I do quite a bit of gaming but also listen to a lot of music and found these headphones to not only be comfortable for long periods of time but sound fantastic!I would highly suggest upgrading to a good soundcard if you don't have one. I purchased the Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card after being really disappointed with my built in card. This rectified the power/bass problem and since these headphones are not USB you don't get any software to help balance sound or give any kind of 3D surround at all.All in all a great balance between gaming and music listening for those who want the best of both worlds - as long as you have a decent soundcard.

It's kindof expected that headphones will only work so long, and these do not dissappoint on that front... it worked as expected for 2 months then broke... I actually still use it 4 years later as a pair of headphones, as only the microphone broke, not the headphones :) for headphones to last 4 years is pretty impressive, but the broken mic = bad news.

I got advice from an electronics expert in my family on what headset to purchase for Dragon Dictation. He said you need a good microphone for speech recognition or it will not work very well and he said Sennheiser makes some of the best headsets. I purchased this one based upon his advice and I could not be more pleased. Dragon was able to understand me quite well and the microphone is excellant. Thanks so much for making a quality product for a great price. The higher priced ones are no doubt even better but this one does more than suffice and I am quite pleased with the quality and price!

I needed a new headset for Skype and for listening to streaming music while working. The reviews were positive and I went for it. Works perfect for what I wanted. Comfortable, excellent sound quality. Glad I got them. Satisfied customer.

I only use this headset for Skype, and use it in conjunction with the Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter. It works great for that purpose: decent construction, good sound quality on the ear phones, good sound quality on the microphone. Having looked at some other headsets, this seemed to be far and away the best price/performance. Now that I've used it for awhile I can highly recommend it for computer telephony (e.g., Skype).

I received this Sennheiser USB headset in the mail today after being INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED in the Creative Labs HS-980 Fatal1ty Professional Series MKII Gaming Headset (Black). I use Skype to chat often, so a good microphone is very important to me. The mic is impeccable. While it does pick up some background noise (faint sounds of typing mostly), your voice will sound clear and concise. The headphones produce an excellent sound, however they are not overly comfortable. It is made of all plastic, and they are definitely something you will have to handle with great care. It has the build quality of a 20 dollar Logitech headset, but with the sound and voice quality that exceeds how much you will pay. I wear glasses, and I can say after I adjusted the headset appropriately it did not hurt to wear. The USB lights up blue when it's snuggly in place. I wish the cord was thicker, as I fear that it might be an issue with time. I would recommend this headset to anyone who wants great mic quality, and who takes great care of their property. This is not going to take a beating.

Great sound and features for less then 4 months on this one.It replaced a the first one I bought that lasted almost 6 months.I will see how the RMA process goes.Both of these lost outgoing sound in less then 6 months.

In 2010 I picked up a pair of these for gaming on my PC. The sound quality and capture of my voice has been fine but just recently the plastic post that the left ear cup swivels on broke, rendering them unwearable.I am contacting Sennheiser to see if I can get a replacement for the post but unlike my HD600s (still in great shape) they don't have replacement parts listed on their site. I don't expect any product to last a lifetime but I do expect them to last more than a couple years with careful use. Just posting this as a heads up to set your expectations accordingly. Good sound quality but not as durable as I would expect for the price.Update 02/21/2012: I just heard back from Sennheiser support. These came with a 2 year manufacture warranty so I can send them in for repair. Upped my starred score to 4. Outstanding response time and customer service. This was a bummer but they are taking care of it and that is what matters most. Purchase with confidence.

I just got these headphones and i dunno what to say. Very comfortable and really good sound. From the pictures these headphones might not look like a high end headphone but its better than all the headphones at the price its going for. I have been wearing this headset for 4 hours and does not hurt my head or ears. I was amazed how crisp and clear the sound was and it has bass as well. The mic is great, noise cancellation and also clear. I use to have a Plantronics Gamecom 1 and i loved it but it failed on me after a good 3 years use. After that i tried using the Plantronics 367 Closed ear headphones and those were horrible on the head. Felt like a clamp squeezing the hell out of your head, i hated them, so i decided to return them and go with Sennheiser since they are known for sound quality. And I might stay with Sennheiser.4 days later....mic failed. i do not know why. It was good while it lasted..Going with the razer charcarias gonna see if that is the headset for me.

