It gives very good picture quality. Compare to my cheap VVME V01(B), I can see the pixels clearly in my wall which I am not happy about it. Picture size is small from 18ft distance.It did not give me the movie theater experience instead I felt watching movie in big TV or computer screen. Also HDMI detection is not working sometimes. I had to disconnect and connect again. I need movie theater experience so I am returning it and going for other viewsonic projector.

This projector was not at all what I was expecting. The quality is poor and the remote does not really work. It has a blue tint on everything projected.

Great little projector. Great contrast ratio and lumen count. Comparable to some 3 chip dlp projectors in the 1k range. There is a fair amount of pixel grid but overall a great projector for the price.

it is really really good for movies and tv showes and stuff like this for games there is a small input lag but sometime u dont notice it , for everyday computer using isnt ideal i give it a 4 out of 5

I took a gamble when I ordered this projector and this is my first one. What I can tell by my experience with this project (had it for over a year) is that the quality seems extremely well for the price you pay. I have no complaints on this projector and I use it almost every weekend (backyard movies, inside movie theater, gaming, ect.). I would recommend this projector to anyone who wants to start off slow and not jump right into expensive projectors area.

I have had this projector for almost a year now. We enjoy watching movies and football on it as well as some TV. I have it set up on 100" screen. Picture quality is good not the best but over all for the money you can't beat it. It's super bright so even when the lights are on you still get a good picture. If you sit right in front of the screen you can see the pixels kinda but that's like 2 feet away. 4 ft back it's very clear and really gives you that movie theater at home.

if your looking to spend some reasonable money on a good projector this is the projector for you. I love this projector, and I haven't experienced the best of it yet. Good advice though, it is good to have enough distance in the room to really appreciate it. My old room was average size and it still projected solid quality against my wall. My new room is shorter distance, but the wall is white which is recommended for the best quality. In my opinion this is better than getting a big screen hd TV. If you have the space to project it and enjoy watching movies at the best value.... Buy this!!

Make sure you get speakers though because the sound is not good on the projector alone.

Over the last 12 years I've owned 4 Optima DLP projectors. I burn through these business models cause I get them cheap as free and don't mind changing the expensive bulbs when the units are so darn cheap. I finally sprung for an actual home theater unit and I did quite a bit of research. I was very unpleasantly surprised to see that this 720 model is a pixilated mess. From 15 feet away I can almost count the pixels across the length or height if the screen. I will say that it is a very bright but the pixels do NOT fade into the picture as you watch the film, they stick out like a sore thumb. I wish the screen would be clearer but I guess I either have to go back to burning our business projectors which have much clearer resolutions, or spend the thousands a true 1080 projector gets. The built in speaker is atrocious, unless you are literally living in a closet, do yourself a favor and hop on Craigslist, get an old 5.1 or 8.1 receiver and do it right. I can't imagine actually using the tiny built in speaker for sound on such a large format screen...?? I wish it had no speaker and they put the money the speaker system cost into a better resolution. The pixels really ruined it for me but I'm told all the projectors in this price range do that. If that's true I guess this is the best bang for your buck. I haven't had success in getting the 3D glasses to work either so I'm overall pretty frustrated with this unit. Another helpful tip is that this projector seems to like the distance of about 13-17 feet (using the zoom and focus which is a must in whatever unit you end up buying! Make sure it has zoom!!!!). That seems to be the sweet spot on my 108" screen. best of luck - Joshua

First, this is a great projector for the price. I paid somewhere around 350 for it, and was excited to see what kind of picture quality I'd get from it as many of the reviews raved about the high quality. Well, though it's a good price for what it is, do not expect to get anywhere near HD quality. I immediately noticed the pixels at my 11 ft viewing distance. It's bright, and still a good picture, but not nearly as clear as some reviews led me to believe. The 4 stars come from the price/ease of use/3d option (haven't tried yet)/and HDMI connection as opposed to the similar priced projectors you'll find for presentations, etc. This projector could work just fine for movies and games.

We have friends who own an Epson basic projector, with the same 800X600 resolution. This is a better picture, but it may have only been because we were able to use the HDMI connection from a blueray player, whereas the Epson we could only use the VGA connection.

