Bought the projector for ministry use. It is good for simple stuff and showing videos, but I have a hard time seeing the picture if it is a darkened scene. It works for what we wanted it for, so we are happy!

I got this mostly for the upcoming college football season. I have a set up I'm going to use in my garage. I wanted a huge image to display college football on Saturdays for me and the neighbors. Well.. I definitely have a huge/very nice and bright image.

The screen I ordered isn't here yet so I just fired up the projector and put the image on the wall in the basement. I plugged it in via HDMI and put on 'The Avengers' Blu Ray. Wow.. And remember this was just on the beige wall. Image looked great. I'm huge stickler for how a picture looks also. Does it look as good as my 55" 1080p Samsung? No it doesn't, but I didn't expect it to. But was it huge and crisp and awesome looking? YES IT WAS.

Like most reviews say, the speaker is not good at all. That's fine, I knew that going in. I purchased a $40 2.1 speaker system to go with it. (2 speakers and subwoofer) I plugged that in and the sound was great.

Quick note: some were asking if this supports 16:9 ratio? Yes it does. When its plugged into an HDMI at least it did for me.

I'm very happy with it and I can't wait to use it this fall for games. My kids came downstairs and watched a little bit of it also. To say the least, they were impressed. My 3 year old thought it was the best thing since sliced bread to see Thomas the Tank Engine in his 7 foot display glory.

Definitely recommend and would buy again. This is my first ever review so I must have liked it!

I was so happy to finally receive my projector after watching the Super Bowl on a projector that was similar. When I got the projector the first thing I did was set it up and the biggest problem I found was that the projector doesn't have a angle changing lamp, so you have to mount it or position it just right (the manual even instructs that you can turn the unit upside down to help achieve optimum projection). The sound is very bad...so just know that a cheap sound bar from Walmart will do or Amazon LOL. Also, there is only one HDMI port and no HD sound port. All in all I'm very happy with my choice of projector and would buy it again if faced with buying another; I would have just liked to have been made aware of these things prior to purchasing so that I could be prepared.

This projector is lightweight. It gives a pretty good picture. I have not tried the 3D settings as of yet. The sound is not the BEST, sounds like a cellphone on speaker. So, unless you're sitting right next to it, you won't hear it. I have used it outside on the 14 foot inflatable and had a great picture. The kids enjoyed it a lot. For the price, you will enjoy it for casual/leisure viewing with the family.

I must say most of th feedbacks of this projector are spot on. Why I bought this projector ?

I wanted to get rid of my old television
I wanted a big screen to watch movies
I don't watch TV

It fulfilled all these conditions under a limited budget and it does the job well. However beware it produces around 65" of screen only if you have a distance of 10-11 feet. If you want bigger screen you need to have a bigger THROW distance,longer room to project . The screen size is huge, but having seen one of the OPTOMA FULL HD projectors, I personally was hoping at 10-11 feet it would have greater screen .

Again great Remote ( Don't lose it cos you will not be able to use a lot of features like ECO MODE without Remote ) , great setup.

BAD :

I don't think the HDMI CABLE works with it. I tried several cables and tried attaching the HDMI to the projector on one end and LAPTOP on the other it just does not work. It has been given to make most techies happy.

Overall very good buy. Great clarity and I will hope great lamp life.

Warning : On the box it does not claim 10,000 hours as Viewsonic does here on Amazon. On the box it says 6000 hours, though I am sure if used in ECO mode it could be more...

Super bright, easily visible in normal office lighting, half a dozen ways to connect it to a PC (should work for both old and new), built in speakers are wanting but better than laptop alone. Remote control to advance slides. Quick easy setup and faster take down with no required cool down time. Lack of HD not relevant in office type meetings, power point and video all run well and resolution is good, i suspect the bright lamp and bright image offsets or tricks the eye into not noticing 'standard def'. Meeting all expectations and enabling me to perform my job. I carried projectors for several years then got away from it as companies better outfitted their conference rooms, two recent presentations where either security concerns or some other gremlin caused problems convinced me to go back to traveling with everything i might need to complete my objective. This projector is light compared to ones i used 2005-2009. I got an inexpensive Pelican style case for it and a small external set of speakers, take it everywhere now. Better to have lugged a manageable extra carry on bag to a meeting, not need it and leave it in the corner than to have a meeting not go because of a technical glitch.

