Being an outdoor enthusiast, I always want other people to join in and have some fun with me. Somethings I do, like spearfishing......well I just can't get many people in the water to do that! :) ??? Recently I bought the gopro, strapped it on my head and took off underwater. Keep in mind, this is stock out of the box, no fancy lens etc. Just a stock gopro hero2. Upon playback, the 1080p is awesome. Crystal clear above water. Cut to the scene where we step off into the deep blue and clarity is phenomenally good. Sound quality is unreal. I've used it for 2 dives and got great footage. First dive my buddy got bit by a triggerfish and I have it all on vid. 1080p no less. It was great. You can even make out the cuss words lol. Second dive was a deepwater hunt on a large wreck. Tropicals and other types of fish all over. Nurse sharks sleeping in the wreck. And at the end, a great shot of a big bull shark running in and bowing up to take my AJ (I missed thank God) before realizing there was no fish to take and then cruising around me slowly and then leaving the area. It was awesome. I think I have gotten others excited about getting in the water (no they didnt see the shark part ;) Love my gopro Oh....the battery sucks. 50 mins max film time with the stock battery. Get the wasabi power pack!

These things are durable, strong on video, sesitive on sound, and practical for any mentions of recording life. I've used it for everything from diving into pools to racing on the track at 110mph.

I took this camera whitewater rafting down the New Lower River in West Virginia class 3- 5 rapids. The camera was amazing is capturing the rafting trip. I took a few spills in the river and have it all on captured to disk. Its a great camera!

If this isn't the coolest and most versatile sports camera system on earth I don't know what is. Menu is well laid out, not confusing and ready for you to get the video you've always want to try for yourself. You won't be disappointed...

I am going to you a favor and write the review that I wish I had read before I had spent my money on the Hero 2.
While the Hero 2 does come with a great set of accessories that allow it to be incredibly versatile it does have one MAJOR flaw. The Hero 2 is notorious for not only not charging but also not turning on. Right out of the box my hero 2 won't charge or turn on. The only known user fix is to remove the battery and put it back in and try charging it then but that hardly ever works. This is a major flaw and the worst part is that it's incredibly common. There are hundreds of posts of hero 2 owners that cannot use the hero 2, and with GoPro having the terrible customer support that they do, you are better off looking for another camera.

I've tried it yesterday in the group ride and while I was reviewing the videos I've shot on the laptop I was amazed with quality of the videos and the wide angle view, I give 10 stars if I can.
As for the seller I would give him ZERO star rating for not inputting the right description since they've mentioned that it is used as new but when I received the package I've discovered that the case had some scratches as well as the cam from its edges which really disappoint me, the reason which made me buy it used was that it had a 16GB SD card and handlebar mount along with the purchase so never be tempted with what sellers throw free stuff with the goods since its sometimes to cover a major flaw!!

It is a gopro. Works wonderful for a series of stuff. I personally bought so I could mount it on to my car and do interesting shots of roads and or landscapes. Simple to use and price is relatively low. Audio quality is low but you dont buy a gopro for audio. Image quality is amazing for such a tiny little camera.

So far, my disappointment has only been that if I had waited another week or so, I would have a Hero 3 instead. Other than that, it's a good little camera. Low light gain isn't very good and the microphone is still awful but the video quality and light averaging during daytime outdoor conditions is great. I am still not thrilled about the two button interface. It's cute but the camera has grown in sophistication and so should the interface. Also, it would be nice if you could hardwire power to the camera without having to drill holes in the case.

I 've had the same camera for 1 year. I used it all the time until yesterday. While I was riding and the cam was mounted on the tank, the camera just fell down. The suction cup did NOT fell down. It was still on the tank. But the screws that hold the whole mount was gone with the camera. So, I believe the screws became loose and just caused the camera to fall down. I emailed the company, they say it's not under warranty. I know I can't ask for a refund or replacement. It's nonsense. But, I googled it and this happened to other people too. I love the camera. I even used it in scuba diving. I will get a new one again. But, I am dissappointed that this happened.

