I bought four of this HD and they work great and very versatile. I used one to replace my MacBook Pro's HD and the installaltion was NO SWEAT, one to replace my PS-3's HD, one to replace my Dell XPS-2010's one of dual drive, and the last one as a backup and moving files among PS3, MacBook, and Dell. I am going to order two more as a mirror image for my Dell and Macbook Pro. I love it!One negative, why 35GB disappears (465 GB left) after formatting and where does it go?

This is a OEM hard drive. No pretty retail box or instructions just the hard drive in plastic and surrounded in foam. I bought this to upgrade my first generation 160gig black Macbook. I waited till my Apple Care policy expired so I wouldn't void my warranty that I never needed to use. Opening up the Mac and replacing the drive took less than 10 minutes (I took my time). I used my Leopard disc and Time Machine to reinstall the OS and all my applications and documents. Time Machine took 3 hours or so but everything has been recovered just as before. The hard drive is the same 5400 speed as my old Hitachi that shipped with my Mac so its just as quite. Very easy to install, and fast to get up and running. Now I have more than tripled my storage for less than 90 bucks.

This was so easy to install, I had it up and running in just minutes. I bought it for my Gateway T series laptop (I had dropped it and it was giving me "doomsday" warnings about imminent HD failure)This cost me less than $60 and I am now back up and running.A great buy!!!

I've had this beast for about a month and I have to say it works great for my Playstation 3. But I hear in about 13% of other reviews that laptop harddrives in general (like this one) only last them about 6 months. Im hoping I won't be in that unlucky 13% but if it does break soon all my game saves are backed up and my downloaded games are stored on my account which has nothing to do with the hdd. So it wouldn't be a huge loss for me. As far as performance goes it works at about the same speed as the 60gb hdd that came with my ps3 but it has WAAAAY more space Im lovin it!

I bought this hard drive to replace the stock hard disk in my 13" black MacBook. Removal and installation was a breeze. I formatted, re-installed the OS, and it works beautifully! It does not feel any bulkier, and runs just as quiet as before.

I had a Hitachi 200GB 7200 RPM hard-drive installed in my MacBook Pro. Everything was lagging and opening an application was beyond tedious. What's worse is that running Aperture, among other applications, was a lackluster waiting game. So much for the 7200 RPM!!! I installed this hard-drive last night, updated everything and restored my previous applications/setting. The end result is a machine that is finally running top-notch where the read/write capabilities are excessively needed. The drive is silent, efficient, and remains very cool. I'm quite happy with this purchase - I only hope it stands the test of time.

i bought this hard drive to upgrade my 160 gb hard drive in my Acer laptop. wasn't hard to install and it works great.no heat and also not that loud.i love it so far, it gets the job done.

This thing is great. Windows 7 rated it almost a full point higher than the hard drive I replaced, and now I'm not searching to free up disk space. There is a noticeable improvement, especially when looking through pictures.It formatted to about 465 gb, but I guess that's normal.I cloned my first drive and just swapped them out. Couldn't have been easier.

It's a good hard drive at cheap price, only after formattage, the 320gb become a 290gb, maybe it was because I did it while the drive was in the enclosure. if the first time I have put it into the laptop and I had boot the winxp cd to format it maybe I could have 300 or 310 gb. I know we buy a hard drive for the space but the quality is required. However I will buy another Western Digital Scorpio and I would recommand it.

I wanted to utilize the full power of my PS3, but with the 40MG hard drive that came with the PS3, I felt that I would not be able to store all my music and photos. It was super-easy to swap out the hard drive, and I am by no means a techie! I found simple instructions on the web, but it was so simple that I probably could have done the guy-thing and tried without. I did have to delete all the music and anything not vital from the original hard drive before doing the swap. I could not find a way to save what was on the hard drive to my pc. I had to back-up to my PSP. Luckily, I had an empty 8MG, so I didn't have to delete too much from the original hard drive. When beginning the back up, the PS3 will check with the PSP and tell you if there isn't enough room.The back-up took 20-25 minutes. The, with a small screw driver, you loosen 5 screws, swap hard drives, and start-up your PS3. The PS3 tells you the hard drive needs to be formatted. All you do is hit X to proceed, and that takes all of 30 seconds. Then you go to the back up utility of the PS3 and choose restore from the PSP. Another 20-25 minutes, and everything is back! Except now, you have a whopping 320MG to store whatever you want on your PS3!

