Many good things have been written about this product and I agree with most. I would like to comment on the things I didn't see a lot of before I purchased.1. Talk time: I'm on the phone 3000 to 5000 minutes per month as a Director of Business Development. About 6 hours per day talk time is all you get. Not good, not bad, pretty much on par with the other 3 BT Headsets I've owned. I will say that it seems this unit charges more quickly than the other I've owned.2. I wear Glasses: It fits Ok with them. The only problem comes when you remove your glasses with the Headset on; the Headset is prone to fly off. I can tell you that the unit is durable after several such flights.3. Comfort: I'm a "big guy," 285 lbs. Comfort didn't come quickly for me. I still need to change ears a couple of times a day. However, after around 30 days it is much better and I expect one day I'll not even know it is there.4. Sound: Good most of the time. Better than the others I've owned. Loud. If you drive the highway this one works well. Background noise is reduced but not eliminated; and unlike another background reducing Headset I own (from Plantronics also) there is no delay on call pick-up... nice!5. Props to Plantronics. By pressing the volume + key as you turn the unit on, the blinking blue light gets turned off (and on), this is important to me because people look like Cyborgs walking around blue blinking in public (not professional at all).6. On/Off: I thought it would be a problem after the things I read. I have big fingers. Not a problem; maybe they enhance it some from older models. That's it; mostly all good except comfort which seems to be coming around.

I recieved this product earlier in the month. It was the replacement to my Plantronics 655, which was a replacement to my Motorola H500 headset. The Plantronics 925 blows the others away. It fits in the ear perfectly without the annoying ear hook, and you can do a lot of moving around without worrying about it falling out at all. It has superior sound and distance than my previous headsets, and the microphone picks up my voice perfectly. I know that the price tag is a little steep for a headset, but this one is worth it. It's like the Mercedes AMG of bluetooth headsets!

The inadequate Amazon product description gives no indication whatsoever as to whether or not this product comes with a power charger. I can inform you that it DOES come with a power charger that plugs into a AC wall outlet. It does not come with a car adapter or a car power charger. Strangely, Amazon "recommends" that the product be purchased with an $8.95 #510 Headset Charger. Either Amazon doesn't realize that a charger comes in the box, or they're just trying to sell you more stuff.

I use this headset with a Blackberry 7100. Overall it is a good headset. Although not louder than other headsets, having earpieces that partially insert in the ear canal makes the volume more effective. The mic picks up your voice well while screening background noise pretty effectively. However, the mic is very sensitive to wind noise...we're talking slight breeze here. The foam cover helps a little bit, but not enough. This makes it difficult to use outside. I typically have to duck into the nearest building when I'm trying to talk on the sidewalk. The fit is good, although it is a two handed task getting it on correctly. Glasses interfere with the fit due to the over-the-ear design, so it takes a little work to get the two to cooperate...usually moving the temple arm of your glasses up out of the way, seating the headset and then putting the temple arm back on your ear in a not-so-comfortable position. It has a descent set of controls, but unfortunately they're not always user friendly. As other reviewers point out, the connect/disconnect button is at the center of the ear piece at the base of the mic arm. Having it up against something solid makes it easy to push with one finger...no fumbling with the mic arm trying to squeeze a button. Down side is if the headset doesn't fit snugly in your ear, you have a tendancy to push it in and sometimes hit the disconnect button. The solution is to use an ear piece that fits snug or grab the mic arm to push in on it.On big weakness of this headset design is the multi-function power switch. As one other reviewer pointed out, you really have to remove the headset to use it. This isn't a big deal when turning the headset on or off due to its auto-standy feature (which is nice), but this switch also controls the volume and mute. Attempting to use these features when wearing the headset is usually unsuccessful because the switch is so small it's hard to find and there's little or no tactile feedback. If you do manage to find and manipulate it, the headset usually becomes dislodged from your ear and you have to refit it. I've just resorted to using the volume and mute control on my phone. The auto-standby feature automatically puts the headset in standby mode to preserve the battery when not in use for ? minutes. When a call comes in, it activates by sounding a tone to alert you to the call which you can answer by pushing the connect button. This feature is not unique to this headset.Last negative is I sometimes get clicking noises in the headset. I don't know if this is the phone or the headset, but it can be very irritating especially if you need the volume up loud to overcome background noise. However, I have experienced the same thing, but worse, with other BT headsets, e.g. Motorola.Having pointed out all the negatives, I've tried both the Motorola 850 and 500 and this Plantronics peforms better for less money.