I bought this for my Man-Cave. Its hooked up to a direct TV genie receiver. Everyone that comes over is amazed on how great the picture looks, and bright it is even with some daylight seeping through the curtains. I have not used the 3D features. Hooked up to surround sound with Direct TV HD is awesome, and the compliments never end when people come over for pay per views, or sports.

My only complaint is that I wish it had 1080p resolution, (it will display at 1080 settings, but it still is a little grainy. When hooking up my laptop for occasional gaming, it makes it hard to read text but is fine if I change my laptop to 720p. Its still a great value, and I have had it for a couple of months now with no issue whatsoever.

I also wish It had more HDMI inputs, as you will have to buy a switcher if you want to use multiple sources. I recommend a manual one as this will not always auto-detect the signal coming in from an auto switcher. I have used several switchers for different TV setups and the manual ones work better it seems than the auto detect ones, especially on this one.

You cant go wrong with the price, (if its still around 300 bucks give or take), and I will definitely buy another exact one or a newer model when this one goes out! Great buy!

Update as of 2015 january 2nd
Been to repair 3 times after 1000 hours it seems to flicker and fade out until it turns its self off .. It is now ringing when off so I need to unplug it when its not in use and its becoming very very troublesome

Works great. Picture was beautiful in combination with Carl's Black out cloth. Easy to hook up and use. Definitely need speakers with this item...hard to hear sound without separate speakers. Very happy with this purchase and price paid. Well worth the money!

As a first projector purchase, I was very worried that the quality of this would be poor, but I was delighted the first time I got it set up. I had originally planned on spending more, but after looking through almost every review, I felt confident enough that this was the right purchase to make.

Now that I have it, I have people over every Sunday to watch some of the big shows and I also do movie night with the family. I'm yet to try out the 3D option, but will update when I do.

You can begin to see the projected image outside as as the sun goes down and usually by dusk you can be watching a movie with no problems at all. I was pretty impressed with it's brightness.

Pros
Lightweight

Easy to set up

Very Good Image quality!

Cons
Only 1 HDMI input (to solve this I purchased an HDMI splitter, Portta PET0301S HDMI Switcher Support

Speaker quality is not very good, but this was expected.

Adjusting the screen to project evenly can be a pain. It's easily solved by maybe putting something under the rear/left leg or visa versa, but it would be nice if all the legs were adjustable. The unit does adjust up and down though with a little screw leg located front and center.

All in all, this is one of my favorite Amazon purchases and I don't regret it in the least. Between this, a portable 120" stand, a sound bar and some wire, I have a sweet backyard movie setup for about $650 total.

This projector is awesome for an entry level device! It can route sound to external speakers, which is a must. It's not HD, so it can't compare to the $700+ group of projectors, but for me this is just fine. You get lost in the movie anyway so you don't notice that it's not theater-qualty (it's probably the difference visually between 720 and 1080, it's definitely not perfect but it's much better than you'd think). The one I bought was refurbished and received it defective with lines on the screen so that had to be returned, but the brand new replacement I got is amazing!

I tried this unit and the Brookstone. I kept the Brookstone because for my needs, it's better. The view sonic is brighter, so for anything but dark rooms, it wins. It does create a lot of heat. I'm in a small office and that was not acceptable. They both are a little noisy, but if you can sit far away from the units, no problem. The picture on the Brookstone, though darker, looks more like a movie should look.The Veiw sonic, even with it's adjustments still looks less cinematic. I returned the Viewsonic. It's not bad, but I did prefer the Brookstone of rite's small size, lack of heat, and more cinematic picture.

