I've tried a bunch of Bluetooth headsets, mostly about a year or so back when I first got a Bluetooth phone. Went through the Moto HS-820, which had horrible battery life, then the Logitech Mobile Freedom (which was pretty good! but w/o DSP allowed too much noise through), Logitech Mobile Traveller (which I got for free from Logitech because an in-warranty headset broke -- this thing felt like it was making my ear bleed it was so uncomfortable), and finally the Gennum nxZen Plus. The nxZen is a sweetheart, a lovely headset that I had no complaints against.But, well, I started a new job and could expense a headset, and I liked the idea of being able to charge my headset using a Nokia adapter (which you can get separately with the 655, and comes with the 645). So I got the 655.Ugh.Problems with it:1. It occasionally makes a three-tone sound that is completely undocumented in the book. I *think* it means the phone is re-establishing connectivity with the headset, but it looks like it's already connected. It's just disconcerting;2. The button to answer/end calls is so stiff that you have two options -- you either hold the headset between two fingers and press the button, or you press the button, mashing the headset into your ear. Neither is a particularly pleasant option;3. Most importantly, callers complained about poor sound quality -- especially as compared with the Gennum nxZen Plus. That basically killed it for me.I'll be returning this headset on Monday.-roy

Overall, the unit is ok. Not a glowing review but if no wired headsets were available, I would use this. The quality on my end is very good. However, most people on the other end of the line complain of poor quality audio, clipping, and static. As soon as I terminate the bluetooth connection they instantly say, "that's much better!"I have the unit paired with a Blackberry Pearl 8100. Hopefully those of you using the Pearl will have better success pairing with this headset.

I can't say enough about this headset! Since I first purchased a BlueTooth cellphone I have been through 6 different headsets. For one reason or another each had either been returned within a week, or ended up in a drawer. This headset is just perfect. I can't think of a negative thing to say about it. It is the most comfortable, the battery life is good, the sound quality is the best I have had, and with all of the attachments Plantronics has added it gives this headset adaptability that I had never even thought of but really use! Of the 6 Bluetooth headsets I have owned the highest rating I could give any of them except this one would be 3 stars, but this one deserves 10!As for the comments of others that the headset does not fit snuggly into the charger, it is NOT meant to! It is meant to slide into the charger so that it charges while just resting in the tube! This way you do not have to worry about whether it has made a good connection or not. If it is in the tube it is connected and charging. I would suggest caution if you place the pocket-clip charging tube a shirt pocket if you bend over a lot, but to remedy this just place it in your pants pocket instead. It vibrates if you get a call while in the charging tube, so you'll be alerted either way, and it goes in your ear so fast and comfortably this is not an issue when you are alerted to a call while it is in your pants pocket. IF the headset is in the charging tube you can be assured that it is charging, and don't have to worry about whether it has properly connected inside. Besides, how many other headsets are there that come with an accessory that lets you use a AAA battery to charge it in a charging tube while away from an electrical source? None that I am aware of. You don't even get this "option" with any other product.

I researched numerous bluetooth headsets before buying this one. I was not looking for a headset to be nuclear bomb proof, to be used in a hurricane, or need a bank loan to purchase. Despite the fact that it was not the most expensive, it was in the top three or four on most research sites.Here are the positives:1- I have been using it for about three weeks and am well pleased with it. Incoming and outgoing audio is natural sounding. It quickly linked with my Samsung cell fone and I have not once lost the initial coupling.2- The unit comes with three differently shaped earpiece covers which makes wearing more comfortable and assists in keeping the headset stable on the ear. I really like the fact that the circuit housing fits behind the ear. It's so light weight that you sometimes forget that you have it on. It does require some comfort adjustments if you wear glasses, but I suspect that is an issue with any bluetooth headset.3- I use the headset intermittenly about 3-4 hours a day. That only requires a charging every 4 or 5 days. Unlike many chargers that are the size of a boxcar, this one is relatively small.Now the negatives.1- If the headset feels loose in your ear, you have a natural tendancy to put your finger on the middle of the piece and push it back into your ear. Unfortunately, the middle of the unit is where the call control button is. I disconnected several calls before I trained myself not to push the middle area of the headset.2- The most annoying negative, is the on/off button. It is about as mickey mouse as it gets. It is so small that it is impossible to use when the headset is on the ear. Even when not on the ear, it is so small that it doesn't have a distinct feel of a normal switch. It's very difficult to know, by feel, if you have turned the unit on or off. You have to look at the LED blinker to determine that.3- The owner's manual leaves something to be desired. Probably written by someone who never used the product. If you have more than a two digit IQ, you can survive it.Bottom line - I got what I was looking for and would buy it again.

