Thousands of these cameras are already in the field, doing everything from people's vacation videos to capturing footage for reality TV. Not much new to write that hasn't been documented already, so we'll just say that despite the obvious lens limitations, it's a great little gadget that generates some really nice, well-balanced images.

It is an excellent product except whoever thought making a waterproof camera not float is a genius. Lost it the 2nd weekend I had it at the bottom of the Kern River. *Note: it will not float unless you have the float attachments which cost extra.* $350 down the tubes. Audio quality is pretty poor when the waterproof backing is on too... Other than that the camera is pretty cool.

I get the Hero2 which I have been looking forward to for awhile, take it out of the box, get to the instructions, and the first thing it says is insert a SD memory card, I looked through the box again no memory card. I don't have time to do a days worth of reading just to find out that you have to buy it separately. Everything you need should be in the box or say that it is not in big letters somewhere on the top somewhere.

I've made a living as a video production professional for 22 years now, and I can safely say that this little camera has no right to produce footage that looks as good as it does.

I'm still amazed by the quality. Great wide angle, great mounting options, and the image quality is great. It's obviously no HDCAMSR, but I can find plenty of uses for $300 and it cuts seamlessly with footage from much pricier cameras.

Gopro is the coolest thing in the world! I've been filming just about anything you can imagine!

Vegas trip, ocean kayaking, cove snorkeling, surfing, cliff jumping, hill-bombing on long boards, water balloon launching, sky diving, bungee jumping, and the list goes on!

This is the greatest gadget ever invented... get yourself one!

Beware! The Hero2, even with the latest firmware update, does not produce video that is compatible with iPhones. To get the video on an iPhone requires first transfering the video from the Hero2 to a computer, then converting it, and then uploading to an iPhone. This is very disappointing.
Also, keep in mind that while the camera can go underwater, it cannot record video underwater since the lens produces too much distortion.

I use my Gopro Hero2 at my job. It is a great video cam for my truck. I film job-sites mostly. We took it on vacation and have hundreds of hours of video from hikes and bikes. I have not purchased another Gopro Hero2 for my wife. It is super easy to use, it comes with lots of extra mount pieces and the battery seems to last forever. If you go to youtube you can see thousands of videos that people have taken and a few of mine. I will tell you my first camera developed a rattle inside and I used the email service. I had an answer in a couple of hours, send it back and we will fix it. I sent it back and within a few days they sent me a new one. Wonderful service.

We are so excited to have purchased this product. Our family members are avid mountain bikers. Although we'll use it for other sports, as well, it will primarily be used for that. On the test run in our neighborhood, the quality of the video and the ease of use of the product was spectacular! We researched some other products and watched lots of videos...we couldn't find anything comparable for the price.

Great HD capture, but I have to return mine since from day 1 it wouldn't reliably turn on :( Pressing the power button would SOMETIMES turn the unit on. I had to remove the battery and SD card.. fiddle with it for a few mins, then reinstall the items - then SOMETIMES it turned on.

We'll see how the fix goes from GoPro - good service for RMA at least.

It is fun. Helmet strap is wobly. Video is blurry so you have to download a program to make it stop skipping. Overal it is great for all uses and completly waterprof.

This is great little product and is quite heavy for its size. The photos it produces are not stellar, but it's small size and compactness makes up for it. I bought this camera so that I can record my drive to and from work. I've seen to many accidents and too many near misses from other drivers. The resolution is fine enough that I can see license plates on the video. I don't know if I can use this as evidence in court or insurance claims, but at least I'll have a video record of the violation. I know that I'm only recording what is happening what is in front of my car, but it's better than nothing.

Camera's overall build quality is far from good. For an action cam, at this price, it's not the best deal I've made. Suction pump works great and holds on to almost any surface, including wooden tables. But at only 3rd usage of the camera, the 3-way Pivot arm is cracked from 2 places. With no shock, no bump, no hit at all. By the way, the 3-way Pivot arm and Suction Pump itself has different kind of plastics. Suction cup mount seems tougher than any part comes with the package.
With HDMI output, live previewing is a giant pro.
Camera has a good and gradient adaptation between auto exposure levels.
Not yet tried underwater but tested on a rainy day, seems good.

Last word: This is a nice and practical camera to buy on the market with this budget, but could be better using stronger raw materials.

