When I received this device I put it on a charge for 24 hours - had one just like it before so I knew how to set it up. It would not charge and would not sync with my Iphone. When I called Plantronics to get help, I found out that this device had actually been manufactured in 2007 so was way out of warranty. Of course I was able to return the device for a full credit but overall not a good experience.

I really like this headset. It's easy to use. The quality of call is great. The earbud is soft and in 3 sizes. The wire that goes around the ear is thin and comfortable. For anyone who's ears are very close to the hear, this headset is awsome!!!

I am very unsatisfied with this purchase. The problem is related to its battery. When I charged it first time (lasts 3.5 hours ) it was enough to work for one day without talk instead 270 hours. And the time of battery life after each next charging steadily decreased. And to day (after 2 weeks of using this headset) it was discharged in 4 hours. Horrible!

Purchased the 230 model for $30 and at first it seemed fine. In testing this device I didn't go by subjective opinion such as asking the other person on the other call if they can hear me ok. That type of comment is useless. So....I am currently trying a note taking service called Jott Notes which you call by phone, it records your voice and converts it to text. (I love it) however with this bluetooth I noticed it didn't always capture and transcribe everything I spoke, sometimes it even didn't recognize my voice at all. Sure enough, I then tested the Motorola H620 and found out the sound quality coming through the mic was much better. It was louder and clearer such that any notes I sent to Jott service was captured entirely and translated into text. The 230 worked if I spoke louder, clearly and more slowly. I used the same conditions, same words when dictating using both bluetooth devices and the motorola was definitely louder and more accurate. If your looking to spend $30 I definitely recommend spending $4 to $8 more and buying either the Motorola h560, h620, h680 models. I'm assuming they are similar to the H620 I purchased. On the plus side the Explorer 230 did fit well in my ear although even at max volume I can see times when it would be hard to hear. I like the 8 hour talk time with the voyager 230 but overall it just doesn't compete with the motorola. If you can find one for $15 and call volume (sending and hearing) is not super important to you then might work for you fine. Amazon... thanks for helping me make a good purchase via comments from others. cheers.

This is the 3rd Voyager pro headset that I have owned, and it by far is the best. The talk time is exceptional and the fact that it "talks" to you to tell you when muted or going low has saved me several times.

The soft phone concept is cool but to use this headset with you PC you have to make it your default audio device for mic and speakers. This means your regular speakers can't be used at the same time and switching involves control panel, sounds, reset default, etc. So you're not going to have time to do this when a call is coming in. If you leave your speakers selected as default (cuz you spent a lot of money on them and love to use them for music, etc.) you can still use this device as the mic only.... but then your callers hear themselves talking with you. Platronics tech support says you can adjust the volumes to minimize this but the mic is very sensitive and I've never been able to eliminate the caller side echo. End result is never business quality. So.... if you don't have a need for speakers or are willing to annoy all your callers then this item is just for you!

Let me start by saying I LOVE Plantronics products. Years ago when I used to sell electronics I would always push their products (I did not receive a commission) because they were far superior in sound quality than any other brand out there. I am the type of person who will spend extra money on something that works well as opposed to something cheap that is not up to the same level of quality. Here is my review of each aspect of the product:Size/Weight: First, this product is very very light weight. When I first took the headset out of the package and held it I thought it was "cheap" feeling because it was so light but after thinking about it for a moment I realized I would much rather have it feel light and cheap than heavy and weighing down my ear. Overall I am extremely happy with this aspect of the headset.Comfort: The weight of the product and the gel-ish inserts made the product fit comfortably in my ear. I wore the product for lengthy periods and never felt any significant level of discomfort. Overall I am impressed by the aspect of this headset.Style: First, I do not rock a fanny pack for a reason and in my opinion most Bluetooth headsets remind me of fanny packs and black socks with sandals. They are a fashion "oh heck no." However, this particular headset is a nice inconspicuous size. The gap between the two bars that make up the mouthpiece make the headset look better and less bulky. Additionally, the mouthpiece is fairly short and does not overtake your face as you talk. Overall, I am extremely happy with this aspect of the headset as I do not want to look like something out of a SciFi movie when chatting on the phone.Syncing with my Bluetooth device: I have never synced any Bluetooth device to my current cell phone. The process took under 30 seconds before they were paired together. The instructions were crystal clear and I did not need my phone's manual to figure anything out. This aspect of the headset worked amazing. And here's where it all went wrong...Sound Quality (Outgoing): Let me start by saying, yes, I did have the mouthpiece directed in the way indicated by the Plantronics manual. Also, my phone was sitting right next to me so this was not a matter of being too far away from my cell phone. I spoke to dozens of people on the headset over the course of five days, all of whom asked, "What was that? Could you repeat that? Huh? etc." Most of the time I would have to disconnect the headset and go "old-fashioned" by actually using my hands. When I needed to put the air conditioning on, it was impossible for the other party to hear me due to the wind noise so I had to shut my vents so I could be (somewhat)heard. Even when there was no background noise of any sort (music, airconditioning, passenger noise), the product failed in this area. Every person I spoke to complained. Overall, I would rate this aspect of the headset almost unusable.Sound Quality (Incoming): Everyone I spoke to sounded distant, unclear, and not loud enough to hear well (yes, ALL volumes were at the maximum level). Often I would try to shove the headset deeper in my ear hoping it would help, however, this would cause me to accidentally hit the "call end" button and hang up on the person I was speaking to. After two times of doing that I learned my lesson and just strained to hear the best I could. Overall, I would rate this aspect of the headset almost unusable. One star is the minimum Amazon lets a user rate a product. I gave the rating one extra star because, had the outgoing/incoming quality been excellent, there would be no better Bluetooth product on the market right now because of size, weight, comfort, style, and ease of syncing.

