When I decided to upgrade my Linksys WRT54GS router I originally chose Medialink Wireless N router because of all the high ratings on Amazon. Unfortunately that router had poor wireless range and did not work properly with Apple TV. I then stumbled upon TP-Link router, which is a company that I have not heard of before. After reading the specs and the reviews I decided to buy it. Wow, it is a great router.* Wireless range is excellent as it has 3 antennas.* Wireless speed is great.* Attached USB storage works great.* user interface is simple to understand and has a lot of options.* It supports DD-WRT firmware if you want to add advanced features.I have not problems with this router and it just works.

Although description says 300 Mbps, you WILL NIT get these speeds. to even get those this thing would have to be a dual band router. MAX I get is 130 ( and the router is no less than 20 feet from where i usually am). i have a 2 story home and it works ok outside, little bit farther range than my old dlink router.PROS:-gigabit ports-increased wifi speeds although not the 300mbps as advertised.-price-easy setupCONS:-not the 300mmps (not dual band) as advertised-had to hard reset the device a couple of times after i updated the firmwareoverall this is an okay product. I'd recommend you explore other options before you buy this, then if this suites the features you are looking for and is in price range go for it.

I bought this router on the strength of the amazon reviews and because it was cheap. Mistake. The router would randomly disconnect every few days, requiring a restart. After about a year, the router broke down!

I wish that I knew more about setting up routers. Well I have had three and this was the hardest one to set up. I tried calling tech support, and they were very patient, but after an hour and a half I had to quit because nothing he suggested would work. I never got on, and I never used the item except to attempt set up. I sent it back within three days.

I ordered this as a replacement for my 10year old -10 port netgear router that was giving me issues every day. Install took me less then 10 minutes and I was up and running. Also went from a G router to N and WOW. I get such a great signal all over my house, router is in the mechanical room in the basement and I get a full bar on the 2nd floor of my 2 story home. Nice product for less then $50.00 bucks.

I was looking for a high-end dual-band router like the D-Link DIR-825. But after seeing the great reviews and low price for the TP-LINK I decided to take the risk with an unknown brand. At half the price and better reviews it seemed too good to be true.Setup could not have been easier-- I disconnected my old D-Link "G" router and plugged in the TP-Link. Without installing the SW or following the setup instructions I could see and connect to TP-Link and had wireless internet service on my Windows 7 based notebook. If you don't care about security your done (although I recommend updating the firmware). To setup security you can use one of two easy methods. Connect to the router by typing the routers IP address in your internet web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) and follow the guick setup instruction or by using the provided mini-DVD. Either method is simple; just follow the setup instructions and in a few minutes you'll have security. I selected WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, input my password and reconnected with my notebook using the password and the secure network was up and running. I have an older notebook with Vista and it occasionally has a minor problem in connecting to the internet (it connects to the TP-Link without problem but does not make the Internet connection). By going to the "Network snd Sharing Center" it connects or I can disconnecting and reconnecting to the router. Once connected it is stable. I plan to update the Vista computer to Win 7 so I'm not concerned with finding the root cause. Win 7 only shows the max speed, 300Mbbs, but ping tests show I have a very fast connection from anywhere in my home.I recently connected a wireless-N Ethernet bridge (Netgear WNCE2001) to get internet access to the TV/media center. One push of the button on the Netgear bridge and on the TP-Link and I was connected in seconds with full security. It could not have been easier. I've been up and running for about a month with out a hitch. I've also experience several power outages with full recovery; no resetting required.

I bought this N router to replace/upgrade my aging, cheap but reliable G router which I got for $10 on sale 6 years ago (still working without any issue so far). This new N router does look nice with hi-quality plastic case and 3 antennas. But, the setup disk did not work for me......I spent hours trying to follow the simple steps but alway got a "fail to verify router settings" message at the end!As I was ready to send it back after hours of frustration, I thought I would give it a last try by using the web browser setup method.....guess I should have done that at the first place....no "fail" message and the setup was sucessful!Now the router is up and running, I do notice improvement for my laptop speed....although not even any where close to 300mbps, nor even 150 mbps but, still faster than my previous G router's 54mbps....I wish I know how to get my laptop (wifi-N) to 150~300 mbps though. As for the desktop PC, not sure it's just my imagination or not, the download speed seems a bit faster too (Verizon DSL). In any case, Since I only needed a faster basic router, I am happy with it now and just hope it will last as long as my previous G router.I also wish this router comes with a stand for vertical positioning because I prefer to position the router upright (vertically) for better cooling due to most routers having the vents on the sides (instead of on the top). Since hot air goes up....it is better to cool the unit having the cooling vents facing top! I think this will make the router last longer....I did that to my previous ones too.

