GREAT option for those who wish to upgrade the Hard Drive of their Playstation 3! I ordered mine from Amazon.com Monday morning (Nov. 3rd) and received it in excellent condition by UPS Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 5th) w/ standard shipping to NC. Great price and shipping from Amazon.com!I have the 80GB MGS4 Bundle and not that many demos, videos, mp3s, and pictures to start with, so I figured it was a good idea to upgrade after reading the Reviews listed here and on other PS3 web-sites. 320GB would be perfect for me I figured for now and in the forseeable future. I am NOT a "computer tech" or even anyone with the slightest experience in working on computers/gaming systems, so this item sounded like just the thing for me (AND IT IS). By only using pages 16-18 in the PS3 Safety and Support guide, a simple 4GB USB to back up my data, and a small Phillips head screwdriver, I successfully backed-up, removed, changed-out, re-installed the hard drive(s) of my PS3 and restored all of my PS3 data with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever! Couldn't be any easier, in my opinion... While I'm sure there are other hard drives out there for the PS3, this one is perfect for me and my PS3 needs. A BIG thanks goes out to all of the previous Amazon.com Reviewers for the info!

I bought this to replace the stock hard drive in my 2008 Macbook, and while it does work, it took some ... finessing.Essentially, Leopard has a hard time recognizing this drive. After swapping HDs, I booted into Disk Utility , which showed no trace of the new hardware. A few minutes poking around on support forums showed that this isn't an isolated problem, but people have found a few workarounds. I took my Macbook to the Apple store, where they were able to do a network boot into Tiger (which spotted the HD right away) and format the drive, clearing the way for a standard Leopard installation. This is probably a less-than-ideal solution for most people, so you might want to keep that in mind.Having said that, this a Leopard problem, not a Western Digital one, so I can't justify knocking points off its review score. Once it's up and running, it's a very nice hard drive at a great price.

I'm not sure why some reviewers found it noisy. I installed this in my Thinkpad x61s and cannot hear it at all. It is fast and quiet. I would have rated it five stars except that it comes with zero support and zero documentation. For non-techies, details on how I cloned my original c drive to the Scorpio and then swapped the drives are posted here:[....]

I had originally an 80gb hardrive for my PS3 and after downloading episodes of Heroes and 24 from the PS network, that hardrive filled up pretty fast. So after surfing on amazon I come across this bad boy and my jar dropped after seeing the number 500 but, I was even more shocked by the price for this, a $100, now that's a steal compared to the store price of $150-$200. If your planning to upgrade your PS3 hardrive and your like me, likes to watch tv shows from his PS3, then this is for you. Also, you can just get this hardrive just for the hell of it so you don't have to worry about space ever again. BOOSH!!!

The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because I haven't had it in my ps3 long enough to see if it has any sort of problems down the road, but as of right now it's great! Of course when you install it you'll see that it says 298Gigs not 320Gigs, for those that don't know that's just because they are counted in a base of 2 [binary] not in base 10 like the manufactuers do. Though you're getting the same amount of HDD space pretty much, so don't let it make you freak out!Asside from that I love it. Great size that should last me for quite some time. I also put the old 60gig HDD into an external case and use that which is wonderful. So if you're looking to ugrade your ps3 [like I did] this is a great buy, and best to do it with the hdd+external enclosure combo!

It fits the macbook pro perfectly with no problems at all. I installed it myself and all I had to do was purchase a few screwdrivers (~$20) and I upgraded my laptops hard drive from 160 gigs to 500 gigs. If I had upgraded the memory from apple it would've cost me so much more!

This is a really easy install to upgrade your PS3 if you know 2 things:1) You will need a #0 Philips head screwdriver.2) Download the latest update (in my case 2.60) from the Playstation website to a disc or flash drive.It is extremely easy to strip the screws with the wrong size screwdriver (guess how I know...)Apparently there is also a difference in some 40G systems from all the data you first run into on the web about changing hard dives. It is not as simple as swapping out and then hitting the X-button to format. Mine asked for the update media to be inserted first, then hit select and start to proceed. It then proceeded fine, finishing in about 20 minutes. Not difficult, but it might save you some stress to know that it may be a little different from the instructions you usually see on the net.Otherwise, it works great, and I highly recommend the simple upgrade.