My first BT headset was a Motorola HS850. Worked well until the recharge plug snagged on the socket and parts of the socket came out with the power plug. So I replaced it with the Plantronics 510. I wanted an earpiece that inserted into my ear as oppose to laying on top of my ear like the old World War 2 headsets of 50 years ago. I sometimes am in noisy environments and the "lay on the ear" type is not designed to isolate loud distracting noises. The HS850 was difficult for me to hook over my ear and took both hands at times. Not so with the Plantronics, at least for me. It goes on my ear much easier and the earplug type earpiece shuts out more of the noisy world attempting to interrupt my communications. The earplug type earpiece also provides vastly improved volume. I had to crank up the MOT to full and still had trouble hearing it at times. Remember, I'm not in an office cube with carpeting and noise absorbing fabric cubicle walls, but in my truck on the highway or on the plant floor. The clarity of the sound is excellent. The volume level is more than adequate for me with several levels left to crank up the volumn if I need to.The headset is bulkier than my self destructed HS850. The recharge plug pushes in with a friction fit as opposed to Motorola's press to unlatch type power plug (actually its the same charger that fits many Mot phones) that ripped the guts out of my HS850.I usually fold the Plantronics 510 into a flat configuration before droping it in my shirt pocket when Im not wearing it. Folded, its slightly bigger than my previous MOT, but its advantage of putting it on my ear with one hand and the isolating abilities of its earpiece outweigh the small size advantage of the HS850. And the friction fit recharge plug will never rip the guts out of this BT earpiece.I found the on-off button very easy to use, unlike the comments of many others. I can very easily find the pointy button when the 510 is on my ear. Press for 3-4 seconds and it beeps to tell me its on. 2-3 seconds later a series of tones announces that it has connected with my Motorola i870. A blue led flashes every 4 or 5 seconds when the unit is on and connected. Press and hold the pointy power button until the led glows red and it 510 turns off.Its been a great BT headset for me.

I bought this for around $70 here on amazon after reading the reviews on cnet, etc. It was their highest-rated bluetooth headset. It works, but it could be much much better.First, I think technology still has a long way to go with regards to bluetooth/wireless headsets. Sound quality on this thing, while loud enough, made everyone sound like they were talking through several layers of tshirts. Everyone I've spoken to on this says they can tell I'm "on something" but that I sound "fine." Fine isn't good enough for me.Let's talk design: It absolutely excels in the "Cool" department - it looks slick and isn't some chubby ear thing. But, with that cool looking factor comes a lose and ill-fitting earpiece. Yes, it comes with 3 replacable earpieces, but none fit me quite right. I would like to offer this suggestion to all who own/consider owning this: When you are trying to insert this into your ear, take your hand opposite the side of the ear you are putting this in, grab the top of your earlobe and pull up while twisting this thing into your ear canal. I got it to fit OK but walking around with it - it feels like it's going to fall out any second. The buttons: Yes they are small but we are all aware that as technology shrinks, so are the buttons. Yes, they are difficult to use, but I'm used to it and you should be too. Main problem: Is that you really have to press down for the buttons to click, and this thing is already ready to fall out of your ear, so trying to slam on a button isn't helping. Why someone doesn't put a nice little trackwheel for volume on one of these things is beyond me.You can walk around with this but you'll want to keep your phone nearby - I walked into the next room not more than 10 feet from the phone and it got static, etc. Pretty weak if you ask me.It works OK. It paired up with my Motorolla KRZR just fine and works no problem. I wonder if the Motorolla headsets work better with Motorola phones. The main reason I got it is for when I drive because I don't like being on my cell while driving and everyone seems to want to call me when I'm driving. For that purpose it is acceptable. I guess my expectations are too high for this technology... again.

This new headset stayed in my ear, did not turn it's self off, did not turn my cell phone bluetooth off. Other headsets could not handle background noise, but this one works flawlessly in light wind or car noise with a/c running. The multiple charging options are great also. Well worth the extra price. Try all ear pieces, and both ears. I made the mistake of thinking I new which size was needed and caused myself problems. Using it with BlackBerry Pearl. My last headset was the Voyager 510 and it was not nearly as good.

I needed a new bluetooth after accidentally leaving my HS850 in my shirt pocket just before the wash cycle began. The device I had before that, was the Cardo Scala 500. I'd bought that one from Amazon and wound up returning it due to low volume. The HS850 suffered the same symptom. I found myself constantly pressing the headset to my ear while I was listening and turning up the volume which caused a distracting echo for the person I was talking to.So, one of the features I was looking for was a device in which the microphone was not too close to the earpiece. The Discovery 655 seemed to fit the bill. I also read some good reviews on it. I was pleased when I first tried it on and found that it went right into my ear for a perfect fit. This is important for two reasons: 1) I wear glasses so, it's nice not to have to deal with a loop, 2) I think having the earpiece so close to my inner ear precludes me from having to turn up the volume. In fact, I haven't touched the volume at all. This is the first bluetooth device that I've been happy with right out of the box. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great, comfortable, good-sounding bluetooth.

Quite impressed with other plantronics bluetooth devices. Own a 510 and it works seamlessly with my macbook, blackberry and the bluetooth base i bought it with. The 645, is a nice looking device, but either i have a defective unit, or the design is flawed. the headset slides into a sleeve, that has the the connections in the base to charge the headset, but doesn't seem to hold the headset in the sleeve well enough to keep the charge going. My unit won't charge unless i physically hold it pressed into the base unit. It doesn't appear to be missing anything, and it charges when i hold the two pieces together, so i call this a bad mechanical design and would recommend not buying this product, but the 510 or anything else instead.