Sound is good. I found it comfortable even with the ear loop.However, like others, I cannot keep it charged because it will not stay in the charger. No matter what I did it kept creeping or falling out, then was not fully charged when I needed it. So I got a new charger under warranty from Plantronics. New charger, same problem. Plantronics has obviously known about this for a long time so it's inexcusable it has not been fixed.Also, to charge it with the battery charger (a great idea very poorly executed) you just stick it in the crappy charger then the idea is to clip it to your shirt pocket. The device just sticks out and unless you are wearing it right side up, in your pocket, there is no way to use it. The device will fall out or get trashed inside a purse. In fact, the design of the battery charger totally precludes putting it into a purse or briefcase. What about girls? What about boys who don't happen to be wearing a shirt with pockets? What about boys and girls who don't want to look like nerds with a goofy looking pocket charger? What was Plantronics thinking?No matter how good it sounds it's worthless if you can't keep it charged. I'll be throwing it out and looking for a new bluetooth. It will NOT be a Plantronics.

In light of several of the reviews, I was somewhat concerned about the 655, but decided to purchase it anyway. The 655 DSP that I received was either redesigned or some reviewers were describing a different model. The device I received fits very securely in its charger case; it lights up and vibrates to indicate a proper fit. I had no problem keeping the device in its charger. The device was very comfortable to wear, and did indeed stay securely in my ear when moving about (without the ear loop attachment, which I have not tried). Some reviewers complained about the USB adapter. I had no problem with it; it snaps into the charger base, and does not fall out. The device needed to be charged (this was expected and it took about 3 hours, in line with the manual instuctions). The device paired effortlessly with my Cingular 8525 (the process took less than a minute). Call quality was quite good (although I only used it from my car and my office (quiet locations), reception was clear and sufficiently loud in both directions. There is a very slight delay (1 second or so) between incoming calls being received by my handset and the call being relayed to the device. In practice, I could not answer the phone fast enough to beat the device's receipt of the relayed signal. Frankly, the 655 DSP worked better than I had expected, and I very much recommend it.

I really like this device. It takes some getting used to since it's so lightbut once you develop confidence that it will stay in your ear you get very comfortable with it...turned up coat collars or shirt collars can bump into it...they will dislodge it.How does it work? With my Razr-GREAT!...very good sound and good volume...those who complain about sound and volume in other reviews may not have placed it into the ear canal properly, practice with it and you'll get it right...I use it in a 2001 Trans Am, NOT a quiet car! and I can hear and be heard easily...it connects to phone quickly...there is a delay for voice activated dialing on my Razr...I only hear the first "......and" part of "Say a command". I haven't seen anything better but be aware that this will occur.The charger complaints of older or other Plantronics systems have been addressed and the thing charges quickly and properly from its AC adapter and the USB connector. I haven't had call to charge it from the AAA batter charger unit yet but expect it will work just fine. Keeping track of all the parts requires a "baggie" in my computer backpack...otherwise I'd be on a constant treasure hunt.I can recommend this headset. I really like it and find it useful

I bought this headset on July 3rd, 2007 and fell in love with it after the first time I used it, but with in 3 days it was already acting up and by July 7, 2007 I couldn't even turn the headset off at all so I returned it and got the Jabra BT8010 instead. Not this wasn't my only problem with the headset.I also didn't like the gel piece that went into my ear as after wearing for a little while it would make my ear sore, also I learned quickly that if I didn't get a hold headset before pushing the answer button it would jam the gel earbud into the ear which was also quite painful, so all in all if you are looking for comfort look else where.

Have been using the headset for a little over a month now and like it for the most part. I use it with a Treo 650, and aside from normal Bluetooth issues like device pairing issues (very rare), occasional static caused from radio interference, etc., it has done rather well. I really like the weight and comfort. I have done 2hr+ conference calls with no ear discomfort at all (although I immediately had to charge the headset after that...). Speech quality according to the people I talk to a lot is much better than before (Palm Treo Wireless headset was my old model).I bought the extra Palm charger adapter so I can charge the headset with both USB and Palm chargers. The ability to do an emergency recharge with an AAA battery is also a large plus.My only complaint is the design of the charger/carrier. It seems that I have to jam the headset into the charger/carrier with a lot of force, and any movement whatsoever causes the headset to seperate from the carrier. This isn't that much of an issue most times, as I will charge the headset overnight when there isn't any movement on my desk. But in the case where I have to do a during-the-day recharge, I have to check every so often to make sure the headset is still charging. Another minor complaint is that the owner's manual isn't accurate with respect to the description of the light flash sequencing. The chart in the manual either is wrong, or I don't know how to read it. Either way, it is confusing.I would have given 5 stars if the charger/carrier combo was better designed. But given my usage, it more an annoyance than a critical design flaw.

