either. I hardly even noticed my old drive whereas I certainly notice this one.

Took apart my Xbox 360 HDD case and replaced the 20GB HDD with this WD 250GB HDD. Plugged it in and all I had to do was hit "Y" to format the drive from the dashboard and now I have a working 250GB HDD on my 360.Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive's are currently going for $117 on amazon at the time of this review 10/20/11. So I saved a lot of money doing it this way.The process took me less than 5 minutes. You will need a special Torx #5 and Torx #10 screwdriver to remove the screws from the HDD case. You can search on YouTube for a video showing how to do it.If you don't have a old Xbox 360 HDD to upgrade I've heard of people buying just the Xbox HDD shell by itself on eBay for cheap.This Western Digital 250GB works flawlessly. Just plug and play. 5/5.

I bought this hard drive because my 40gb ps3 was already full. It was a very simple process to switch the hard drives i saw a youtube video on how to switch the hard drives and I was able to do so on my first try! Now I have a huge amount of memory space.

This is a reasonably nice SATA drive but it is just too noisy for my X60 tablet. I had hoped this would be a nice replacement for the original 60GB drive. Drive has a pretty constant noise level that is a lot louder than the OEM fujitsu drive. Sounds like a fan running. I need to use the tablet in low volume environments so I had to return the drive unfortunately. After the return I did some research on this drive and other 320gb drives and found that the WD is not the quietest or most power efficient. Comparing drive specs, the DBA rating of WD drives are 25-26DBA while many comparable drives are much lower like the toshiba which is 19 - 20 DBA or about 20% less noise. Power consumption for the Toshibas is also significantly lower in all modes than the WD drive which should provide better battery life. I ended up buying a Toshiba MK3276GSX 320gb which is about the same price online as the WD. This drive is super quiet, runs cool and scored a 5.7 on the windows experience summary compared to a 5.6 for the WD drive. The reduced noise and vibration reduction are significant and battery life is noticeably better. If you like a quiet laptop or tablet, with longer battery life then I urge you to do some research before you buy the WD drive. For a desktop or game console, noise and power are not issues so the WD should be fine.

After growing tired of constantly removing data from my MacBook's 80G hard drive, I finally decided that it was time to change out the drive and save myself some time. The Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 2.5 Inch, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD5000BEVT was rated highly and reasonably priced, so I ordered it from Amazon. That night, I backed up my drive using Time Machine, re-read online instructions for replacing the drive, gathered my Torx T8 and little screwdriver, then waited for the new drive to arrive the next day. I prepared for the installation by starting from a laptop which was turned off, and a couple hours after the new drive was removed from it's box, proceeded with the quick replacement. Once I formatted and set up the new drive, I was amazed at the speed (no longer working with tiny amount of available memory), the silence, and the reduced heat. I've since ordered a casing for the removed 80G drive and will have that one as an external source for storage and operation if necessary. I love my Western Digital external drive and now I'm very pleased with this internal one as well!

device was fine...it worked with no problems..... but there was no warranty info with the order I don't know if it is covered or not if it fails....plus it took forever to get the order (10 days) .....the pony express could have gotten it here quicker.

Wow, the prices went up on these... but when they were $55, I bought two, one for a MacBook White, the other for a MacBook Pro. No more carrying around external USB drives, they seem to be as fast/quiet as the drives they replaced. Popped the old drives into $10 external USB cases, and all was well.

Researched a lot of hard drives and decided to go with the Western Digital 320 GB hard drive model number WD3200BEVT. Received it in 2 days and installed it within 10 minutes give or take. Fired up like a charm and I reinstalled windows 7 on it. No problems!

Bought two Scorpio Blue 500GB drives and installed them into 2.5" external HDD cases (install time 1 min). Works on both my PC and MacBook Pro. Format and off you go. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Compact powerful storage solution that requires no external power source (USB powers the drive). Ideal for travelers who need quick data access or want a backup for important documents, music, movies or other media. The price has recently skyrocketed on these drives because of supply shortages due to flooding in Thailand. Expect prices to fall by 50% or more as supply normalizes near the holidays.