I used this 500 gig drive to upgrade my one year old Toshiba Notebook that had a 200 gig drive. I used Casper software to "ghost" the drive in a USB enclosure and then switched them out. My previously owned Casper software ([...]) worked flawlessly and the drive swap was a snap. This is a terrific drive for the money and works perfectly in my Notebook.

i guess i was unlucky to order a lemon. this hard drive kept crashing and was difficult to format. i returned it to amazon and they sent me a replacement that seems to be working fine. a bit slow, so i would recommend the the 7200 rpm version. this HD is sata2 and my computer is still ata. i don't know if that slows things down. i spent a lot of extra time trying to use the first HD and then to return and receive a new one. amazon was prompt and actually sent me a non-bulk version of the hard drive. i use amazon frequently but if you order the wrong item, it becomes more work.

I purchased this hard drive as a upgrade for my Asus 1000H netbook. I will say for the money I don't think you will find a comparable drive to western digital. The drive is slightly louder than I'd imagined and generates more heat than the original. Overall however I would say this is a solid hard drive and a definite buy!

Excellent drive for the money. I cloned my old drive with the Apricorn Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit ($40 at Amazon). Then I pulled out my old drive and put in the new WD drive and everything is working perfectly! My system is exactly as it was with the old drive but with much more space. No need to reinstall the operating system, etc. and waste half of a Sunday reloading all my programs and drivers. The WD drive is very quiet and much faster than my old OEM drive. I know the specs show there are faster drives out there but this one seems very quick to me....and for the money, forget about it....I'd buy this drive again in a heart beat. Obviously it's an OEM product so there are no manuals, cables, etc but I think for most applications you won't need them.

i'm so glad i brought this for my PS3 i had the 40 GB PS3 not enough memory so i stumbled on this 320 GB hard drive i'm so glad i did more memory space i don't have to delete no more games or my videos Ihad no problems installing an easy 1,2,3 installation so for any of you PS3 owners whether you want to upgrade your 20,40,60,80, or even 120 GB PS3 this hard drive is for you.

Bought this to upgrade my PS3 HDD, the first one I recieved had some problems and was locking up soon after instillation. I got a replacement sent to me from Amazon and the second one works perfectly. I would strongly reccomend this to anyone looking for more space, you cant beat the price.

This Product was an amazing upgrade for my white macbook(2.4 gthz, 2 GB ram, 500 GB hard drive,Mac OS X 10.5.8 ,). I purchased this item because my hard drive crashed and apple was going to charge about $200 for a 250 gb hard drive installation, instead of paying that outrageous price I got this 500 GB Internal hard drive, which is twice a large as my old 250 GB hard drive And for about half the price. It was very easy to install every thing you just need the right Screw drivers (Phillips #00, Torx T8 And a penny).

i used this to upgrade my hdd on PS3 AND It worked great so far. i've had it for about a month so far. it was real easy to change out the old one for new one. go on youtube.com and search how to upgrade PS3 hard drive for videos. i put the old hdd in an enclosure to make it an external hdd. keep in mind that after formatting hdd you'll end up with about 290gb. the enclosure i used was the Vantec NexStar SX NST-285S2-BK 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure sold here on amazon. that was a bit tricky for you have to format external hdd to a FAT32 in order for PS3 to recognize it. it took about 10 days to ship which was pretty long.

Pros: Faster and bigger capacity than my original 45gb hard drive.Cons: Vista formats the laptop hard drive with ntfs around 220GB. If i have known that before I would have bought a bigger one.

I got this WD Scorpio Blue to put inside a Acomdata's Tango enclosure, but it doesn't work. The i got a CoolerMaster enclosure and it worked without flaw. Cheers to WD!. The 500GB is a MUST these days. I'm thinking of buying another unit and put them together inside a Raid-1 USB Enclosure. Yeah! It's slower than the Seaagte Momentus but who cares!. USB 2 doesn't help.