What a sigh of relief. After purchasing the Motorola HS850 and having a horrible experience (see my review), I thought Bluetooth technology was a lost cause. However, based on many reviews I saw right here about the Voyager 510, I decided to try it one more time and bingo, just what I was looking for. So first the negatives for the skeptics like myself:1. The 510 is bulkier than the Motorola HS850 and does not fold up to easily fit in your pocket. I am afraid that I will brake it at times, but it has held up to mild abuse in my pocket.2. It is difficult at times to get on your ear. It is very flexible, which makes for added comfort, but makes it difficult to position on your ear initially.3. The power button is very difficult to use when the headset is on your ear. This is a huge drawback, especially since it is difficult to get on your ear. This is such a pain that I dropped my rating from a 5 star to 4 star. There has been a few times that I forgot to turn the device on before placing it on my ear and I have to take it off to turn it on because the power button is difficult to find and push.4. The device is not too sexy, but I could care less because I was looking for utility not a piece of jewelry. For those of you who do care, it doesn't look as good as the HS850. However, a piece of advice, you don't need to put the sponge over the mic. It looks much better if you just install the ear piece but keep the mic bare.As you can tell by my 4 stars, the positives far outweigh the negatives:1. It works! I can hear everyone clearly and they can hear me, even if I am driving. I haven't tried it in the airport yet, but it has worked superbly in all the other environments in which I daily encounter noise including walking around in the city. This is totally opposite my experience with the HS850.2. It was relatively easy to program to my phone.3. Although heavier and bulkier than the HS850, it is much more comfortable on my ear and stays in place as I walk. The HS850 tended to dangle and not stay in place.4. It is easy to answer and hang-up a call with just a press of the button on the side of the headset.5. Great battery life that last longer than the talk time on my phone.6. 3 different ear pieces that are each shaped differently are included, so you can get the right fit for you. I found one that fit my ear great and I can hear crystal clear with it.7. And let me stress again that I have not had anyone complain that they could not hear me and I can hear others as if I have a wired headset. This headset is truly great if you are looking for a device that works with a Blackberry.And that is the word of D Critique!

I haven't used too many other Bluetooth headsets, yet I can say that this is one of the best I've looked at. I read all the reviews and really research anything I buy. After all my research, I decided on this headset and can't complain. I've actually had the headset for alittle over 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. I have a Nokia 6255i cell phone. Voice clarity on the headset is great, everyone I talk to tells me I sound loud and clear, as for me I hear everyone loud and clear also. Volume on this headset is awsome, I leave the volume on the lowest setting and have no problem hearing while I'm driving in the car. I can go probably 25ft from the cell phone and it will still sound good, over that and it will get a little static.Fit is great, I like the way it wraps around the back of my ear. I can turn my head without the feeling like it's going to come off like some of the motorola headsets. I can wear this for hours at a time with no discomfort!I've actually had to have my original headset replaced about 2 months ago, my wife accidently washed it and believe it or not it still worked but not well. I contacted Plantronics and mailed in just the headset and they sent me a brand new one in about 1 week. The new one is even better it has the wind guard built into the mic instead of my original that I had to use the form over the mic to keep out wind.This is a 5 star headset, get it you won't be disappointed.

I fell in love with this headset at first sight. Although the reviews were mixed, I decided to chance it. As this was my first Bluetooth headset, I was optimistic. It's tiny, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. It paired easily with my Audiovox PPC-6700, and the volume and clarity of incoming calls was excellent. The perks ended there.Callers kept complaining that background noises were louder than my voice, and they'd ask me if I had them on speakerphone. In order for them to hear me, I had to be in a completely slient room (even the dishwasher had to be turned off, so forget trying to use this thing in the car). To see what the fuss was about, I called my voicemail and left myself a couple of messages using the headset. When I replayed them, I could hear the problems that my callers mentioned. I sounded like I was far away, and even after adjusting the position of my headset in every possible way, the volume didn't improve. I had to almost shout into the headset to make my voice come across louder than a mumble. I wasn't impressed by the range, I had to carry my phone around while using the headset, otherwise sound would get choppy.To sum it up, I returned mine; the quality of the product didn't meet my standards of how a $70 headset should perform. I'm strongly considering purchasing the Voyager 510 or Tekkeon EzTalker Mini as a replacement.