Bought the USB version of PC151 years ago (one with the built in soundcard + USB/Mic adapter), and still using it for hours a day. It's the same headset except for the USB soundcard and USB-2-Mic jacks. This is a review without the USB features.Before buying this I used the various headsets available locally, which primarily were Logitech/Sony/Koss and wasn't impressed with the quality of construction and comfort. Let's face it, if you're going to wear a headset for hours a day it needs to not break in a year; fit well; doesn't hurt the ears; has superior sound; and the mic doesn't broadcast every tinny background sound (imagine the clicky-clack of talking in a room without wall-to-wall carpet).I wear a hat size of around 7 1/4 (about 22/23 inches) and this headset fits like a glove (those with full lobed ears this is a v-e-r-y good fit for you). Just tight enough to not fall off the head, but also doesn't squeeze the ears so hard to be painful. The headband is industrial quality with foam pad underneath that helps to keep it from sliding around (you can wear your favorite baseball cap under it). Mic holds it's position, and the black rubber part of the boom is adjustable, but find it fits so well adjustments aren't necessary. The mic will be just at the right angle with no adjustments (enough to drink/eat while the headset is still on) and not get the "pops" while communicating. Ear cups aren't squeesy cheap foam, they're firm open air, and surprisingly cool even after hours upon hours of gaming. If you also live in a hot environment (like in front of 2x24" heat blasting LCD monitors) you'd appreciate this headset -- unlike closed can designs which will have you sweating.Because this headset is "beefy", taking it off and on is a cinch. It's a heavy headset, not one of those iPod Lite types, so if you're used to can style headphones it'll feel quite the same.This has a very l-o-n-g cord (about 8ft), and comes with a cord winder which is handy if you're sitting close to your computer. So you can walk around your room with the headset on, at least enough to stand and grab something on a shelf and not get the cord pull. Plugs are Red/Green color coded despite at the time (2007) it wasn't standard practice.Sound quality is so good, that to ensure good voice communication, I made sure to buy more for the rest of the family. It's not 5.1, but for games without 5.1/7.1 audio (like MMOs), and voice chat, this is a stellar headset. It will make talking in the kitchen or rooms without carpet sound so much better (you do love that wood flooring, right?). Sound quality in Skype/Vent/TS/Mumble is standing next to the person quality.The only 2 issues with this headset is the ear cups aren't easily removable for cleaning (can be removed, but putting them back in would take time -- which is good, as these cups won't fall off); and the cord is really thin (be careful not to pull it hard -- it has lasted me for years, but there are folks who'll are harder on their electronics).Overall, these were well worth the price. I use it for all computer communications, be it in gaming; voice chat; and voice dubbing for videos. Short of a 5.1 headset for specific games, there's no reason to upgrade. It will last you easily 5 years.

I use the Sennheiser PC 31 stereo headset for long phone calls on my land line, and on my cell phone. This headset put an end to a long stream of complaints from callers, as I tried to find a good headset. I tried at least three different Bluetooth headsets. Callers complained about poor voice quality, and I was not happy with the sound of their voices, either. I then tried a headset intended for computer voice dictation. The call quality was much higher on my end, but callers complained that my volume had a tendency to drop. It turned out that the noise cancellation feature of the dictation headset involved a microphone that was very sensitive to its placement, and which had to be right in front of my mouth.The PC 31 headset solved these problems. The sound quality is great for phone conversations, and my callers are happy with the quality and volume of the sound coming from the headset microphone. Whenever I have a call, I gladly grab the headset, and plug it into the phone.To adapt the PC 31 to the telephones, I use a Headset Buddy 01-PC35-PH35 conversion kit. This kit works with my iPhone 4. I also have a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm adapter so that I can use the PC 31 plus the 01-PC35-PH35 cable with my wireless handset on the 2.5 mm land line phone socket. And I use the PC 31 without any adapter for Skype calls through the computer.Amazon also lists a 01-PC35-PH25 Kit, which contains two cables that are a variation of my arrangement, but which achieve the same result.

I am a radiologist at an academic medical center. My department purchased these headsets for use with our voice activated dictation system. They are terrible. Recognition is much worse than on the previous version (had "quick release" pink and green plugs that inserted into the USB). The functionality is very laggy with our voice recognition product (Dragon-based). I do NOT recommend these for voice dictation under these conditions.

I've been using these for half a year now and my only concern is that they are pretty tight which makes them not very comfortable for most people. I got used to the feeling however playing more than an hour doesn't feel as comfortable. That is the only reason I give them four stars. The sound quality is superior and with these you can hear a lot more things in PC games than you normally would. Tactically proven in Arma 2.