At first, using the default firmware, this router keeps disconnecting (no internet and wifi connection), after switching to DD-WRT firmware, still the same, I guess its the hardware, either lemon unit or its the reason why it's cheap.

Pros- easy, fast, solid as a rock reliable- best in class for sureThis thing just set itself up. I was shocked at how plug and play it was.I'm using it to the fullest with the firmware it came with- several computers and printers, Xboxes and HTPC and NAS all streaming between and from the internet. Using all four gigabit ethernet ports and a mix of G and N wireless.We get speeds fluctuating between 170-300 mbps on the N clients- averaging around 245mbps using WPA2-PSK security. Our wireless clients are 12-20' away through a ceiling and 2nd floor walls, or 15-20' away outside in the yard through the external house wall, and up to 24' away on the same floor. No issues with any of them.I am getting full throughput on my ISP maximums of 5mbps-up/30-mbps down on the internet consistantly through this.I've owned this model for a year now and it just never quits. Never needs rebooting. Just goes and goes. It's fantastic! I'll never buy another brand router again and am sold on TP-Link (if they maintain this workmanship).Cons- Would like a dual band version of this router. Would like the option to set up a guest wireless account/SSID. I'm digging here, but would always like a little more info and slightly different organization in the setup webpage, but that's minor.Never needed support, so can't comment on that. Don't use the USB so can't comment on that either.

This router provides an excellent price with excellent features. I was previously using a Cisco router that would need to be reset every few days, very frustrating. Also the speed wasn't as high as it could be partly due to signal strength and quality of the router. Overall buy this router it's excellent for the price!

Toilet Paper! That's what it's worth. Don't buy it. I bought mine after reading multiple positive reviews from major PC magazines, as well as the positive ones here on Amazon. Don't let the small price fool you. It was challenging to set up and frustrating to use during our 4 week relationship. It often went off-line in the middle of web surfing and needed to be reset everytime. It crashed (went off-line) everytime I tried to use it. I returned it today. I upgraded to the Linksys e-2500 and love it! Spent a little more but it will pay off in the long run. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have used this Router for a month now, no need to reboot yet, it is very fast, wifi downloading 15-20mb no problem, have about 10- 12 devices connected at all times, 2 Bluray players, 3 laptops, Kindle, 2 Ipods, Ooma phone system, 2 DVR's and an iPhone, I don't get yelled at anymore when I download huge file while my wife is in the middle of watching her movies LOL. no lagging even we watch streaming video at the same time. we use to not be able to watch at the same time on 2 devices.

This router replaced an aging Linksys G router that crashed constantly due to low memory. The TP-link comes with 32MB of ram so it's more than enough even for heavy use. USB sharing works great with TP-link's firmware. I'm getting 5 bars everywhere in my 3000 sq ft home so the signal is really strong. Even though it's 2.4ghz band only, I have no problem connecting at 300 mbps.Do not use this router with DD-WRT. Atheros based N routers are just not stable with current DD-WRT firmware. I had lots of errors and getting 300mbps throughput was way too time consuming(must manually set channel each time). Even though you are suppose to be able to get print server out of DD-WRT(stock firmware doesn't support it), I had no luck getting my Brother HL-2140 to work.Current setup: TP link @ 2.4ghz for N, Linksys G router as AP @2.4ghz for BG connected to the TP-link.Great router and highly recommended for people needing quality N router at a low price.UPDATE 12-17-12Bought another one for use at the office. This second one would constantly cause IP address conflicts and completely lock up once a week. Talked to TP-Link support and they insisted that I update the firmware (which has no change log addressing stability issue). Update firmware, still the same problem. So I called back again and they agreed to RMA. The new unit is behaving much better, no IP address conflict so far.Setting:QSS disabled20 mhz onlybgn mixed mode130 max tx rateDD-WRT and OpenWRT are still not stable enough for this router, I'd recommended sticking with stock.In the end, I have two good routers that are good enough for my needs. All the hype about N600 N900 N9999 are just overrated once you have any interference.

I have to decommission my old Buffalo router with DD-WRT and was looking for an option with giga byte port and TP_LINK is full filling my demand so far. Easy to DD-WRT and wireless speed and range is awesome.

Not impressed thus far. Have had to reboot the router twice so far due to degraded performance. The reboot resolved the slowness every time. Hopefully they get the problem figured out. I'm running the latest version of the firmware available.Update 9/16/12: Going to buy a new router soon. The software updates have not fixed this. Unfortunately I've just gotten used to how much it slows down over time. It just slowly slows down until you wonder why your connection is mind nummingly slow.Absolutely would not recommend this company. That will teach me to try a new unknown cheap company.

