I purchased a lanyard to keep my plantronics around my neck so I can quickly fit it into my ear when a call comes through. I was disappointed when it arrived as the method that plantronics chose to secure the lanyard to the ear piece was a "plug-in" to the receptacle used to charge the earpiece. It has fallen off of the lanyard several times and I was lucky I did not lose the earpiece. The reason that I bought the lanyard was that I had lost a couple of blue tooth ear pieces due to the fact that you have to put them in your pocket (shirt, pants...wherever) and thought this would be a great solution. I have since found a lanyard that came with a thumb drive that has a sturdy nylon thread that I wrapped around the earpiece stem on the plantronics using a slip knot. This is a much more secure method and makes it virtually impossible for it to come off.

I don't know if the problem is the Pantech phone that I have or the earpiece. Quality and volume are lacking. It is adequate, but I have used better products from Plantronics.

Lot of cracking sounds even while sitting net to the computer. Does work well with skype. The people at the other end are aware of his crackling sound. That seems to be the only drawback that I see

If you have a Discovery 925, or 975, this is a great accessory. Unless you are one of those who wears the headset EVERYWHERE, you will like having it hanging on your neck and easy to grab to take a call(beats fumbling around in your pockets while the phone rings). Note that you do not have to disconnect from the lanyard to take a call.

Through Amazon's Vine program, I recently received a review unit of the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset. Never having used (or had to use) a hands-free headset, I was interested to see how easy it would be to interface to my iPhone. Overall, I'm impressed with the unit for ease of use as well as ease of interface. But I'm still not completely comfortable with the unit just sitting in my ear. I keep expecting it to fall out at any time. After a couple hours of charging via the USB power cord, I turned it on with a quick push of the earpiece. Then with my iPhone, I switched into Bluetooth discovery mode and instantly found the Plantronics device. I entered the password of 0000 to complete the pairing, and I was off and running. The iPhone automatically threw control over to the headset for incoming calls, and tapping the headpiece control button brought up the keypad for dialing. As a test of the sound quality, I dial the Jott message service and left myself a short message with a bit of background noise. Jott was able to properly use its speech recognition to decipher the message and send it to me via email. In terms of hearing, it was actually better than having the iPhone plastered against the side of my head. If I were going to be on a call for any length of time using my iPhone, I'd definitely want to be using the Plantronics headset. The only drawback is the way it fits in the ear. I'm used to seeing headsets that clip over the ear, so I was curious as to how snug this would feel with it just sitting there without external support. I had to switch from the medium size clear plastic gel tip to the large size, as medium definitely felt like it was falling out. Even with the large, it was hard to trust that it would stay there. If you had too much head motion, I'm not sure how the grip would hold. This is probably one of those things that just takes some getting used to. I'll have to see how it works out over time.Would this replace my iPhone earbuds at $150? Probably not. I'm not that tethered to my cell phone. But if you spend time in the car where it's illegal (or should be) to be holding a cell phone while driving, this would be an ideal way to stay reachable without worrying about wires getting in your way...

Yes, shipping is more than the item, but who cares? It is a truly dumb item that is wonderfully useful. I wear the lanyard around my neck with the earpiece as a pendant. The Plantronics 925 bluetooth earpiece doesn't fall off the lanyard, and the lanyard keeps the earpiece close by for when you want ready access (when the phone is on automatic answer and linked to the earpiece) but don't want it in your ear all the time. The lanyard also keeps the 925 from damage when you don't want to lug (hah!) the extraordinarily small, lightweight and beautiful recharging case around (walking to the gym without enough pockets). This lanyard has multiplied my enjoyment of the already spectacular Plantronics Discovery 925 earpiece.