Spending several hundred dollars on a projector and expecting excellent clarity, then immediately noticing all the pixels, wasn't satisfactory to me. So I returned this projector and purchased the PJD7820HD. Which sucked, cause it was 650 compared to 350. But don't be misguided, the quality improvement was remarkable. I actually have to move to a few feet away from the wall now to see pixels...the 7820 definitely delivers a more HD picture.

I don't want to persuade anyone to spend the extra money to get the 7820, as I'm quite the frugal person. Go with the 5134 if you find it at a good price......and if you can be ok with a less than HD picture. Dang you, HD, I wish I'd never seen you. :) Hope this is helpful.

Doing me well so far. Connected it to my Apple TV and watch Futurama or American dad on Netflix to fall asleep. You can tell I'm used to falling asleep to adult swim, which I don't bother with cable anymore. Thanks Netflix!

The high number of rave reviews for a $350 home cinema projector left me skeptical. I was sure someone was cramming the review board here. I bought it anyway 'cause $350 doesn't sting too bad if it turned out to be bogus. Now, I have sampled a few expensive 1280 X 800 projectors for movie watching and I can say that this 800 X 600 "lo-res" projector blows them away. I was very surprise of how nice and bright it was with sharp focused vivid colors. Great contrast with crisp 720p wide screen as good or maybe better than my 42" LCD flat panel. Bad speaker sound but who uses the speakers on the TV these days anyway. It has a headphone jack (audio out) in the back and I just plugged in a set of headphones. You could also plug this into your home audio system which will amp it up. The projector does not get hot like others I have tested. I ended up watching 3 different movies to test it all out. A few things you should know. This has a 4:3 (800x600) viewable area. This means that the wide screen box fits inside the 4:3 box which means that if you want a 50-55" inch HD TV equivalent you'll need to place the projector about 8-9 ft from the wall or screen. You can place it closer but of course you'll get a smaller picture. The zoom is almost non existent. I would definitely buy this instead of a new 720p TV.

If you are using the projector for laptop presentations its still nice and bright and colors are great but text and numbers aren't as crisp because the video in laptops these days like to use a minimum 1280 X 800 resolution settings. If you set the resolution on the laptop at 800x600 the text is crisp as can be but your Excel program will only show 1/2 of your toolbar.

I will be using the projector for presentations as well as movie watching so I'm sending the projector back in exchange for the $500 ViewSonic PJD5533w which is EXACTLY the same except it has a native 1280 X 800 resolution. The laptop text should look great AND I can also completely fill my wall with a movie image with the projector at 8-9ft away from the wall. If, for some reason, the new projector doesn't produce the same bright sharp movie image I will send it back and repurchase the original as the text on presentations isn't that bad. I hope this helps.

ONE MORE THING: The projector reviews from the PC MAG site are completely subjective and I would take their advice with a grain of salt, ie; I don't understand at all how they gave this projector a negative review for image quality and raved about the image quality of other projectors which in my opinion don't even come close to this $350 800x600 Viewsonic.

First and foremost, this projector projects a sharp, clear image. It worked even in the daytime and even on surfaces that weren't dedicated projector surfaces. We hitched it to a computer with an HDMI cable, and it just worked---no elaborate setup. The controls are quite intuitive. You can adjust the picture for different viewing angles, and focusing is easy. It comes with a remote, which is also easy to use (and batteries were included) We used it to watch streamed movies, and we also played a video game projected, which was fun. The internal speakers aren't great, but that's not really something we were looking for, so we didn't care. It doesn't do full 1080p HD, but it does do 720p with a nice picture quality. It comes with an adjustable leg to put it at various heights. It's great that its refresh rate is 120Hz, which means there are more frames per second than standard 60Hz TVs. This means more a more fluid, movie-like experience. It's light-weight, but has a sturdy feel.

Overall, we were very pleased with this projector. My son has wanted a good projector for a while, and this met all his requirements. I'd certainly recommend it.