I purchased the 655 after reading a glowing review on cnet. I had read a lot of reviews on multiple sites that indicated that a lot of bluetooth headsets didn't provide a clear signal. Based on the cnet review I assumed the 655 was different.This being my first bluetooth headset, I'm not exactly sure what the standard is. However, the Plantronics literature for this model clearly states that users will have "33 feet to roam." In my experience, using a Blackberry 8700g, this is just false. I get a clear signal 8 to 10 feet away from my phone. After that the static kicks in and and increases dramatically as the distance increases. Maybe Plantronics is just copying the hyperbole of other manufactuers. Nonetheless,I'm not sure if I would have purchased this model if I had known that I was limited to 10 feet at most.With that said, I do find that reception is very clear within the 8 foot range. Also, the volume control is excellent. I found it easier to hear voices with the 955 than anything I'd experienced with a dozen corded headsets.The accessories are probably the biggest selling point. The 955 comes with three earpieces and can be recharged via a AAA battery, USB or with a provided electrical adapter.If you're looking for a bluetooth set that provides clear reception beyond 10 feet (like they claim they're supposed to) then I wish you luck. As of late 2006, based on reviews I've read, I wasn't able to find a single headset that gave that kind of reception. It seems that bluetooth headsets are not yet ready for prime time.

It is a gorgeous design exercise, but not a great headset. This headset comes with a huge array of accessories in a nice presentation case. The sound quality is middle of the field and inferior to far less expensive headsets.The headset is designed to hang in one's ear, which it may or may not depending on your head. If not, it comes with an uncomfortable wire loop that doesn't match the sleek appearance of the headset.The charge it anywhere collection of adapters and the clever charging tube is impressive, but I'd rather have a decent battery and a standard USB Mini-B charging cable (why just about every headset has a connector that is -almost- a USB Mini-b cable but requires a special USB cable, as do most digital cameras, seems insanely stupid to me).This is a stylish and compact headset, but the the compactness is somewhat compromised by the fragile in-ear silicone pad which doesn't last a few pocketings. The fountain-pen styled charging tube/carrying case is attractive and clever, but the silicone nobule pokes out on the same side as the pocket clip, pretty much insuring it's eventual dispersal during insertion or extraction from the tube.

I was very enthusiastic about this headset based on friends' recommendations and some reviews, but it was a huge disappointment. Apparently I got one with the defect where it kept slipping out of the charging tube. (That's one truly bizarre design.) It could not be charged. I contacted Plantronics and they agreed to ship a replacement (very good customer service, by the way). The second one fit better in the charger, but still fails to make contact 1 out of 5 or 6 times.Even when charged, the headset is hard to use. When in my ear, the join between the earpiece and main body is floppy and the headset flops down to an unusable angle. The controls and flashing-light sequences are hard to understand and follow. And to top things off, the Bluetooth performance with my Treo 700p is unacceptable (I can't even put it in the pocket of my jogging shorts without static, for example). At this point I've given up on it and am looking for a replacement.

I purchased a model 655 headset. It worked for about 20 minutes and then failed. I returned it to Amazon for a replacement and the second unit also failed within an hour.Amazon was easy to deal with for the return but I think Plantronics has a problem at least with the batch mine came from.I subsequently got a Plantronics 510 discovery unit which works fine.

The best bluetooth headset I've ever owned, hands down! I've had em all, Motorola HS810, the 850 (before it was released in the US), Plantronics old model, Jabra BT 500, 810 (the one with the LCD). There was always something wrong with them, either voice too low, caller couldn't hear me, uncomfortable, etc...but I gotta say this is THE best headset I've ever owned.I am a Field tech, I am always on the road, in crowded places and I was shocked when I heard my callers say they can hear me crystal clear while I was driving, in a mall, in a bar for a company party...and I could hear them and I didn't even turn my volume all the way up...imagine that! After trying all these headsets going back 2-3 years I thought Bluetooth technology would never be as good as wired headsets boy was I wrong. I found my perfect headset.ProsComfortable, stylish (imo).Quality during speaking and listening are top notch and frankly this is the most important anyway.ConsReally...after the quality of this piece anything supposed negatives I will tolerate...so will you!

Normally, ear-buds and earpieces shaped like them either hurt my ear, or just plain do not stay in. Guess my ear's got a funny shape. So, I love that this device comes with three different earpiece attachments. One's the traditional size and shape of an ear-bud, then there's a smaller one, and the third is the same size as a normal ear-bud, but with part of the circle enlongated, like someone had pulled on it while it was still soft.I tried the small one first, but it bruised the inside of my ear. Knowing that the regular bud doesn't work for me, I switched to the oddly shaped bud, and have no need to try anything more. I can leave the headset on now for hours without end and not be bothered one bit. I even forget that it's there sometimes! The level of comfort this headset gives is astounding!Also, it's the loudest earpiece around that I know of. I've let several friends and co-workers try it out and they all agree that it is the king. I actually have to use it with the volume turned all the way down most of the time to avoid getting my eardrums hurt! Now I just need to see if it will connect to the PS3 I'm going to get, and that would just be icing on the cake!