I like to read customer reviews online when considering purchases, but I rarely write any. In this case I feel that the record needs to be set straight because several of the reviews on this product are grossly inaccurate and may cause people not to buy a very good product. My brother has one of these and he highly recommended it. He has had ZERO problems using it. I decided to buy one but wanted to check it out first so I read the reviews and was puzzled. I know how particular he is about gadgets. I decided the safe move was to buy this item at a brick & mortar store even though it would cost much more, based on the fact that some of the reviews indicated problems with the portable charging cradle and fit of the earpiece. I figured it would be easier to return locally if indeed that was the case. I can tell you from my experience that it is not. The earpiece fits securely into the charger and does not need to be scotch-taped or constantly held in place in any way. For the life of me I can't figure out how people are having that problem. I can only guess that they either didn't push it into the charger all the way or they have other issues. It takes no effort and it fits into the charger very well. The sound is very clear, and the ear gels seal your ear so the volume is actually very high and I had to turn mine down. I have asked people who I was talking to if they could tell I was on a headset, and they did not know. It is very lightweight and fits snug in your ear and is very comfortable. One big bonus that needs to be mentioned if that it fits so snugly that it doesn't need the ear loop, so if you wear glasses or sunglasses, this headset does not interfere with them like most of the other ones. It worked so well that I felt I had to do two things: write this review, and then buy another one from Amazon at a greatly reduced price, then take the other one back to the brick & mortar store & save myself the difference. If the reviews had been accurate I would have bought it from Amazon in the first place and saved a lot of trouble.

This headset is good but not without problems. Much not apparent immediately. Here is the list of plusses:1) the DSP apparently enhances what I hear against background noise. I can hear better with this than any other (wired or wireless).2) it is comfortable. I can forget I'm wearing it. It's really light weight. I use the ear hook.3) it can charge from many sources. I use the adapter for my motorola phone and share the chatger. A big plus for me.4) it lasts a long time on a charge. Never had it run out.5) range - I know others experiences are different, but I get good results at 15 feet from my phone when in my home. I was surprised. The minuses:1) The ear gel post gets worn and can fall off in certain positions. I hate searching for it on the floor of my car!2) the oft mentioned delay - it's a minor thing I've gotten used to. It is most noticable with voice dial and answering.3) sometimes things can interfere with the signal. I'm not sure what it is but certain areas where I drive there is a lot of distortion. When I leave those areas it usually clears up. If not I disconnect and reconnect to my phone and all is well again.4) the earbud is not well shaped to keep it in my ear. Jabra used to do a great job with ear gels that fit and stayed comfortably. This fits, is comfortable but does not stay without the ear wire. This isn't all I'd wish for but it's the best I could find at the time. Overall I'm 80% to 90% happy with it. I'd say it'a a good value.

This is the worst bluetooth earpiece I've ever owned. It doesn't stay in your ear unless you use the loop, and the loop is poorly designed. It is anchored to the headset by the ear-piece, with a very loose fitting snapping mechanism. So every time you take this off and put it in your pocket or case, the ear piece and loop fall off. I am already looking for a replacement.

Had the Motorolas's before. Broke after only a few months useage. Didn't like the way the speaker just floats on top of your ear letting in all the external noise which forces you to turn up the volume louder than you should. This Plantronics unit fits very comfortably in your ear, sealing out external noise and allowing you to understand the conversation at a much lower and safer volume. Very clear speaker and noise canceling microphone are major pluses. Folds flat for easy storage in your pocket. Fits behind your ear a little which I think looks better than a big hunk of plastic floating on the side of your head.Only draw back is yet another freakin proprietary charger to carry. These companies really need to stop this. Use the small usb type connector that so many devices use now. Then we only need one 120v volt charger and one usb cable to charge off any computer and your done. One star deduction for the charger frustration but otherwise an excellent headset.

I bought this headset for my wife, to go with an LG Chocolate phone. I originally bought this specific model because my wife wears glasses, and I was concerned that the around the ear hook on other models would be too cumbersome. As it turns out, this comes with a very thin wrap around ear hook that my wife actually preferred, and she absolutley loves it. Setup was a breeze, there are 3 different ear piece sizes, 4 different charger setups (for various types of chargers), and the case holds them all nicely. Lastly, the sound quality has been great, and I would definitely recommend this.

The only thing that I wish was better was the pickup time. I am sure it is for battery saving but I often click to answer a call and the caller is saying Hello, Hello... before I have connection to hear.

First off, I can't seem to find the perfect Bluetooth headset. I've been on a search for the perfect one, and so far I'm on headset #7. But anyway, I bought this one because I have multiple phones, a razor and a blackberry from work. Because of this, I thought the multipoint tech was a nice feature to have. Let me tell you, it is. All you have to do is push the top button and the talk button and you seemlessly move from one device to the other. The sound quality is also good with this headset, both inbound and outbound. I have a loud car (350z convertible) so wind noise is still something that it doesn't hold up to, but this one performs well compared to most. However, the most disappointing thing is that even when the battery is full, the headset disconnects from the phone all the time. I can talk sometimes for hours and no problem. Other times, I talk for about 5 minutes and it drops. If it wasn't for this problem, I would give it 5 stars, but this is very annoying. One last thing, and this applies for all headsets...it sure would be nice to standardize all plugs, and I think motorola and blackberries are pretty much all mini-usb plugs. If they were all the same, sure would make having a car charger so much easier.

