The second time I used the camera, put it in skiing when I was skiing and protective case was opened and the camera fell into the lake, where he lost. I'm sure the case came faulty, because tightly closed, but opened while skiing. A few friends the same thing has happened. The seller BIG VALUE does not accept the claim.

i just came back from a long trip and unfortunately i was not able to use the Gopro i purchased due to being defective I'm completely dissatisfied with your product and the quality of your products. The camera reaches a very very high temperature after 2 minutes on, and makes impossible to film creating condensation in the water proof caging being in the ocean makes it impossible to constantly take it out of the caging cleaning the condensation and putting the camera back in every 2 minutes, other surfers had similar problems with Gopro and had switch to a cage less Contour brand... I will do the same, and please don't waist peoples time nor their important vacation moments

I bought this device as a gift for my husband ,he was always borrowinghis buddy's....he loves adventure mountain biking being his favorite. It is winter where we live right now so we've only used it like going to the ice caves and things like that but it is fun to be able to see your adventure when you return home!

Drive to work... Back home and on the weekends aren't the same anymore! Battery time is an issue.... Buy the car charger and the skeleton case for this... Mine is stet up on the front windshield upside down... The versatility of the camera is awesome. Once you know what the two buttons do... Set up a total breeze... Really... In this the year of 2012... You have to be a nut to be confused by two buttons and some pictures. Simple and effective just what you need in a camera that can take this type of abuse and deliver!

First, the good: it takes a pretty decent video. The controls are easy, I didn't need to read the manual
1. It gets HOT. I mean you'd think it gets hot enough to melt the plastic or catch on fire. I'm not kidding. This thing, when run for an hour gets extremely hot to the touch. I took the battery out and removed the battery cap, ran the camera on USB, and man, it gets so hot you can't keep your finger on it, it'll hurt. Not exaggerating. It is irresponsible for them to suggest that you can record hours worth of video in HD bc you can't unless you have cooling mechanisms added (hand rigged) and there's not a way to do this when using the case.
2. Impractical as a camera. You can't see a preview of your shot (no display, no lens to look thru) so how do you know what your'e shooting at? You don't know what your'e shooting at with the video either.
3. The sound pickup is TERRIBLE!! It is faint.
4. The picture is, as you know, fish-eye

I should note that the first model I received had some sort of defect and wouldn't record two videos consecutively without needing to be hard-reset, but the replacement I got from GoPro (after about a week, hence me docking 1 star from the product) works as advertised. The video quality is excellent, and at its wider settings vibration and motion are nicely dampened. The included mounts are very sturdy (thanks to 3M VHB), and the case seems to do a good job of protecting the camera from damage (though I haven't had the opportunity to test its water resistance).
My complaints? Menu system is a bit silly when you're used to more intuitive interfaces, but given how tiny camera is I suppose that can't be helped. The narrow-angle setting has a good amount of noise, especially in low-light settings. It would be nice if they made a hard-wired remote shutter accessory for the thing, but other than that it's a gem.

I have used this while skateboarding, wakeboarding, on my car, in my car, snowboarding, on my dog and much more! Lightweight and mounts allow you to put the camera almost anywhere you can imagine.

Today, I just tried to do the firmware update through their "GoPro CineForm Studio" tool and it failed miserably. Now, the camera can't be powered on and is stuck in a weird icon with the combination of "v 1.1", a little camera and "down" arrow. Really bad! and GoPro doesn't provide customer support phone number on their web site to call. All they have is to ask you to fill in a "support form". It's really frustrating!!!

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my 15 year old son. He is an avid saltwater fisherman. He also loves spear fishing and dirt-biking. He has filmed everything since he received his GoPro! He learned how to edit the videos and set them to music. He straps this to his head, the spear fishing gun, the dirt bike handle bars and his john boat. Just waiting to see how long it takes him to strap to the dog! ..

I got this for a gift for a family member. It took a whiile to figure out how to use. I was hoping it would be fairly simple to use. I was hoping that there would be an app for my smartphone that it could be connected it to so that it could be used to start, stop and preview the video on. I won't be getting another one until that comes out.