I bought this projector because of all the good reviews. But I was still very skeptical the whole time until I opened it up & hooked er' up! I bought it for my Bar Room/Man Cave. I have 2 decent size windows & a patio door so there is a ton of daylight coming thru the room. This projector is really bright compare to most projectors i've seen in stores. It takes at the most 20 seconds to warm up. & the picture is just as bright as my 50" plasma. I currently have a DISH HD box hooked up to it & the picture is crystal clear! Projector sits 9ft. away from the screen & produces a 62" image (diagonal) in 4:3 format & a 58" image (diagonal) in 16:9 format. ***(For all you Audio Freaks) The only downside that i can see that "MAY" be an issue is that there are no hook ups for surround sound or left & right RCA jacks for routing audio to a reciever. But there is a headphone jack that you could run to a reciever with some help from an adaptor i guess. (thats very minor). & the projector needs to aim perfectly straight & level to produce a perfect 4:3 square or 16:9 rectangle image. If the projector is slightly angled up or down, the sides of the screen bevel inwards or outwards. Other than that. No complaints outta me! I give it a 5star rating on picture alone.

The picture from this projector is great. It's only 800x600, so you won't be able to fool yourself into thinking it's anything close to HD, but like many reviewers have said, when you have a high quality image projected onto a wall or a screen, it looks great. Having an image projected really makes a difference from seeing something on a TV screen. Picture is bright and colorful.

The onboard sound is pretty quiet and tinny, you will barely be able to hear it about the fan, even at the max volume. If you're using this to watch movies or something, be prepared to use external speakers if you want to have a complete experience. Most of you will probably do that anyway, so no big deal.

Already had a movie night for the grandchildren and they loved it. Can't wait to watch some Alabama football outside while we cookout and fellowship with family and friends. If it's very sunny outside you will have to set up blinds to block it out or the picture is not real clear. Easy to set up and get started!

My old projector had slightly better resolution, but this one seems to have a better picture. I think because it has HDMI and my old one did not. It could also be the fact that my old one was not LCD.

It isn't exceptionally quiet or loud. Pretty much in the middle.

NOTE: I searched for replacement bulbs, and stuff was all really expensive. Hoping that goes down. I'd like to run 2-3 bulbs through it before I need to replace.

P.S. I used my old projector a lot and got 4-5 years out of it on one replacement bulb. it then started showing dead pixels. That is the sort of lifespan I would be satisfied with.

The projector's image is EXACTLY like watching the tv. I was amazed at how clear the image is. When I viewed the product description, I was a little unsure of how to put which cord where, and what cord I needed. So, I just ordered an hdmi cord, and I hoped that the projector would connect with the yellow, red , white DVD cords. Well, the projector came in the mail with the hdmi cord I ordered in just two days. I was so excited, and naturally had to hook it up. It came with a power cord and a cord that connects with the computer. There was an installation cd for the computer, and a quick start paper. The quick start paper has a cord diagram, and I was intimidated. The projector does NOT have a connection for the red, yellow, and white cords. The projector has a s-video connection, but I do not have the cord. I began thinking I will have to go to the store and buy all kinds of cords. Then I got to looking at my DVD player, it has an hdmi connection! So I crossed my fingers and put the hdmi cord in the DVD player and projector. It worked. So easy, I was worried about the cord matrix diagram for nothing. The projector showed a screen that said select language. I selected English. Then the projector did a search for input, and there was the movie. I had to turn the focus dial. I think I actually squealed like a little girl, and did a happy dance when the image showed up just as clear as my tv. I even did the ultimate projector test-- I turned on all the lights in the house. I was still able to see the image, it was just a little paler. I have ordered a hdmi to iPad connector. I want to be able to stream movies from the iPad to the projector, instead of relying on the DVD player. So, I have yet to see what happens there. I am prepared to be amazed again. I would recommend everyone to buy this projector today, stop searching all the other projectors. This one actually works, and worth every penny.

