I bought a Hero2 3 weeks ago. It worked fine initially, but one day while taking a series of stills for a time lapse video, the still images went dark - almost completely black. I emailed technical support. They requested "samples" of the images. There is no way to attach images in their webform and I get redirect errors when I submit it. I told them that, and included the exif data from the last good image and the first bad image (taken one second apart). It has been 3 days since my initial inquiry and now 2 days since my response with no reply from technical support. I was going to try to exchange it with Amazon but they indicate that it would be December 29 before the other ships???? (today is November 25). I am returning it to Amazon and am very disappointed with this camera. Look at the forums: there appear to be a lot of problems with these cameras.

Comparing HERO to HERO2, the second option is fantastic, mainly recording in low light. If you're looking for a camera to record your adventure, spend a litle more money and buy HERO2 instead HERO, you'll note clearly the difference!

Loving my GoPro mounts, the durability, the video quality, sound quality is pretty good (depends on the mount), it's durable, they have pretty good support for warranty issues...the only drawback is the over-simple 2 button navigation--it's slow to change settings and I've messed up multiple shots due to the unresponsiveness too.
Overall, I highly recommend it and don't hesitate to buy extra mounts--they're all affordable and work great.

If you purchase this at least have the intelligence to get it from Amazon so you can get warranty or return privileges. Seems this 'still upstart" company has but 2 employees for it's entire staff, perhaps only one "Austin" who is a one man show at Go-Pro. Deal with a real bricks and mortar company, one with at least 3+ employees. Good product but Go Pro.....Get Big or GO HOME !!

11MP camera! I never thought such a small camera could have so much power!
Its easy to use with only 2 buttons on the camera.
full 1080p HD! 120FPS in WVGA for super slow motion is fun to watch!
you can easily carry the camera around in your pants pocket,purse,backpack,jacket pocket,etc.
The size on the HERO1 is the same size as the HERO2 but inside and outside its 2x better then the HERO1!!
great to get video clips/photos from the eye view(Helmet strap).
So many fun mounts and places to put it!
fun to capture the moment and share with friends,family and more!

-Extremely rugged
-Good video (in good light)
-Variety of mounts and other accessories both included and available
-Easy to use
Cons:
-Can only be mounted inside the housing, which has a fisheye lens (if you don't want the fisheye look, you can take the camera out of the housing, but I haven't been able to find any mounts for the camera outside a housing)
-Adhesive mounts can be so-so
-Some of the mounts can be a little floppy, make sure to get them nice and tight
-Mounts are not quick to set up, but that comes with the territory of them being so secure
Overall, I definitely recommend it.

This little camera/video recorder is so amazing! Great video, even under water. Full color, clear images and you won't believe how absolutely tiny it is. Makes it possible to relive your vacation or experience all over again.
We bought the chest strap so it can be used at the waterparks and obstacle course events. It worked really well at Great Wolf Lodge. Lightweight and easy to wear even with swim gear. With the Class 10 card, there was no delay in processing. The battery outlasted my family at the water park...we'll have to see how it does on the many adventures ahead!
Tip: a little Rain-x on the front keeps water droplets from distorting the picture when you are in and out of water.

I was not blown away by this camera. I used it skiing with a chest harness. You can see your skies in the snow but it gives you no of feeling being there. You can't get a feel for how big a mountain you are going down. Everything looks flat and you get no perspective. I think $300 dollars is too expensive for this camera. It's worth $100 max

The GoPro Hero2 is AWESOME. The video quality is twice as crisp as the Hero1. The camera is alo a lot easier to use, with new, easier to use buttons and menus. I great improvement from all past GoPros.

This purchase was for one of our son's who is working in St John. He uses it for a lot of his photography and is very impressed with it's performance. It was also a winner in a comparo by Car and Driver in a recent issue. This is just one more example of the excellent products that Amazon continues to offer at fantastic prices!