I bought this for the price...and it has a decent picture and it does appear to have more vibrant colors than my 720 p projector,,,the color was good; but the problem I have with this projector is that the picture is still not as sharp as you would expect from a 1080 p projector..and you have very little room for adjustments to make it sharp( about an 1/.8th of an inch play on the ring adjuster that fits around the lens);.
if I had it to do over again I would have gotten one with more more power,..but that about another 600. to 700. dollars that I didn't have at the time...but I like the picture enough to enjoy movies...but it is my wife that says .".it sure looks blurry for 1080 p..lets just watch this on the tv"... that is 1080 p...so that's my dilemma the picture is bright and good decent for the price...

Using this projector with a 9' wide x 6' high screen and figures on screen are crips and clear at 16' out from screen.

Amazon ,brilliant delivery, arrived by 8am next day, paid £399.00 also registered for free DVD and 2 pairs of 3d Glasses, superb picture and 3d viewing, bought 3rd party 3d glasses to start with, synced with projector straight away, only £18.00 for 2 pairs, again from Amazon, worked perfectly, projector is a little bit louder than my 720p Optoma, but not noticeable once watching a film. even managed to sort Onkyo 1007 amp to sort 3d out, even though it says it does not support.

This lamp fit perfectly in my projector (PJD5134). It takes a little more work to replace the bulb than it would be to replace the lamp assembly which costs almost twice as much. If you are ok with digging a little further into your projector, this will save you money.

Excellent buy at this price.
Still a little too noisy but not compared to an Epson 5200 which I returned.
Picture is fine on Eco mode and you get increased lamp life and presumably it uses less power too.
I bought mine about 3 weeks ago and it contained the derided 250 3D glasses. However if you purchase this from Amazon between 06/11/2014 and 31/01/2015 you can get, for free 2 pairs of the later 350 3D glasses, a film (not 3D strangely) and a chance to win a trip to Dubai.

Awesome !! Absolutely love it.. Been able to use it with out TV, satalite, computer, and will use with Xbox once we get the right cable...great picture quality and that is with just using it with a white sheet hung on our wall...pucture is great even when we have the lights on..a few months back I ordered a surround sound speakers that can be used with out TV , Xbox, and computers, I run out sound through this and it totally give the effect of being at the movies...

At this point I don't have not one thing negative to say...we received the product very quickly..

I can't say enough about this projector, I have no experience with any type of projectors so I was a little intimidated on what to expect. This came during the day and my husband wasn't at home so of course my curiosity got the best of me and I opened the box thinking I was just going to check it out and see if I could get it to work. Well within 2 min it was up and running and projecting the movie Run Down on my dinning room wall. I could not believe how easy this was to setup. It was as simple as using 1 HDMI cable plugging it into my Blue Ray player and the projector and presto movie time. When my husband came home he was amazed it was up and running. Our first night we built a screen with Carl's black out screen and PVC and tested out our Wii gaming system on it. I can not brag this up enough, I am a women so I usually read all the directions before even touching something but this was so simple, I didn't read anything or watch the disc, I may now but it was so easy it wasn't even needed.

This is such a user friendly projector with an outstanding picture. I am so happy with this purchase - our little group couldn't swing a high end projector but this does all we need and then some!

If I knew I could get such a great picture with this projector, I would have done this a long time ago! I'm extremely happy for the cost. I did additionally purchase a speaker, a 20 ft audio, a HDMI cable, HDMI hub and ceiling mount. I use it with ROKU and DirecTV projected onto a blank white wall. I have a 6 x 8 ft picture that is great. Maybe next time I would like Bluetooth (to eliminate speaker cables) or more HDMI outlets (so I don't have to switch inputs) but I have to do it with my TV so really not a big deal. All in all, I have a ridiculous TV set up in my man cave for less than $500.

The projector is surprisingly quite good.

PROS:
It's decently bright (although it doesn't seem quite "3000 lumens bright").
It gets hot, but not as hot as some other projectors.
The fan is definitely audible, but the noise isn't annoying.
Works well for movies in the backyard on the side of the house. Can start before it's totally pitch black.

CONS:
The built in speakers are useless. You'll want to buy some simple computer speakers.
The throw is quite long. If you want to do a movie in a room and cover a whole wall, this isn't a good choice.

HERE IS THE BIG DRAWBACK TO THIS PROJECTOR!
I am not a nerd who obsesses over image quality, but I am used to watching movies on my 1080p flatscreen tv. It's not a high-end tv, but it is 1080.