The Plantronics Voyager 510 is a good bluetooth headset for its current price. However, depending on how you plan to use it, it could either become a great headset or a nightmare. The first thing you notice out of the box is that it's quite large, both in the size of the battery pack that hangs over your ear and especially the depth of the microphone. Put another way, it sticks out quite a bit from your cheek rather than laying flat against your face. This not only can cause some sound quality issues, but also makes it very conspicuous. So, if you prefer to keep a low profile while working hands-free, this may not be the best one for you. The size of the piece that hangs over your ear also makes wearing glasses or even a hat an issue. All that said, the unit is very comfortable provided you don't have anything else hooked over your ear. It's also easily configured for either ear.Sound quality can be very good, but only in quiet environments. Even small amounts of wind noise will render the microphone useless. I've been surprised to have people complain to me that voicemails that I've left have been all broken up, even when I was in what I thought was a quiet place.I've also found that reception will be spotty unless the phone is placed closer than normal to the headset. For instance, in order to maintain good signal, I typically have to have my phone in my shirt pocket. But on the plus side, the unit is very easy to set up, with a variety of phones and PDAs immediately connecting to it with no effort. This headset would be ideal for someone who is looking to use it exclusively in an indoor office while working hands-free. You'd get optimal sound and would be able to connect to all of your devices quickly and easily. You wouldn't even feel self-conscious about the unit's size. But for those on the go, its reception and microphone quality are too poor to recommend.PROS* Excellent battery life means very little downtime for charging* Simple to set up - instantly compatible with numerous devicesCONS* Sound quality from the microphone, especially in places with even minimal background noise* Big, bulky design makes fit difficult, especially with glasses or a hat

I'm relatively new to Bluetooth headsets, but in the last week I have used both the Plantronics 510 and the Motorola H700.What I like:- PAIRINGIt was a snap to pair up by following the manual.- RANGERange is pretty good - I have been able to walk around the house or office with minimal problems of static and have had no disconnects. It does beep when you get out of the range.- AUDIO QUALITYVoice quality is pretty good. No complaints from callers about quality either.- VOLUMEVolume is loud enough, and easily changed with the buttons on the headset. Sometimes the volume was too loud and had to be turned down._ FITTINGIt fits very well on my ear, and is very stable while moving around. It is also very light, you hardly know its there. With the 3 included ear bud connectors I was able to find one that fits the best inside the ear. Although, after its worn for a few hours it does start to get bothersome (inside ear), but I find that happens with all headphones that are earbud style.- POWERThe unit lasted for days on a full charge. The LED changes color when charged. NO complaints.- SPECIAL FEATURESIts able to transfer the call back to the phone while in call, and back to the headset. Also holding the side key will dial with voice recognition if your phone has that feature. What I didnt like:- BUTTONSDifficult to use the POWER/MUTE key. When I first got it, it took a long time to get it tor turn on and off. It can be alittle tricky. If you are looking to use the MUTE key forget it. Muting is better off done with the phone being used.- FUNCTIONALITY WITH PHONEI wish there was more functionality in interacting with phone. For example, if you could use it with Call Waiting, Conferencing. This is something other headsets are capable of doing. There is one blinking BLUE led if its on, and thats it. It turns RED when the unit is turned off.- LIMITATIONSMy Nextel i870 plays MP3's but when the headset is connected it says "Incompatible Device", meaning the headset had to be disconnected or turned off every time you use the MP3 function. What a disspointment that you cant listen to tunes with it, but I guess it is only capable of playing 8khz audio and MP3 files are greater than that.Id give it 5 stars but the limitations and power key issues bring down the rating. Its still worth the money compared to the Motorola units.

I've been a fan of Bluetooth headsets since they've arrived. Not having to worry about a draw-pull or gear-shift yanking my headset out is reason enough to make the switch from corded.I have owned Jabra, Motorola, and until now only corded Plantronics. The Plantronics Discovery 655 is the first Bluetooth headset that meets all the criteria I've added over the years for a great headset: - Has to be lightweight and "vanish" on/in your ear... You shouldn't know it's there until a call comes in. =The 655 sits perfectly on my ear with just the gel earpiece. For those wanting/needing the extra assurance that it won't literally vanish, an ear-loop is included. - Must have just the required buttons. Volume, and on/off, are the only requisites for a headset. Anything else is a frill I'd rather not pay for or have to worry about. =The 655 keeps it simple. - My transmitted voice must sound like a corded land-line on the other end. =My callers are suprised I'm on a wireless headset. - Reception must be crystal. =It definitely is. - Must use standard USB charging. =The 655 gives you an option of proprietary outlet charging, battery, or USB charging. This is not "too many charging parts" as someone mentioned... rather Plantronics offers a multitude of charging options. Only one is required at a time -- your choice. - It must hold a charge. =The 655 doesn't quite last as long as my Jabra, perhaps due to the DSP functionality (which uses power), however, there is a power-save mode to extend uptime if necessary, as well as an included emergency battery option for a quick charge, if no other options are available (such as no laptop or no outlet). - Price must be right. =If the 655 was more than $70, I would have paid it. Bottom line, it's well worth the price, and then some. I am continually looking for newer/better technology to simplify my life. The 655 does that... (until I find something better).

