I was running out of room on my stock 80 GB PS3, so I decided to upgrade to a size that would give me plenty of room. Not only was installing the hard drive into the PS3 easy, it seems just as quick and cool as the last one. Even though the 5400 RPM may lose a little speed to the 7200 RPM models, it draws a lot less power and stays a lot cooler, which is good for my needs and a console I need to last.

My Compaq Presario notebook had the hard drive fail. Although new PC's with these features fell in the under $400 range, I really didn't want to spend that much money to replace a notebook that was otherwise working well. I called a few local computer repair shops and the quotes over the telephone were just stupid $$. I am not a computer geek but am fairly handy so I thought I would try the repair myself. If I completely failed, I would not be out that much money.I ordered a full set of recovery discs from HP online that arrived in just a few days and I ordered a new hard drive and new RAM for the PC from Amazon.The install of the hardware was amazingly simple and the only tool needed was a small Phillips head screw driver. There are actually quite a few good instructional videos about the process on Youtube. The install of the operating system on the new hard drive was time consuming but not difficult.The only fly in the ointment was the RAM upgrade that I purchased. I bought a 4gig upgrade set and the original configuration of this notebook was 512K. The computer would not boot with both of the new RAM cards installed. After experimenting, I was only able to use one of the 2 gig RAM cards and one of the original 256K cards but this did get me 2.2gig of RAM, which did result in a faster machine.The end result was a notebook that has more hard drive storage, operates faster than before and I saved myself a boat load of cash. The hardware arrived quickly and as promised and I am once again a very satisfied Amazon customer.

This little drive couldn't have been easier to install in my PS3 and works like a charm. The price was great and it seems to perform just fine. Buy it!

Hard drive installed fine and with no problems,was as described. Replacement for a failed laptop drive and was back up in a few minutes. Would buy the same drive again.

I received the HD really fast and the packaging was great... nothing wrong with the item.I seem to have ordered a wrong HD for my 2005 laptop, so got to go back to Amazon (of course) anddo a better job this time.

I have an Acer Aspire One D250 netbook that came with a 160Gb hard drive.When I updated the OS on this little netbook to Ubuntu 10.04, the performance of the netbook literally went from DOG to RocketShip. I decided to permanently install Ubuntu, but unfortunately, I have a couple of Windows applications I still need, so I have to retain Win XP. This meant moving to a dual-boot environment, and to do that, I wanted a larger hard drive so I had enough room for both OS'es.I partitioned the 500Gb drive into 3 partitions; a FAT partition for Win XP, a FAT partition for a common area for data, and a Linux partition for Ubuntu. During the Ubuntu install, a 4th (boot) and 5th (swap) partition was created to facilitate the dual-boot environment. The hard drive works great in this environment.Normally, I would not recommend investing any money to upgrade a netbook. Netbooks are intended to be low-cost entry-level systems, primary for surfing the internet and email.But moving to Ubuntu improved the performance so much, dual-booting justified the larger hard drive.

I recently purchased this hard drive for my Dell Inspiron 1545. My other hard drive(320 GB) was damaged and was no longer working properly. I was a little unsure on the difficulty on installing and was unsure if it already had the holes drilled which were necessary for installing. I removed my bad hard drive and had this one put in within two minutes! Then I went through the very fun process of reinstalling everything including the OS. I am very pleased with this product and its performance. (The extra 180 GB over my old hard drive doesn't hurt either!) Great product and offered at a very fair price!

This was installed in a Dell XPS M1530 and it was soooo easy. The results are fantastic compared to the old POS hard drive. It's faster, quieter and I recommend it if you are looking for an easy replacement.

This SATA drive is a plus when it comes to adding more space to your existing netbook or labtop. The netbooks today have smaller drives,great "on the run" but they just do not have enough space! Adding the 320 Gb SATA drive was a plus in the memory area and its easy to install. Just Remove the old drive and wha la, easy as pie.

I'm using this with my PS3. Awesome price for the size of the drive. Install wasn't hard at all for the playstation. Isn't as quiet as I thought it would be, but I'll take a little extra noise compared to the stock ps3 drive.

I purchased this drive for my Macbook Pro, upgrading its 160 gb hard drive to this one because I needed more space. The installation and cloning process was simple enough, and when I began to use this hard drive, it worked liked a charm.After about a month of use, my computer slowed way down, and within 24 hours, the computer would not leave the gray screen when restarting, nor would it allow me to boot to anything, including the DVD drive. After taking it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and attempting to recover data from it from myself, it was determined that the drive had completely failed, taking all of my data with it and rendering completely unusable.While Western Digital made the replacement process easy and straight forward, I still lost all the music, video, and pictures I had accumulated over the past few years. Granted, I should have been backing up my data, but that does not excuse the fact that this drive stopped working after only a month. Based on the shining reviews of this product, I expect mine was only an anomaly, but it was still a bad experience none the less.I hope this product works for everyone else who buys it, and pray my replacement does not fail like this one did. But if you buy this or any other hard drive, please remember to back up your data, I made the mistake of not doing this and now I am paying the price.