I got good use out of mine for the six months it lasted. The way this thing is built, to switch it from left ear to right ear, there are two swiveling joints which each turn 180 degrees. I never switch from ear to ear, but if you put it in your pocket, they can easily swivel around. Now, when you swivel them back, you had better make sure you swivel them in the right direction. There are internal plastic stops to stop you from turning it the wrong way, but they wear out, and once that happens, if you turn it the wrong way, you end up twisting and severing the internal wiring to the mic.

I bought a Discovery 655 because a co-worker raved about it. I've had a long list of headsets bluetooth and wired and always found the wired to be vastly superior (if not as convenient). This new 655 from Plantronics was great at first and I bought a second one for my wife, but a couple of months after using it, I'm getting more and more complaints from people on the other end of the phone that they can't hear me and I'm breaking up. At first it seemed like it only happened when the batter was low (the batter life on this unit isn't fantastic), but now it seems to happen all the time and my wife's has started doing the same. So, while I was a happy customer at first, I'm now at a point where I basically can't use the unit any longer.

Hi,I have bought this 2 weeks back without seeing its review.Then i realize that most of the negative reviews are true.I am not able to switch on/off some times...Connection with PC is good... but some times it got hanged and throws error...My sony ericsson mobile(from india) not able to find this device in bluetooth network.The buttons or too small... not user-friendly...i am going to return this, Voice also not good, everyone complaining about my voice from other end, they are not getting clear voice while i am walking.It is not even covering 3 feet range, full disturbances.My suggestion is go for some other one... not for this...

I really like this product but I realize that it's not for everyone. For the most part, the device works as advertised. The DSP works well as long as the device is "clocked" or angled properly. (Otherwise, it causes your voice to cut in and out a little.) I have used the 655 in my car and indoors but have not really tested it outdoors.As others have said, the range is very poor. I moved it to the far side of my body during a conference call and the quality degraded substantially. Another issue I have with the device is that it has never lasted me the rated 3.5 hours of talk time (even when I've turned it on after a full charge and talked/listened continuously until it died.) Further, I tried using the battery charger without success but I suspect that the battery that came with the headset may have been dead. I have not purchased my own AAA batteries to test the battery charger yet. Last, the headset takes a long time to charge.Despite these issues, I've found that the headset meets my needs. I bought it mainly for long conversations and to use while driving.

This is a great headset. The extras it comes with make it the worthier purchase than the newer model. I had the Jabra BT500 and kept misplacing it, so I tried this one because it comes with a case with a clip. I'm not one to wear this thing when I am not using it, so I really liked the vibrating function it has when it is placed in the holder. From what I am told, the clarity is better than the BT500 and the earplug fits comfortably in my ear and I don't need to use the clip. I has excellent battery life and two chargers, which is great, I can keep one at home and one in the office, and the AAA backup charger in my bag just in case. I would recommend over the BT500 because of the extras, and it seems to have better clarity on the sending end, i.e. people have told me that it sounds clearer to them than the BT500. The volume is excellent.

I use my phone constantly while driving AND have a moderate high frequency hearing loss. The 655 DSP is perfect for both. It works seamlessly as it is advertised to do. It fits my ear without the wire hook and stays all day. It is so light I totally forget I have it in. The earmold design is very efficient in delivering sound to the audio canal. I usually push it in as I recieve a call but that is not really necessary. The sound quality it delivers is VERY GOOD. I understand as well as with my $1800 hearing aid (that I remove in favor of the 655 DSP). Battery charge life is excellent. The controls work just fine (I had to get used to them). I totall recommend this unit. It surpasses the other 2 units I have used by around 250% or more.

I am please with the volume and clarity of the Plantronics Discovery 645 DSP put the hardware has several flaws:1) The charging cradle has no provision for retaining the rechargable ear piece. It just rested loose in the cradle and jiggled around as I drove. Consequently it did not charge. I found I had to hold it down while driving. It was so agrivating I was going to return it. Before doing so I attempted a fix. I cut slender strips of clear tape (approximately 1/8 to 1/14 inch wide and about 3/4 of an inch long and adheared them to the inside walls of the charging cradle on each side. I layered them until the earpiece would slide in and hold snugly. This solved the problem and has worked well ever since.2) The system comes with a variety of adaptors for different cell phone brand charging jacks but none fit the Sanyo brand of phones so it would not work with my Katana charger.3) It does not come with a car charger. I tried to use a car charger from several of my previous phones along with the provided adaptors but the unit would not charge. Apparently you must purchase their car charger.The person who designed the ear piece got it right. The person who designed the charge should be fired.