It is rare to me to be able to buy a product with such a large number of reviews and such a high rating. We decided to go for this one based on that information and haven't been disappointed. The reception is crystal clear. Even with surrounding noise, the headset recognizes the voice tags for voice activated dialing. People on the end can hear me clearly and usually are unaware I am on a headset. Syncing the phone to the headset the first time took all of 5 minutes (including reading the instructions). Now, I just activate the phone bluetooth, turn on the headset and I'm already in business. I easily switched the headset over to my left ear. My wife uses hers on the right. It sits firmly and comfortable on my ear and I can talk for an hour and not even realize the headset is on.My only complaint is that the battery life is not terribly long, but that seems to be a limitation of the entire blue tooth headset industry, not just this product. I plan accordlingly and its not usually an issue. As for the buttons, they have not been a problem with me. It took a couple of days of using it to really memorize what buttons did what, but I don't have any problem using any of the buttons, including the power button. I fold the headset up and carry it in my pocket without difficulty or damage. It also does not look big or feel big to me.In short, this device was every bit as good as advertised and after six weeks of use, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for one.11/06/06 update: I am a frequent Skype user and my wired headset broke the other day. I was searching for a new one (I wanted to go wireless) when I finally realized that my computer was bluetooth. Perhaps it would work to use my bluetooth headset with Skype? I paired my Plantronics headset with my computer, shut down Skype, started it back up and was talking on Skype with my headset!! Now I am able to walk around the house talking on my computer just like I can with my cell phone. And the lack of wires has made talking during gaming so much easier. I'm a big time believer in this headset.

This headset is definitely good looking and great sounding, however it has several fatal flaws. First is the awful design of the charger. The headset does not click into the charger, it just sits there so you have no idea if the headset light is off because it is fully charged or because the headset is not connected to the charger. Plantronics gives you adaptors for chargers of most popular cell phone brands, but that does not solve the design problem. My second issue is the poor fit of the headset. It is supposed to be held on by a gel earpiece. None of the earpieces fit me well. At one point, while wearing it in the car, the headset flew out of my ear and landed somewhere in the back seat. There is a loop you can add to secure the headset, however the loop makes the headset much less comfortable to wear. This means you have to periodically take the headset off to give your ear a break. This brings up the third flaw. The way that you switch the headset from one ear to the other is to turn the gel earpiece 90 degrees. The problem is that the way to remove the earpiece is to move it to the center position (45 degrees). I often had the earpiece pop out as I took the headset out to put it on or as I took it out of my pocket. My last issue with this headset is that there is no way to carry it with you. Some headsets come with a loop to hang it around your neck, others are comfortable enough to wear all the time. This one is neither. You could try to carry the headset in its charger but that is not a good idea either. Even though the charger has a clip to put in on your pocket like a pen, the headset does not sit securely on the charger, it can easily fall out as you lean over. Besides the charger is bulky, as thick as a magic marker and not convenient or comfortable to wear. The sound and the looks of this headset are excellent, but unfortunately they don't overcome the fatal flaws of the design.

I bought this exact model of Bluetooth headset a couple of years ago, and it was excellent. When it died on me, I ordered another one, but to my great disappointment, Plantronics changed the design of the microphone. The result is that your voice is muffled to the point where people have trouble understanding what you're saying, especially if you're driving a car, since the noise reduction has suffered as well. Plantronics effectively broke this device when they changed the design.I can no longer recommend this headset.UPDATE:Since writing the above, I have come into possession of another, identical headset, which actually works well. After examining other reviews, it seems that the problem is rather a number of 'lemons' floating around in the supply chain, which are not extracted from the batch offered to consumers in a timely manner. Be aware of this, and be prepared to return your purchase as defective if you are not satisfied with its performance.

I've been using Plantronics Voyager 510 for the last 2 months and I couldn't be happier. When I was about to give up on the whole Not-Yet-Ready-For-The-Prime-Time-Bluetooth-Concept here comes along that little gem.Everything I hated in each and every other model just done right here. Granted, it looks weird when you look at it for the first time, in Seinfeldish kinda This Is A Complete Opposite Of Every Bluetooth Headset You Has Ever Had. How in the name will that thick ear loop fit right? But if you think about it placing heavier part of the device BEHIND your ear will ensure that it will stay put no matter what you do all day long. This is a truly comfortable construction and the first one for me that I can wear for as long as I want without fearing for my big and floppy ears to fall off.My second biggest gripe for other models is the static. Gosh it was driving me nuts to talk and listen and ask again and again thru all of the crackling and whooshing. Plantronics Voyager 510 has ZERO static, end of story. Even outside with the wind and street noise you can hear perfectly well the other party and what you tell them.Another big frustration I've came across with other headsets is when it disconnects from your phone by itself when on standby. It just doesn't happen with Voyager 510. It stays connected for all day long securely waiting for that important phone call when your hands are full with something else. And then there is a battery life. I charge it once a week just because I get tired of waiting for that tiny red light to start blinking. Granted, I don't talk THAT much, but still it's a huge advantage over the competition.Of course it has its oddities. Placement of buttons a little unorthodox to say the least. They all are very stiff especially Power button. But that's about it. This little guy is as close to my perfect Bluetooth headset as it can be. Way to go Plantronics!Pros:* Loud and clear both ways, no static!* Good fit* No disconnections with the phone on standby* Good range, pairs easily with the phone or Bluetooth dongle for PC* Used with Skype gives you cordless phone quality and convenience to move around* Excellent battery lifeCons:* Buttons are stiff, Power button most of them all* No easy way to switch on the fly from one paired device to the other

Features are short of the next best thing to oxygen. Truly hands free and do not have to be close to the phone. Unlike most earpieces, Plantronic 645 do not have to be in the ear to know there's a call. Can't wait to see what the future to this model brings...if any.