I was all set to purchase the GOPRO Hero 3 when I saw the reviews indicating some issues with the software. While I like to have the latest, I didn't want to waste my time trying to update the software, contact customer service etc. I looked at other cameras and in the end went back to this model and read the reviews extensively. I took a chance and made the purchase.
I first used this on my motorcycle. With a little setup, I was able to get high def video. Next, I'll use it while scuba diving and hope for as good a result. The software for IPAD is not very good but Mac and PC can read the files without any additional software. Highly recommend so far. The only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.

I have used this camera very little since I got it less than a year ago. I have only had it make 4 successful videos where it did not turn off on its own after a short time. When it fails the only thing you can do is pull the battery. When you put the battery back in it will sometimes turn on, sometimes you have to let it sit for a while. At first I thought it was the battery charge, but it fails even after giving it a full charge. I have tried Kingston, Sandisk, and Patriot class 10 cards with no change in results. Formatting does not help either. It failed with the v70 firmware it came with. The v124 firmware seems to have made it worse. I think mine is junk. It sometimes locks up after recording for 3 minutes, other times it will record for an hour or so. The last time I tried charging it, it locked up while charging. A Google search on "gopro lock up" or "gopro freezing" does not instill much confidence. Go pro has some serious quality issues! I have sent gopro support an email. I am not happy with this $300 camera and will not recommend one to others. The quality should be better with all the extreme use advertising they do. I have wanted to add the wifi backpack to mine, but a camera that might fail after 3 minutes of recording is a worthless camera no matter how many accessories it has!

This past year I had a hard time thinking what to get my boyfriend for Christmas. We are very blessed and have a lot but still wanted to get each other one really cool gift. I had previously bought him a really nice camera two years ago because he loves photography so even though he mentioned this item I figured it would be out. Whelp as it got closer to Christmas I was still out of ideas and decided to research the GoPro. The price was right, reviews seemed great & I knew he wanted it. He was thrilled! We take it everywhere hiking, traveling, sports events & can't wait to take it to music festivals! The pictures are unbelievable! A must buy! Only thing is there is no screen on the back so you can't see what your shooting. I was disappointed at first but it's really fun when we get home after a long day of hiking and plug it in to see what we got! Apparently there is a screen you can buy for around $80. Enjoy! ;)

I got this for my son and I to use on our adventures to share with friends and family.
I chose this unit because we can put our go pros in an enclosure to record 3D and watch on our big screen 3D tv. I'm disappointed that this option is not available for the newer units.

Enough good things cant be said about this cam. What really makes go pro stand out is the various mount attatchments the company has made availible. Ive also noticed that the price on these units are comming down. Amazon sells the cheapest ones Ive seen. I actually found a good deal on ebay.
You see alot of different prices from the same seller, even the gopro site sells three differnt editions. Go to best buy and they have about 10 different edtions all with varying prices. Understand what it is your paying for before purchase. Basically everyone gets the same hero2 cam with waterproof housing, cable and battery. The difference in price depends on which attatchments come with the unit. So you have to be aware of the attatchments that you want or think you need. if you buy the wrong gopro edition, you will end up attatchments you probably wont use and end up spending more money to buy the attatchments that work for you.
For instance I found a great deal on ebay for the surf edition, I dont surf or do much watersports. I wanted something I can use on the mountain bike trails. The seller sweetened the deal by including the chest mount which is exactly what I needed. Currently the chest mount is not included in any editions of the gopro lineup, you have to buy this serperate. I did have to purchase a serperate helmet mount that enables the camera to be swiveled to different positions so when im riding the camera is not pointing down. I also purchased the LCD backpack. Thats the best part of the camera you buy what you need now and add attatchments along the way.

It's my second day using the HERO2 as a dashboard camera in my car and now it won't power on while on battery power. It also won't charge. I replaced the battery but there was no change. It still works while connected to external power though. I'm going to mail it in for a replacement. If I get a new one without hassle, then I will consider raising my rating of this product.