the sound quality is good both ways but the only thing that I'm not happy with is that when you put your phone in your pocket, it starts crackling a little bit and sometimes you have to hold your phone close to the unit or place the phone directly in front of you. Reception could be improved but its still a good unit. Good, sturdy design and better than some others. Ear Gel needs to be replaced every few months, I found that the small size fits me well and I don't have small ears. The small size allows me to stick it in my Ear like an in ear earphone. It picks up slight wind noise and the noise canceling is really not that great. Sounds good in the car as long as you have your windows rolled up. overall not bad and I use it everyday. it does the job and people don't even know I have it on.

I have always wanted a Bluetooth headset to use while I was playing video games or on the computer. Previously I would use wired headphones, but they would get tangled up and really not very comfortable to use due to the phone having to be fairly close to me. Even still I could not warrant paying even $50 for that small piece of convenience. However since my 4 year old cell phone's speaker no longer works and the headset sound is scratchy I needed an alternative since there is no phone out today that I really want to pay any kind of money for. I received this headset in the mail free of charge and I was very eager to see how good it worked. The headset comes an AC Charger and a USB charger to plug into your PC for added convenience. It even comes with a nifty looking carrying case to protect the headset when you don't need have the headset on your ear. Additionally you can actually charge the headset without taking it out of the carrying case. Finally, although I have seen better looking BT headsets this one still looks very good. It is the perfect size. The pairing process remarkably simple; all you have to do to pair is just hold down the button on the phone until the LED's flash blue and red. The next step is to simply go to your phone's Bluetooth menu and have it find the device. I had a small issue in my phone not being able to see the headset, but after I power cycled the phone and tried again, it finally found it.The sound quality of the headset is great. The person on the other end does kind of sound like he/she is in the bathroom but it is still clear and more importantly it's a BIG improvement over the scratchy distortion of my cell phone's built in headset. More importantly the person on the other end can hear me speaking clearly, there are no more conversations such as "Could you repeat that, you're breaking up", "You still there?" or even worse when I call someone from my cell phone..."Hello?, Hello?, Helloooo?". I hadn't had a cell phone conversation for over a month now because of my crappy phone, but now it's good knowing that IF I do need to call someone I can do so without having to use a landline or borrow my wife's cell.My only complaint about the headset is that I had quite a time getting the darn thing to fit in my ear properly. I was expecting something that would allow it to fit around the outside of the ear, like many other headsets but instead this headset comes with three "ear stabilizers", S, M, and L to fit inside the ear. I tried all three sizes and none of them seemed very stable. Out of the three, the Large was the most stable, relatively speaking of course. It does seem to be able to stay in my ear when I am sitting down, but I would never walk around with this on my ear unless it's in my own home or sitting at my desk at work; and I most certainly will not ride my bike with this on. It feels like it can fall out at any moment and because it doesn't feel like it's even there in the first place you won't even notice it's gone until its way too late; and this headset is way too expensive to even take that risk. I appreciate Plantronics trying to be innovative, but it really should be more secure.Honestly, had this not been free, I would not have gotten this (or any BT headset for that matter) at retail, but it is good for people that do talk on the cell phone a lot and need hands free talking. Just be sure that it is stable on your ear before you take this in public.

