I compared a lot of different projectors and was very happy with the choice of this one. Without having to spend a fortune, this projector does a really good job. It is easy to follow the directions and can project to a really large size.

This has been great so far. Only used it twice and its worked great. Nice hi def picture and I just put it on the wall. When I set up the screen I bet it will be excellent. Makes needing a big screen TV unnecessary. Im at high altitude and run this on that setting and it runs amazingly cool. Very good so far.

I'd had another projector for about five years by the time I decided to upgrade. I was nervous, I didn't really like the one I got originally but felt stuck with it, and didn't want to make that mistake again. I'm glad I listened to everyone on Amazon, this is a great little projector at a fantastic price. Good colors, works fairly well even in not-total darkness, easy to set up. I wish it had a horizontal keystone option but so be it (if it does, someone please tell me).

I got this for my backyard & love it. It's not great for daytime viewing but nighttime viewing is excellent. I haven't tried the 3d & you definitely need speakers but for the price it's well worth it.

Bought it on Amazon.ca.

I was a bit leery buying what seemed to be the lowest priced projector. However, it works well in a fairly bright room for slide show presentations. Not too heavy and it's easy to set up.

The following prevent it from a 5/5 rating:

1. No USB input.
2. Limited zoom.
3. Doesn't adjust left and right tilt.

If you can live with these three limitations, I recommend it. It's a keeper for me.

I researched projectors for a few weeks before I purchased to make sure I would get the best bang for my buck. I read all of the Amazon reviews on this one and everyone said it had amazing quality for the price and compared in quality to high dollar projectors. I decided to go for it and was absolutely blown away the first time I turned it on! I projected "Ice Age" for my daughter straight onto my tan walls and it looked incredible! You could see every detail such as all the tiny hairs on the animals. I had just purchase a 60 inch TV a few months previous and the quality was comparable. We usually project straight onto our white garage door and it looks amazing, I'm sure if I bought or made a screen it would really look good. Everyone that has watched a movie can not believe how awesome it is, I even took pictures on my cell phone and show it to people who are considering buying one and they also cannot believe it. You will need a sound system to go with it, the internal speaker isn't loud enough but what can you expect from a tiny projector. I use my sound bar system that goes with my tv and it's perfect. I have also even used my computer speakers when it was just a small group of us sitting around a fire and it was plenty loud enough too. I cannot recommend this projector enough!!!

I ordered this after reading all of the great reviews and it was a great decision. I ordered this along with the visual apex 90" projector screen and the phillips bluRay 3D dvd player with surround sound system. For less then $600.00, I turned my living room into a movie theater. It's very quite, it's very simple and the remote is a plus. Works perfectly in daytime too...

I have to say that I am not a tech expert so when the time came to buy a projector to watch backyard summer movies with friends, I did a lot of research. What got my attention was the awasome reviews this product had. People were not lying. This projector is so easy to use and the image is so sharp. I am using as of now a white sheet and the image it is still really sharp. I cannot even imagine how nice it would be with the camp chef screen that I am planning on buying. I still have to try it outside, but since it is still winter here, I would have to wait 3 more months to try it outside. I will try to update this review once I try it outside.

Absolutely incredible. I have the picture at about 120 inches when it's in the 16:9 ratio with a 3d bluray picture, and the picture is absolutely gorgeous. I have it working with a pair of viewSonic glasses, which you have to get the active shutter glasses, and it literally looks like there is a box in my wall with the action going on in the Inside. It is so incredible, I even have it on a dark beige wall and during the day it looks fine, at night it's absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend, the price doesn't compare to any of the others, it is not a 1080p player just so you know, but it seriously doesn't need it for movies.

Unit arrived - manual zoom did not work. Returned it for replacement/repair. ViewSonic KEPT IT for SIX WEEKS (They had my money and my projector - and I had a nice quiet room). I called, they said a replacement might have many hours on the bulb, whereas mine had only 5 minutes - and they would send MINE back. It came a week later. THE MANUAL ZOOM DID NOT WORK - AND - IT WAS A DIFFERENT SERIAL NUMBER - i.e, NOT MY PROJECTOR. It is impossible to contact anyone who cares - CUSTOMER SERVICE is the only contact - and they will politely inform you that they have no control over it. I ma certianly not going to send it to them again for another 6 weeks without the use of my theater room.
The projector works fine but I had to mount it 6 feet farther back than intended - in another room, shining through the door.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VIEW SONIC PRODUCT - ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF SERVICE

we use this for a movie project (we hook it up to either our laptop or portable DVD player) and project the movie onto our living room wall...it is awesome!!!! It's like having our own movie theater in our own home!!!! GREAT for date nights, family night, playing a special DVD for some particular event....THE only bad thing....this particular projector is not the latest version so it is missing USB input ports, which would be nice since I love putting movies on USB vice having tons of disks around...also, it is not the ideal projector if it will be used in a more than normal lighted area/room, but for our uses, it is terrific!

