Goit the camera from amazon at a great price. The motor sport edition & bought some other bit & pieces. All arrive in time and my sister in law brought the camera back to me here (I'm living in South Africa At moment). Small tests done & pics. All look great & Fun. Will test it in Italy next week while swimming & snorkling & then finally this coming winter snowboarding. Overall very happy about it, as it is what it is a great little Cam for action sports & fun things. If I want to take better pics I will use my canon. So, well done Gopro.

I got this camera for Christmas, and wasn't able to get out and water test it until after the 30 day return period (big mistake). Despite being advertised as a waterproof video camera, the GoPro takes TERRIBLE underwater video. The lense does not compensate for the water distortion, and everything is very blurry. I called GoPro and they were very rude. They said I should have read the "fine print" in their FAQ section before buying the camera, since it "clearly" says there the video is blurry. I later found out that GoPro was fixing the problem, and developing a new housing with a designated flat lense for underwater use. I asked them if they would ship it to me when it became availible to make this right. Again, they were rude and told me to pound sand.
Don't believe the hype on this camera. You are much better off getting a normal, cheap point and shoot that does video and just buy a underwater housing for it. At least then you can see what you are doing through the LCD back, which you can't do with the GoPro. DON'T BUY IT.

I just don't get it. It is not intuitive. I have attempted to work with this unit several times and I can't get it. Very frustrating. Not worth the aggravation.

The camera was smaller then expected but when in the waterproof case it is a good size. I have had some problem with the camera crashing and going back to default, its not a big deal because I usually keep it at default just changing the aspect ratio.

GREAT sports/action camera! Operation is a breeze and images are outstanding. Mostly use it on bike rides and my friends are constantly amazed at the quality of both the stills and video. Recommend it? Heck yeah!

Great little camera. Takes wonderful highdef vids. Wide angle lens, so you get some fisheye, but it does a great job with action shots. Not a general everyday "take pics of the kid's birthday party" camera, but mount this on your bike or car and hit the twisties!
Software that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired, but you're going to want to invest in some video editing software anyway. I just use it to keep the firmware updated on the camera.
No viewfinder so lining up shots is a little tricky, but you can get the LCD backpack or, like me, the wi-fi backpack when it comes out. Had to buy some extra mounts, but that's to be expected.

its a big step above the original in user friendly features. you know at a glance if you are in photo or vid mode and for the price, the size and vid quality cant be beat. did i mention that i bought the hero 1 version than upgraded to the hero 2 because of the video quality.

I'll keep this short. I was in a motorcycle accident and broke my arm, due to being cut off by a bad driver in a car. The police didn't even bother finding out what happened and blamed me for the accident. I had no proof and no witnesses, so I couldn't even take the case to court. After that I told myself, never again.
I now ride with a GoPro, to film and document my daily motorcycle commutes. It's also fun to bring along on weekend rides. It works great, I've had no issues with it, and I understand its limitations. For the price and for my use case, it can't be beat. Highly recommended.

I have been following this item for 4 months. GoPro is a little bit like Apple, good luck trying to get a discount on their products. After several months, the price dropped down to $256 from $299 so I bought it. What I got was not a brand new item but one that had been opened. I have no way of knowing if it was simply opened and not used, or if it was used for the full 30-day return period. It was obvious that is was opened because it was no longer in "Shrinked-Wraped" plastic but instead a plastic bag. Original cardboard box was torn in a few places. Amazon gave me no problem returning it and even paid the S&H.

Very easy to use, an efficient stabilizer, a wide angle and depth. You'll be amazed by its abilities and the quality of your films. The best ones in extreme conditions.
Without going so far, just fix it on the roof of your car when crossing beautiful places -parks, lakes,... drive slowly and film. So different from camcorders ! you'll film what you really see. Then enjoy on a screen!

I played with this camera after my cousin bought it and considered buying it myself. The camera takes fabulous pictures within its intended application and it has a ton of options. What disqualifies the product is lack of warranty - you buy is "as is" so if it breaks the day after, hey, tough. If the manufacturer is not willing to stand behind its merchandise, who will?

This is a must own for any outdoor enthusiasts. I took a friend's GoPro on vacation this summer and got some great underwater video and some absolutely beautiful shots with this camera. Sadly it was stolen from me, so I had to purchase another one for him, but I will definitely be buying my own as soon as I possibly can.

Really nice piece of equipment, it's a little heavier than I thought it would be but the image is amazing and after a few tests and a long time reading the manual finally managed to make it work just the way I wanted it to, highly recommended.