I love this projector! I use it daily and have not had any issues with it yet. It's installed to my cable box, computer, and PS3 all at the same time and works wonderfully with all devices. I have put on 200 hours so far, and have no complaints!

I was so pleased with the quality of this projector that I bought another one for a family member as a gift. I have used mine to watch movies outside and they look amazing. I have never used a projector like this before, but I can't imagine what makes the more expensive options so much better. This one has been great!

I am content with the projectors features vs price factors. I know this is not considered a home theater projector ,but that's my primary use to project for my family on our apt wall with no screen. It might not be the perfect use of this model, but it is perfect for us. I would recommend if you are looking for a fun, flexible, and budget minded unit. Out of the box it was easy to get up and running. We are projecting an over 80in image . I connect my computer and or my Apple TV. The unit doesn't necessarily seem built tough. So I would not ever want to knock it around without a good carrying case. I doubt though that I would ever want to knock around any of the ones I have seen.

This is my first projector and for the price I paid I'm satisfied. Only svga quality (roughly 480p) so it's not the greatest but barely notice the pixels except when displaying small text. I'm definitely looking forward to upgrading in the future but for the person looking to try out a projector system but doesn't want to go all out right away I would definitely recommend this projector.

When looking for a projector, I was only looking to spend less than $400. I tend to take 6 months to shop for something that I really want by agonizing over reviews and reading about differences in technology, resolution and brightness. My usage is solely to add TV and movie watching from my laptop via HDMI or VGA in a room where I can't mount a TV without new wiring. This device sits on top of my bookcase that is attached to the desk where my laptop sits. I have a 10ft hdmi cable that stretches behind the bookcase and right to my laptop.
I use Win7 Windows Media Center (WMC) to manage the TV tuner attached to my laptop. I use VLC media player to play digital or BluRay movies.
I am not an audiophile and don't care about sound. That said, the volume coming from WMC does not seem to be loud enough through the projectors speakers. However, if I play it through VLC, it is plenty loud. When I am not using the built-in speaker, I plug headphones into my laptop to hear everything
It is extremely bright and has a great 15000:1 contrast. The blacks stay very black and don't look gray.
I have not tried using 3D glasses as of yet as I am shopping for something less than $20. I have tried the sample 3D videos to see how they play. You can also use this projector to play Youtube videos that offer a 3D mode in the same way as the 3D BluRay.
It's design is nice that you don't have to replace a filter. Airflow is really good. Also, dim mode when inactive and shut off when not connected. Great value!

I received the item on time.
I've used it nonstop since I purchased it, the kids love it, the wife loves it, the whole family loves it.
When I placed my order, I paid $434, while the price was $329 the day before, but I bought it anyway because of the reviews I had read and all of the research I had done, and nobody else had it in stock. I paid the higher price, and was happy with paying the price difference when I received my item. I've contacted Amazon regarding the price difference, and I purchased it on Dec 15. and even though I was out of the 7 day price difference policy, they were so great to me and issued a refund for the price adjustment.
I will always suggest Amazon to friends and family, and if I ever encounter someone buying a projector, I will certainly recommend this one.

OK. So the assumption is that you know what you need and are not under-buying your requirements. The resolution on this unit is quite adequate for my purpose, but I probably wouldn't showcase it in my living room as an alternative to my Sony LED TV. That being said, the price/performance points on this unit are admirable. It does have a built in speaker, but if you care about sound quality you'll go for an external amplifier. The interface is easy and intuitive. Accessories are a little pricey, so you may want to do some shopping around as $75 seems steep for a shoulder bag. The most perplexing feature is the VGA pass-through that allows you to both project and view on your PC at the same time. Not sure that I would ever need this.

I bought a 20 dollar mini display adapter for my 2013 Macbook pro and the picture is incredible. Simply incredible for the price. So bright you can see it without curtains pulled. Considering buying a second unit for my bedroom. Menu options seem fairly straightforward. My 1080 Movies play so beautifully that I consider watching movies an entirely different experience.