After doing some research on projectors, this one seemed to be the best quality for the price. I've owned this projector for about a month now and I love it. We use it as an everyday display for both cable and video games. The inputs on the rear of the projector do not lend themselves to coaxial cable hookups, so I bought a VCR from a thrift shop ($7) and ran the cable into it. Then, I used RCA cables to run to the projector. Along with some external speakers from my roommate and a universal remote for the VCR, we got the cable up and running for an extra $20. As for video games, the HDMI port make it very easy to set up and go. We use the projector in a very bright room with full wall windows nearby, which make the display a little dull during the day. You only notice the decrease if the display is dark (night time in video games). I am very pleased with this purchase and have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of it already.

Works well for general day-to-day projector use. Lightweight and portable, but doesn't come with a carrying case, so you'll want to figure that out if you'll be moving it around a lot. I knew the resolution of the machine going in, but expected it would be just a little better than it actually was when I saw it in person, but otherwise a great projector. Agree with other reviews that the sound through the device is poor at best, but what can you expect from a built-in projector speaker? Plan on integrating a separate sound system if you need quality sound.

I am loving this projector! I have had it about a week at this point and so far so good. It is very easy to use. I had it up and running in 3 minutes flat, just plug and play. I am throwing the image at about 17 feet and it is very crisp. The fan is quiet, but so is the speaker. It will do in a pinch, but you are definitely going to want to upgrade the sound on it. I just plugged in some old computer speakers and it works just fine for the time being. All in all, I am very impressed with this projector!

the projector works pretty good but I times I feel like its going to over heat if played for a extended amount of time. how do I prevent that from happen? why is that the screen can only expand up and down but it very limited to going left and right ?

Had for about 4 months and the bulb burned out, I contacted ViewSonic Customer support and they said theres nothing they can do for me. The bulb also cost 250 dollars.

I bought this for my wife to use at her school. She says she really loves it. "It does what I want it to do." I really do like it, too. I do wish it had a cover for the lens. I don't like the lens being exposed to the elements when moving and not in use. I also wish the front leg would be a spring loaded leg that would extend with a push of a button instead of having to "screw" it up and down. The leg also feels cheap to me.

In the end, and overall, I would purchase this again. It produces a bright, clear picture and I also like not having a filter to have to worry about cleaning all the time.

This little projector is tough. I bought the viewsonic case for it so I can tote it around, and it's taken some bumps and jolts already without any issues. The only thing I wish it had were rear leg height adjustments. I've had to jam something under the back end of it every time I need to adjust the display in that direction. Other than that, it's a great product for the price.

We are using this product in our sanctuary, which holds about 200 people. We use it for Sunday School presentations via Power Point. It hooks up to the laptop and works beautifully. We have a projection screen, like the ones used in elementary school, for viewing and the fonts and pictures are clear and crisp. We used it to watch a movie and the it was just like being at the theater. I would highly recommend this projector.

I was looking for cheap projector to play movies outdoors and this was a great find. It is capable of displaying just a little more resolution than a dvd (720 x 480), but you will still notice the difference in sharpness if you hook up something with more resolution output, like a blu ray player or a computer. Colors are vibrant and it is plenty bright for most purposes. You can easily project this on a massive surface (if you have the z axis space to move the projector away from the screen), but the individual pixels become much more pronounced the larger the projection size, to the point where it becomes a distraction. I found it looks reasonable on a surface about 7 feet wide. I don't think I would use it as my primary set to replace an HDTV because of the somewhat limited resolution, but you most certainly get more than what you pay for with this projector. I would buy again and recommend it to anyone looking to use it for the occasional outdoor movie or other novelty purposes.

This projector works great for our church building and is a very good price for what it does. The picture is fantastic and clear and easy for most to use.The picture resolution is very good and optimal for a standard 96" projector screen. I have nothing but good things to review about this projector, as I have used mostly viewsonic and Infocus projectors in the past for their ease of use, dependability, cost and quality. If your needs are simple and need to save money on a projector for a small-medium size meeting area( about 200 people), then this is a good one. This projector also has proven well for portability and is rugged enough for travel.

I was looking for an economical projector for outdoor movie night.. Im not a techy person or anything, but wanted a decent picture for sure.. The screen I'm using is a continuous piece of not quite stark white muslin fabric, measuring 8.5 ft high and about 18 ft long, with wrinkles:/...I can back the projector up enough to fill the screen almost completely with the picture still crystal clear!!! It looks fantastic!! Just like the movies:) it needs to pretty dark to get a good pic.. Don't expect to see it very well at dusk.. Also, if sound is your thing... Definitely invest in some separate speakers bc the built in one is suckalicious:/ but I didn't really expect much for sound after the reviews, so it was no disappointment... I can hook up my first generation iPad and get Netflix on it, but also bought a blue ray DVD player.. Both are easy to hook up.. The hook up for external sound takes a little finagling bc it has that little input port like you would plug earbuds/small headphones in to, so might need some adapter cords depending on the type of speakers you get.. I have been very happy with this purchase:)

This is a wonderful projector! Movies and shows look amazing! Gaming looks great too!