Finally a blue-tooth earpiece I can use while wearing glasses. The unit stays in your ear by means of a plastic tab that fits under the ridge at the top of your ear so that you don't have to put anything into your ear canal or over your ear. And it stays put! You have to rotate it around a bit to find the most comfortable angle, but once you get it, it's easy to duplicate and it never feels like the headset is going to come out.The piece itself is quite small. I have long hair and most of the time you can't even tell I'm wearing it (the headset that is, not my hair). When you can see it, it's very Captain Jack Harkness (a Torchwood reference for those of you who don't watch the show), not quite futuristic but very modern and as minimalist as you can get with today's technology. It's so small that I had to start carrying the included charging case to keep it from getting lost in my purse and possibly damaged. The case is very small and stylish and, best of all, recharges the earpiece when the battery in it runs out, as long as you have charged the carrying case. Both USB and AC cables are included for charging the phone and carrying case. The basic functions of the headset are easy to use, although since there is only one fuction button (along with a tiny volume button), it takes some getting used to -- you have to press it for 4 seconds to turn it on and off, tap once to answer the phone, tap twice to send a call to voicemail, 2 seconds for voice dialing, etc. If you're wearing the earpiece the fuctions are indicated by a series of tones and if you're looking at it by flashing lights. It's all a bit confusing at the beginning and you have to get the hang of it, but it works. Sound is quite good (much, much better than speakerphone or other headsets I've used), both for the wearer and the person at the other end of the line, at least with AT&T service in Los Angeles, and the voice dialing feature worked flawlessly with a Motorola phone.I guess whether the headset is worth the price depends on how much you use your headset, whether looks matter to you, and whether you need an earpiece that doesn't hook over the ear. For glasses wearers who need to use their headset while driving or whatever, I'd say it's worth every penny.

Instead of in the ear, it sits on, or slightly above the ear opening. The comfort grip gel earpieces that come in 3 sizes, allows the larger ear opening to hold the earpiece. It's hard to describe, but the cup of the ear holds it, enabling the speaker to sit on the ear opening (hole) rather than in it. This is important to know because I feel pain/discomfort after awhile with anything like an iPod ear bud that sits in the actual opening of my ear. This is a great improvement over that. The sound quality is great. If I had to get critical, I would say even though it blocks unwanted background noise, it is sensitive to wind noise.I was impressed with the dual indicators for on and off; both red & blue lights that flash when changing the on/off mode, and unique tone signals are provided for when wearing it and you can't see the diamond shaped button.I hooked it up to a Palm TREO 700P. Setting the 925 to pairing mode, and syncing it took less than 30 seconds. Before writing this review I wanted to get a good idea of the sound quality on both ends. So I ran a series of tests, with my brothers assistance, using the 925 with the Palm Treo calling my home phone using a quality Panasonic cordless. Outside with a strong cell phone signal, the 925 was indiscernible from a land line phone, and even when moving indoors, where I sometimes have trouble getting a call signal at all, although a little quieter, the sound quality was still excellent. The range is perfect up to 30 feet, from 30 to 33 it starts to break up a little and at 33 and above the signal disappears, but walking back into range, fixes that without losing the call.I was surprised that Plantronics could create such a clear signal out of such a small earpiece. The sound getting from your mouth to back around to something so close to your ear, with that kind of clarity is quite an achievement. The 925 is so small it is barely on the side of your face at all. That is what makes it so remarkable. This is a new entry from Plantronics, utilizing the latest technologies from the business professional headset leader for probably a couple of decades now. Other than a little wind noise, there wasn't anything I didn't like about it. Highly recommended.