I have had numerous BT headsets and this one out performs them all in every area. I have been using it now for almost 6 months and feel comfortable reporting that the inbound and outbound voice quality is very good. I travel and am in the car and airport frequently. That said, I no longer have people telling me they can't hear me or they hear too much background noise. To me, this is what makes this unit a great headset.This unit also has good battery life (3-4 hours).

I must have a new redesigned model. I purchased mine 2006.The headset fits snugly into the charger receptacle and will not fall out nor shake free. When the unit is properly placed in the charger and in charging mode..the unit glows red and vibrates for a second, advising that it is in properly and it is charging. There is no mystery..PERIOD.Make sure the headset is fully charged before pairing.It is very small and extremely lightweight..comes with a first class aluminum color case..charger..a very nice aaa battery adaptor charging system that you may keep with you all day..keeping a fresh charge all day..adaptors for alternative charging devices..3 sizes of ear inserts and an optional over the back of the ear safety loop that is very discrete.... if you want extra assurance it is staying with you because it it so light. Use caution not to lose the device, it is so light that you may not know it is there.Great for voice activation and clear sound. To top that off..the Amazon price makes the Plantronics 645 a World Class Device.My review is my opinion of the Plantronics 645 as an owner and not a recommendation.Good Luck to everyone!!

I have purchased maybe five other bluetooth headsets;two styles of Nokias,three styles of motorolas'oh yeah! and one "Tech clip". well I sent the Motorolas' back, they felt to loose on my ears. The nokias' worked good for about a month, then the mic in one went out, and the other(different style)will disconect and is hard to connect back up. Well I deal with none of these problems with this model(Voyager 510).It connects and syay connected. I've been using it on two different phones;Samsung M920,& Samsung M500.The reception and quality of sound is the best I've owned. Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time(sometimes all day). This headset is great. Like many others, I've tried ones that are uncomfortable and hard to hear. I can't believe there are so many headsets on the market that are useless because you can't hear with them. No problems with the Voyager - I can hear everything loud and clear. In fact, I use the volume at a middle setting because high is almost too loud. And don't worry about the volume buttons on the headset, you can easily adjust the volume with your phone.One tip to pass along, which took me a while to figure out. To avoid the headset from turning off automatically via the auto-standby mode, you have to make at least one call when you turn it on. I couldn't figure out why my headset kept turning off after a minute or so, and then I discovered that it was only because I didn't place a call right away. Once I placed a call, it will stay on all day, ready for you to use!I don't think you can beat this headset for the price and quality, and I find it very comfortable. It balances nicely on my ear, and comes with 3 different size earpieces; the small one is the most convenient for me.

While I love the mic sensitivity, noise DSP and small size, this item has a major design flaw in that the physical connection from the earbud to the main unit constantly falls apart. The connect point is very delicate, with just a couple tiny plastic flanges to connect the earbud to the main unit. While Plantronics is usually very good, this one was a big miss - look elsewhere.The Aliph Jawbone looks interesting, and that's where I may be headed next.

I "upgraded" from a Plantronics Voyager(tm) 510 to the Plantronics Discovery 645 DSP and find the 645's sound no better than the older 510. The supplied charger does not hold the headset without "scotch" tape or a rubber band holding the headset in place, which is very awkward and unreliable. Wearing the headset without the "optional" ear stabilizer is near impossible and finding a comfortable fit can be challenging. Touching the headset while on a call can put it in mute mode and really make for a awkward connection. The inclusion of DSP reduces talk time considerably without a significant change in sound quality compared to non DSP headsets.

I've used a handful of handsfree devices and this one by far outshines them all. Now, its not to say that it's perfect, but with the online price being around $50-$60 shipped, it's a steal.Pros:Without reading more than a quick line about setting the headset up for device pairing - the headset connected effortlessly w/ my Samsung A920. I've never had a connectivity issue with these two devices.Most headsets - wired included - suffer from low max volume from the speaker - not this one. I've found myself having to turn the headset down a couple of notches because it is that loud. The sound is crystal clear as well.Although it looks a tad bit bulky - it is very comfortable. It just fits. The fact that they offer three different size ear pieces is a testiment to Plantronic's emphasis on customer satisfaction.I really dig the look of it too. It's bold, yet understated. It looks like a device that serves a purpose - not like some cheesy colored clip on that looks like it was designed for the highschool fashion runway. It looks functionally high tech.Cons: The power button is really small... but even w/ that con, there is a pro behind it - being that it isn't easily powered off makes it less likely to be accidentally shut off during either a call or when it's being carried in your pocket.All in all I give it extremely high marks for a truely exceptional device.disclaimer: I bought the new black and silver headset (version G). I can't attest for the grey and silver (version A) but I'm sure it is also a quality product.