Maybe the prototypes were really great, but somehow the final product has become a shadow of what was advertised. I work with wide spectrum of photo and video gear, such as Aiptek point-and-shoot, Canon SLRs, Sony, Hasselblad, Leaf digital backs, and others. Aiptek (around 100$) produced way better quality on my action sports skiing video shots.
I used GoPro Hero2 recently. This does not seem to produce even 8 Megapixel shots at the appropriate settings (not mentioning 11 Megapixels)! Pixel noise is huge and color representation is poor. The color representation seems gray, flat, and dull... It is rather 20$ worth of production value, not a pro or semi-pro as advertised...
The results are not professional, as advertised. A 100$ camera I used previously for the last 4 years takes better pictures. Looks like if GoPro used different processors to shoot their beautiful commercials! Or did they do substantial corrections during editing of their broadcast videos we all fall in love with?
When the sensor on GoPro Hero2 gets warm (during battery charging), camera start to produce stripes and other artifacts, which don't go away if the camera is turned off and on again. This is the image on Flickr from my experience: [...] There are other images there too, showing my attempts to get the best out of this camera.
A lot of plastic parts that ship with the camera are merely discarded and never used again. Does it seem wasteful? The rigging does not allow to tilt the camera up, while on harness. Perhaps there are other rigging parts, which need to be purchased the moment camera arrives.

I did have a lot of trouble getting the product to work initially and even had to send it to California for repair. That being said, once I got it back I really enjoy it. The picture quality is good, and once it gets set up the 1-button record is nice. I like it, but if it broke I don't think I would buy another.

I don't think it is necessary to introduce the go pro2. It is a very good camera, providing high quality recording (up to 1080p). You can now go to the Go Pro 3 but only the black edition will give you better recording capabilities than the 2. Just keep in mind that you need a very powerful computer in order to do video editing in such high level of quality.

And to keep from stealing his I bought my own.
The picture on this camera is amazing, but that is not what really makes it. The best part about this product is its incredible mounting system. I have yet to find a place it can't be attached.
The coolest part is when they named it "GoPro" they meant it. It is what I see is every Mythbusters episode.

Great product and very compact. A little annoying to access menu and options with only the two function buttons but if you only use a set mode you can avoid having to go through menu. If you over cycle past the mode you want you have to tap button to cycle through again because there isn't a back up ability.

Bought this GoPro to motorcycle around. Added the chest strap as well, which, to me, provides most comfort, safety, and also ergonomics since you do know when the camera is on this way. I wouldn't trust suction cups or adhesive solutions on a fast motorcycle, just me. I am very pleased with video quality. I am planning to add some battery time to this, since I wasn't able to capture everything I wanted on my last trip, not because of the memory (32GB were enough, counting 1GB per 10 minutes) but because of battery time. Might have run some 2++ hours which was a bit short to my taste. Overall will buy again!

I won't bother commenting about features or how good the camera is - it does what is says on the GoPro website, but the only problem is:
... when updating firmware to current latest version as advised: Firmware 8.12.124
The camera then freezes randomly when you power it up and record video. The only way to get out of it is to take out the battery. Not great if you are underwater for example.
I have tried two different units already and the same problem happens. Don't believe it? Then do a Google search on this topic or see video of it happening: (search for "hero 2 freezes" on youTube)
I would have given it 5 Stars but unless GoPro acknowledge there is a problem with this new firmware or a faulty batch of cameras out there 2 stars is actually being generous. Support have been contacted but will not admit to the fault so far!

The camera is very compact, but both the still photos and video are of very low quality. Even an 8 MB still photograph has a poor resolution. Images are fish-eyed, even out of water without the waterproof case, but even that would be acceptable if they weren't also very blurry.

I bought this for an upcoming ski trip after Christmas. My husband had been wanting one, but didn't want to pay for one!
He had a good time trying it out. A little awkward figuring out how to get it onto our computer, but we figured it out eventually. Definitely need the accessories and some time to read the "how to" guide!