Used for storage in a PS 3. As usual received order quickly. A caveat to PS 3 installs ... The retaining screw and the screws that mount the old hard drive to the tray are of very soft metal AND very tight. I had to drill the heads off of 2 screws to get the drive out.

So my macbook (white intel based with tiger) died (gray screen would not boot up). I took it over to the apple store and saw the "mac genius". They were able to boot the computer up using an external drive but they would not give me any info only that they could fix it for 300 dollars. So I ordered this HD and installed it. And it came back to life. I am not a super techy person so I was very excited. My macbook is not even two years old. On the positive side the storage went from 120 to 320 for only 65 dollars, not bad! I would recommend searching the internet for a guide to help you when you reinstal the operating system.

The HDD came just in the Amazon box and a bag which was kind of odd but I think that's just because it's OEM, and it works great. And if you are looking for a PS3 HDD upgrade this worked great. I just backed everything up to my external WD HDD and popped out the old 60GB HDD and put the new one in. The PS3 formatted the new drive in about 10 seconds and then a simple restore put all my data back on. On the 400GB about 350-360GB is useable. It's great to not have to worry about having too many demos/videos on my PS3 anymore! Of course, WD never disappoints!

I replaced my hard drive in the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i, and this drive was a perfect replacement. Install is very simple, and for $60, the price is unbeatable. However, I do suggest combining the order with a drive cloning software. None of my backups restored properly on the new drive, thus requiring my purchase of the Apricorn EZ Upgrade Suite, an additional $40.My stock hard drive was far too small for Windows Vista, at 80 Gb. 4X the size, for only $100 total, is quite worth it. And now I can use the old hard drive as a backup.I have used the drive for a couple days now, and it is as quiet (if not more so) than my stock hard drive. It reads just as quickly as well. This upgrade is a MUST for Vista users with less than 100 Gb drive.

There's plenty of positive advice about this 500GB hard drive from Western Digital so I won't go on about the details. Just wanted you all to know that I bought this at the first month of the year and now in June, it's still perfect with no problems! It's quiet given WesternDig's patented process and have played games/movies all day with no overheat.Just as an FYI, if you have a wireless router like NetGear, you can open a Multimedia from your PS3 to your computer (first setup your Windows Media Player Network on your computer). I can view and download movies from my computer, onto my PS3 wirelessly!

Great Product. Used to upgrade my ps3 from 40GB to 320GB. Backed up my 40GB HDD on an external HDD, then switched out the new Western Digital one in. Had some problems because my ps3 kept throwing some error after trying to restore the ps3 from my external HDD. Found somewhere that if you just stop it at 98%-99%, all your game saves will be there but you might need to re-install some game data. For example, when i started to play The Show, the game loaded up but crashed when the HDD was accessed. So i deleted the game data for that game, and downloaded/reinstalled the update and everything worked fine including my saves.All in all, a great upgrade for the ps3. Just wanted to post about my problem with the external hdd just in case anyone faces the same problem. But as for the 320GB upgrade, its working great and highly recommended over the small 40/80 GB HDDs that ps3s originally come with.

I bought two of these, one for my macbook pro unibody 2.4ghz and one for my ps3 and both work quietly and fast. I havent had any vibration issues or noise problems with my macbook and the ps3 recognized and restored my saves and movies without a hitch. Western Digital is a very trustworthy brand in my opinion.

I installed this in my PS3 (replacing the original 40gig HDD). I have been using the upgraded system for over a month and it has worked great!!!The install took about 1/2 hour. I definitely recommend reading a number of different tutorials online. These are some of the steps that I took that made this HDD work for me.- Backed up my system to an external USB HDD.- Installed the HDD.- Used a USB Thumb Drive to install the update for the PS3 operating system. Make sure that it is placed in the proper directory on the Thumb Drive.- Formatted the new HDD for PS3.- Rebooted.All of these steps are in various tutorials online, but don't expect any one tutorial to tell you everything.