UPDATE January 2009/ My Voyager 510 seems to be unbreakable - after about three years of constant use and abuse, this headset survived the ultimate challenge - full washer and dryer cycle in my shirt pocket! My wife found it after the fact when she was folding dry clothes. It had both red and blue LED on and we thought it died. Next day after the lights disappeared, I tried charging it and it was showing the flashing blue light like it was connected but it wouldn't react to anything or show any signs of life. Not knowing it was in a "coma" and thinking it was dead, I bought the new Discovery 925 set. Two weeks later, after returning from vacation I was ready to throw away the good old "mule", but I tried it one more time just for the heck of it, because of my great experience and confidence in Plantronics products. Before charging it I sprayed a little bit of WD-40 on the power/mute, volume and call buttons, jiggled them a bit, wiped it off and charged it again. This time everything worked and I was able to pair it with my phone and a week later, this old faithful, one-in-a-thousand Plantronics headset still works as good as new, and it seems it might give me a few more years of service. Amazing! /UPDATEUPDATE June 3, 2007/ I recently received a Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset and expected it to be the Holy Grail of bluetooth headsets, but in spite of its great fashionable and light design and state of the art electronics, its sound quality is one class below this headset. Plantronics Voyager 510 is still the best/UPDATEI have owned or tried several supposedly great Bluetooth sets with several different phones, including some Blackberries, Motorola Razr and L6, and here's why I got to appreciate this somewhat clumsy set so much:1. Good output volume and quality. When I'm using Plantronics Voyager 510, people I'm talking to cannot tell I'm on a Bluetooth headset - not even when I'm driving. The case was the opposite when I was using Jabra BT250 and BT500, when I used to hear complaints about noise, static and low volume of my voice.2. Good and controllable earphone volume. It can reasonably well deal with traffic noise when I'm walking outside my downtown Chicago office. I can set the volume really loud, so the only case when I cannot hear my partner is when I'm walking too close to a moving train. My usual volume setting is around 1/3.3. This set's microphone tolerates wind so much better than the Jabras mentioned above which used to produce a great deal of wind noise whenever I was encountering a breeze. In addition, if I know I'll be outside in a windy environment I can put the included microphone sponge on.4. Good battery life. I don't have to charge it often.5. Although it seems very light and gentle in my hands, it handles everyday folding and switching between my shirt pocket and both my ears very well.6. No problems with long usage, unlike Jabra BT250, which used to irritate the skin on the back of my ear if I used it too long or too often. The only reason why I didn't initially give this set 5 stars is the somewhat clumsy power/mute button position. Years later, after getting familiar with many other competing products and learning how durable this headset is, I think it deserves 5 stars. Too bad I can't change it.I never heard about Plantronics before buying this headset and I grew to appreciate it a lot more after a year of usage. Only recently I discovered that Plantronics has a long history with headsets and that even the Apollo missions used their headsets on the Moon. Makes sense. "One small set for man, one giant leap away from other BT headset manufacturers. Houston, we have no problem".

Because reading the reviews of other Voyager 510 owners was very helpful in making my decision, here is yet one more, with hopes I can pass the favor on.The Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset by Plantronics does what it says, i.e., your hands are free to do anything else while you make a cell phone call...type, drive, take notes, eat a sandwich, or whatever you like doing while you're on the phone. That being said, they all do that. The best part about this one is that I can hear the other person literally loud and clear, better than via my phone itself. (Mine is a Motorola KRZR.) If that were the only feature, I would still buy this earpiece. The sound is that good. It's because, I think, the earpiece fits on the ear canal, not across the pinna, as others appear to do. Hearing is an important fact to keep in mind when buying an earpiece, wouldn't you say?True, as others have said, the on/off button is small and a wee bit awkward. But that's not worth taking off from this review. Think about it. You turn it on in the morning and off at night. It's not one of your frequently used functional buttons. The same goes for the volume buttons. They are a bit small, thus a bit awkward. It takes some push to use the on/off button, however, so working the volume toggle probably won't result in your turning your headset off accidentally. Again, once these are set you are not likely to change them. I find the volume I'm comfortable with and stick with it.The call control button is your real gearshift. It's easy to find, sitting directly over the ear piece, the center point of the unit. There is no magic to pushing it. That is, you don't have to do anything but push it...once to answer a call, once to end a call, press and hold to initiate voice dialing, press and hold to send a call you don't want to answer straight to your voice mail, or press twice to call the last number called. (Somehow its being able to remember and call the last number is intriguing).Speaking of voice dialing, next to good sound this is my favorite feature. It still fascinates me to push a button, speak a command, and complete a call to someone, all the time with my Motorola KRZR folded up and in my belt case. It's an amazing technology. If you're not careful, you can lose yourself in conversation and therefore lose mental control of your driving. On the other hand, your eyes remain forward, and you are not fumbling with flipping open your phone and fishing out numbers to push. Just be careful out there.Sound is good both ways. Those I call say they can hear me fine. I am able to test it when I dictate notes on the run, as my service allows me to replay short bits of my dictation. They sound as good as on any land line, proving good transmission.Plantronics customer service has a recorded receptionist with the most hypnotic voice I have ever heard. That makes calling them a treat. I had called looking for an automobile charger for the headset. They gave me the number for Sun Communications, who apparently are distributors for Plantronics here in the South. The clerk at Sun Communications was not very helpful. She wanted my name and phone number before she even heard what I wanted. These days, information seekers like that are not very comforting. She seemed miffed when I refused to tell her. Whatever. I went right to my question about the automobile charger. It's called a lighter adapter, and it was not in stock. It would take 10 days to order one. She would not tell me any retailers who might carry it. Just so you know, it is part no. 69520-01, per Plantronics. Not finding a lighter adapter is probably my biggest complaint about the Plantronics Voyager 510. I have one for my phone, to save me when I'm on the road and my phone battery runs down. It stands to reason that I would want one for my headset, too. The search continues.Otherwise, using this earpiece is a delight. I wear glasses, and there is no competition between my glasses and the Voyager 510. It rides well on my ear, with no wiggle at all.I could go on, but the major points are covered here. I hope this helps you make a decision.

