I was in the market for a good quality (both physically and video quality) projector for use at My Home Church that didn't break the bank.
I found the older version to this one, then quickly realized ViewSonic had released a newer version (this model - PJD5134). I did some research, read some reviews and pulled the trigger on this thing.
I have to be honest, I was very skeptical for two reasons; 1) I never purchased a projector before 2) this thing is pretty cheap, my experience is you get what you pay for if you know what I mean. I went ahead and bought it anyway because I'm technically savvy (IT person), all the specs on this thing told me it should be good.
Anyway, I had to strike a balance between quality and cost so this was as good as it got based on my research. The moment I powered this thing on, I could see the wall getting brighter and brighter as the viewsonic logo came up. I immediately told my Wife I was impressed! I connected my laptop to the HDMI port on the project, played some video, tried some slide shows in power point and also tested with a software called 'easy worship'. The text is solid and bright on a white wall. I couldn't ask for anything more, I'm really satisfied!
I then went ahead and purchased a ceiling mount and a 50ft vga cable.
One thing to be weary of: This isn't full HD, it's 720p max which is fine for me.
The remote control works well (signal wise I mean). I aim it directly at the projector or on the wall it's projecting to and it works fine.
One thing I think is very necessary, that this project doesn't have is a cover for the lens. I also don't like the feet under the project - they are fixed. Some projectors have screw type feet that you can adjust if the surface isn't square.

I purchased this projector in February 2014 and I have been having issues with it flickering after it has been running for a bit. I turned down the brightness and that seemed to work for a bit, but then it went to doing the same thing again. Does anyone know how this issue could be resolved? I cannot find my manual so maybe someone could assist me.

Even thought its not 1080p it has great colors and the quality of images is great. Quality/price one of the best projectors in the market

amazing for the price. I searched and searched for one that was affordable yet good enough quality. it took some time but this is the one. Bought it for my husbands man cave. It ended up being the perfect movie/game room. Perfect!

Great system, does everything its supposed to do. Was shocked at how clear the projectors picture quality was. All text is clear and readable. Adjusting the picture and zoom is fairly easy/standard.

Bought this product for my company team room.
Competitively priced and exactly what we needed. Setup took less than 15 minutes and the picture and color quality is great. It has both an HDMI and VGA input, which was a big plus. The projector is compact and relatively lightweight - a big improvement from the one that we were replacing.
At the price point and with the features it has, this was a great buy. We have had it in use for approximately 6 weeks and it gets used about 5-10 times per week.

I bought this one back in April and after trying out couple movies and figured out how to set the image perfectly rectangle on the wall. Folks , lets me tell you this is the best and awesome 3D projector. I love it. The price for this unit is reasonable and suitable for everyone.
couple important thing need to know about the projector:
Set the projector dead center to the screen.
Buy correct HDMI cable , it will transfer a good image to your eyes
Buy a 3D blu ray player. You will never regret. You can turn any 2D movies into 3d movies. The combination will give you a good entertainment theater at home.

We use this to watch movie outdoors at night. I connect it to my laptop and use a wireless speaker for sound. I was completely amazed at how easy it was to set up and start enjoying. This projector may be tiny, but the screen image is bright, clear and large! We have a 8'x15' screen, and this projector doesn't seem to strain. I actually overshot when I originally set it up, and had to move the projector closer. We've used it at least 6 times this spring, and I'm looking forward to more nights of movies under the stars.

If you are trying to decide on a projector, than look no more, because this projector is amazing! Minutes after opening the package, I was already using it and I instantly fell in love. The picture quality is pretty good and the projector is quiet enough that it doesn't bother me. The only downside is that the built-in speakers aren't amazing, but just by plugging in some old external speakers it works. If you are looking something to use personally or to use with friends for movies, this projector will suit almost everyone and get the job done.

Great product, perform very well. Resolution and screen size are satisfactory. The only recommendation is that it should have come with HDMI adapter.

This is a nice, economical projector that's lightweight and relatively easy to use. Bought it to travel for events at work and making it a lot more efficient than renting projectors along the way. One warning for Mac users, you definitely need a VGA to Mini DisplayPort, I tried a DVI converter and it didn't quite work, so get something like "AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to VGA Adapter" and it should be fine.

I had another Viewsonic that died after about 3 years. So didn't want to spend alot. This is a bright projector, and has very little fan noise if at all. There is also no filter to clean which was a pain with my other projector. The only con is that it doesn't project a very big screen. I had the projector some 5 feet away from the screen and it only projected a screen equivalent to a 47" or 50" screen. My older projector would be only two feet away to create that big a screen. So if you are looking to use for home theater, think about the projector placement.

I've had this projector for going on two years, no problems at all. I use it for video gaming and I put my laptop up on it to watch netflix. It gets daily use, I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a cheap solution to a huge tv.

Amazing projector, worth every cent and not that expensive compared to full size projectors. If you are shopping for one that isn't pushing over a $1000 but want great quality then stop here and get this. I use this for movies and i hooked up my N64/PS3 to this and it looks amazing!

It does not throw a very big picture up close. Big for travel and it does not come with a case, or bag or even a lens cap! In fact it looks like it does not even support a lens cap.... It works... I will give it that. I miss the old project I had that allowed me to not only adjust the keystone but the skew. This projector must be 90 degree to the wall.

I have had the PJD5134 for about a month now and I have no complaints. In fact I think its a great little projector. My throw distance is about 12 feet and I am getting a very clear display of about 80 inches. I wish i could throw a little more but my apartment is limited. Currently, I am projecting on a new wall with very little texture so I imagine is great but could be better. A proper screen from Elite Screens will make the image pop though. The colors are bright but I do notice when I have a lot of natural light entering the room the darker colors make it hard to follow. I will either have to turn the bulb brightness up during the day or play with my lighting in the apartment.
The setup was a breeze. I litterally plugged it in and maually focused the lens within 3 minutes. I have connected my DVD player, Xbox 360 (awsome btw), the apple HDMI adapter, and the Samsung MLH adapter to stream Netflix and all work very well. I have yet to try Blu-Ray but i am exptecting good things. The HDMI port was a big plus for me when deciding on this product.
At this price range I feel very comfortable that I made the right decision.

I didn't buy this directly, but my son got it for his new apartment. It has the larger screen size that he was looking for. He has mentioned no problems with it at all and now his place is where everyone goes to watch movies...the image is huge and crystal clear. If you shut the blinds, it will even show up well in the daytime. My big screen TV now seems so puny in comparison. I think I will be getting one of these projectors soon! He got a mounting bracket to put in out of the way on the ceiling. He says that the black out cloth that you can get by the yard at JoAnne's Fabric (that has one silvery side) makes an excellent and inexpensive screen.

I've had three projectors and I find ViewSonic projectors to be the best so far. I recommend ViewSonic projectors to any interested party.

I tested 2 other projectors before settling on this one. Best thing I like about this projector is that the range is good for both 12 feet on a 70" wide screen and 18 feet on a 104" wide screen. (I haven't installed the projector; I've just put it on a table). Second, the audio of this projector is much better than the volume of an Optoma that I tried and returned. (I'm connecting the projector to two Bose computer speakers). Third, the picture quality is great for a projector of this price.
I've had the projector for a couple of months so far, and I'm very happy with it.