I find these to be well suited to very well suited to VOIP/skype use, and listening to background music at work. They are comfortable to wear for long stretches, and have good sound quality - and it's obvious Sennheiser spent the money where it counts - on the headphone drivers and the noise-canceling microphone. Still, you can tell there has been some obvious cost-cutting going on in the way the headband was constructed, similar to the way that many modern car dashboards look nice but feel cheap. While the headband doesn't feel flimsy in a way that it might break after repeated use, it certianly don't have the hefty feel of a product like an iPhone, either. On the other hand, this kind of construction is one of the reasons that the headphones are so light on the head - except for the pressure holding them on, you almost forget that you are wearing them.If you equate "high touch" with quality, you might be happier with the purchase of a more expensive Sennheiser model, or perhaps a Logitech unit. If not, there's little reason not to recommend these headphones, as they do a great job for what they were designed.

Truly the best sounding headphones for not only PC gaming, but computer based calls, and software such as Rosetta Stone and Dragon. Not to mention, simply listening to music on your PC and online streaming movies.I have tested these with a PC running Windows 7 and my iMac with the latest Lion OS. Possibly a bit easier to use with a PC, but with minor adjustments, I have to say the Mac sounds better.The best part of these headphones in multiplayer gaming. The noise cancelling feature is perfect for drowning out the chip eating idiots full of gas that have not left their chair in a week. For serious team playing and communication, it's spot on. Game play is more precise with sound effects I never heard before, and hints of sound that help with protection from the enemy. You can literally hear them coming with the slightest footstep. And of course the ear cups take you away from reality, nagging and telephone interruptions.The only downside is that there is definitely a slight break-in period. They may appear small at first, but after some custom adjustments, and a few hours of use, they basically become personalized. They are very sturdy and you just need some time to get used to them.

I have owened this headset just over a month now. Most reviews are right, in that when you first get this, it is tight on the head. Tight to the point it caused some discomfort, and I have a small head. After a few day, the headset felt like it was molded for just my head, and is almost unnoticable when wearing. It is lightweight, comfortable, and can go for hours.The other thing is construction. When I first got them, the felt too light, and plastic like, but compared to the Creative Labs WoW Wireless this is replacing, much more solid.Sound is amazing, with the G4ME1 USB sound card that is included producing some of the best sound out there. I use this for both work and play, and those who I talk to are clear and well heard. In games, this headset rocks in 5.1 (7.1 seems to loose some of the audio ques in some games) and I am now a lot quicker on the draw thanks to the sounds I am now able to pick out.I got this set as a refurb, and at the price I paid, would say it is a steal. I would easily pay the MSRP on this, and can't recommend them enough.

Well, I finnaly got around to trying these out this weekend. I have been using them as headphones to listen to music (great sound), but when I used them for skype it got a little wonky. Sometimes it seems the microphone would move from just the right area and I would have to readjust. It did do a good job of blocking out background noise, the problem occured when it thought my voice was background noise.All in all I would recomend these, I think once I get the hang of them they will be great. I just need to allow time to adjust for user error.

The sound quality is okay for most usage. I use it for Dragon, and the occasional late night music session. The only negative, I keep forgetting to turn on the microphone. Actually that's a good feature as Dragon will pick up almost any noise. The volume control could be better. Often one has to adjust system volume to get it right. Otherwise hearing loss could result.

Sennheiser knows how to make great headphones. Sure, Logitech and others make them too, but Sennheiser only makes audio gear, much of which is higher end and high end. For example, they make headphones that go for $1,500 (HD800). Because of their extensive knowledge of headphone production, even their lower-end gear is quite good. They just don't make crap.I think these headphones are great for the price. They have a solid feel and the ear cups are soft and not flimsy. Although you could spend more money and get better sound and microphone pickup, you won't be getting a big jump in quality until you at least double the price. So, for most casual audio people, this is enough quality. They have a sound that will not kill your ears. In fact, I suspect most ear bud listeners have no idea what good headphones sound like.If you are looking for a set in the under fifty price range, these are well worth a look. If you are buying a set for your kids, these are far better than what most of them have heard.