I bought mine from Amazon cuz this was just about the lowest price I could find. Before I actually bought it I did some serious testing and reading about other headsets. I've tried Jabra 250, Jabra 500, Motorola HS850 and they all had one major problem - quite static-y. Actually the HS850 was a little better in this area than the Jabra headsets. I've had Jabra 250 for almost two years - static-y big time. If I put the phone in my left pant pocket and the headset on the right ear theres' noise all the time - this is not acceptable for me. The HS850, unlike the Jabra, has poor design. Any time I turn my head sharply this thing is flabbing on my ear as if it's going to fly out at any moment. This is why I wanted something better, not the same.I went on Amazon and read reviews on all kinds of headsets and my attention stopped on the Plantronics Voyager 510 from some company I'd never heard of. The the reviews were good. Even though my BestBuy store didn't carry it I decided to make the investment, buy it online and test it in the hopes to keep it.I received my headset, hooked it up to my phone - that was easy, no problem here. Then as soon as I started using it I noticed that there was no static, almost no static. I could keep my phone anywhere around me and there would be no static - a major advantage to the previous headsets. Then I noticed how easy it is to answer phone calls with it. the answer button is large enough, right against the ear, so I just had to press it against the ear using one finger. How cool is that?! The HS850 design was like that too but the Jabra 250 needed two fingers to answer one to support the headset and the other to press the answer button - I noticed with the new Jabra 500 that wasn't an issue anymore. The Plantronics is light, easy to put on, not flabby - wraps around your ear pretty good. There's only a few things I didn't like about it and I hope the manufacturer is listening now:1. Picks up surrounding noise. If I am out people can hardly hear what I'm saying - even if there's hardly any wind. It's so bad that I've given up on using it outside.2. The ear bud needs to be tinier. I loved the small jelly-type of earpiece that Jabra had - you could hardly feel it in your ear.3. The power button is too tiny and hard to push. Not that this is a big deal because I hardly ever need to shut down my headset but it would be nice to have one that's larger still one that's not easy to hit by accident.I didn't give this review five stars because the headset needs to do a better job at fending off surrounding noise.Other than that, I highly recommend this headset. I have yet to see a headset that's as good as this one!

I researched a bluetooth headset to replace my Motorola H500, which got pretty good reception, but had consistent problems keeping synced with my phone and if anything not within strict operating protocol happened, like a call dropping, the Motorola H500 would simply stop working. I would have to reinstall it on the phone to call the person back! In any case, I chose the Plantronics Discovery 655 because of its great review by CNET as well as the fact that it seemed to have this really cool technology, DSP, which should help with voice recognition.I synced this baby up to my LG the V and immediately had MUCH worse reception than the Motorola H500. I literally had loud static with the cell phone in my lap! I thought to myself, well, let me give it a week and see if I'm just not doing something right. Nope, this Bluetooth headset is performing worse than my old headset. The static persists at any distance from my cell phone, including having the cell phone in my hand as I walk around the house. Putting any distance from the phone increases the static exponentially. There are other minor annoyances, such as the fact that the buttons must be pushed very hard. I have to grip the whole headset before pressing a button to prevent it pushing painfully into my ear. Today, I was talking to a friend and the static was driving me crazy, so I'm returning this headset tomorrow. I gave it a good try, but I'm going back to my Motorola H500 for now which, while it has problems staying connected to my phone, at least has no static!

I've tried several different Bluetooth headsets from Motorola and Cardo, and ended up returning or giving away all of them. I kept the Plantronics 510 because it is simply the best I have ever tried. I hear no static, cracks or pops, the audio quality is tops both for me and the caller, and it's comfortable and doesn't flop around on my ear like other headsets do when I move. While the Plantronics may seem slightly larger than other headsets (mainly because it has a larger part that goes behind the ear), it is very comfortable to wear and use, and is very light. It slips into a pocket or bag just as easily as any other Bluetooth headset. The Plantronics 510 comes with 3 different sizes of earbuds to fit your ear perfectly and the speaker goes in (or very close to) your ear, unlike other headsets where the speaker just rests on the outside of your ear which is really not good for getting high volume in windy/noisy environments. Also the Plantronics has a boom mic that folds down partway towards your mouth. This is way better than headsets where the mic is way up by your ear because the closer the mic is to your mouth, the better you will sound and the less background noise the callers will hear. Everyone I've talked to using this Plantronics have raved at how good I sound, especially compared to the crappy Motorola's I've tried previously. The Voyager 510 has great battery life both while talking and on standby. The Bluetooth range is superb-I can very effectively walk all around my condo from room to room, talking on the phone, yet my cellphone remains on my computer desk-it really goes 30 feet, and through walls too. And the fact that this headset can even remember pairing with multiple devices is icing on the cake.I really recommend this headset. It's money well spent. Or go ahead and try others, but it would be my educated guess that you will end up with this one eventually, like I did.*There is a slightly misleading bit of text in the instruction manual with regards to charging that you should be aware of: It states that the LED will illuminate Red while charging and illuminate Blue when done charging. However it actually blinks red while charging and turns solid Blue when complete.

