This projector puts out a good picture, but you have to place the projector almost 15 feet back to get even a 60" wide image, so it's useless for smaller rooms.

The projector is easy to set up and operate. The image can be adjusted by moving the projector closer (smaller image) or further away (larger image). The image is sharp and bright and can be seen in a classroom with a wall of windows.

Love this! Buy it you won't regret it. The 3-d is amazing. I got it as an Easter present for my kids last year and set it up to make sure everything worked as soon as I got it. I was so excited that I woke my son up to show him and ruined the surprise. This works great with the sainsonic glasses by the way. I was having trouble deciding which to buy and am glad I went with them. Seriously buy it, movie night will never be the same again!

Have not had any issues at al. I am pleases with the variety of options for use!!
And the picture quality is truly just as HD as the TV (granted its on a nice screen. a white sheet or wall will obstruct the quality a small amount. but still viewable and readable.
Only CON: No lens cap
Suggestion, if your not going to mount it, get a carry bag.

so far I like this very much, I can't wait to use it more outside. starting to cool down outside. the 3D feature is nice, plenty bright and paired with my refurbished 3D Samsung smart player, I've tried some apps and am looking forward to watching Monday night football outside by the pool. can't imagine what would be better for more money, great choice

the unit was bought on June 26 and was not installed until Aug 1 and recently stopped working.
I bought the square trade that is useless; I called Square trade and they have you use the manufacture warranty the first year.
I called Viewsonic they have you mail the unit in to Chino California where they will look at for around 18-business days.

First time projector owner. I purchased this because of high good reviews and reasonable price. They were right. Rented my first movie last night, played it on my ps3 and there u go. My family was blown away! It's our first time watching on our very own projector and it looks amazing!!!! Installed in back patio, felt like were watching on a drive thru theatre.
External speaker is a must have, people write down some rainbow something but I didn't see none of those. Some complaints about the txt but I didn't have any problems on those also because we always watch movies with subtitle and I can read it clearly from what we watch last night. All in all A+++ it's clear, affordable, does it job. !!!

I did a lot of research and this projector is amazing. The only bad thing I can say is that I wish it had a USB port and regular A/V hookups. If you can handle everything with HDMI, VGA, and an AUX cable than this projector won't fail you. So far I've clocked in 850 hours in 7 months and have no complaints. Many will say DLP projectors have a strong rainbow effect but If you've never seen this... it's a split second effect similar to following the blades of a fan where you a see a tinge of color as you're watching. My evidence is that no one that has come over to watch has ever mentioned anything about colors or a rainbow. They're too busy asking for more popcorn.

I purchased this projector to replace my ancient opaque projector, and it works great! Much brighter and crisp than my old technology. I've also watched movies and used it for presentations as well.

No HDMI or Optical Cable. If you want to use this to once your Apple TV or Mac this is not the product for you. Looks like it still has very old connectors not industry standard

Amazing deal!! For the money can't ask for anything better. This is my second projector and is an upgrade from previous one. The 3d is amazing with the correct glasses. I purchased my dlp glasses from amazon 2 for $60.00. I have watched Transformers and Journey 2 in 3d. Both were excellent. As other reviews show plan to purchase speakers. I purchased 3d blu ray surround sound system and it is a great package. I even play it on my deep purple wall and the picture is great. I have the white motarized screen from nomorerack $80.00 for 100". Just haven't had time to install. My friend even went out the same day she saw mine and purchased one:) very happy with product.

Easy set up for first time user. Fyi. You need a dvd player to attach using an HDMI cable. Also need good speakers to project additional sound. But excellent picture on the outdoor screen we bought. Good price for a good product.

I purchased this projector to be used at functions for a social club. We generally show DVD's in a room that is only slightly darkened, with the projector about 15' from the screen, and club members view it from 20 - 50 ft away. So we needed a projector with some muscle to get an image large and crisp enough to be enjoyed from the back of the room. I researched lots of projectors, and this one seemed to offer the best quality for a reasonable price. We weren't disappointed - the image is about 8' wide and very sharp. It has lots of fancy features which we probably won't use, but the basics are easy enough to figure out. My one gripe is that there is no operating manual - only a CD with the manual on it, which might be convenient if you have a dedicated laptop you are using with the projector, but useless if you are using it with a DVD player.
If you are a first-time projector buyer (like I was), I recommend the following link, which I found on the Radio Shack website:[...] They had a very nice explanation of what all these specification acronyms actually mean in terms of a good picture. In a nutshell:
Lumens - higher number means brighter picture in a less than dark room (very important for us)
Resolution - the fineness of detail (i.e. high-def - see the website for details) This projector isn't really high-def, but it seems you have pay twice the price for the next higher level.
Contrast ratio - higher number means a greater difference between the lights and darks - (important since our DVD's are shot in low lighting)
Throw ratio - how big the picture will be - a smaller number actually means a bigger picture. The Viewsonic website has a nifty calculator that helps you see how big your picture will be at a given distance.