When I saw pictures and read the details about this Plantronics Discovery 655 DSP Bluetooth headset I just knew I would have to have one. I have owned several Bluetooth headsets in the past, most made by Motorola, and I have always continued looking for something that would stay in place and sound good to both myself and the people that I call. I just can't seem to find a Bluetooth wireless headset that shines in all of the important areas. They either fit lousy or sound lousy or both! This new headset from Plantronics looked to be the answer to my search for near perfection. It is very lightweight, fits snug in my ear, and has a very impressive appearence. It even comes with a multitude of charging accessories, to allow you to charge from a standard 110 volt household outlet, charge from a USB port on a home or office computer, and even charge from a single AAA alkaline battery. The headset provides very good tonal sound quality to the user and the sound output is quite good for the person on the other end of the conversation. What more could a person want from a wireless headset? How about decent phone to headset reception? Even with my Motorola Razr V3 and Razr MaxxVE cellular phones clipped to the belt around my waist I still experience constant reception problems. There is noticeable crackling and popping sounds and sometimes brief cutout of the conversation. Although the people on the other end of my conversations say that they notice only slight flaws in the sound, I find the amount of noise in the reception to be distracting and very annoying. The proximity of my phone to the headset doesn't seem to be the problem at all. Most of the time the headset is less than 3 feet from the cell phone it is paired with. I have tried the headset with both my work phone and personal phone, as well as with my wife's phone. Changing phones has no effect on the reception problems. To add further frustration, the headset does not work properly with the voice-dial feature of my phones. All of my previous Bluetooth headsets would allow you to push the call button, which would prompt the cell phone to activate the voice-dialing feature. This Plantronics model requires you to manually activate the voice-dial feature from the telephone itself or to punch in the phone number yourself. This really prevents me from using the headset as a safer means of calling from my car while traveling. I constantly receive compliments from friend and coworkers regarding how sleek the headset looks. But that just doesn't offset all of the shortcomings this headset has in terms of reception and functionality. The Plantronics Discovery 655 has a great look and an abundance of "extras" that are included in the package. However, if you are looking for reliable Bluetooth headset that will offer great sound and above average reception then I would recommend that you look elsewhere. I still give this item an overall rating of 3 stars because of its design, lightweight, comfortable fit and variety of charging options. They just need to give it better compatability with hands-free voice dialing and much stronger Bluetooth communication with the cell phone it is paired with.

I think I paid about $60 for mine. Didn't want to spend $100 or so for a top of the line Bluetooth headset; this was my first one. Aside from the comments others have made about the charger, it's really difficult to get it turned off properly. The manual says to hit the button for 6-8 seconds until the indicator light turns red or until you hear a beep. Okay- done...and my phone tells me it's no longer connected. But then the next time I went to use it a couple of days later, it was dead. Seems that when you follow those instructions, it's off, but it's not really off. The blue light still flashes every few seconds, running the battery down. So, you have to keep messing with the button trying to find precisely the right combination and timing of button-pushing so that it turns off completely, and doesn't turn itself back on again. You have to check to make sure the blue light is no longer flashing so that it really is off. When I'm talking on it, I'm told that I sound really far away, although I can hear just fine. I'm also told that minor little background noises (opening a bag of potatoe chips for example) are really amplified to the person you're speaking with. You do get three different sized rubber earpieces, so you should find a comfortable fit, however the earpiece is designed to come off when you rotate it to a certain postition. That position is extremely close to the position that you would use when it's in your ear, so the earpiece will sometimes come off when you don't want it to. Looks like the price has come down now, so if you just want a cheap Bluetooth headset to leave in your car, and you don't plan to use it much, it may be okay. If you're someone who spends a lot of time using one, however, you'll want to keep shopping.