I use Virtualization on my laptop and the space requirements for my Virtual Machines was driving me crazy, I was compressing and writing DVD's all the time. With this 500GB drive, now I have plenty space for my documents, software, music, videos and Virtual Machines. The drive looks good, solid, and well manufactured. I hope it lasts for some years (because losing 500GB must be a very hard thing...hehe). I am thinking on buying another drive for using as an external unit for backups.

I just replaced mine 40GB PS3 drive a couple weeks ago with this and it worked fantastically.Just a few notes about the process. You *can* re-download anything you have purchased, but a better way is to do a full harddrive backup using the PS3 backup utility. I didn't have a spare hard drive or flash drive large enough to accomplish this, but I do have a 60GB 5th Gen ipod, and it worked fine. There are plenty of tutorials online that show how to do it, including a great one on youtube that helped me out.Two things to know if you go that route, make sure to sync all your trophies on all accounts before you backup, as all trophy data is NOT backed up. When you play each game for the first time after you backup/restore, it will reinstall the trophies on your local system and then you must re-sync to pull them back down from the PSN.Unfortunately, this will mean that trophies you got on games you rented or borrowed will never show up on your local PS3 system again (unless you re-get the game), but they still show on your PSN profile and factor into your overall ranking.Hope this helps.

The 80GB is too small for the PS3 if you plan on keeping demos and using it for music, photos, movies, etc. like I do. This takes 5 minutes to install in the PS3 (not including the time it takes to back up your ps3 data on an external drive and then restore the data- this takes a couple of hours). The actual swap out process though from this drive for the PS3 can't be any easier (just google it). The drive has proven to be fast, quiet and efficient, and there's no point in using a 7200 drive for the PS3. It doesn't make enough of a speed difference in that machine, so don't waste you money. How can you beat the price at 4.65GB/$1? As has been mentioned, you always get about 93% of the stated hard drive capacity in terms of real GBs with hard drives, so this comes to 465GB for this drive. Money well spent- I highly recommend it.

I got this drive for a mid 2007 white macbook as its stock 80gb hard drive was becoming full. I also purchased a external usb enclosure locally. Got the new hard drive (OEM packing means drive only in a plastic bag), put it in the external enclosure, used superduper to create a bootable clone, and placed the new hard drive in the macbook. Turned it back on and now there is a little more than 400gb free. The drive is very quite, and there isn't any noticeable vibrations. The performance seems adequate (there is a recent review on notebookreview.com comparing this drive the the 320gb 7200 rpm scorpio black and the performance was very comparable). I would recommend this hard drive to anyone who is need of more space for their notebook.

This notebook hard drive Western Digital 320GB Scorpio Blue SATAII 5400RPM 2.5IN 8MB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive WD3200BEVTarrived sooner than expected in perfect shape. It installed flawlessly and has performed very well. It is larger and faster than the original hard drive which had died. With our backup system we had our notebook back running in no time. Runs about as warm but more quietly than the original. Very happy.

I ordered this drive, and went through the painful install process on my Macbook Pro (Intel Core Duo). The drive was DOA. But of course, I assumed that I had done something wrong, so I went through the trouble-shooting process, which, if you're thorough, involves uninstalling the drive, putting back the original and booting up, then taking the MBP apart and RE-installing the WD drive, just to be sure I didn't have a loose wire or something the first time. After doing this TWICE, I realized that the drive was dead on arrival, and had to return it. Amazon does make it easy to return- for that I give them two stars. I *may* try again to re-order this drive and see what happens, but I'll have to schedule about 3 hours for the process, just in case. Ridiculous. If I can find a similar drive from someone else, I'll probably order that, instead.

So I originally bought this hard drive at local big box retailer with blue and yellow logos for almost $50 more than I paid from Amazon after I returned the first one. I used that savings to purchase the Apricorn EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL EZ Upgrade Universal Hard Drive Upgrade Kit, which allowed me to clone my old 80gb hard drive to this new 320gb hard drive without having to pay a local technician $75-$100 just to move the software. If you want to upgrade your laptop hard drive you'll need some way to connect it to the old one and instead of paying someone to do it, just use the upgrade kit. I'm thrilled with my new hard drive since the old one was slowing down as it reached its limit. It is quiet and easy to install, so I'd highly recommend it.