If that's what you're used to, then you should know that the detail just won't be there with this picture. I thought I could overlook that based on other reviewers saying it wasn't a big deal, but I can't. I'm returning this and buying the Viewsonic one that is only $60 more and which is 1280 x 720 resolution. I think I'll be happier with that.

I just need a LITTLE more definition in the picture.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet since my son and grandson took it over to show movies from their computer. They love it and I am sure I will too if I ever get the chance.

I love it. Just what I needed a projector that's bright so I can open up the house to the AZ sunlight and still see it. Do wish it was a little bit bigger of a screen but it's still great and crystal clear

This is an amazing amazing AMAZING projector. The bulb lasted about 9 months with constant use. About 9 hrs a day. Was a very clear and clean picture. Worked great in a lit room. I highly recommend this projector to others. Had it hooked up to my ps3.
Bulbs are pricey though.

Excellent Projector. I have had mine for over 3 months now, and us it to watch Movies on my bedroom wall and ceiling. It does not produce a lot of heat like soem projectors I have worked with over the years, and it is very easy to set up and use. This is an outstanding machine at a great price.

This projector is very good for watching 2D and 3D movies. The screen is very clear and bright. Many inputs but no usb. I use a multimedia player connected via hdmi cable and i can play movies via that. It also works with a stb via hdmi or vga and also laptop mobile phone and tablet. I havent tried the ethernet yet. External speakers are necessary as the inbuilt speaker isnt good enough for movies. It replicates perfectly from a laptop so for presentations it is excellent. So far so good. The fan can be noisy and it gets quite warm but you forget about that when immersed in a 3D movie

Right out of the box this product is amazing. I have been looking for a decent lower end priced projector and it does the job great. Even with the lights on in the room, it still have a very crisp clean picture. Very satisfied!

This is the first projector I have purchased and It works great! Granted, it is not a true HD (1080p), it only handles 720p, but the contrast and brightness and color make up for it. I have this projector set up in my bedroom. The projector is roughly 20' away from the wall and produces a 77" image (measured diagonally). This is a table top projector so the default image is projected at a 45 degree angle so if you plan on putting it on a high shelf, it will have to be mounted upside down. Otherwise your image will be on the ceiling. I have gone through the settings and have not found an option for it to project straight across.

Another slight issue I have is that the default projection image is set at 800x600VGA so the default images project in a perfect square. I use the 16:9 aspect ratio to give it that theater feel but you can still see the square area of light that is not being used. Think of it as a large square background with the movie rectangle in the center. It is a bit distracting but not a deal breaker.

There are a few additional items to consider depending on your set up such as a 25' HDMI cable, an optical to RCA audio converter (Apple TV audio out to Old school RCA Surround sound receiver Input), extension cords, surge protector, etc. I purchased all of these items on amazon and received them in 2 days. Prime is awesome.

Almost forgot, this projector is 3D ready so if you want to go all out, just make sure you buy the 3d Glasses that are made specifically for this projector,

All in all it took a few hours to set up and now I am enjoying movie night on a 77" image with full 5.1 surround sound. Ain't it the life!

This is probably a perfect business projector for a smaller room with a lot of ambient light. It seriously throws a good amount of light, even in a south-facing room in the summer. It's only 1024x768 4:3 so it's not the best thing for movies or gaming, but for throwing a spreadsheet or powerpoint on the wall, you can't go wrong with it. The HDMI port is really handy so any modern laptop can plug into it very easily. Powering on and warming up is quick, maybe 10 seconds until you're ready to go. Colors are crisp and bright, responsiveness is perfect, the unit is light and relatively small (though definitely not a mini-projector) and will be easy to mount or take around with you.

For fun I took it out onto the shared patio at my apartments late at night and used a large white painted brick wall to play Portal 1 from my laptop at probably 200". In a pretty dark environment it was exceptionally bright. I have a decent media projector set up at home already, so this one is going to be my fun/portable projector.

This bad boy seems to auto focus too. Hooked it up in 35 seconds and was watching 3 Stooges. Funny to first use it on black and white but color isn't a factor for good shows.

Projector works nice but this model (PJD5132) doesn't have an HDMI input which has become a real pain. I had to spend another 50 dollars for a converter from HDMI to RCA as I am using it with my Blu-Ray DVD Player. If you're using it for a home theater, it would be better to get the next model up to avoid the hassle if you are just hooking it up to your computer, it's perfect.