When recording video, i keep getting a rattle sound in the recorded audio whenever the camera moves / shakes even when i shake it with or without the housing it makes a very noticable rattling sound from deep inside. it sounds like something is loose and shaking around inside!

When contacted their customer support they recommended i do the following:

- If it is the buttons that are rattling on the camera itself, you may try placing a piece of tape over the buttons to secure it in place
- You may wish to insert some small pieces of foam
- You may want to try using some electrical or duct tape to tighten up the fit

This product supposed to be used for sports activities which include motion!! I should use a duct tape!!!

I thought this product is manufactured by a reliable organization which have some QA / QC processes, but when i read the below in your email, I lost faith in your product.
I will send it back to Amazon.com

If you like to have audio with your recorded Video then stay away from Gopro.

When I first received my hero2 I was pretty excited to try it out. However, right off the bat it started having incredibly weird issues where it wouldn't turn on despite a completely charged battery and would bizarrely turn itself on and off.

After a few e-mails with tech support it became clear that I was going to have to send it back. Tech support responded quickly and despite not being able to duplicate the problem, they sent me a new camera at my request. They also threw in a few additional adhesive mounts in lieu of return shipping costs. I couldn't be happier.

Since then I've used it several times. The video quality is great, the housing and mounts are sturdy, and the user interface is straight forward.

One helpful tip - if you plan on taking the camera underwater make sure to do some research and pick up a flat lens otherwise your video will be slightly blurry.

I bought this camera to record my dives. Everything looks good until you see the first results, the footage is completely blured! Don`t be fooled when you read the housing supports 60m depth, maybe it does but it is not appropriated to make footage underwater. I am very deisapointed because they doesn`t mention this problem in the manual. There are some solution available for sale, but you are going to change the original housing and you can`t be sure it will support deeper dives.

All the packaging looked brand new but after i took the camera out of the clear housing the camera itself had a ding near the shutter button. It also had a little dirt on the back but that could just have been dust. I tested the camera and it worked fine but still debating if i should send it back. Not sure if it was refurbished, used, or just was a return but when you buy a product that is advertised as new that's exactly what you should get.

Had it a couple of weeks and been testing it out on cycle journys around the city. Does a good job except when facing into the low morning sun (and really any camera is in trouble in those circumstances). With the head mount its a little hard to guess quite where it is looking but a bit of trial and error means its working for me all right. Hint: if your doing the same try mounting it so its pointing behind you which can be pretty interesting if your going through traffic

UPDATE: After several months of use, the HERO2 has been worth every penny. Video quality is fantastic, light adjustment is quick, and functionality is good. We added the LCD Bacpac accessory, and this has really added to the versatility. Most important, this camera has survived snorkeling, mountain bike wipe-outs, roller coaster rides, skateboard crashes, and drops to concrete and rock. Still works perfectly.

This little camera is great. Outdoor video has been very good and easily imports to our Mac for editing. Indoor video is a little dark, but still acceptable. We gave this to our young son for taking video on his bike, skateboard, etc. and he has had no trouble at all navigating the menus, mounting the device, and just overall getting it to work. He has lots of plans for this camera! It's already been dropped hard twice with no ill effects. So far, so good!

I tried a GoPro1 and wasn't that impressed, so I tried the GoPro2 and was very pleased! It's even better when you do the firmware upgrade and get more FOV's.

I have mounted the BlurFix lens for underwater. My only complaint is the way bright objects get "blown out" on underwater video, but my G12 had the same problem, so maybe it's something I'm doing wrong.
I got the LCD Backpac for Christmas, and love it for handheld underwater shooting.

My only other complaint is that the buttons are hard to work wearing 5mm wetsuit gloves.

I have the hero 1 and I just bought the hero 2, why?
1. HDMI out
2. red led record button on all sides.
3. Better video in low light
4. Menu buttons easy to navigate
5. Wi-Fi lcd

But you can save some money with the hero 1 if the above things don't matter to you.

I've had my eye on one of these little cameras for a while and I finally treated myself to one. I primarily wanted one for time lapse photography and this camera does not disappoint. I did experience reliability problems with the original software. After frustrations such as time lapse mode not working more than once per charge and the battery draining even when the camera is off, I checked to see if there was a firmware update. There was and since installing it, the camera has worked very, very well. I am still playing around with the settings but overall I am very happy.

I am not as happy with the suction mount. It really needs a swivel. GoPro should also include a few extra screws; especially the longer ones.

the camera is awesome, after all those junky and bulky,dslr s, I am very happy with the speed, performance and user friendly capabilities, that is what we need!!!