Our 47 inch plasma burnt out so we decided to go this route. Set it all up and shot it on a blue painted wall and was impressed. Then went to fabric store and got 8 feet of black out curtain and made a screen and the picture came to life. Extremely happy. We know have a 101 inch screen and can't stop watching tv.

I did a LOT of looking and comparisons of reviews before settling on this unit, and I am very happy with it. I agree with another reviewer who took note of the inconvenience of not having an easy-access set up guide (disc, included, has a full user's manual). I decided just to wing it. I stuck all the wires and cables in the places it seemed like they belonged and then just pressed the power button. Up on the wall (I hadn't set up a scree) came a request to select what language I wanted to use. The default was "English" so I just pressed the center button on the remote. That screen was immediately replaced with the display on my laptop screen! I didn't have to do anything with my computer display settings or anything else. That was it! The size/weight make it dead easy to pack up to take to meetings and the sharpness/brightness of the projected image is incredible. I haven't yet figured out how to use the remote to control my computer's power point program, but then I haven't really tried. This seems to be the perfect blend of quality vs price.

I haven't even begun to explore everything I could do with this projector. I'll just start out by saying that I love it! However, I do have to agree with the previous reviewer that the sound doesn't go up high enough for me to hear it well. Being old and half deaf doesn't help, so, I will be ordering some external speakers to go with it. Easy to set up and use.

I love playing video games and boy is it fun to play on the big screen! The picture is really much nicer than I expected from a projector. I wish it weren't so expensive though. I would get everyone on my Christmas list one of these if I could.

Have been using it with my xbox one for about 2 months. And its incredible. I have it on a coffee table at 12 and a half feet. And it projects about a 100" 4x3 picture. Fantastic. Would highly recommend.

This projector is one of the best in the price range. It's great to use inside in the daytime and excellent at night, I use a gray screen to show this projector. The colors are of high quality, easy set up plug in and go, I also use this on my outside MGM movie screen and it works perfect. Fan a bit noisy but does not continue to run, blows out some heat but not overbearing . This is a great product and also plays straight onto any wall clearly. Love the 3d comes out great and good for movie night.

Best thing that has ever happened to my living room. Works great straight out the box. Have to adjust it to get your picture just right but that's with anything. Got my ps4 hocked up looks great even with the light on. Buy this you will not be disappointed. I got a pull down 120in screen for just 70$ with free shipping.

Really pleased with the output of this projector. We purchased it to use for showing movies outdoors and the colors really pop! It also seems to be built a little more solidly than other projectors I have used in the past. I would've given 5 starts if it came with a carrying case.

This projector works well, but it emits SO MUCH heat that I can't use it in a room with the door closed without also having air conditioning running...it really is A LOT of heat (more so than other projectors that I have experienced)...

I purchased this projector in place of a television to stream content from my computer. I knew that projectors in the $100-150 range were mostly a joke and took the chance to purchase this one. The vibrant projection is strongly visible even with lights on the other side of the room. A light directly overhead the projection wash it out, but that's not a complaint; that's science. I use the OontZ Angle Bluetooth speaker for sound.

I received my projector and I was beyond impressed with the picture for what im using it for . Mainly got for football games.first use was outside with overcast skys and you can see it just fine. The clarity was amazing with hdmi. Haven't used any other components. I would recommend this projector.

Let me start this with I have no bias toward this company at all. I ordered this because a guy said he liked his. I had low expectations, but I got this thing real quick, first perk. Secondly, I've used this thing on my crappy army housing walls and still been impressed, also stretched a white sheet held up with some thumb tacks, which improved the picture. I play CoD and use this to game on and it's really cool. No BS this projector is great for hdmi cable devices, wish it had more connections for other stuff but whatever, if you want something to play some really high quality hdmi connected picture, this projector is great, I'm really picky and only bought this because I hadn't gotten my household goods from Germany but I'm really happy with it, I even use it over my $2500 television set. Like I said if you want a real review, this is it, really good projector, I'm sure it's much better with a real projector screen, manageable price, only downside for me is cords and whatnot make it hard to place in an open room, which is understandable, wasn't ment for that, if you're looking for a projector, get this one and then return it if you're even more critical than I am, which isn't likely but hey, who am I to judge.