As many have stated, this is a great upgrade for your PS3. What on earth could you do with 500gb is beyond me and that is part of the charm of this product. You'll never have to worry about space again.It should be easy to do right? Simply take out the old one and put this baby in and your good for a re-format session right? Not quite. First you're going to need to download the latest firmware updated unto a CD or DVD through your computer(At the time of this review its update 2.6) Then after you replace your HDD the systam will give you a notice about incompatability upon boot-up. Insert the media with the update into the slot and press select+start. This will allow it to reformat to your new 500GB PS3. This is a great idea if you're planning on installing another OS.

I really like this drive but, I can't play music and work in MS Office my laptop will lock up. I didn't have this problem with my other hard drive. I got this because my other drive started clicking.

This is a review of the 500GB model. I'm not sure why Amazon has lumped all the different sizes into the same review pool since performance and longevity will potentially vary by size.Anyway, regarding the 500GB model, I'll keep this short:Pros: Whisper quiet (actually not even a whisper); fast; low energy consumption; cost effective.Cons: None.

What can I say, this is a great product. Perfect for my laptop because it provided much needed space.Just a heads up, there are no user manuals or warranty information because this is an OEM product. It comes in a plain box. I'm just warning people because I noticed in some reviews of the product complaints about this very thing.If you are looking to upgrade your laptop or even PS3, this is a great purchase for you.

got this for my ps3 it works great no problem at all instalation was easy. i recommend it to anyone that wants to upgrade their ps3 you get around 298gb after formatting it on your ps3. in all it is very quite and worth the price. and you have alot of space to download all the demos you want and full downloadable games as well from the ps3 store.

Pros:1. Quiet and Fast: Have seen 25 MB/S Transfers2. Have not crashed yet :)3. Cool operation. Cooler than my Hitachi Travel Star 7200.Cons:Obviously slower than 7200 drives for sustained transfers. However, does not visibly impact performance.Other Thoughts:Amazon packet the product pretty good, however, I think packaging was not perfect. The plastic cushion was on the hard side rather than agile.

This product has been great so far, I used it to upgrade my PS3 HDD from 80GB, the HDD is great and is so far very fast and quiet, I can't hear a beep out of it nor it spinning up for that matter... its been almost a month now, and I don't have any complaints at all... Great value.

First drive arrived DOA, many many bad sectors when formatting it. Returned to amazon and ordered second one (no idea why it was return for refund and order a new one verse them just shipping one)... Anyway, the second drive arrived in good condition and seems to work just fine. Runs nice and cool and is quiet.

Like many of the other reviewers here, I bought this to upgrade my hard drive space in my Sony PS3. The whole process of swapping the hard drives is very easy. Took me less than 5 minutes.After putting in the Western Digital hard drive, my PS3 asked me to have the latest firmware update on a storage device to be connected to it via USB. After my PS3 finish formatting the HDD it shows 412 out of 465 gigs available. I am sooo looking forward to downloading tons of stuff from PSN! For a week now I have no problems at all with the Western Digital HDD. Highly recommended if you need more storage space for your PS3!

If your looking for a 320GB Hard Disk Drive for your playstation 3, this is it. Works perfectly. It doesn't matter if the RPM is 5400 or 7200. The faster speed really isn't needed. Buy this one and you'll save money. Don't forget to backup your material.

Hi,I bought it for my MacBook, and the capacity is more than enough for a student/personal use. It's quite fast, and never had any problems with it (I've had it for 1 year and 1 month). Western Digital is a very good brand!

I purchased this 320gb drive for my PS3 back in march and to this date it works perfectly. Installation took no time and effort. Even after downloading games , music and pictures I still have 250gb left. Not bad for a $60 investment.

Like many reviewers listed here, I purchased this HDD to upgrade my 40gb PS3. I've never done any surgery on a computer or gaming console, so I was a little worried I might have some trouble with it. Turns out it was an extremely simple process. Back up the files, take out the old hard drive, pop in this new one, follow the instructions on the screen and boom, I now have a monster of a PS3.This HDD came packaged in a nice shock proof box and runs as smoothly as my old 40gb did. After it was formatted for the Playstation, I ended up with just under 300 gigs, with about 270 of those free to be used. A huge upgrade over the 37 available I previously had.If you're looking to upgrade the HDD in your PS3 and don't want to pay more than $75, this is an outstanding option. I recommend it 100%.