I have used this laptop drive in countless systems. It is always a great upgrade for any laptop. The 500 gigabyte and 750 gigabyte models are great as well. Anything below 320 gigabytes is just not worth installing today...they will be too small in a matter of months.

The hard drive has a tremendous amount of space, and so far it's working very well. The only problem is not with the hard drive itself, but with the playstation 3 and all of the procedures you have to go through just to upgrade. Besides that, it works great.

Bought one to replace another WD drive that was about to fail, so far it works like its supposed to. For a drive I feel it gets a little hot(my opinion).BTW: Backup your data, unless you know how to use DD and have no problem with waiting 72hrs for the recovery to complete.

Western Digital 250 GB runs wuietly. Data write is good. It was easy to install. my computer runs alot better than before. i will recommend it. it also has good warranty. Nice drive! It would be nice if it runs at 7200rmp. This drive died within two months. I contacted amazon support they exchanged faulty drive with new. I recieved second drive at march 17, 2011. Now new drive makes clicking sound since april 13th. I need to replace hard drive again. My laptop does not boot windows at all. Very disappointed!

Bought this hard drive to use as an internal drive for my PS3. Install was very easy. Read some reviews regarding head parking issues with this drive causing game slowdown and stuttering, but have had no problems to date. Have installed and played multiple games and movies and have no issues. The stuttering problem seems to be associated with WD500BPVT which uses advance formatting that the PS3 does not seem to like. The WD500BEVT works great.

I had the first batch of 60 Gig HD PS3, and didn't really see myself getting a HD drive upgrade. A few weeks ago I find out that GT5 will run best with 10 Gig HD install, so I check to see how much room I have and realized I did not have enough. I searched for a HD that I felt would be good for awhile, and came across the Western Digital one for around $55.00. I read another review that said that they had also gotten it for their PS3, and it was perfect so I decided to order it with a 20.00 code (brought the price down to around 35.00). I got free shipping, and Amazon said it would get here around Oct.7th, and then they upped that to Oct.2nd. Yesterday Sept.29th the HD was delivered, and it couldn't have been easier to install (most of my problem was trying to get the screws out of the old HD without stripping them). I now am all set for GT5, and for that matter any other game that requires an install. Once again Amazon did not let me down.

I purchased a hard disk drive on Jan 3rd and received it around January 10th. When I tried to install the device on February 8th and discovered that it was the wrong model (even though I had the right Model# on the order), I was told that I only had 30 days from the ORDER date to return, I was 5 days late and Micro Platinum kept my $46. Certainly not doing business with them again and I will look for alternatives for Amazon who also wouldn't stand behind the A-Z guarantee.

I purchased this HDD to replace the 40gb in a PS3 I had acquired. I only had the PS3 for about a week for testing before I sold it, but I was very pleased with r/w speeds of the drive. It ran very quiet and relatively cool. Much cooler then original 40gb that I had replaced. If you are looking for a simple hassle free PS3 hdd upgrade, then look no further. I purchased this drive to install in a Panasonic ToughBook swappable hard drive kit. The packaging the drive came in was the simplest I've every seen. just enough to suspend the drive in a small box. Very simple to open. The drive works flawlessly and is much faster than the original 80GB drive that came in the laptop even though they are supposed to be the same speed. The computer auto-recognized the drive and the OS install was simple because of it. Definitely would recommend the drive to anyone.

I bought this drive for my Lenovo notebook, I was looking for to have a large space (since the original came with 160GB!), so this was a perfect fit... after a use of almost a year I can say that this drive is good.. however I have a problem with my new installation of Windows 7, since from time to time it appears to frozen... the hard disk appears working (since it makes a lot of noise), and after a minute or two it all backs to normal... so it appears that the hard disk does something.. but besides that problem I run without any other problem, the noise is not too much (can be lower) and also I don't have any heat problem so far... so this is a good drive, just I don't put 5 stars due the problem of the freeze of minutes that happens at least once per week..

After reading how easy it was to upgrade your PS3 hard drive, I decided it was worth me trying it. Just using some of the online guides, changing out the hard drive was super fast and easy, took me less than two minutes (make sure you use the right guide for your style of PS3, as they did change some of the design elements every couple of years). The actual transferring of system data was the only long part. I wanted to be able to use my PS3 for something other than just games. I now have every episode of Top Gear (UK seasons 1-15) uploaded onto my PS3 and about 140GB of music with about 200 more GB of space. To me, well worth the price.