This bluetooth has a long charge life, and the reception is excellent. The problem I have with this product is that it is hard to keep in your ear. The little plastic hook that comes with it pops off and the ear peace falls out if one of the three ear plugs don't fit just right. It also has a charger that is difficult to operate. If it is not placed properly it will not charge. This is more work than it is worth.

The Plantronics Voyager 510 has been an absolute work horse for me for the past nearly 2 years. When I say workhorse I mean it. I put over 5 hours of talk time on this device 5 days a week for well over a year. I used it in a weekly 4 hour commute, during the day in the office, at night to talk to my family from the hotel and a number of other usages. I know this device and using it is as familiar as turning on my blinker in the car.The Good:1. Great noise filtering. The microphone does a great job of filtering out ambient noise including wind.2. The battery is excellent and lasts for days on standby and for at least 6 hours talking.3. Multipoint Technology. This technology rocks. I have both my work (Blackberry) and personal cell phone synched with this device at the same time and can call or answer either without pairing hassles.4. Pairs with a device that it has been setup with by simply pressing the primary button.5. Volume buttons on earpiece.6. Comes with multiple earpieces for comfort.7. Stable in the ear. It doesn't feel as if it will fall out.8. Durable. I used this hard for a few years and it has only now started to fall apart. Still works though.9. Shares common power supply with many other Plantronics devices for ease of power sharing.10. Larger then competitors but very light. The Not so Good:1. It is bigger then most other devices.2. The earpieces are prone to fall out and don't stay secured after about 6 months. As you can see I really don't have much bad to say about this device. I am only now replacing it after 2 years of use and that is because the earpiece fell out and I can't find the pack that came with it. It still works! I replaced this unit with the Plantronics Discovery 925 and I might like that even better. For the money though you cannot beat the Voyager 510 in my opinion. 5 stars!

I have been reluctant to use a bluetooth. I do not like the feel of most headsets in my ear, I am always worried about picking ambient noise, and I don't like walking down the street looking like I am talking to myself. Well, the Discovery 925 answers two of the problems (I still look crazy walking down the street).First off, synching up the Discovery to my Motorola Razr was simple. I just set my phone to look for the bluetooth, held down the two buttons on the Discovery and in a matter of seconds they were synched.Next, I placed it in my ear and was surprised how comfortable it felt. I did have to switch the gel pad for a smaller one. It is nice that the headset comes with three (in different sizes) to choose from.As far as the sound quality I was impressed with how low I was able to speak and still have the person on the other end hear me. Even out in public I did not have to shout over the noise in order to be heard. When I needed to increase the volume, it was easy to locate the button because of the diamond shape of the ear piece.Last, but not least, is charging. Plantronics could not have made this any better. They give you three ways to charge your headset (depending on your environment. First, you are given a standard AC power cord that plugs directly into the unit. Next you are given a USB cord allowing you to charge your earpiece from any USB device (PC, laptop, etc.). Finally, they give to a recharging battery case. This nice looking case not only can store your headset while not in use, but it will recharge your headset via a battery that holds one full charge. This is very convenient if you need yo charge your headset and don't want to bring either cord with you (The case can be recharged by using either cord. All in all I think Plantronics did a great job developing a headset that is comfortable, works well, and is very functional. Is it more expensive than others? Yes, but it seems well worth the price.