I am not a techie, yet I set this up in minutes with no issues. I paged around the menus just to see what was there. The next day I found out that my cordless phone interferred with the signal. I remembered seeing a menu about wireless channels. When I went to the trouble shooting guide, sure enough, it sent me to that menu. There I switched the settings and presto, all better. For the money this is an astonishingly simple and effective device. Range is good, I had no problems at all. I can't speak to the tech support, I never needed it.About a year later, it started dropping connections. This started slowly at first but I reset it 4 times today alone. I am very disappointed. I loved this one. It seemed like such a deal. But looking at reviews, I see others have had similar experiences. I suspect that most reviews are written within the first month so the owners are happy. I was. But I am headed back to the name brands to replace this. Maybe the product improved with newer production, but I can't say for sure so I can't recommend it any longer. It was a 5 when it worked fine and a 1-2 now that I can't trust it.

Well dial up may be faster!I tried this on a wired connection - DSL/Win xp.Took hours to get it to find the connection at all, then when it finally did, I was rewarded with speed that made me long for dial up days!I would stay away if I were you, but I notice a lot of reviewers love this thing, maybe they had slow speed to begin with, beats me!I'm sending it back.

The TP-Link TL-WR1043ND Wireless N Gigabit Router was a pleasant surprise. I'd never used this brand before, but I found it very easy to setup, and the performance was excellent. It actually matched the signal strength of a Wireless Access point we had added earlier to improve performance in the wing of our house most distant from the router location. We essentially no longer needed the Wireless Access Point in the house, so I ran a cable to the wood shop in the back yard and moved the access point to the wood shop.The delivery as usual was prompt, and the package arrived in perfect condition. Thanks again Amazon!

I have used routers for 15 years. First wired and then wireless. The technology in this area seems to improve every 5 years or so. I bought this router after reading glowing online reviews and I am not disappointed. The price/performance ratio is exceptionally high. Other brands in this price range can't touch the speed/range of this router. If you want additional range, it even has 3 detachable atennas that you can replace with higher gain ones. As for the ease of use, the setup is straight forward and very simple. I was up and running in 3 minutes with this router. Also, for those who want to use this as a NAS file server, download the latest firmware and plug in a USB hard drive and you have one. A typical NAS server will run you at least 100. The only down side may be the appearance of the router. If you are into form rather than function, this one is definitely not as sleek as others. Personally, I could care less.

Purchased August 31st. Installed upon delivery. Slow somewhat sporadic connection rate this past month (50/50 as far as maintaining once connected). Spontaneously stopped relaying internet signal on December 1st. Reset, tried every alternative configuration, tested the cable modem, changed the wires, called and screamed at the cable company - no go. Bought a new router and we are now connected. One star because it still turns on and has pretty lights.

This will be relatively short. My dream was to have a router that could be quickly and easily set up and would give me its advertised results. This router TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N Gigabit Router took me 12 minutes to set up--no tech jargon involved. My ISP promises 12 mbps; the TP-Link has given me a consistent 12.4 and over and has done so for the last six months. That's all I care about. I'm a simple guy with simple needs.I've had several other routers, and wanted to go to wireless N from G. One that failed quickly, an ASUS router that kept losing speed every day, had the nastiest router service techs. I was hung up upon, and thereafter promised a return call from a supervisor which never happened. They are just plain nasty! This is in high contrast to their notebook people who are wonderful! But enough about ASUS routers and personnel).I couldn't be more satisfied with this TP-Link router.Bought from Amazon, I got a great deal, a router that fulfills its promise, and the last six months totally free of any router concerns. I can't comment on their router techs because, thank you Lord, I've never needed them! Hooray!

I wanted to upgrade from and old Linksys WRT54g to something more modern. This product seemed like a great value with all of its features. It was pretty easy to set up and worked great until I attached the USB Drive (an Hitachi 1TB Simple Drive NTFS). At first it seemed to work great. I was able to access the drive from all of my computers (running Win 7) after properly mapping them.Then after about 2 days, the router suddenly locked up and had to be rebooted by pulling the power. After the 3rd lockup, I noticed it was happening when we tried to move large files such as photos or watch videos. In the 15days that I had this router hooked up, it locked up at least once on 5 days. Each time was traced back to accessing the USB drive. I didn't try any of the third party software such as TomatoUSB. Maybe that would have solved the problem. Instead, I packed it up and sent it back to Amazon before the 30day return policy expired. Amazon was great in the return dept by the way. This was my first return and it went flawlessly. Hopefully, I won't have to return anything again;but if I do, I know it won't be a problem.It is too bad that I had to return this. Other that the USB lockups, it seemed to be a great product. Now, I am just going to get a dedicated router and add a separate NAS.