The one button push to start video or pics is a great feature. I use my GoPro as a dash cam for workdays and kayaking on the weekends. Hasn't let me down yet.

The GoPro is waterproof, but its design is intended to film above water - so in the surf on a board, skis, what have you. The lens system is NOT configured to use underwater. Above water its great - the focal point is set up for the light to come in from the air, hit the curved plastic lens in the case and go to the sensor. Under water, the light hits the curved lens too, but since it is transitioning from water to plastic rather than air to plastic, and those two medium are different, the light bends differently as it enters the case... and the underwater recording isn't focused as a result.
If you intend to film underwater, you MUST get a different case or lens solution for the GoPro or GoPro2.
GoPro now offers a diving case that addresses this problem: search for "Go Pro Diving" ( www.amazon.com/GoPro-AFLTH-001-Dive-Housing) - there is even a red filter to help color correct under water.
I recommend you read this excellent review of the issues related to underwater photography and the GoPro2 itself: at an external scuba diving website: [...] (search for gopro hero2 underwater). It isn't reflective of the newly available GoPro diving case, but give great general info.
Make sure you get an upgraded or underwater ready case BEFORE you go on your great snorkeling/diving trip with the intent of filming under water.

Very upset camera dead after 14 months.....2 months past warranty. This camera has been in a protective camera case, never dropped and never exposed to any damaging weather. No one takes better care of their equipment than I do. It locks up and you can not use it. The only way to get it to come back on is remove the battery....totally toasted. With accessories I have in excess of $500.00 tied up in a brick. Would I buy another one....H*LL no!

This camera is amazing. The video and picture quality is amazing for such a small camera. I have mounted it on my car and boat. The video quality continues to amaze me. I also highly recommend the suction mount. I think this camera is a great value for the image quality. Everyone should buy one.

This package deal, which included the battery charger, spare battery, set of three mounts, and sandisk card was an excellent deal. I'm looking forward to using it for the first time this coming weekend. I have purchased two additional mounts, and a telescoping monopod to add to the collection.

bought it for my bf who used it right away while mountain biking. then we used it when we went ziplining. it was easily strapped on to the helmet. another girl there had one as well. we've mounted it on a small airplane as well using a suction mount. we've also mounted it to face our bird feeder to see what types of birds come when we're not home. recently bought the LED screen and it came with the various backing to fit it. great product and really easy to use.

I bought this camera to offer POV video to augment shots I get from a more expensive camera. The downside of the GoPro is the audio, which works only as background. But the whole point of the camera is that you can attach it to just about anything and get great HI DEF shots. Be sure to understand the settings, because some will not work in an editing environment without additional work.

It was a real let down for my son. The SD card was defective and I am awaiting confirmation of reimbursement! A real deception but the silver lining in this scenario is that the people with whom I am speaking at Amazon have been very helpful. Will let you know if all goes well...

First of all this product arrived faster than it said it would which always makes me happy.
But to the matter at hand the product, I knew before buying this product that there were 3 downfalls to it. The first being there is no LCD viewer attached to it, (you have to buy it seperatly). Second is the fact that all of the images have a curved barrel or (Fish eye) effect to the images, the reason is the wide angle lense wich is ment to be able to get more view when recording/ taking pictures. It is possible, however, to lessen this by changing the image size from 11MP to the 8MP narrow or regular setting. The third and last downfall that I personelly could find would be the fact that there is no zoom on it either so you have to get fairly close to get a close up picture.
Now that you know a little bit about the pictures and or downfalls if you want to call them we get to the fun part, the pictures that it take are awesome! and all of the aditional extras that they put it the box are a bonus! I love to scuba dive and surf, the only reason that I bought the Surf edition are the surf board mounts that it comes with. The Outdoor and Extreme editions come with helmet mounts and other for climbing/ skydiving/ and motorcross attachments, but the bonus for everybody is that every one of the editions come with a waterproof case (rated for 60 meters) solong as you ensure that you have the waterproof backing on it not the skeleton wich is not waterproof. All in all a very nice product for those extreme fellows out there