My main disappointment was the fit. Now, I realize that not every product is going to fit everyone and it may fit well for others. But for me, the headset would just not stay in my ear. The ear loop helped, but defeated the purpose of getting an in-ear headset. With respect to range and sound quality, I received just as much static and clarity as I do with my $25 Jabra set. Which is to say, not so great. People on the other end noted great clarity, which is nice I guess. But for me there was no major step up in quality from cheaper sets.Lastly, the placement of the USB charge port on the bottom of the charging cradle is an interesting design decision. It means that you can't set it upright. A dealbreaker? No. But something that I found annoying. Anyway, I will now continue my search for the ideal Bluetooth headset, as the 655 is not it.

I felt the Voyager 510 deserved an excellent rating as it is the fifth unit I have tried in the past 5 months and it is the only one that has passed the test. I purchased a couple of different Motorolla units, a Jabra unit and one other brand that I can't remember the name of! I returned them all within a couple of days.I doubt any unit is 'perfect' for all needs but this unit delivered for me. Setting aside asthetic value, this unit performs well in a very noisy work environment. I am a service technician in a mechanical/electrical field of work and am either in a noisy machine room or on the road driving to one. I use this unit with a Samsung PDA device. I also have to use a Jabra bluetooth adapter to make the headset work. Even with that extra piece of equipment, the Voyager works better than the actual phone by itself! I can hear conversations very clearly and people tell me that they can hear me very well. It is also a big plus that I can use the voice activated dialing features with this unit. Every other unit I tried failed this test completely. No other unit could ever pick out the name I was trying to dial. I can use it even in the car with a lot of road noise in the background. Why the noise cancellation and volume levels are better in this unit than others is a mystery to me, but they certainly are in my case! The unit is relatively comfortable and secure in my ear as well. The other units, especially the Motorolla units, always felt like they were going to fall off. This unit can be worn on either ear contrary to what one of the reviewers said. The instructions are a bit tricky, but it can be worn either way.It may not be the sleekest looking unit around but for me function was way more important than looks! Even so, it looks ok; not too weird! Not sure why some folks seem to have less success with particular units than others, but if you have tried others and feel that you won't ever find one that really works, I would give the Voyager 510 a try. It is even cheaper than most units out there!!

I'm on day 2 of using my headset and I've got to say, as much as the good reviews (especially on C-Net) pushed me in the direction of buying this, I just had to write this review to warn potential buyers of the reception vs distance issues I'm having. Maybe Plantronics just makes lemons, sometimes, and I was the unlucky recipient of a bad one, but I can not get more than 2 feet away from my Blackberry 8703e without a lot of static. When it's close, and there is no static, it works very well. However, the distance issue is enough to want a return and refund. After all I bought it to be wireless in the first place. Not that I need to be even 10 feet from the phone, but it's on my beltclip and still isn't close enough. I've tried both ears, holding the phone different ways, and it still has static unless, as I mentioned, it's less than 2 feet from the heatset. I'll give it a couple more days of using and recharging, hoping maybe the battery needs to be "conditioned" (??), but it doesn't look promising so far. Also, the buttons are easy to use, but you need to press the main button pretty hard for it to "click" and answer/hangup/etc. Actually not that much of a problem, in that it reseats the rubber ear-gel a little better each time which gives you a better feeling about it not falling right out.Love the "Star-Trek" design also. Extremely light weight and small.Just really dissapointed in the range. (NOTE: This is my first Bluetooth headset, but I expected better from paying this much money.)

This is my first bluetooth headset, so I was reluctant to give it 5 stars not having anything with which to compare it. But I looked at lots of reviews, here and elsewhere before deciding what to buy. The several issues that people have with the headsets are what I was looking to avoid.Well, this one, as far as I can tell handles all the usual issues well.I don't get an echo. The people on the other end can hear me. I can hear them, often better than with my Samsung phone itself. And I rarely have to turn the headset volume all the way up. The earpiece is comfortable and I have kept it on for an entire two-hour trip. And it comes with an ear loop that you can use if you want, or not. I usually don't, but it's good to know it's there if I feel I'm going to be more active while wearing the headset. I've not measured how far away from the phone I can get, but it's fine across the condo. And I've been using it for about a month and a half now without any of the trouble people report of headsets breaking quickly. And it seems to hold a charge for a long time. I turn it off when I know I'm not using it... and I mostly use it while driving, so it's not on all the time. But I've only had to charge it a couple of times since I began using it. Pairing was simple. So, I'd highly recommend it if someone's been having troubles with a different type of headset.