Let me start off by saying I sent back the projector back. It had an amazing picture but only about 80" so what I did was contact the seller and told him I wanted one that project at least 300" ! He went through his stock and picked out an amazing projector I love! In a matter of 15 min I had a label to send it back and he had my new project set to be shipped right then. 4 days Later I got my projector from Washington State. To Virginia! All because of Todd! Just ask for Todd! Easy to reach and was beyond helpful. My tip is if your looking for something your not 100% an expert about its ok to ask. Just look for this company Multitech Computer Services, Inc.

This projector is the best purchase I have made. Easy set-up and the picture couldn't be any better, especially with the pull down screen.

Cannot rave about this projector enough. I'm a college student with 2 roommates and this projector has COMPLETELY changed everything about our room. The picture quality is absolutely phenomenal, especially for the price, and we have had zero issues since buying it back in August. The crispness of the quality is, again, phenomenal. works great after connecting to a powered sound source. The built in one really sucks as people said even the instructions said to use another sound source. that's why i gave a 5 because it was no superise about the sound quality. WELL WORTH THE MONEY

Great! This thing is sweet. I got it for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift and he is in LOVE. I was worried about getting this one, because I did read some bad reviews but so far so good. Bright, great picture. Highly recommend.

We bought this to replace the projector at a school where that projector had devolved into 2/3 snowy screen. This new one is light years beyond the older one. Stays cooler. Crisp picture; interaction with laptop (even old laptop) is so much easier. The projector helps install itself and is easier for all the teachers to use. The white color of the case makes this blend into the white ceiling so it is less obtrusive to the eye. Just really, really happy.

BEEN USING IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS EVERYDAY 7 DAYS A WEEK FOR OVER 2 YEARS WITH NOT ONE PROBLEM.
I only wish it had HDMI.

May not be HD, but is just awesome! Works great, great picture (even works with the lights on). Projects perfectly on a wall. Will also project 3D content. Extremely satisfied with this purchase.

What can i say for the money you cant buy better gives out perfect picture i love it so does the family

Its not the be all end all of projectors but it gets the job done nicely. Ive had it for a few weeks and use it every weekend to watch movies but mostly use it for gaming. There is some pixelation with small text though but not to the point of being non readable. You will need more than 15 ft if you want to get large than 84 in picture with it. This is my first projector but I have friends with worse quality ones. Beside small text, the difference between this and an hdtv isnt an issue.

We bought this as a donation to our church in memory of our son. It works very well to put the words to songs up on a screen for the Sunday school classes and when there is something special going on. We used it for movies too and it worked good for that. It's pretty simple to run which is great when there are so many different people using it.

Seems to be working well. Haven't learned how to use remote control but our mouse on the computer works for presentations.

Very good projector. Using it for outdoor movies on an inflatable 12' screen, works great. Doesn't have to be completely dark to use and the picture quality is great. I was even projecting it on to my 16 wide shed and the picture was still amazing and bright. The speaker does suck but you cant complain for the price of the projector. The reviews about this projector are very accurate.

the fan noise is more noticeable than I expected as compared to other viewsonic projectors we use, but for our presentation application it is ok. Wouldn't have been what I would have wanted for theater.

We bought this projector because we wanted to have an outdoor theater when camping. We also purchased a Camp Chef Outdoor Entertainment Gear screen, and Amazon Basics USB speakers. First impression upon unpacking the projector: super light weight, and looks well-built. Decided to give it a test in the garage during broad daylight. Hung the screen behind one of the garage doors, connected the projector to the laptop computer with an HDMI cable, and fired it up. The brightness amazed me, even with light coming in from the window in the garage. I then opened the man-door to the garage, which added more sunlight, and the projector still showed a good image. Finally, I opened one of the two garage doors, and it still looked good (although not as good as it did that evening after sunset). Set-up was a snap, as was adjusting the aspect ratio.

The Amazon Basics USB speakers do an adequate job, too. Not high end audio, but for less than $20, who would really expect that?

Great projector, especially given the price point. You can get a better unit, but you will pay a lot more for it.