I'm loving this little camera, although after using a DSLR for a long while I am spoiled on the amount of detail and clarity in photos from a SLR type camera. I just want to warn anyone looking to buy one of these to be aware that the detail and clarity you are used to is not going to be found in the photos or video form this camera. Don't get me wrong the video is amazing for what it is, and non moving objects that are close up are in focus, but objects at a distance are going to be a little grainy/un-focused. I have tried this on two different Hero2 camera and they both output the same results. Very usable video though indeed, and I highly recommend to anyone doing any kind of outdoor sports or activity.

Ordered this camera to be delivered to afghanistan. delivered very quickly. as for the camera, very simple to use if you read the manual but even with button bashing you can figure it out. Great quality product and easy to use. Video quality is great, the full head strap sits great on your head, i got a video walkin towards a helecopter and looks and sounds amazing. cant wait to get it out and use it on the snow or my bike, ive bought the backpack screen (WORTH investing in) i have a 32 gb card to go with it. there is only one downside that i can see and that is the batrey looses charge if it is left turned off, i guess that is kind of a memory standby mode but not sure.

Videos work fine, however when taking photos every 5 seconds the photos have horizontal purple lines across the image. These purple lines cover anywhere from 20 to 80% of the image, making the photos worthless. Also with the SD card installed the display shows "NO SD CARD". This requires the battery to be removed and replaced, the purple lines still appear. I also bought a Countour Roam and the still photos are flawless. The Go Pro is useless for still photos.

Im into motorsports and have seen these used alot and finally decided to get one, and glad I did.
Pros:
Amazing video quality
Menus are easy to navigate
Pictures look alot better then expected, even without the ability to adjust shutter speed, aperature, ISO sensitivity, and lighting.
I got the motorsports edition with suction mount, and it is very strong, strong enough to pull a dent out of a car door, so no worries about that falling off.
Amazon shipping was great, had the free super savers shipping, and living overseas still received it 7 business days (9 days total).
Cons:
Haven't found anything to complain about
If your thinking about getting one, stop thinking and just buy it, well worth it.

Love it, I haven't gotten to use it much, but I've played around with. I love the settings you can change it to not such a wide angle, love that option. It takes very good still pictures for it's size, video's are great.

I purchased 2 of these cameras for my adult sons for Christmas (young 20's). They both already have video cameras, but the versatility/durability of these cameras is paramount. They took them snowboarding and mounted them on their helmets - produced an awesome video with great clarity. Really made you feel like you were there with them. The price is extremely reasonable - I didn't even hesitate (and I'm a bargain shopper) when I saw them...my only regret is not purchasing one for my teenage son...it will definitely be on his list!

At first I thought the GoPro was too bulky looking so I was looking at the Contour HD because of the aerodynamics. The Contour wasn't getting good reviews so I went with the GoPro HD Hero2. I'm big on how something looks in regards to the aerodynamcis but I don't regret one bit getting this camera. I purchased it to attach it to my helmet on motorcycle rides. It works great during the day and at night as long as there are city lights for obvious reasons. Awesome picture and easy to transfer video the computer. I've rode with this attached to my helmet at speeds of up to 130mph with no issues whatsoever. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. In fact I already have and a few are getting one for themselves!

A MUST for motorsports enthusiasts! I use it everyday on my GTR to take the best videos and pictures ever; no matter if it's day or night, video quality (at 1080p) is phenomenal. The suction cup mount included won't fall even at very high speeds (I have tested it around 160mph with no problem). Battery life is good and camera overall is very easy to use. LCD backpac is not included, remember to buy it since it becomes pretty necessary. Enjoy!

purchased 1/15/12 - used it while skiing, fun camera except that it is a real pain to put it on, I had it mounted on a helmet so you can't see what're pressing unless you take the helmet off; there is no back screen so can't see what you just filmed; I had to purchase the back screen extra (not cheap)plus extra battery (you'll need it because one battery runs out pretty quick). Get good memory card as well. In all its an expensive little camera but fun.

I'm an avid motorcyclist & car racer. Prior, I was a fan of the ContourHD - I felt it had a better (simpler) user interface for power on & recording. I had the ContourHD 720 and 1080 versions and had problems with both that required RMAs. To this day, my ContourHD 1080 stops recording after a short while.
I borrowed a HD Hero from a friend for an extended ride & a few races and was incredibly happy with the results. The camera was rock solid after getting banged around and the audio is light years better than the contour. I bought a Hero2 for myself when it was released and it's everything I've expected it to be. Accessories seem to be cheaper than the Contour as well.

