This item is just as described. It works right out of the box - almost. The disk was not formatted,and so I had to wait about half hour for the formatting to complete before I could actually use the disk.

I bought this to upgrade my original, 20G "fat" PS3 system, and it worked like a charm. Plenty of space for tons of installed games (disc and direct-download), installation was a breeze, loading times are no worse than the original drive.

My laptop hdd was giving me the Click-of-Death. I opted for this one because of the solid reviews. So I put this one in and my laptop is a little speedier thanks to the 7200 rpm. Right now, I'm triple-booting Linux Mint, Win7, and Win8. No issues. A worthwhile investment.

Seagate Momentus 5400 500GB 5400RPM SATA 3Gb/s. Drive runs very slow and gets very hot when running. Tried adding more memory, didn't help. There seems to be no fix for these problems, very disappointed.

What is there to say! Other then it's a hard drive at 7200rpm over all my 5400rpm and no noticeable difference for transfer rate. I have the latest laptop with two 2.5" drive bays. I used the new 7200rpm and never seen a differences in speed over my 5400rpm. I am running an i7 3rd generation Intel chip with 8GB ram and a Solid State boot drive. Great laptop and I thought I would add this new drive for even more speed... Now the new drive is my backup internal…

The price of this hard drive is great however it's advertised as a 500 GB hard drive, it isn't. It's a 450 GB hard drive. I the hard drive not to have 50 GB used out of the box. Once the OS was loaded onto the drive it was very fact and the price is great.

I used this to replace my 500gb laptop drive that was filling up. It's fast and was easy to put in.One issue to consider. Faster drives take more battery power and this one is no different. Normal drives spin at 5400 rpm but to get more speed they have to spin at 7200 rpm which takes more energy.To me the trade off is well worth the increased battery drain.

I ordered this to breath some life back into a Late 2008 Macbook Pro, and it works very well! I am quite surprised at the performance boost I've received just adding this drive. I'd definitely recommend if you need to add a little extra HP to an older laptop you just don't want to part with yet. For the price versus a full SSD, this is well worth the money!

We bought this to replace the hard drive on our laptop when our data grew a little to big for the old one. It has been working great for several months in our old MacBook. I'll update if we have any problems, but I don't expect any.

I haven't had any simple user noticeable problems with it but I haven't had any HDD read errors or corrupted files from dropping my laptop so far and that is a plus for a cheap compact hard drive like this one.

I put this drive in my Macbook Pro using a drive caddy and it does exactly what I'd like it to. I can now carry all my media around with me, and because it's a low power 5400 RPM drive I don't have to worry about it killing my battery. Definitely a good buy for me.

I purchased this drive to replace the drive in my daughter's Toshiba laptop that crashed because it was dropped from the couch to the floor. The reason I went with this drive was that it has a detection system in the drive that will park the heads if it determines a fall. However, due to cost, I decided not to test this feature and I also hope my daughter doesn't drop it again to test that feature either. However, if it does drop again, I will update this review to let you know the results.

I read many other reviews about 750 GB harddrive crashing early in its lifetime but still went ahead and bought this product. I trusted Seagate more than reviews here. I had to pay for my mistake though! My HDD stopped working in no less than a month. I am sending it back to seagate for replacement, pure waste of time ( and maybe money if seagate does not give me a good working replacement. )

I have been using only Western Digital drives since the mid 1990's. In that time I have owned over 30 of them, and (knock on wood) not a single one has failed. I still have on old PC to run legacy applications that is running 2 WD PATA drives built in 1994, still going strong. During that same amount of time, I have had 3 Seagate drives that came from the factory in lower end computers, and 2 of them failed within a few months. This particular drive came in a dell laptop I recently purchased, and lasted about 2 1/2 months. Seagate is trash, there just isn't another way to say it. The WD drive I replaced it with runs cooler, quieter, and is much faster, and I feel confident it will last MUCH longer. Stay away from Seagate- you can get WD just as cheap.

Obtained this to replace a 120GB 5400RPM hard drive in a notebook which was causing the notebook (HP Pavilion DV6000 Series Notebook) to freeze when moved... Kinda freaky.In any case, I got the drive along with a Vantec NexStar TX 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure enclosure.Both arrived the next day. Took the new drive and installed it into the enclosure and then used the Acronis backup software's Media CD to use the clone option to move the data from the old drive in the notebook to the new one. Took about 30 mins. Notebook has Win7 Pro on it.Then removed both drives and swapped them. Note that the HP Notebook uses a special carrier for the drive, but had no problem carefully removing the old drive and inserting the new drive. Fit without any issues.Restarted the notebook which booted without any issues (faster), loaded the SATA drivers for the disk and then rebooted to finish the update.Notebook has not froze once since the move so that is a good indication that the hard drive was the problem I was having as it was easy to duplicate before.Drive is basically silent, no real noticible vibration. Runs a bit hotter than before but the location of the drive is open enough to cool it. Much faster than the previous which was only a 5400RPM drive.Will update as time goes by. But for now an inexpensive fix for a real problem and now have more space to boot.

I bought an HP Touchscreen Laptop/Tablet on eBay to find the 320GB drive was defective. I replaced it with this drive (< 5 minutes) and it performs quite well. Windows 7 boots quickly. Battery life appears a bit improved as well.

I recently replaced two defective hard drives with these and I am very pleased with the speed and functionality. I do not know the long term value but thus far I am impressed.