Worked great. The only problem I had was that it wouldn't boot with my old seagate hardrive in the primary bay and this drive in the secondary bay of my HP DV9000 laptop. So I used an external USB enclosure to clone the drives and use the new 500gb drive as the boot drive.P.S Acronis Migrate didn't work either. I had to use Acronis True image. Beware!!! uninstalling Migrate software made my vista OS unbootable. I had to look for a fix on the internet.

I bought this for a Core Duo Mac Mini after researching what technology was in use. As this drive was an upgrade in both cache and access time (due to higher RPM), the system (combined with a 512MB->2GB memory upgrade) runs much better--and it has space to spare. The 80GB that the system came with was nearly full, what with our iPhoto and iTunes collections growing over the years. The hardest thing about my upgrade was opening the Mac Mini--this harddrive worked as advertised.

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 2.5 Inch, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD5000BEVT Works well in Lenovo Idea Pad with 10.2 inch screen 2.5 gigs of ram and vista operating system the little laptop out does my other systems that I thought were great. We upgrded from the 160 gig to this 500 gig drive. This hard drive is quiet.

The drive has a good reputation, but mine was dead on arrival. It spun up, but could not be written to.I tried again with another of the same model. Things looked better initially, quick format worked fine... I set it up as my laptop's boot disk and thought I was set.I decided to give it a good test, and tried to up fill the disk. After a certain point the disk started clicking like mad, the laptop hung and then bluescreened. I took the disk out and tried a full format on it. At 77% complete, the disk clicks like mad and format can't make progress.Very, very disappointing. This goes back and I'm in the market for some other manufacturer's product.

I was initially intimidated by the prospect of replacing my PS3 HD, but I'm so glad I went through it. This HD works brilliantly. The installation literally took 30 minutes. I went from 20 to 450 gigs in no time flat and boy did I need that room. My only complaint is that you don't get the full 500G (for some strange reason). Regardless, I now have plenty of space for all my new games and downloads.

I bought this Hard drive for my ps3 40gb, of course 40gb was far! to small. Everything about the hard drive is great! my only gripes would have to be about how hard it was to deal with the original hard drive in the ps3 which should be more of a complaint for the ps3 than the actual hard drive. Since install hard drive has worked great! I have noticed some issues with video sequential playback, it seems to take a few seconds longer to load videos, but i think that is due to the number of videos that I stop and start on my ps3. Overall great buy with no regrets, just have a dremel on hand for the install.

a 60 GB HDD on my macbook was KILLING ME. I Finally just upgraded to this 500 GB HDD and I couldn't be happier. The drive is pretty quiet but sometimes it gets a little noisy. Which I usually have on music so I can't hear it. I mean its very faint to be honest, but I would prefer near silence. Anyway if you need a huge HDD in your laptop or PS3 I would definitely go with Western Digital.

I have to say, after doing considerable research on upgrading my 60GB PS3, I choose this hard drive above all. It's very easy to install, and was damn near the same exact price of the 250GB HDD (made by the same company, which is now $5 more than the 320gb at the moment for some odd reason) that I was contemplating putting in. So, yeah, you're getting 100 extra gigs at the cost of nothing. Awesome deal, can't believe how easy it was to take out the old hard drive and put this one in. There's also no need to do anything with the HDD if you plan on using it as a PS3 HDD substitute. It'll format it to what it needs and everything.Fantastic product. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to upgrade their PS3's. You won't regret it.