This camera is so tough and easy to use I have a hard time not taking time lapse footage of everything. "Oh I need to run some errands... Better strap the GoPro to my hood..."

Well... I gotta say... That suction cup is AMAZINGLY strong. The camera was extremely stable and the 1080p was GORGEOUS! Can't wait to get this thing in the pool, strapped to my bike, and off road.

Bought this "top of the line" model at $300 for my son birthday. Very nice etc. but you cannot use it out of the box. It does not come with any SD memory card and hence you can't use it. At $300 they could have included a 4GB card to get us going.

This is the second GOPRO camera i ordered. The quality jump from the HD Hero to Hero 2 is really perceptible. The price is right. Have fun filming your exploits, and don't forget to upload them for the world to watch.

GoPro offers no phone number for customer support, so you have to fill out a form to send an email. Although they say they will respond in 1 to 2 days, I am now on my 4th and my third attempt to get a response. I was only able to record about 20 minutes of video before the battery gave out from a full charge. Either the battery is defective or the camera eats batteries. The footage I got was great, but if I have to swap batteries every 20 minutes of video it is kind of weak.

I purchased a GoPro Hero 2 motorsports edition from Amazon and love it. The video quality is amazing! Every bit as good as my HD Sony Handycam. I also saved a reasonable amount of money by buying it from Amazon.

the go pro is a great hd mini camera. it is very impressive you can film in hd with such a small device. the only problem I had is that a part of a tripod broke but I guess it must have been missuse.
also the seller was perfect, i received it on time and in perfect conditions, this is remarkable since it travelled all the way to argentina.

This camera has great features and with a little trial and error can be mastered. the only short comming is in the means to attach, since it has no ball mount, it cannot always be mounted vertically. The suction mount is unbelieveably strong, it was able to hold on the wing of an airplane at more that 175 miles per hour.

I would give 5 stars but i won't because when i went to the beach for a free surf session, the camera became fogged in less than 40 minutes of surfing. You must use some silica gel or the anti-fog stuff from GoPro inside the skeleton case for a good surf session. That's all folks!

2. Actual camera is awesome!
3. Haven't used the previous edition, but HERO2 is really small, nice to handle, good waterproof case, the Outdoor Edition has many different options for mounts.

not a single complain it is a great camera for outdoors, not so much for indoors or small places, but when it comes down to outdoors is the perfect toy ... I love just to set the timer and go on the lifts to snowboard always find funny/great shots when checking the results

Works great on the mountain...amazing how the image doesn't jump even while mounted on a ski pole downhill at high speed. Fun to download and video is easy to edit. Took a number of falls in powder last week end and the camera bounced just fine..tough little thing...great resolution.

The camera works well and takes great photos night-time snowboarding, but the mounting hardware is faulty. One plastic connection was broken in the box and the helmet mount came loose on a jump, camera fell on the next bump and the sim card fell out. Luckily most of the video footage was still in tact, but seriously if these cameras are meant for use in sports footage then I expect the mounting hardware to hold during a small jump. Disappointing.

This might be stating the obvious, but don't leave it till the first time you want to use the GoPro to familiarize yourself with the camera interface. It's apparently much improved by comparison to the original GoPro -- which can only leave me wondering what level of abstract interface anarchy that one sported. I'd rate this as still fairly confusing, with a lot of options and no obvious way to set your choices and leave the steep slopes of the menu tunnel you'll be spelunking your way through. Figure this out ahead of time, or don't be surprised if you find yourself giving up in frustration.

I used the original Hero on my 1954 Chris Craft, this updated version has many neat new features. The menu is so much simpler to operate - no codes are gone! Multible LED's on top, front and bottom are more intuitive, higher res for photo images and a multi photo burst mode. I really had fun with the slow mo feature, great for the hull slapping against the heavy lake chop.
The GoPro Hero lineup, is the best hands down. The price point is incredible.