I got the GoPro Hero 2 a few weeks ago. This camera has never let me down as I have filmed biking, skiing,and skateboarding. The videos come out clear every time and the camera is easy to use. My friend used his for wakeboarding and it worked well in the water. This is the perfect camera to get if you do a lot of outdoor activities.

Just received my "new" GoPro HD HERO2 camera two days ago and followed all the instructions about charging it and the thing will not power on. Now I have been dealing with GoPro customer service on trying to get a replacement camera. Customer service is very slow. You write an email and wait 24 to 48 hours for a response. Just about to return it to Amazon for a refund.

My cellphone takes far better video and still-pictures than this camera. I tried using it inside with all the lights on (not exactly a low light situation, but granted, not as bright as sunshine) and the video was very blurry and dark. I then tried to take a still photo, which turned out so blurry it was almost unrecognizable. The waterproof case completely muffles the sound recording ability and when you touch any of the buttons it results in an anoying crackling noise. The only redeeming feature of this camera is that it has a cool waterproof case, but unless you only plan on using this camera in direct sunlight I would not buy it. At $300 this basic 2-button POS camera is a complete waste of money. You can buy a much cheaper "real" video camera and put it in a plastic bag, and if it happens to get ruined go buy another one and be money ahead.

I have always wanted to take video of my road trips across country but sticking my camcorder to the windshield didn't make for a great picture. And I'm not about to stick a $500 camcorder to the outside of my car and have it subjected to insects, road grime, and weather. Now the Go Pro was created to so I can overcome my fears about attaching a camera to the outside of my car. The suction mount is really strong. There were times during my last trip where my speed crept up to over 80MPH and the Go Pro didn't budge. And the video quality is good.

The GoPro HD HERO2 was a piece of gadget I was looking at for a long time. A friend of mine showed me the videos he had created using the original GoPro HD HERO and all the videos looked amazingly great. This convinced me to go for the HERO2 and boy am I glad I bought it. This is one gadget I have recommended to a lot of friends who are into outdoors stuff. Great stuff GoPro Team.

Nothing like a doorless helicopter ride around the Hawaii Island, and having fogged footage.
I barely use the camera, everything is still in brand new condition and the lens fogged up.
I would expect more from this camera for all that it claims...

Gopro Hero2 is an amazing smart camera, wich is a wish for everyone who loves sports and good quality images/videos. I bought in Summer Guru's Amazon store, because they were the cheapest one (cheaper then Gopro itself) and had good reviews. They sent it pretty fast. definitely is the place to buy yours. I do recommend this guys.

Great little camera. I use it as an "onboard" camera for HD footage of flights as well as time-lapse projects. Absolutely great quality footage from a very small package. Do buy a 32gb class 10 SDHC card in order to use the 5 shots per second feature.

Takes fantastic video for it's size, and is light but tough.

I'm still working on the audio -- my last autocross had lots of pops and cracks where the mic was being overloaded, though my tests on the road never had this problem. Cases are $40 -- if you car about the quality of the audio, buy an external mic and drill a hole into the case to plug it in. I will likely do this soon.

The suction cup is so much stronger than I guessed ... the ones I've had for gps units could barely stick to a window, but this will grab onto anything that's fairly flat and hold tight.

The battery life isn't quite what I'd hoped for (claimed 2.5 hours, but even recording only 5% of the time, I'm lucky if I got 1 hour at the race). Bring a cord to charge it if you're going to be filming for very long.

Very nice little package that shoots awesome videos. lotsa good settings but ya gotta pay attention to them when you start shooting or you might be taking pictures vs videos or bursts of still shots vs videos...but it was our first outting with it so a bit of learning is req'd...but pa attention to the settings and you will be very pleased with your purchase.

Got this for a shoot I had for TRANS AM. Used it for all the shots I couldn't get with any other camera, or at least wouldn't want to risk other cams in these situations. lol.

Blended pretty darn well with my other much more expensive cameras. Holds up pretty well with some saturation boosts which you will want to do to match up with your A cam. For the price, there just is not a better option, especially with all the included mounting gear.

The seller was able to get it to me before a major trip zip lining that I will be going with a few friends of mine so now I'm ready to film this event. I got a really great deal on this item after doing extensive research on the product and price matching. I'm very pleased with the product itself ands it's features.