The best features that I have taken full advantage of are the auto detection for aspect ratio and keystone adjustment, simple and effective!

Only two things I don't care for are the produced heat and the throw ratio. I really wish the throw ratio was a bit smaller.

I WILL UPDATE THIS LATER TODAY AFTER USING THE 3D FEATURE.
Promised Update: The 3D is amazing, to say the least! Just tried the first 10 minutes of The Avengers with my PS3 using these glasses: B0085JBI6S

I will update this in the future after putting some mileage on my projector!

If you are like me, and stopped to look at this one for the price, then you have already read a lot of reviews.

So I will just repeat some things.

1.) The sound truly sucks. It is like listening to music on an old cellphone.
2.) It's great for playing video games and watching movies. I am blown away how nice it looks for only being 800x600.
I run a Sony Bluray player through it, as well as my laptop for games, and an xBox. All the text is readable, and the picture is great.

I bought this because my company moved me to Arizona, and I rented a house with some others that were dragged along. I already own a 55" LG TV back home, and did not want to buy another one. I bought a cheap 40 inch, but man I missed that big TV. So I figured I'd buy something I don't have yet. This and a 100" screen.

Look up "VideoSecu LCD/DLP" here on Amazon, to see what I mounted this to the ceiling with.

Can't beat it for the price.

I bought this for my husband's birthday. Let me just say that we are not the most well versed in a/v equipment and don't require the absolute best; we appreciate good quality at a good price. We didn't want to spend a lot of money, as this is mainly used to watch football games outside on the back of our garage. The picture looks great, even without a professional screen. The sound is not great for movie watching; it might be ok for sports, but I bought a nice set of computer speakers, which are good quality and portable. We purchased an HDMI extender, to run cable to the back yard, so we avoided having to get an extra cable box. The picture shows up well around dusk, which was a nice surprise since we didn't expect it to be visible until dark. All in all..we're very happy with the product. If you are interested in a projector for casual movie and sports watching, this is it! It has met all of our requirements and has exceeded our expectations at a great price!

I don't get were all the 5 stars come from either. I got the PJD 5234. The first one I got was broke. The HDMI plug point and sound did not work. Amazon replaced it with a replacement. The PJD has a higher resolution than the 5134 and it is OK. I don't know how the 5134 could be better but I guess its possible. I hooked it to the stereo for sound and had to go to the maximum on my stereo and max on the projector unit to get a reasonable amount of sound. I got this to use for PowerPoint so I didn't plan to use it for DVD's but after all the hipe with the reviews I got excited about the possibility. The picture is good but better get a 200w receiver to push what little sound the projector offers. The sound from the projector speaker sounds like a little tin can. You can hear it but don't expect more. UPDATE: sending back second projector. HMDI port worked once then stopped. It feels like these 5 star ratings are part of a pump and dump. You get professional writers to list very specific things, how GREAT they all are but not list any weaknesses. As people find out the truth then you start dropping the price until people stop buying. The Amazon ratings have been managed. I have lost my trust in them. Too bad. I liked having it as a source.

Indeed this is a great buy by all means as everyone says-- but not a word about the 3D glasses. Their website offers a pair at $120, which seems outrageous for one person's pleasure to enjoy 3D unless you are Bill Gate-- so anyone knows which other glasses work and where to get them and the cost?

I loved this projector the minute I had opened the box and had it set up to watch a movie outside. The set-up instructions were so easy, and the projector is is nifty even a teenager could use it! I am excited to use it for movies, computer presentations and use al the other features. Delivered fast and such a good buy

Perhaps a bit too early to tell, since I only had it for about a month.
I bought it primarily for church functions, to use weekly at our gatherings and to take with us when we go on retreats.
Even in lit rooms, the projector is easily powerful enough to show all that you want to show.

I really like this projector. It is very light and has a fast startup. I also purchased the Lightning Digital AV Adapter so that I could plug my iPad into the HD port. It works great. I loaded up some movies on my iPad to take to a campout and the kids enjoyed the outdoor movie.

I have used the Viewsonic twice, and I like it very much. It served my purpose. The images are very clear. I am very satified with the purchase. The only minor thing is that it didn't come with a manual to really get familiar with it.
The price is OK. Would I remond it? yes.

I can't believe the picture that comes out of this thing....
It's not 1080p... but believe me the quality is as close to it.
I bought 3d glasses for it (Okeba active shutter 3D glasses)... and i was blown away with the 3D quallity.
The only down side is the sound. Like everybody else who reviewed this, just get a separate sound system.
I got a Bose Soundlink Mini to go with it and i got myself a personal home theater

Awesome for games, movies and all the other stuff you can think for it!
All i know is that this projector exceeds expectation for how much it costs

A very happy buyer here! :)

The price is great.

The video is terrific. My first presentation was in a room with 140 people that wasn't very dark and the results were fantastic.

Cons: The speaker is mediocre. No lens cover.