I've used this headset for 5 months now. It comes with a variety of ear tips to help fit your ear. Spend some time with each of them to find the most comfortable. Note that with the non-round ones that you can insert them in 2 directions and no one's ears are the same. The tips can be inserted 180 degrees opposite, then you still get the extra rotating "play" they leave you to fine tune it after inserting. I ended up staying with the round one, which is comfortable and yields the flexibility of use on either ear, although I almost always wear it on the same side. I have nearly forgotten it is there and worn it for many hours straight with no discomfort. I will never go back to holding a phone to my head again. When I had a wired headset, I would only ever put it on when I was going to be in the car for a while; it stayed in the car. Now, if I'm not already wearing my headset, I will answer a ringing call with my phone only long enough to get out the headset and punch the button to bring the call to it. My wife thinks I'm weird for putting on the headset to make a call when I have to get my phone out to dial a number anyway (and actually the voice calling works really well on the Samsung!). The fact is that it is so much better sound and more convenient than holding a phone to the side of your head.I have paired it with my Samsung SCH-i730, a Zonet BlueTooth USB Adapter (for game talk via Ventrilo / TeamSpeak), and a cheapo BT phone base station that lets it function with the phone line at home.If I talk too softly, others can't hear me, but I can talk much softer with the headset than when I hold the phone to my head, so it's better than my phone's microphone. It is not the most sensitive microphone compared with the wired professional desk phone headsets at work, but it is one of the best rated for noice cancellation so being able to use it in a noisier environment is priceless. If I have to say something quietly that I don't want nearby people to hear, then I can just cup my hand to one side of my mouth and it directs my voice straight back towards the headset. With this headset, you won't be the jerk standing around yelling on a phone call (but if you are, I hope you get punched!)Quality of sound is great. I only notice stutter (some people call it static but it's a stutter not a hiss) if I get a wall or two or about 25 feet of clear space away from my Samsung. If my phone is charging in my car, I will just set the phone up on my dash and run into a store to get a refill and not lose the signal while I'm inside. Sometimes if certain things touch against the BT antenna part of my phone, I will hear a little stutter. I just move my arm or whatever it was away from the spot and all is well again. The funny thing is, I can't purposely cause this when I try to cover my phone with my hand or arm; it is only in certain circumstances as if it has to do with the wireless signal bouncing around just right to cause stutter.I found I could usually go 2-3 days between charges with my casual cell phone use (~20 min a day?). If you are a heavy cell user, expect about 3-4 hours of talk time in 1 day. If you need more you will have to charge this thing halfway through the day. When I started using it with Ventrilo and TeamSpeak, I had to start charging it on my way home from work, as it would only last about 3 hours of talk time after being in standby all day. I have some very good wired headsets for the computer, that I used to use for Internet chatting, but all of them pick up breathing "wind" from my nose. I never noticed that in a conversation with someone, but for gaming you sit and wear it while you're quiet a lot. You want to have it transmit when you talk but not when you sit and breathe. This headset sounds many times better than the wired ones, and does not pick up breathing or background noises unless the speakers get turned up too loud.I ordered a Plantronics USB charger cable, belt clip carry pouch, and an extra pack of eartips from HeadsetZone for a great price. I am not sure if I'd recommend the belt clip if you would tend to lose the headset out of it from a brush against anything that would catch on it. The belt clip leaves about a third of the headset exposed; it's more of a pocket than a case and has nothing but slight friction to keep the headset in it. I almost always have my shirt untucked but I still have to check the headset on my belt often to make sure it isn't falling out. If this concerns you then find something that has a velcro or snapping cover. I already owned a Cigarette-to-USB-power plug, which comes in handy for many USB devices in the car, including the charger cable.

Ужасно

I sold my Discovery 650 and upgraded to the 655 because I thought the DSP would cut the noise in the car. Boy, was I disappointed. Not only did it sound a lot worse to people on the other end, but it sounded a lot more choppy on my receiving end as well.It stays in my ear fairly well, even without the ear loop -- just the eargel. BUT...The eargels unclip too easily when in a pocket, bag, or ESPECIALLY when in the pocket-clip charger. If I have it clipped on my pocket, the eargel faces out and unavoidably rotates to its removal position. When I brush up against anything the eargel flips out. I've lost two eargels now and it just sits in a drawer. They should have designed a better retention mechanism on the eargel with some kind of positive release mechanism, and/or have the eargel facing back when it's in the clip in a pocket so it won't get torn off.I also hated the force required on the buttons. I never used the volume controls (always did it from the phone), and I dreaded getting calls because I'd have to MASH the answer button into my head. One more thing -- It's always getting "unpaired" from my Treo 680. I have to go through the Treo menus to get it to pair again. To be honest, this may have to do with the Treo more than the headset, but the two do not like each other that well. The Discovery 650 without the DSP had much better audio quality, slightly lighter force on the buttons, but the same problems with eargels getting torn off in my pocket.--- UPDATE ---I called Plantronics tech support and they immediately sent me out new eargels. So I'm using it again.