For the price, this thing is awesome. I have it in my basement as a cheap projector on a plain white wall. It looks great and love watching the football games on it. Its not mind blowing by any means but it really gets the job done for most people. All my friends love it and talk about how good it looks. The speakers on it are ok but I would say you would want something better attached to them. It is not loud and has a power save feature that dims it down a little bit. I am very happy with it and at this price point, how could you go wrong.

*WOW*!!! The projector is amazing! Did a movie night in our backyard and projected into our neighbors wall. The image quality was so clear that you could not tell it was a stucco wall! Color was great, and the dark scenes were also well-lit. Have used other projectors where the night scenes were difficult to see what was going on, but the Viewsonic did amazingly well! Would definitely recommend!

I purchased this projector by reading the reviews alone. Straight out of the box, I hooked it directly to my MacBook Pro via HDMI cable, and within seconds I was up and running. Really, this is a great projector-works like a charm, every time!

i ended up not receiving this order but was taken care of by amazon but i did get another one and the picture is very clear and sharp. very easy to setup. my only suggestion for anyone that wants to use it outside is to invest in speakers. the built in sound is very teeny sounding.

Recommend to all movie lovers expect if you are ok with below things :)

1) Fan noise - roars well, at the same time it keeps the box cool, so if you are using a Bluetooth headset or home theater you wouldn't notice this.
2) Aspect ratio - 4:3 , as most of the broadcast these days are HD 16:9, this projector shrinks down your video, now this is a problem when your room is small, if you have a bigger room, you can project a 2 meter dia video ultra clear with no issues :)

only above 2 things kind of disappointed me, but thats what i chose to buy, so not to complain, this projector is worth more 10+ things you''ll love, Just try her, she rocks!

I bought this after having to send back a different brand projector, Digital galaxy, because it magically stopped working after less than a week of light use. I have been very pleased with the Viewsonic brand. I use the projector as my primary home television hooked up to a Roku player for streaming movies and Netflix. The picture is large, bright, and clear. The internal speakers are lacking for this purpose which is to be expected but has an external port for an external speaker hookup compatible with any of the leading sound systems on the market. Plug in some quality speakers and you will have the best home theater in the neighborhood.

I have owned this projector for over a year now. My set up isn't fancy. I just have it up high on a shelf in my tiny tiny living room. It displays on an off white wall and it looks amazing. Everyone wants to come over for movie night. We've saved so much money just staying inside and watching on demand with microwave popcorn in our own little private theater. And everyday programming is like a big orchestra. The sound is crap so be prepared to shell out at least $100 for a decent surround sound system or even some bookcase speakers if you're cheap like me.

Pros: price is cheap. It is very simple to work with and displays everything very well.

Overall I would rate this as a television experience equal to one of those big old huge proejection tv's from the late 90's. I was trying to get an 80 inch screen and had to mount it nearly at the back of the room, sitting closer to the projected image you can see the grid pattern from projection.

I would rate this product 3 stars as it is primarily what I would call an office projector. I gave it four stars because it is cheap and has hdmi input and audio output to run back into a stereo system. I've had people over and they love it but I guess I'm too picky and want perfection

Fast paced video games have some blurring to them in high motion scenes, example driving fast around the city in grand theft auto 5.

If you're debating pulling the trigger just go for it. I have a big media room and wanted the screen to be wall sized so that's why I can see the grid pattern

This is an excellent entry-level projector that should be all that a small business or community association needs. As recently as five years ago this would be a 'dream machine' costing thousands, but technology does progress, and gets cheaper. I have no complaints at all, but if you buy one, (a) Download the user guide from the ViewSonic website immediately - you will need it. (b) Be aware that if you want to use the remote control, you have to be IN FRONT of the projector, not behind it - this doesn't seem to be documented. (c) The user guide says the following, but it's easy to overlook: If you want to control the show from your laptop, as most people do, then you will need to connect the laptop to the projector using a USB-to-mini-USB cable (not provided, but easy to buy at any tech shop). So that will be two cables connecting the projector to your laptop. (d) Also, the power cord is three-prong, so carry along an adapter just in case your projection-location has only two-slot wall outlets or will offer you a two-slot extension cord. (e) Speaking of which, take an extension cord along. I do think this is right, instead of giving you a 25-food power cord to take along whether you need it or not.

Image quality is perfect for the projection on the wall.
Many options available for changing the projections size and clarity.
The only minor dislike is the fan inside the projector blows out too much hot air.