The search for the perfect Bluetooth headset is never-ending, it seems. In the last 3 years, I've gone through more brands and models than I care to think about. Now I've tried the Plantronics Discovery 925, and tell you with no hesitation that it is in the top two of those I have used. The Plantronics Discovery 925 is more an earpiece than a headset, with an earbud that fits inside the ear with surprising comfort, rather than an earloop that hangs over the ear. This means that it is much more comfortable to wear with eyeglasses and/or sunglasses. Indeed it is so comfortable that I sometimes forget I am wearing it.Pairing the device is a snap, and while my old Jabra headset frequently lost its pairing (weekly at least), the Plantronics Discovery 925 has not yet.The sound quality is tremendous. Audio is crystal clear from both my side and on the caller's side, if my friends and family are to be believed. LOLPlantronics touts this headset as having great noise reduction technology, and I will say that it is better in the noise reduction arena than all but one of the headsets I've tried in the past. The only headset I have personally tried that surpasses the Plantronics Discovery 925 in noise reduction is the Jawbone headset. What I really love about the Discovery 925 is the charging options. This headset comes with both an AC charger cable and a USB charger cable. Not only that, it comes with a compact charging case. You can charge the headset either in the case or directly, using the same cables for each. The beauty of the case is that it charges alongside the headset when you have it plugged in to electrical power. Then when your headset's battery dies, you simply put the headset in the case to recharge on the go - WITHOUT connecting either the case or the headset to electrical current. I've purposely let the headset's charge completely drain and charged it with the case, and found it worked admirably. And to top it all off, the Plantronics Discovery 925 charges fully in just a couple of hours, whether via electrical current or the portable charge case. Now here is where I prove what a woman I can be. The last quality I want to point out is purely cosmetic - its appearance. This is by far the most attractive headset I've ever seen. It's design almost looks like a cufflink or tie clip. It is sleek, innocuous, and comes in three different colors: black, gold, and pink. Personally, I like the more unobtrusive black model myself, but for those who want a little bit livelier hue, the other options work too. Yeah, I know, the appearance is a pretty frivolous virtue, but as often as we wear these things nowadays, it is nice to find a Bluetooth headset that doesn't have to trade form for function. For the best in noise reduction, Jawbone's Bluetooth headset is the overall winner, but Plantronics Discovery 925 runs a very close second in this category. In all other categories, I would choose Plantronics as the number one headset.Phone used with: HP iPaq 6945 Unlocked Cell Phone with Wi-fi, GPS, MP3/Video Player, SD--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver)Most recent Headsets I've used:Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset - BlackAliph Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset- BlackJabra BT250v Bluetooth Headset with Vibrating Alert [Retail Packaged]Logitech Mobile Freedom Bluetooth HeadsetMotorola H300 Bluetooth Headset

I really like this little headset. I have been using Plantronics for years and won't use anything else. The rubber earpiece on my old Explorer 330 headset just fell apart after several years of use and I decided I wanted to buy a new Plantronics, but one with a simpler, less pointy shape. Now, I am not one for spending a lot of money on a headset or to try to make a fashion statement with one. I wanted something cheap and durable and I didn't want a headset that looked like it came from Mars or off the head of a Borg. The Explorer 233 fills my needs perfectly. Small, simple, functional, inexpensive. While this one does have a seperate volume control button, all other functions, such as on/off, voice dialing, last number redial, etc., are easily handled by the main control button. I bought mine at a warehouse store and paid only $29.99 for it, and it came packaged with a car charger to boot.Functionally, it's quite intuitive. The small, thin earloop is comfortable, and the sound has been quite good, both on my end and at the receiving end too. I mostly use my headset while I'm driving, so I'm not one who wears it 24/7. For the money, I've been completely satisfied with its performance.