I can't figure out the problem and I hope mine is user error. I work from home and desperately need a headset with an effective noise canceling microphone. I bought these based on the product description and positive reviews, waited for my companion buddy adapter that allows me to take the mic and line out plugs and combine them into one plug for my iphone. I plugged the adapter into my iphone and was able to hear my test caller well. Though they were able to hear my background noise and voices as well.When I click the inline button to on (I assume it is turning on the noise canceling since there are no other instructions included in the package) I hear a repeating sound that interrupts my sentence and makes it impossible for me to have a conversation. It is so strange.I must have a defective headset? I can't imagine this would get so many positive reviews otherwise. Does the adapter cause a problem? Is the connection to my iphone causing the problem. I appreciate any user feedback.Thanks,Chris

Headphones: Low quality, not for listening to music.Microphone: Good quality, voice sounds clear and smooth. It picks up room tone and background noise if you have the mic volume up.Comfort: Good for a few minutes. It starts to hurt my head after a little while because it's a little too snug for me.Etc: It has volume control on the cord, which is useful.

I use this headset for calls from my soft phone on my laptop. The headset is very comfortable, not too heavy, and allows for some circulation so it doesn't get too hot.My calls were crisp and clear, and I asked a few of my callers how the voice quality was, and the reviews were positiveI prefer an over the ear headset, as in ear headsets hurt me,but often they too get hot and uncomfortable. I had these on for a few hour plus conference calls without issue.And in between calls, the music quality is great!

I used this headset the day I received it and found it to be excellent. The noise reduction is superb and the sound is great on both the microphone and headset. I wish there was a mute button as I used it on my PC for Skype calls and sometimes my background noise is loud and I don't want to interfere with the conversation so I mute my side. That's the only downside to this headset but then, I knew that when I got them. Just a suggestion. Well made, quality device that lives up to the product description.

After a couple of years the ear pads began disintegrating. Plastic material over the phone fragments then falls on the floor, sticks to your ears, and appears on your clothing.

These are lightweight, comfortable, quality headphones that you can use for gaming or just watching videos or listening to music on your computer.The only thing I would change would be to make them cordless. Otherwise, these are pretty dang perfect. I don't know what the price will be, which would really make or break the cord thing for me. If you don't mind the cord and the price is right for you, go for it!

In a nutshell, this headset has good audio, but is so uncomfortable that it is unbearable to use.COMFORTIf you take a look at other reviews on the Internet for this headset, you will notice that the main complaint is its comfort. Basically, it squeezes your head so tight, that after only a few minutes of use, it is hard to stand it anymore. I have a head size that is a bit smaller than normal, and even so, this headset was way too tight. To make things worse, the ear pieces, which are suppose to be circumaural and go around the entire ear, instead are so small that they press directly on most of the ear. My ears actually felt sore after using this headset. And if things could not get worse, they use imitation leather (leatherette) which feels exactly like it sounds - a strange synthetic material rubbing against your ears. With all the force pressing down on your ears, and this synthetic material, your ears begin to perspire pretty quickly and get hot. The headset is also very heavy, so if your ears don't kill you enough, the top of your head will start aching with all the weight on it. If it sounds like a bad experience, well that's because it is.QUALITYMy first impression when opening the package was: man this expensive headset looks really cheap. The stuff that looks like metal in the photo is actually plastic chrome, like what you find on a child's toy. In fact, I don't think there is any metal used on the entire headset. It is all very cheap looking plastic. It feels very fragile and delicate. There is no way this headset will be very durable, especially if you do a lot of gaming.ERGONOMICSThe volume control on the ear cup is very hard to turn. Most of the time, I had to use two hands to adjust the volume.AUDIOThe sound quality and the microphone quality are actually very good. But what use is that if you can't stand wearing the headset.RECOMMENDATIONSInstead of these, I would recommend the Sennheiser PC 163D which has great sound and microphone quality and is very comfortable (and they cost less).

Very good sound on the hearing end; very good voice transmission on the mic end. Lack of volume control makes this 4 stars.Light weight makes for comfortable fit. Also, requires a wind protector to minimize breath, p's etc.Note: On a Mac (10.7.4), I had to change the audio driver in GarageBand in order to hear my voice through the headset. Otherwise, would not work. AudioMidi app. did not do the trick.

A most versatile item: fine for music, online gaming, transcription, and especially for VOIP like Skype, Google talk, etc. Some of the reviews, especially the negative, compare this model to the higher-end Sennheiser noise-cancellers. Those models cost almost 10 times more...I routinely make Skype calls from noisy environments. My Skype contacts, during these conversations, consistently want to know the brand & model of these.

