I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of upgrading their PS3I had a 60gb HD in my original ps3, and had to start deleting stuff in order to install/play new games. This solved all my problems, and was so easy to swap out.

I always buy Seagate for the reliability and was not disappointed by this one. Most of your cheaper laptops come with lower quality drives and fail quickly. This is a good one to get when you hear the old one start making strange noises.

The drive itself is pretty good. Only complaint is that it is advertised as 320gigs but after installing my computer only recognizes 290gigs. As a clean drive without anything installed, where did 30gigs go?

OEM or barebone drives are those that ship with absolutely no extra parts. No manual. No mounting screws. No cables. Nothing. Just a deeply discounted drive tucked inside a vacuum-packed electro-static discharge bag. The idea with OEM drives is to save some extra cash by not getting all the extras. On average, the savings can range from $20 to $60 per drive.This drive shows up as pictured...and with nothing else. You open the ESD bag, install the drive, and go.Mine installed in minutes into a Thinkpad w700. Drive performance is mid-range. It isn't an SSD but it runs at 7200rpm and has 16MB cache. I purchased two.

We were easily able to install this replacement hard drive after the one in my late 2009 Macbook Pro failed suddenly. We did the installation ourselves with information online to guide us, step by step, and the folks at the Apple Store volunteered to reload the Lion operating system. The new drive has more space than the original, and we have been able to restore most of our lost data from back-ups.

My wife laptop is experiencing some problems which I narrowed to disc failure, bad sectors occurring and so fort. So I suddenly need to replace the disc. The first and best place is Amazon. I ordered on Saturday to be delivered on Tuesday with Prime.Item arrived, well packaged, I am opening it and just before putting to new laptop I noticed that it is incorrect model.I ordered 7200RPM and received 5400RMP model ST9500325AS instead of 423AS, what a bummer.Amazon is not able to replace it as item is under "review" for 7 days ! I can only get full return and now start searching for item again.If I knew I will loose 2 days I will go to best buy and bought this disc already.That second failure (after not working kettle) and I am really disappointed with Amazon supplier.

Purchased this solely to upgraded my PS3 hard drive from the 80gb it came with to 500gb with this Seagate Momentus. As with all hard drives (internal/external), you'll never get the FULL amount of space as sold, so I actually got approx 450 some odd GB's, as opposed to the full 500. Just be aware that this is true for all hard drives.Installation was a breeze to swap out the drives and now I have much more space to save games, demo's & DLC. Make sure to get this drive (the 5400rpm) and NOT the 7200, as there have been some reports of compatibility issues with the PS and/or the drive over-heating. This 5400rpm one works perfectly. I only trust Seagate and Western Digital for hard drives, and once again, Seagate hasn't disappointed me.

I recently purchased a PS3 Slim at a local GameStop and sprang for the 160GB. I didn't want to spend the money another hundred dollars for 250GB or go higher. Not thinking too deeply, I should've bought the lowest capacity model because I instantly craved space... and lots of it. The PS3 Slim uses a 5400RPM drive because of heat issues. While a 720RPM would provide faster loading times and an undoubtedly snappier system, I didn't want to risk melting my investment. I refuse to use WD drives after all the problems I've experienced in the past, so I went with Seagate, a company which has never pissed me off with never let me down. I found this meaty 500GB drive on Amazon for a good price and ordered it without hesitation. The drive arrived to my house three days later and I eagerly backed up my game saves and began to remove the Toshiba 160GB drive from my PS3 (I had no idea that Sony used Toshiba drives in their consoles - that pissed me off). I dropped the new drive in place and plugged the PS3 back in. It formatted the drive for me and by the time I had re-downloaded all of my games, add-ons, maps, and my game saves, I still had a hefty 379GB of space left. Much more than the highest available OEM drive of a PS3. Gran Turismo 5 alone had the option to install game data to the hard drive to cut loading times and make the menus much more snappy. The game is massively extensive and gorgeous on the Sony Grand Wega in my living room.All in all, I got exactly what I expected: Another high quality device from Seagate that'll probably outlive the PS3 unit anyway. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend Seagate to anyone, for any purpose. My particular need was PS3 storage. Maybe you want to increase laptop storage or use it as an external drive. Whatever the application, this is (in my opinion) the best company for hard drives.

Fast, quiet, a little warm. I upgraded from a 5400 rpm drive. Battery life is not hindered at all. Overall, I'm happy with it. For the price and performance increase, it is well worth the upgrade. I recommend you watch the 10-minute youtube video showing how to upgrade the macbook pro--you need 2 special tools. In the macbook pro, the cable is taped down to the old drive, so be very, very careful removing it not to break your cable.

I have purchased a bunch of these and actually use it as an offline backup solution. I replace the existing hard drive with this one, and then keep the old hard drive around as a physical backup. I've done this three times now, and this drive works great every time.

I too bought this to upgrade my old PS3 40GB hard drive as it was approaching capacity. The upgrade was seemless as the hard drive slid right in and wrote the system update and back-up file (both saved on usb flash drives) quickly. I don't do much in the way of video, music, or movie downloads on my PS3 so I foresee this new drive lasting me quite a while.

I've had this in my computer for about a month to wonderful results. I believe my computer is a 2006 MacBook pro. It took quite a bit of care deconstructing my computer and replacing the hard drive because the hard drive is located underneath the keyboard. Besides this being a total pain in the butt if you've never done it before which I had not, this works totally great. My now my old school computer is running like a champ. It saved me an absolute ton of money and has completely done what I needed it to do. I would recommend anyone try this.

Just a quick confirmation of what others have said. The physical installation into my old FAT PS3 took less than 5 minutes. I had already performed the software backup. After the restore, I was back up and running in no time. So far the drive performs well and is silent when running.

Overall the HDD works fine and I got the space I needed from all of the new games from PS Plus. My only problem is now for whatever reason my trophy's earned in the past are re unlocking.I don't know why this is happening and I have done multiple things to try and fix it and still I cant find a fix. IF anyone knows how to solve this issue it would be great.What is happening is the trophy's re unlock but the date and time is showing the old one when I really achieved them so I am not quite sure why its happening but it would be nice to solve this issue.

as i have read, product does not sleep in macbook pro when i tell it to sleep. this is incorrect. my hdd sleeps in both mac and windows operating systems on my macbook pro 13". also does not seem any faster than a standard hdd but if they say its faster then it probably is.