The high frame rate setting is great and allows for awesome slow-mo shots and the wide angle is great for scenic shots as well as action shots. I can't wait to see what else I can do with this little guy!

We bought this camera for our son who lives in Hawaii as a Christmas gift. He loves to surf, so this seemed to be the perfect gift. He has already used it a few times and says that it is light-weight and takes great videos of his surfing skills. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a waterproof camera to use during surfing and or water sports.

I purchased the GoPro Motorsports with much thought and love it! Took it to Disneyland and had an amazing time filming my experience! It came safely and with everything it said it had and nothing was wrong except for a slight mark on the lens. The mark does not affect the filming quality, though! An amazing camera by an amazing company! Disneyland wasn't it's only adventures. It also (with the suction cup) was attached to my skis and my car for a drive. Great gift for film/sport fanatics!

COMPANY IS GREAT! RECEIVED ITEM QUICKLY. However, I was disappointed with the way I recieved it, bubble wrapped, no case, no charger, no instructions...

What a perfect purchase!! this camera is perfect for recording sports and it behaves wonderful in most of weather conditions. I got the Motosports edition but unfortunately it did not include an accessory to mount the camera in the handle bar.
The only problem I have is that just after a few months I bought it they release the new hero3... thanks for the heads up..

I bought the HD Hero2 for my boyfriend and a few months later you guys came out with the HD3. WTF?! Anyways, it works great. The quality and the slow mo feature is just awesome. I will say that I didn't like how bulky it is and I'm surprise they don't have a thinner camera yet. Buyers beware, the accessories that you will ultimately need to purchase is extremely expensive. Otherwise, it's a great camera for outdoor sports.

Great clarity; I like the 127 ratio better than the 170. Have been playing with different settings & finding what I like best. I haven't figured out how to mount the adhesive in winter conditions yet (want to mount on vehicle, but our temeratures have been below zero so the adhesive won't stick).

I had previously bought the first gen. GoPro Hero. At first it was hard to remember what settings are what until I got the LCD screen attachment for it.
This however, GoPro Hero2, I feel I don't need to buy another LCD screen attachment for it. The little digital screen on the front of the camera makes it so easy to figure out how to set up the type of shot you want. I'm glad I bought this one.

With the new firmware update, my GoPro has been losing or not even recording entire video clips and mysteriously running out of battery. Then comes yesterday... I was riding in the carpool lane when a car decides to change lanes over double lines right in front of me. I thought I wouldn't have to worry because I had it on and recording. Turns out that it stopped recording halfway through, and my hopes of concrete evidence vanished.

Good Camera for taking action photo's and video's. Only bumber is I had mine for about ten month and lost it in the surf. I'm sure if I would buy another cause they cost to much!!!!!

The suction cup mount is what you are paying extra for but you can buy it separately anyhow. I also recommend the dive housing if you ever want to use the camera under water.

This camera was a great gift for my son-in-law who loves to hit the backcountry on his snowboard and post his best runs on youtube.

used it for over a year and loved it. if you are taking it under water, you need to get the flatport housing, and magic filter. i also recommend the lcd screen, and the wasabi battery packs.

Have been looking to get this camera for a long time but couldn't justify purchasing a digitial camera/video recording device for $300 that doesn't have a LCD display... But now that the Hero3 is out (and $400+ for camera & mounts I wanted) the Hero2 lost a $100 of it's purchase price!
The Hero2 is everything it's adversitised as and more! Much more "Professional" than I'm used to but and easy learning curve!

I got the gopro on time. I was very excited about it and right out of the box it was packaged like an apple product. I really liked the packaging and the camera is great. It works perfectly except that it sometimes freezes but they will probably fix that with a firmware. I tested the camera out, I put it on the roof of the car and the video quality definitely is HD. The 120 fps is awesome except for it only being available on WVGA. The underwater is kind of blurry but I already knew about that. But I would recommend this camera to anyone who does some kind of sporting activity. I use the camera basically everyday