I was eyeing this product for some time. All of my friends have one and they love it. I was watching the prices go up and down ($20 up and down). After receiving a $500 amazon GC i decided that it was time to go pro. pun. I ordered this on a sunday (monday was a holiday), Shipped it 1 day prime. It was expected to be delivered that weds. I was surprised when they delivered it on the tuesday. 1 Day Earlier, WOW.
For the next week I wanted to strap the Go Pro to everything. The suction cup mount stuck to the side of my car :) and away I went..(later talking to friends that I should have tethered it just incase). Wow amazing quality with the image and was super easy to use. After talking with my buddies they told me to just stay in the 720p 60 frames per second mode. Which really makes movement more fluid. In the weeks past i have strapped it to my jet ski, sand rail (rail mount) and chest mount(dirt bike). Its even fun to put it on the ground and let it watch pets wonder around. I am currently trying to mount it to my puppy with the chest mount.. Lets see how this works out..
I also really like/use the time lapse feature for event set ups. Pretty cool

I used it for kayaking, and loved how things turned out. The headmount gives people a sample of exactly what you see. I look forward to wearing it during ALPHA WARRIOR next weekend to see how things look!
Only knock so far is the color of the pictures. They seem dark. I'm not ready to say it isn't good, because that day was overcast, but we'll see how the pictures look on brighter days.

i use the hero2 less than 10 hours and now it will not turn on at all .check other gopro users ,they have the same problem too .do not buy it .

First off, if you've never used a gopro camera, and you do anything where a first person perspective would be fun to watch, you are missing out. They are versatile, they can be mounted anywhere, and the quality in the Hero 2 is nothing shy of remarkable for it's size.
I had a HD Hero, and when I got the HD Hero2, the difference was amazing. It's much more clear, and you can even install cinestyle (from technicolor) if you are using your GoPro in more serious edits, or you just want a more realistic color profile. The photos look okay, but I don't use that feature very much.
I use the Hero2 for my daily bike commute. I also use it driving, and mountain biking. I've strapped it to my dog, mounted it on boom poles, filmed concerts, and so much more. I really can't speak highly enough of this product. Not to say that it doesn't have it's flaws... read on...

The two biggest drawbacks are the fact that it needs special casing to look good under water, and to record external audio.

Cons: On board audio is terrible-in order to use mic input special (non-waterproof)case must be purchased. Must have the underwater case to get good underwater footage. seems redundant.
All in all despite these flaws I still give it 5 stars. for under $300 you won't find a more versatile camera that has the same quality.

The quality of the video is great, easy to use and small enough to mount almost anywhere. The only issue is that you have to be careful when setting the mode, it tends to jump from video to picture if you're not careful.

Im very happy with my purchase the camara is great an came exacly like the seller said it would. Im so happy with my gopro that im thinking about getting another one and from the same seller too.

This is brilliant. A company decides to put out a cheap, terrible camera, with no view finder or LCD screen like it is 1990 and charge you $300. Next the software is so crappy that the firmware upgrade bricked my unit within 20 minutes of owning the device. Total waste of time and money. You can mount a cellphone in a waterproof case for way cheaper, and its something that you already use and own!! I don't understand the point of owning a device that does something inferior to something I already own. Pointless "look at me" technology. The camera on the HTC One blows this thing out of the water.