I bought this hard-drive 3 months ago to install onto my 60GB Playstation 3 and it works great. Did my research on which HDD would be best and it came down to this and the Seagate top contender, but after trusting my initial instinct, went ahead and chose WD. I've had no issues and would greatly recommend this for an upgrade to an older model PS3. Installation was incredibly easy and I was back up and running in 30 minutes.

bought this product to upgrade my 40gb ps3 it took a whole 3 min for me to swap them out and its working great I would recommend having a external hard drive to back up the original just because you have to format everything

I got this drive to upgrade the HDD in my early 2009 Mac mini. I chose this drive after seeing several posts online about people having good results with it in the Mac mini. It certainly works great in my Mac! It is really quiet; much quieter than the original Apple-supplied drive.There is a newer model of the drive available (WD5000BPVT) but it seems to get mixed reviews on Amazon and other online merchants, so I stuck with the tried and true older version.I also purchased a Vantec NexStar TX 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure. I put the new drive in the enclosure and used SuperDuper! to clone the original drive to the new one. This allowed my Mac to boot right up with the new drive installed. Then, after the upgrade was done, I put the old drive in the enclosure and use it as a portable drive.I couldn't be happer with this drive!

This is a standard 320 GB 2.5" SATA-2 hard-disk drive. I've had good luck with most of the major manufacturers, this was a good purchase for the price.It was used to repair / upgrade a small netbook that had a 160GB disk in.It works like a charm.It arrived on time and in good shape.Nothing stellar, nothing negative either.

I shopped around on Amazon for several days before deciding on this HD, and I can't say enough about how fantastic this product is.The price: phenominal. The speed: competative. The storage capacity: delightful.I upgraded my 2007 MacBook RAM and HD to support future editing projects with Adobe CS5 and everything has run incredibly smooth.Installation was a snap. After receiving my order my computer was up and running - including a new OS install - in less than an hour (visit youtube to find a number of step-by-step videos on how to install RAM and HD).Read several reviews complaining of noise issues, but I haven't noted any difference from the stock HD.I say this is a must buy for anyone looking to upgrade.

Great drive! Works perfect in my PS3 and now I never have to worry about running out of space. My old drive was a 40 gb and it seemed the system took up most of that. Now I have about thirty games installed with all the internet add ons and still have about 400 gb of free space. I can now add all my music and several movies if I want...love it!But don't let the install guides fool you, it is still a bit of an effort to get the drive formatted correctly. I had to have a computer service do it, either that or buy an external hard drive which I didn't need. Then I had to use a separate set of instructions to set up the drive. Not as cut and dry as all the online instructions indicated. If you are not good at computer tech stuff like me, then you will need help for sure!But bottom line, the drive is great! 500 gb is the max that the PS3 will recognize and it works perfect, I couldn't ask for better. For performance and functionality, I give it 5 stars.

Just got this in mail, and loaded into my Macbook. First impression on the drive: fast, and very quiet comparing to my old 160GB OEM drive that came with the Macbook. I was actually able to finish installing LightRoom 3 in 10 seconds, it took 20 or so on the old drive. Well let's see what the longevity is , I will report back later

I used this drive to replace the (constantly full 20 gig) drive in my xbox 360. I won't detail that process other than to say that the software tools and instructions widely available on the web are thorough, accurate, and easy to use. I had to use an older computer as my newer ones were incompatible with the software. This drive has been my primary storage device for over six months and has shown no signs of malfunctioning. I can now install as many game discs as will fit on the drive where the 20 gig was limited to a single installed disc and constantly in need of shuffling DLC packs and electronically distributed games to fit what I was playing. With this 250 in there, I have only uninstalled the games I have little to no intention of playing again. In 6 months of use, I have it maybe 30% full. The little bit of fiddling that had to be done was completely worth the $80+ I saved by avoiding the official drive upgrade.