This was a B-Day present for oldest son. He has used it on various dives in SoCal and Morro Bay CA. The only comment he has made other than "This is Flippin Awesome" is that trying to use the controls with dive gloves on is very hard. Water off of SOCAL is cold and full gear is required on a dive.

GoPro customer service said I should have known better. Outdoor GoPro Hero2 is advertised for biking and has "assorted" unspecified mounts. Silly to have thought that among the included assorted mounts for biking was a handlebar mount. There is one available on Amazon for under $20 bucks, but a disappointment with GoPro approach and customer service.

Great picture quality easy to use. Battery did die quicker than expected but I bought the extra battery packs and external charger. It was nice to be able to capture the awesome experiences and share them with friends. Great product

We were really excited to receive this product because we planned to take it on a vacation to Hawaii.
The Pros: Video looks great
- Decent in low light
The Cons: Video is 170', which I know it says in the description, but you don't realize how bad it looks until you actually use it yourself. Maybe professional camera people can shoot the excellent advertising videos, but the average persons videos don't look the same.
- A piece of the arm (plastic black) was broken when it was received. Had a small crack.
- The go pro case fogged up underwater (as if water was getting into the case).
- Most photos are terrible, very few good quality ones
- Underwater photos and video is particularly bad. Very blurry. I read online you have to purchase another filter and case to fix this problem. For all the additional filters, cases and accessories you have to purchase you might as well buy a good HD camera and underwater casing (two products only) that will shoot great pictures.

I started using my GoPro Hero2 and it was quite good, but after only one month that I bought the product simply does not turn on anymore.
I tried to turn it on with the troubleshooting tips (GoPro website) and it did not work!
So I have contacted GoPro assistance and they replied me quickly, but unfortunately I live in Brazil and they do not have assistance here.
I saw on internet lots of consumers with the same "turn on" problem. So, as international shipping is quite expensive, I do recommend that if you are planning to buy one, verify first if there is local assistance in your country.
USD299 is quite expensive for for 1 month use camera!

I bought this camera for my son who plans on using it attached to his helmet for jumping from perfectly good airplanes, helicopters, etc. He is in the military and has frequent jumps. So far he loves it, and plans to use it also for kayaking.

1. Pretty good quality video (noticably better than the video quality of an iphone4)
2. Burst mode is pretty nice. Works exactly as advertised. Captures high-speed shots nicely.
3. Waterproof case is amazing. This camera would work VERY well for scuba diving or snorkeling.
4. While I have not tried it outmyself in video editing, the 120 fps mode at WVGA could be pretty handy for high-speed video as well where HD isn't an issue.
5. if HD is an issue, 720p@60 fps is nice and silky smooth.
Cons:
1. No flash of any kind, when taking pictures indoors, the quality/blurryness will be the equivalent of a point and shoot camera without the flash.
2. When waterproof case is on with waterproof door, VERY little sound can be heard in regards to talking/ambient noise (could be a pro depending on your goal I suppose)
3. Currently only 1080p@30fps has the option to select FOV. all other options are stuck at "wide". When taking "normal videos" indoors, the wide setting makes the edges of the video look quite curved.
Overall this is a quality unit and a nice addition for anyone who likes to take video while outdoors and doesn't want to risk damaging a more standard camera/camcorder.

It's tiny, the mounts are nice. But mine has quality problems...
1. Photos taken has severe color problems. In many of the photos taken, half of the scan lines are purple... (Seems that the green channel was just missing)
2. The UI sometimes freezes... I have to take the battery off and insert it back to get it work again.
3. Video looks fine, but the color looks worse than normal cameras (eg. comparing to my Canon S95). (This is not quality problem)
Especially, the first problem makes the still photo taking function unusable... (You won't know the photos were ruined until you get home and connect it to your computer) Because of the problems, I'm returning it, don't know if I could get full refund..

When I received the camera in the mail, I was very surprised with the packaging and the quality of the product. I was really loving it. When I got the camera out of the box and tried to charge it, the red light was blinking quickly, meaning it was not charging properly. I tried using the camera but it would not turn on. Finally, after much fidgeting, i was able to shoot some pretty incredibly video outside in my yard, but the camera shut off again that night.
It has not worked again ever since. The battery will not charge, and the camera will not turn on. Will hopefully be receiving a full refund for this product.