Ordered my GoPro Motorsports edition last week with the hope that I'd be using it on my GSXR600 to get low shots when I was riding. The deal breaker between the "outdoor" edition and the "motorsports" edition was this awesome suction cup mount that I read rave reviews for. I was skeptical about it holding up on my bike but was assured in many reviews, as well as GoPro's website, that said that it would hold up to 150 mph on my vehicle. So I gave the bike a wash, slapped the mount with the camera on the side (making sure that I pressed the "press" button to ensure that it had a decent seal and then locked it in place. On my way to work, it performed admirably around town. It was only when I got on the freeway about half way through my commute that I felt a pressure on my foot that I figured was the camera leaning back on the mount. I took a look down to find that the wind had ripped my camera off of the side of my motorcycle and it was probably on the freeway behind me somewhere. I had to get to work so, afterwards, I rode along the strip of freeway where I lost it, but to no avail. So I'm now camera-less after its very first outing. Bottom line: DON'T TRUST THIS MOUNT ON THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR VEHICLE!!!

I absolutely am loving this little camera. I have had one for a while now and I just bought Snake River Prototyping's Dive housing for it so I could change the filter that I put on the Camera. I have no been diving with several different filters on the camera for depth and I am loving the versatility of the GoPro both above and below the water. The pictures are crystal clear and the Battery life couldn't be better! The accessories available to purchase make this one of the best investments I have made in photography equipment, some photos even turn out better than my normal dive camera!!!!

got this for my 15 year old gradson because he was making some pretty good short films on his iphone - he has gone crazy and is doing wonderful things with this so easy to use and versatile camera!!!!!

I love my gopro. Whether it snorkeling, body boarding, jumping off of waterfalls.... This camera catches it all. I've gotten such amazing footage since I've gotten this thing. I live on Kauai... So a gopro is a must. Oh.... the timelapses I've gotten have been breathtaking. I added a battery bacpac, and a divelens... And I recommend getting antifog strips whether u use the dive lens or standard housing... You will need them if u plan on getting in the water. I recommend this to anyone.

I brought this camera for a friend of mine here in Brazil and he send me back cuz it wasn't working at all. I changed the battery and still won't work.

This camera worked fine in indoor testing, but the first time I took it outdoors (in fair weather, above freezing temperature) it froze up after about a minute of recording, even though it had a full charge and empty SD card. Later it would always freeze up within a few minutes whenever using it outside, or even indoors if the battery had less than a full 3 bars of charge. Whenever it freezes up, the only way to turn it off and reset it is to take the battery out, which is quite difficult because it's such a tight fit.
I contacted GoPro support about the issue, but after 4 days they still hadn't responded. So I emailed them again, but still no response. It's now been a whole week, without any response from GoPro support.
Don't buy a GoPro camera, it's cheaply made and you'll get no help from them when it breaks.

Greatly prefer the Hero 2 over the newer Hero 3,

I use it as a helmet cam. Great for seeing where I've been, when riding alone. (And people behave better once they see a red light blinking on my head.) Wish I had a few more, for more angles as I ride. HD footage smooth at fast speeds. (30fps was jerky on the bike, when using an old cam - which later died in a swimming pool - from Oregon Scientific. Always check the o-rings!) Easy enough to use, once familiar. One button to power, one to start recording, once you have your settings. It does generate some wind noise above 60 or so, but this is not unexpected... It still hears the rest of the world. (Have even used it to record my friend playing music.) Get the extension battery and a big memory card, for the long rides,

Works great. I've worn it for a 4 mile obstacle run crawling thru mudpits, also did a 5k based on military obsticles and crawled thru mud and barbed wire ran through mud creeks and it rainjng pretty hard along with being cold and windy. I've also worn it riding 4 wheelers thru the woods. All in all definately happy. Would have liked to see the chest mount with it too but its great as is.

Affordable, durable, light-weight... I showed my dad the camera and he didn't believe camcorders have come this far (his first camcorder was a huge Sony HandyCam from the 90s).
I received the product before the northeast blizzard that currently occurred and documented everything with incredible quality; hd pictures, 1080p vids, etc. I got my brother excited and now he regrets spending money on his DSLR (not knocking DSLRs, because I have a Canon myself). But since I purchased this, I use it more than I use my iPhone camera and Canon combined.
GoPro is an excellent company and created the iPhone of cameras. Go get one, then go out and start documenting your life in hd!