My Macbook Pro recently gained a little pooch, those jeans we bought just a few months ago started getting tight, and I had to let out the belt a few notches. So I started hunting for a new drive.Being a faithful WD Customer, I decided I would give their internal laptop drive a try. I've had several other products of theirs that haven't screwed me over yet. I've had this drive a good month and a half, and I haven't had any troubles in terms of crashing or weird behavior. although, it's always a good idea to backup, no matter how great a drive is. I'll be sure to update this review in the coming months with any changes.Here's some of the reasons I bought this drive:#1. My Current HD was full, or very near, and once this drive was up I had a good 200 GB of space. That's a Smickle-pickle load of space for a laptop.#2. WD is generally a reliable brand, I haven't had any problems with them, and their internal and external hard-drives get very good reviews, especially compared to competitors products.Some might be concerned whether this is for laptops or not: I was new to HD's and had to do quite a bit of research. To clarify, Yes, this is compatible with laptops. All 2.5 IN" Drives are.I Haven't had any problems with heating up, either. Macbooks tend to run hot, so I was concerned about this issue. I have maintained about the same temperatures, give or take. It almost feels quieter, but that might just be my imagination, I don't have anything to prove it. The point it, I didn't notice it was hotter or louder than my original drive.All in All, I'm very pleased with this drive and will keep all of you updated. Peace Out, and keep this in mind if your computer needs to undergo a gastric.

I had bought this hard drive recently to replace a missing hard drive on a PS3(Bought a PS3 without one online). It is already formatted to the FAT32, so all you need to do place it in the PS3 and format it (you may need to install the update from Sony's Official Playstation Website, so if you have any trouble just go to their website and follow the online instructions on replacing the hard drive.) After that, the system shows about 293GB. Also, the Hard Drive is very quiet, hardly hear anything at all.I recommend this particular one to people who are looking for a hard drive to replace the one that is on their PS3.

i just upgraded my 160gb hd to this 500gb hd in my black macbook and i immediately noticed an increase in speed. my xbench score also went up 15pts from 110 to 125. the hd did come in a oem type box instead of a regular retail box but i didnt mind, it was packaged very well. the hd was sealed and shrink wrapped inside a box that keeps it from moving around. a highly recommended upgrade for your mac if you're running out of space... now i can keep all my videos(170gb) on my mac!

My grandson's PS3 only worked for 3 mo. We contacted Sony and they wanted $150.00 to fix or replace it. I started checking online what type of drive it had etc. I priced around and found Amazon had the best deal. It also gave me input on how well the drive I selected would work in his PS3. I ordered it and it came within the time stated. It took all of 10 min to install and now he's playing again. With shipping it was only $80.00, alot less than Sony. I really appreciate the detail Amazon goes to so you not only have the product but can get info on how it has worked for others and install issues if any.Thanks from Grandma, I'm a hero now.

I bought this hard drive to replace the 60gb in my PS3. Install was quick and easy. Only problem I had was the infamous screws that were already in the PS3. After that the install was a breeze. The hard drive is quiet, and I swear it's even faster than the hard drive that was already in my PS3, which is a Seagate btw. It's been over a month now and I have experienced no problems what so ever. Great Purchase if you want extra space on your PS3 (which you will need so stop fighting it and buy a hard drive already, lol).

I'm assuming that I must have just received a faulty unit. The drive worked great for about 2 or 3 weeks, then suddenly had sporadic errors reading and writing. After attempting to install a fresh operating system and failing, I'm returning this for a new one. I really hope this was a fluke issue and my second drive will work better. I've had problems with Western Digital drives failing in the past, so I don't have a high regard for the company.

I bought this for my 40gb Ps3 and to installation wasn't a breeze because the 4 screws connected to the hard drive was too tight and i almost rounded one screw but was able to take it off by applying pressure on the opposite side where the other screw was,and unscrewed the screw . Overall the switch was a success. To me i don't hear a difference with the 40gb toshiba hd and the 320gb hd but at least i got more memory and was worth the money paid. And parcel pool shipping from Tulsa OK to Kahului HI was 8-9 days when it was actually delivered by USPS . But it was worth it because it was free shipping.

I was a little concerned when I purchased this product because another reviewer with a Macbook said that his install required a trip to the Genius bar. My Macbook is no longer under warranty to I try to avoid trips to the Genius bar. Anyway, I was able to successfully install and restore from Time Machine with this hard drive. No problems, no challenges, no issues. I highly recommend for anyone else with a Macbook.

I bought this drive to replace my broken 40g PS3 drive. Worked like a charm, and the fan even spins up less than it did with a 7200rpm drive I tried first.