I wish I could rate this camera. I ordered this camera on Sat. the 9th with 2 day shipping. I checked ups tracking and it was out for delivery today the 12th, 9:00 p.m. came and went and no camera, I checked UPS tracking again and now its to be delivered Thur. the 14th. I'm taking a hot air balloon ride in the morning and was going to use this camera to film it with. Looks like I won't be filming my ride after all. Thanks UPS for the screw up and Amazon for using such a worthless carrier.

Got this for my boyfriend as an early birthday present for his motorcycle. It's absolutely amazing! He's currently using it for his motorcycle, our scooters, and his fiddy and during the winter, he will be using it for snowboarding. The waterproof casing is awesome as well. Shipped immediately, got it in time for his track session that weekend and overall, we're very happy customers!

If anybody baulks to get it or not, I recommend strongly to buy it.

The new GO PRO HD HERO2 has outstanding picture quality and a wide angle shot. There are many pros and cons for this camera though. I bought mine from best buy but thought I should help some of you out who are thinking about buying this. The new go pro was a great buy at only $300! I took mine out to record me riding my quad. I bought a HDMI cable so the videos could be watched on the TV in the trailer. I came back with 4 videos on the go pro and was excited to see how it worked. The first to videos turned out fantastic the quality was simply amazing. The next two videos were black the in tire video, just black all i could here was audio. I was extremely disappointed, but since I had the highly recommended warranty I returned it and got a new one that works perfectly.
Pros:
Outstanding Video and picture quality
Menu is way easier to navigate then previous version
Cons:
The audio is very poor and sensitive it picks up lots of noise while touching the go pro and virtually no noise while recording.
It only recorded in black in some of the videos.

The seller is top notch, highly recommended for ease and speed the order came to my doorstep. The camera is superb, although gopro could improve low light to night capture capability in the next generation. Otherwise, this is the camera to get, as it beats some dedicated handy cams on the market. I'm not too negative about the nickel and diming of accessories, mounts, and such, the camera is a good value as is.

i`ve had more trouble with these cameras than you can shake a stick at,ive spent over 500.00 on accessories,,first one i got,the new computer i have did`nt recognize it so,had to send it back to gopro,took them 2 months to send it back to me,second one eats batterys,darn built in battery warmer drains both batterys in alittle over an hour,and at some point the camera shuts down and won`t power up unless you take out the battery and let it cool,,,,any one else out there have these issues ??

Charging- When damage is most likely to occur due to the fact that any protective shell is going to have to come off and with the crappy battery life, this will be often.
The LCD attachment- Renders the head strap useless because the back of the unit becomes deeper which prvents the camera from tilting flush with the mount. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Maybe they sell some sort of extention for this overlooked problem, i don't know.
Forget about sound... Your faced with a choice, sound or full elemental protection.

Highly frustrated with their slow support response. Tested unit thoroughly indoors worked okay with very short HD clips. But BOTH times out in the field, 1080p 30fps video was recorded with 80% black frame and all video squished to the left side. Nothing on support forums, no response from multiple support inquiries (despite their 2-day response "promise"). People excited about this device will probably read this and think "oh well, that won't happen to me". Just hope it doesn't. Thanks to Amazon support a replacement unit is on its way. Good luck otherwise. Very bad first impression of this device, since so much recording effort was lost due to unit failure. Disinclined to try recording with it again due to this poor experience. So much hype and promise, and it failed when it mattered the most. Will revise review if replacement unit shows itself to be more reliable, but after this experience, cannot really give it more than 4 stars even if things go great. UPDATE: The replacement unit from Amazon works great and has been to many places. Just hope you get a good unit and don't need to talk to their support.

Thus far, this cam is pretty sweet. The video is pretty solid. The camera is easy enough to use. I wish there was a Gopro sourced solution for the underwater blur. I ended up getting the SRP Blurfix and it's fantastic. I am giving this 4 stars due to the known fact that it blurs underwater and there is nothing for it... yet. I know Gopro is saying they'll have something in the new year (2012) but still, this was a known issue with the first one too... so.. eh?
To those complaining that this cam isn't as good as a $1000+ DSLR or the like, what are you talking about? 1) Go ahead and throw that cam in the water or drop it from a height of 6ft and let me know how that works out. I am a photographer myself and I appreciate this camera for what it is. I realize the video isn't going to be the supreme best, but if I wanted to take my pro DSLR cam underwater, that would set me back about $3k or so for a good case. Eh, no thanks. The video is really good for those moments when there is a high risk of damage.