On the strength of the very high rating and huge reviewer feedback here on Amazon, I bought this Bluetooth device -- my first bluetooth headset ever. I finally have a phone that has Bluetooth capability, and I was keenly interested in a wireless headset that wouldn't have the cord tangle issues of corded headsets. This device does exactly what I wanted it to do. It was a piece of cake to setup on my Verizon Samsung u540 phone. You wouldn't even need to crack open the user manual except to discover the 4-digit code you have to plug-in to your phone (it's 0000, btw). After that, it's a snap to turn on and link to my phone. My other important concern was voice clarity, both on sending and receiving. Thus far, after several hours of use, I can tell you that the voice reception I hear is crystal clear. No crackling, no hollowing or echoing. On the other end, I've not had anyone complain about being unable to hear my voice or that my voice is coming across muddled -- interestingly, I've had such complaints while using my old, corded headset! The power button *is* small and it *is* a tad more difficult to depress than you might want, but then, you won't accidentally turn on or turn off this device because of the way it's designed. I agree with others -- turn on the device before putting it on your ear, and do the same when you're turning it off.As for noise canceling, my wife and I tested out this device in very noisy home with four small kids, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this headset communicated my voice but not the ambient noise in the room.Using the volume control on the headset was pretty easy to do. Note that you can control voice volume either through the phone handset volume control or the control on this Plantronics headset. If other reviewers are complaining about low volume from this headset, it's likely because one of the two volume controls is turned down too low, or perhaps the mobile phone their using doesn't have much by way of signal output. This Plantronics headset has *plenty* of loud volume if that's what you want.As for ear comfort, I found it to be very comfortable, although I haven't worn it all day long. I talked to a friend for an hour yesterday, and I had absolutely no discomfort at all. The device comes with three earpieces (small, medium and large). I use the medium with great results. The phone fits snuggly on my ear and it doesn't move around at all, although I'm not jogging or even walking much while using it.I like the more discreet look of having the "guts" of this device behind my ear, with a thin microphone on the side of my face, rather than the fat Motorola designs.Other reviewers have cautioned about the headset breaking, so I just take very gentle care while handling it. I suspect I won't have a problem with it falling apart.I can't speak to battery life, because after a lengthy phone call, I just recharge it so it's ready for the next call I might make. Charging it is easy to do and doesn't take long, either. In sum, I'm very satisfied with this device. As long as it doesn't break, it's performance and comfortable design make this an excellent choice.

I bought the Plantronics Discovery 925 for my wife. I was selfish and splurged for myself, buying the new Jawbone 2.0. I felt bad about buying a "superior" product for me, but I rationalized how I needed it more since my job requires more important cell phone communications.Who was I kidding? Not only does my wife talk more on her cell, but she has more background noise to block out while shuttling our two boys (6 and 3 years old) all around town.I initially set-up her Plantronics Discovery 925 with my iPhone and used it for a week. It was easy to set-up, simple to use, light weight and real comfortable in my ear. Plus, the sound quality on both ends was great. The sound on my end was better than using the cell phone directly and the sound for my callers was almost as good. Most callers never mentioned the sound and when I asked about it, they usually said it was great. Once in a while, people thought I sounded a little like being in a cave, but that was the exception, not the rule. Overall using it was a great experience for a novice headset user.A week later, my new Jawbone arrived and I passed the Plantronics Discovery 925 to my wife. From the start I was unhappy with the new Jawbone. I didn't like how it clipped over my ear, plus the back of the unit rubbed against the outer part of my ear. But worst of all, the sound was terrible compared to my 925. Jawbone is known for sound quality and noise cancellation, but it was no match for the 925.I am returning the Jawbone and I bought a second Plantronic discovery 925 for myself. Serves me right, so next time I'll splurge on my wife...