I had been looking for a blue tooth headset for several months. I wasn't in a rush to buy one. So just like others first I did some online research and then i saw what my friends were using. Honestly, the more I tried to know, the worst it got. You must be thinking what was wrong?1. I was not sure if anything I buy would be compatible with my phone (Sprint's Blade Samsung A-900).2. Second, every blue tooth head set has both good and bad reviews. Some people highly recommend it and some people just called it crap.3. I wanted something I would really love to use. Convenience and quality.4. My price range was about 50 bucks.5. Range, I wasn't looking for SUPER range but at least I wanted it to be good enough so that if I'm at my apartment I wont be carrying around my phone.I got this head set last week and so far I'm loving it !Its very comfortable, easy to put on. Range is excellent. I walk around in my apartment without any trouble. Battery life is good enough, it could last for 2 days without charging (avg use for me about an hour and a half everyday). Pairing it with my Samsung A-900 was seamless. My phone's battery isn't superb but I can keep my phone on charge and use my blue-tooth which is very convenient. Charger has a long wire which is good because my power outlet is far from the table. Before I purchased it I wanted to confirm from Plantronics customer service that this was indeed compatible with my phone. Their reply was that NONE OF THEIR HEADSETS is compatible with Samsung's A900. I did my own research and found out that it was one of the best headsets for A900.I've been using it with my cell phone and my laptop. It switches devices seamlessly. I've tried using my friends Motorola junk and trust me this is a hundred times better than what Motorola has to offer ! Price is very decent and it looks and feels awesome ! Go for it ! I highly recommend it.

The Bluetooth Plantronics Discovery 655 DSP Ultimate Bluetooth? Headset with DSP for all Bluetooth Enabled Phones [Retail Packaged]is a nice addition to my cell. I had tried several different wired headsets and all seemed to have some draw back, most notably sound quality and volume. The 655 is compact and works well once you get used to the buttons and how long to hold them down for certain functions. You will need to experiment with the ear pieces to get the right comfort. The battery life could be better. I would recommend strongle to purchase the cigarette lighter adapter if you are going to be in your car and on the go. It is inexpensive and really helps to keep the 655 in use during the day.I haven't tried any other style of Bluetooth except this one, so I can't make that comparison. I am definitely glad I got it and would buy it again.

I'm quite happy with this little number. It fits in the ear easily and once there you can forget about it. Sound Quality is good and most people don't have a problem hearing me. It pairs easily with the LG Chocolate and works well. However, VZ navigator will not play through the headset, and there is a lag with the voice command and when answering a call. I get the impression that whomever is calling has a couple seconds of "are they going to say hello?" It's the best unit I've used and its multiple charging options is very handy and allows you to have three places to charge your headset making it almost always ready to use. The main button is a little hard to press, and if I'm making lots of calls or answering lots of calls it feels as if I'm jamming something into my ear, I've gotten around this by griping the sides to add support and the more I use it, the more responsive it has become. The one thing that truly irritates me is the blue light indicator. It's way to bright. So much so, that more then once I've thought the cops were right behind me asking me to pull over. And when it's sitting by itself i have to position it in a way that the flashing light isn't facing me or reflecting off something otherwise it's very distracting. Overall, however, I'm very happy with it.

This is a good solid product.Although I have found the range to be a little limiting I believe this is due to the phone and not the headset. I connected it to my Samsung A920 in less than 3 minutes and have not regretted it at all.Pros:1) In ear speaker - Includes an optional earbud which sits in your ear so that even the hard of hearing can use this headset.2) On ear speaker - Earbud is not required so it can just sit on your ear instead of in it.3) Stability on ear - This will never fall off your ear - ever. It fits snugly around the entire back of your ear and does not move.4) Comfort - It is also comfortable, I have worn mine for over two hours and not had any issues.5) Battery Life - I don't know what the upper bounds of the battery life is, I have never reached it. I hold conference calls on this and have never gotten a low battery warning. However, I do charge it every night. FYI, the phone itself runs dead with BT enabled after 2-3 hours.6) Clarity - Most people cannot tell I am on a headset. There are no clarity concerns at all in a normal setting. This is in a car with the windows closed or outside in a moderate breeze.7) Talk button - Easy to find and use.Cons:1) volume buttons are in a bizarre place at the top of the ear. I still have a hard time finding them and end up pressing random spots on my ear to locate it. However, I have found that once I found my ideal volume I have had to adjust it very seldom.2) Mute/Power button - Its a bad design to make these the same button. It is also in front of the volume buttons in a recessed design so it is nearly impossible to locate.3) Alerts - the headset is constantly giving me audible signals to warn me of an imcoming call, a disconnected call, loss of signal and reconnection of signal. At times I felt like it was singing to me.As I mentioned I does lose signal every once in a while but only when the phone is in my pocket instead of out in the open. I do believe that is a design flaw of my phone. It loses connection with my PC often as well.Overall, highly recommend. The pros far outweigh the cons and though it has a few quirks I agree with the reviewers that it is one of the best on the market.

I bought this because of the physical design. I didn't want the clip going over the top of my ear, causing discomfort. I must say that this headset is comfortable. Unfortunately I don't have any more positive things to say.My biggest problem with this item is the signal strength. Even after a nice full charge, my phone shows a message of "weak bluetooth signal" after the first minute or so of talking, then it disconnects and I have to use the handset. This happens whether it's 3 feet away from to phone or 30. What is the point of a comfortable headset that doesn't work well?I contacted Plantronics support, and they sent a replacement. The replacement has the same problem as the original.By the way, if you need to use Plantronics support, don't bother with their web-based incident reporting system; use the 800# for their service center instead. Using the web, the response time is quick and the representatives are courteous, but next to useless. It's best to talk with someone who actually works in the service center.