After trying a Motorola and the Treo Bluetooth (made by Jabra) headset for my Treo 650, I thought I'd never get the same quality I could achieve with a wired headset. After much use of my wired headset, the socket for inseting the wired headset into gave out, and I had to have the entire phone replaced (under warranty). So I figured wireless was the way to go, as well as it seemed much more convienient than having a that cord draped across my chest while driving. I researched all the Blutooth headsets on Amazon, looking at everyone's descriptions, and that's hard! It seems like so many of the headsets have equal fans and detractors. However, the Plantronics 510 seemed to have very consistent reviews, as well as my awareness of their legacy as a high quality headset manufacturer going back to the Space Program of the Sixties.Well, it's nothing short of perfect! It has volume to spare! I could never get the Motorola or Jabra to be loud enough in areas where there might be competing sounds. The noise cancellation feature is spectacular!I've asked people I'm speaking to, and they havve no idea I'm on a headset. Crystal clear sound both ways.This is an amazing headset, at an amazing price. Maybe not as teeny as some bluetooth headsets, but this works and is frustration free. It synced up with my Treo in a heartbeat.February 2010 Update: I'm still using the same headset four years later! It works perfectly with my iPhone.

Reader,I've had Sony Ericsson, Logitech Mobile Freedom, Cario Scala 500, Plantronics Discovery 640, and finally this Voyager 510. Let me just say that my prior favorite was the Logitech but it was a little bulky and it disconnected from my phone after most calls (annoying).Having said that I now enjoy Plantronics Voyager 510. The higher model, Discovery 640 doesn't stand a chance. Yes the 640 is smaller, cooler-looking, but the features are not good. The 640 has no windguard, no noice-cancelling tech, and the talk time is short. The extra battery charger they give you and try to say that it boosts talk time does not. You can't talk and charge at the same time. Sheesh.OKay, so now with the Voyager 510, I love it. Great fit. It seems Plantronics has come out with a new version of the 510. The foam mic boom is not removeable but is built in much like the logitech is. The voice and sound quality are top notch. I've recorded myself and it sounds clear. I can even notice a difference with the noise-cancelling technology as the tv was on in the background, but my voice was still clear. Noice-cancelling is important.Pros:Clear, audible soundMic is sensitive and my voice for callers are clearWind-GuardNoise-Cancelling technology (must have!)Fit - stays on confortably and they give 3 earphone-like inserts (perfect)Cons:the only thing is that the mic boom seems to rub up on my cheek or is very close so sometimes it will make a scratching sound for the caller (since it's rubbing against my cheek). I haven't heard that complaint from other reviewers here so maybe it's unique to me. I don't have big cheeks so I don't get it.

The Discovery 645 DSP is a great Bluetooth headset. The quality is fantastic and it does not weigh down on your ear and make it sore like some of the other headsets do. I can use it in noisey environments and the person on the other end can hear me fine. The attachments are extremely convenient, you can charge the headset while you are on the go with an included battery charger or use the adapters that fit almost every make and model of phone charger. Having a batter charger and charger adatpers seperates this headset a mile from the rest. It also comes with interchangeable ear pieces so you will have no problem finding an exact fit for your ear. The only problem I have had with the Discovery 645 (and I think it is a major one) is the stability of the set in your ear. With or without the ear brace included the headset is prone to fall out. Since it falls off so often I can not where it all the time, thats why I gave it 3 stars.

I love this headset! My previous headset was a bluetooth motorola that got stolen a few months ago. I was reasonably satisfied with that headset and did not know what I was missing until I replaced it with the Plantronics 510. I can hear conversation so much better. I never have to push the set closer to my ear to be able to hear, which is what I often had to do with my former headset. It's really like having the person sitting next to me in the car.I never thought I'd like a headphone with an earbud but I love it. It is light and rests easily with no discomfort. Oddly enough, the slight weight of the earpiece resting behind the ear makes the fit secure and very comfortable. I forget I have it on.The volume control is easy to use and I actually have to turn it down sometimes--an experience I never had with my other headset! On that one, I was always wishing for a higher setting.After switching, my friends and family all confessed that they could now hear me so much better than on the other set. They can't even tell I'm in the car. And I love the fact that call waiting features are shown clearly and controlled on the phone itself. It makes switching between calls so much easier for me.I never write reviews but was willing to do so for this product for two reasons: 1)the number of reviews, which was impressive, helped me to try it--I want to return the favor and 2) I love this product!!!

It`s very lite and hardly noticable in your ear, that`s about where the good stuff ends. It`s somewhat difiicult to get positioned in the ear but it stays in place once you do. My main problem is with the button, it`s size is ok, but it`s hard to push, once you get it pushed it takes too long to answer. It should beep then quickly answer the call, it takes awhile. Using you phones voice commands don`t always work, I think it`s that dang button you can never tell if you have pushed it hard enough. Ok now the sound quality, if you are inside in a quite invirinment it sounds great, outside with background noise or some lite wind, not so good. I get input from my dispatcher whenever I use it outside, he always knows when I`m using it, so much for the DSP. This unit may be defective, it works but not as well as my Moto 820. I`ve tried at least 5 bluetooth head sets, I`m still looking for that one that does it all.