Works well as USB mic and headphones on Mac. Use with Skype and GoToMeeting. Good sound quality. Mic doesn't reverse, it's going to be on the left side period. You don't need the Syba USB Stereo Audio Adapter with this if you are just doing meetings. Only downside was being careful while getting this out of the protective packaging. No problem using on a USB extender/manifold.Update 2012-09-06: After using this headset for many months, there's a problem. Over time I realized that the output volume of these headphones is too low for Mac users originating GoToMeeting sessions. Without turning up the system settings to maximum output level, other persons on the GoToMeeting call can barely hear me. I have sometimes had to bend the microphone boom to place it directly in front of my mouth. This leaves me one-handed. I cannot recommend this headset for use with GoToMeeting. Will do more to check this with Skype desktop calls, but have not noticed a serious problem there yet. I'd like to say it's a GoToMeeting problem, but since you can't force GoToMeeting to make a fix, maybe you better find another headset that has a built-in pre-amp or more control over output levels.

I purchased this product mainly because of reviews and I was looking to have a headset which I will use for my business (VOIP). I am a startup and currently was using my iPhone 4 device with special app for that.Some cons and pros are below:Pros:1) speakers are not bad, better than average.2) Cable is VERY long for those who need thisCons:1) Microphone is REALLY REALLY REALLY bad, in fact this is the worst that I have tried so far. I sound like I'm talking in empty bucket. Very disappointed, brand was suppose to be good.2) Wire is so long that it maybe the reason for bad sound. Wasn't an issue for me as well.3) ear pads are foam, cheap - not a big deal though.4) Build quality is okay for the price, however very light and fragile (may not work for those who like throwing stuff around) :)This product is going back tomorrow and I'm not paying for shipping even.On a package and in the description it said: perfect for skype calls, which is absolutely incorrect.It is in fact really bad for skype calls since microphone is a trash.And honestly, I can not find a single thing which such headset may possibly be good for... As headphones it's inferior, as headset it's even worse..Zero stars for mic, other two stars are just for everything else, but honestly.. would you buy a car without a wheel?

Eargasm.As an individual who's used the stock earbuds that came with whatever I bought, experiencing a quality headset for the first time is comparable to having cheesecake for the first time.Chatted with a friend on skype to test the mic - he said he could clearly hear my voice.Cable length isn't a problem whatsoever; more-so a benefit as I can move around the room with the headset plugged into my desktop.Also, very comfortable. The earpieces feel like a puppy snuggling my ears.However, I have a large head and these fit me perfectly. A person with a smaller head size might find these loose.

I've been using these for a couple of years now and while the sound quality is excellent, the construction of the earpads is shoddy and they start to unravel and leave pieces of black pleather-like material everywhere. In addition to this, the in-line controller has been failing recently and has to constantly be re-adjusted at different volume levels in order for the sound to come out of both earpieces as opposed to just one. For the high asking price this headset isn't a very good deal.

I'm on my second Sennheiser headset and I didn't even bother looking at other headsets when I bought a replacement headset since the sound quality and comfort from this headset is outstanding.I bought the headset to use originally while playing WoW with some friends and every time the voice quality in sending and receiving was outstanding . . . which I could not say was the same with my buddy who sometimes had to fiddle with things a bit to avoid sounding muffled.I also have used this headset quite a bit to watch movies on-line, listen to music or playing PC games when I don't want to disturb my wife in the adjoining room. Again . . . sound quality is excellent.For the price I've been quite pleased.Now as to why I am on my second set . . . my darn cat who has a rubber wire fetish chewed right through the first set's wiring . . . which is why this second set will not be left out where she can chew on it.

I ordered the Sennheiser PC 310 Gaming Headset for my Hubby because he hates ear buds. He LOVES this headset! He said they are much better than his old set(which I broke)and he also refuses to let anyone else use them because he says,'These are keepers'!

I've been using this headset for 3 years and everything still works perfect. I was talking to a friend on vent and he asked me what mic I was using because it sounded so clear. This headset is also very comfortable. Previous headsets I had would hurt your ears after a short amount of time gaming, but I can wear these all day without feeling any discomfort. The collapsible feature is also very handy if you ever have to travel with it. It saves room in my backpack if I ever have to take it anywhere.

My daughter says this is finally a headset that is comfortable! She does a lot of homework on the computer while her sister plays piano so noise-cancelling is also a must. We have tried amny different ones, including some pricier ones that were highly recommended, but this one is the one that finally satisfied my excellent 13 year old student!

No complaints. Works great. Wouldn't want to wear it for hours as it is a bit heavy and cumbersome. But for a 45 minute telecon or WebEx - it is perfect. I'm ordering a second one for the office if they're still available.