I've been a big fan of Plantronics products for some time. They make a-lot of commercial communication equipment for aviation, dispatching, etc. and I've used some of them in those capacities. The kind of commitment to quality it takes to maintain those markets shows up strongly in their Bluetooth Headsets. I had been using their "Voyager 510" Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology [Retail Packaged] headset for a year and have never had a single complaint. When asked to review this product, I thought it would be hard to live up to the Voyager's performance, but the "Discovery 925" handled it with ease. This is a new idea in Bluetooth headsets. It is ultra light, sharp looking and meant to be worn for extended periods without discomfort. For the first time in my experience there is no "over the ear" sling or hard "loop" to snag on your hair, jewelry or rub your ear the wrong way. The 925 fits inside your ear and at about 1/3 of an ounce, you hardly know it's there. It comes with three sizes of gel eartips that I would think would fit just about everyone. The mic boom is contoured to follow the curve of your cheek. I am a very large man and this headset fits me like a glove. I also had my much smaller friend try it (with a different eartip) and it fit her equally as well. The ease of connection and sound quality is pure Plantronics. If you've used their Bluetooth headsets before and liked them, the 925 will not disappoint. If you're new to Plantronics, I would suggest giving them a try. They tend to cost a bit more, but in this case you really do get what you pay for.

Хорошо

Summary: I've had the Discovery 655 for two weeks now and I'm very happy with its audio, microphone, and wearability, particularly relative to the the Nextlink BlueSpoon product (now badged as a Radio Shack VoiceStar product), which is the other "in-ear" bluetooth I've had. The in-ear models are preferable to me because I wear glasses. I recommend the 655 to anyone, with only significant drawbacks in battery life and unnecessary complexity in recharging. Detail follows...Wearability: (4/5) It stayed in my ear securely walking through the airport, getting into and out of the car, etc. -- all without the optional ear loop. Comfortable enough and light enough that I often forget it is in my ear. The mid-size ear bud worked for me. The BlueSpoon product is slightly better and more secure, but the 655 works fine. Great for people with glasses.Audio quality: (5/5) Both the incoming and outgoing audio quality are far superior to Nextlink/VoiceStar. The VoiceStar (and to a lesser extent the BlueSpoon) incoming audio was constantly crackling to the extent that it was unbearable. 655 is very good. My wife tells me that I sound very close to handset quality when I use the 655, and it even works in mild wind. The DSP drowns out some background airport/airplane noise, but not a lot. The audio from the headset was plenty loud, and I rarely have to turn my BlackBerry volume up over halfway when using the 655. With the BlueSpoon, I was at max volume or one away from max volume all the time, rendering the BlueSpoon useless in loud environments like the airport or in the wind walking from the office to the car.Cost/Value: (5/5) If you get the good deal through Amazon (around $70) it is well worth the price and functionality you get. BlueSpoon/ VoiceStar was close to the same price with audio only half as good as the 655. I wouldn't pay the $120-150 that some retail sites are asking for this product.Buttons: (5/5) Yes, they are more difficult to push than the BlueSpoon or other over the ear Bluetooth headsets, but it doesn't bother me at all or knock the headset out of my ear when I push them.Battery life: (3/5) Doesn't last nearly as long, both in talk time and standby time than the BlueSpoon. I didn't rate it lower because it is a known trade-off for getting DSP. The 655 also offers you the option to turn off the DSP to save battery life. Haven't tried it yet.Charging: (4/5) The ability to charge via a USB cable is a big plus, but the BlueSpoon USB charging was so much more simple. The 655 requires that you carry around the extra charging "sleeve," and to use the USB charger, you have to snap on an extra extension to be able to plug in the small USB end of th cable. The BlueSpoon headset simply had the small USB plug built directly into the headset, so no extra parts necessary. However, the sleeve does allow for the extra functionality of being able to recharge via the AAA battery snap on attachment. The 655 sleeve also seems to have fixed the loose fit problems that plague the 640/645 based on the 640/645 reviews I've read.Looks: (5/5) Much less bulky than over the ear headsets and it looks very sleek and modern. Very nice.Misc:- The 655 will blink a different number of times when you turn it on to let you know approx. how much battery life is left -- very handy.- There is a slight delay between when you place your call and when the 655 starts transmitting audio to your ear -- usually about one ring. Nearly all calls end up ringing a couple times, so this didn't create any issues for me.