I live in South America and Bluetooth technology is just arriving. So being relatively new to the Bluetooth scene, I'm no expert by any means. The Plantronics 510 is my third headset. The others were rated on AMAZON with 4 stars or better.The Plantronics is the best by far in every class: comfort, performance, volume, reception and affordability. I can wear it for hours without discomfort. The fact that the earbud rest on your ear canal, or just enters it, there is no trouble hearing the caller. I have my cell phone volume at minimum and sometimes it's still too loud (that's a compliment!).Though no product is perfect, I have two complaints. I managed to break one earbud on the first day while experimenting on which size was most comfortable. They're made of thin plastic and I had a hard time removing the largest one. The earbud broke and the foam cover ripped. (I called Plantronics and they sent me replacements that same day.) Second, the on/off button has stopped functioning. I've had the headset for only one week. (I'll call Plantronics to see what they'll do about that.)For me, these "complaints" are not enough to take away one star in this review. The Plantronics 510 is probably the best Bluetooth headset on the market. It's very affordable and I'd buy another one without hesitation. Highly Recommended!!!

The headset unit is great if and whenever you are able to charge it. There seems to be a manufacturing defect whereby the charging link does not make a good connection with headset unit after you use it a few times. The headset unit will be charged and work just fine if you are willing to play around with it for a while until you get a changing connection. You need to set the charger on a stable base and therefore; it makes it almost impossible to charge while you drive. After you unit is charged, it is a fine piece of equipment. It does what it advertises. Calls are clear and your voice carries through clear. Using voice activation can be a challenge at times but this could be because of my Blackberry Pearl and not the headset itself. If Plantronics would address the defective charger issue, the headset would be the "ultimate" bluetooth.

After reading most of the reviews of every popular headset, I had low expectations. But this does everything I need. It stays in my ear without needing the behind-the-ear clip (although I think this would be necessary if you were running/exercising - me, I take a break from the phone). The sound quality is fine both incoming and outgoing - the only issue I had was calling from an airport where the background noise was really high - my caller said I kept cutting out, although the conversation was fine from my end.This is my first bluetooth headset so I don't know if it is a "5", but really it is an easy 4.5 for me.

Positive aspects:1. very comfortable. I got this because of the earpiece that fits in my ear instead of the typical outside-the-ear speaker. I can wear this thing without worrying about if falling off and the volume can be set quite high.2. Works well with my Macbook Pro. It was easily recognised by the OS and the output/input could easily be set in the control pannel.3. Range was quite good when using with my laptop. I could walk 20 feet away and still have a clear signal. Things started getting a bit spotty any further than that.I would probably recommend this... it's probably the best you'll get for the price.Negative* Aspects1. I wish the audio quality were better. I felt the sound was around 32.000 kHz. I was hoping it would be a bit higher... more like a normal 20-22,000 headphone range. It is significantly less. I don't have trouble understanding anyone... but it certainly sounds worse than my phone's built-in earpiece.2. I found it started behaving erratically after about 4-5 hours. It didn't give me a low battery signal but it still would randomly turn off. maybe the battery just needs to run a few cycles.*this could be the nature of bluetooth audio

I am the target for this item. I'm on the phone and on the road constantly. I love these kind of toys.The sound quality for this headset was great. I could hear fine from my motorola, but others couldn't hear me, this item resolved that.However, the ability to change the ear bud sizes means that the ear bud gets knocked off easily, and I don't have it in my ear all of the time. It might get pushed into a pocket at the airport or into a case during a meeting, so then there is a search to find the pieces and put it back together when I need it. The over-the-ear holder (my kids call it a geek-wire) held the headset on really well and gave me that warm secure feeling, but caused the bud to fall off even more often. If it's not convenient for me all the time, I can't use it.Make this a little tougher and I'm in. Right now, I'm looking for something more rugged.

I got this headset and loved it right away. The look was so sleek, and it was light and comfortable, easy to use. HOWEVER, the battery life was just awful. I would use it for 45 mins in the morning, and maybe 30mins throughout the day, and by afternoon, it was dead. The travel/pen charger is not very practical if you need the piece on your ear all the time. And a AAA battery doesn't seem to charge it very well. A shame - it's a great headset and I would have loved to keep it. But it just didn't cut it. I ended up returning this headset. Amazon was great with the RMA process - that's why I shop Amazon - they'll take care of the consumer.