It is small, lightweight and comfortable. I was worried that the earpieces won't fit as I have really small ear canals, but they do really well, and without the clip. I haven't used the clip, so cannot comment on it (CNET says it is uncomfortable). The battery lasts as claimed, about 3-3.5 hrs, and the AAA charger is really handy. Included is a USB adapter which I like a lot, but I usually charge it from the wall port. The build is nice, looks and feels sturdy, and the buttons are ergonomic. One multifunction button makes it easy to use, and I appreciate the lack of clutter. Pairing was very easy, and with multiple devices at the same time, which is very convenient. The one thing I wasn't so excited about was the noise reduction when driving. It is not so bad when you are listening (partly because the in-the-ear bud is snug within the ear canal), but people I talked to complained of a lot of noise when I called from within the car. That also makes voice dialing impossible. All in all, if you are not going to be using it a lot while driving, then it is not a bad buy. But if you are, then maybe look for devices with better noise reduction.

I bought this due to the law changing to hands free in my state. I am not a big fan of bluetooth but I saw the writing on the wall so I read the reviews and picked this one. I am glad I did! This was very very simple to set up and charged very quickly. It synced easily with my android phone. I like that it comes with various sizes ear buds so you can get the right fit. It stays securely on my ear and I never feel like it is flapping or going to fall off. When I make calls, the person I am calling says I sound like I am talking directly on the handset so I am pleased. I have not tried any of the voice command features yet so I cannot comment on those. Overall, I am pleased and would definitely recommend this headset!

The Plantronics Discovery 92 Bluetooth Headest is the first Bluetooth headset I have ever used before. While I like new gadgets and all I have never gotten a bluetooth headset before because the vast majority of them are just ugly looking. Also, I have always been somewhat worried about learning to use it and any difficulty using them.Boy was I surprised with this!First, what do you get in the package.1 - The Bluetooth headset2 - Three different sizes (s,m,l) of ear pieces3 - A super cool charging case4 - A AC charging adapter5 - A USB charging adapter6 - A very easy, and well written, instruction bookLets talk about the headset. It's tiny. It tips the scales at a whopping 8 grams. Yup, that's it. 8 grams. It's sleek looking and when in your ear you hardly know it's there. When I first saw this I had trouble figuring out how exactly this was going to stay in my ear. There is no piece that loops over your ear. Rather, the gel ear piece has a stabalizer bar that fits into your ear keeping it in place. I have read other reviews where people discuss having trouble keeping this in their ear and getting a proper fit. I found te fit to not be a problem at all. In fact, with the medium ear piece I found I could actually jog with this in my ear and not have it fal out. It is very comfortable and didn't irritate my ear at all.One of the things I was most worried about (even after reading the instruction book) was pairing the headset with my LG phone. I need not have worried at all. It was about as painless as it could be. In fact it took literally 20 seconds to complete the process. It was as simple as clicking a couple buttons on my phone and pushing the call button on the headset and done. How much simplier could that be!Call quality is very good. I can't say it's the best I have ever had because this is the first one I have ever used. What I Can say is that everone I talked to, none of them reported a notice differing from talking directly into the handset like normal. There are some reviews that talk about wind noise. I found a slight turn of the head to butress the wind eliminated that with no problem. Heck, I have had land line handsets have wind issues. With as small as the boom is on this, there is bound to be some wind noise but the head turn fixes that right up. Answering a call is as simple as reaching up aand tapping the side of the headset once. Hanging up a call is the same process. There is a small volume button (3 settings) on the side to help regulate the volume. I found the middle setting to be perfect. Is there anything wrong with this headset? Just one thing I could really think of. The set is charged by a mini-USB port on the top (if it's in your right ear) of the headset. My concern is that if I am using this outside in the element, there is no cap or plug to put in there to prevent a rain drop or other item from falling in there and possibly causing damage. I know this is a minor thing, but at the cost of this item, I think it's something that easily should have been included.Overall, I have to say my first experience with a bluetooth headset has been a smashing sucess! I simply love it. The travel/charging case is a very nice touch and soemthing that certainly makes this stand out. All in all a great product.

I've gone through a number of cheaper headsets over the past year and a half, but I have never regretted spending the $$$ on this Plantronics Discovery 655. After using it for conference calls, meetings, while in the car, and outside, it still has great sound quality and as good a noise canceling functionality as any comparably priced bluetooth headset on the market. I've found talk time to be OK (approx 3 hours), and parts like the ear loops and gels to be readily available from sellers here and on other sites. (I've only ever purchased one extra set of gels.) This unit gives you several options for charging and all work quickly (< 2 hrs). My only complaints would be that it seems to sometimes have trouble maintaining its connection to my Blackberry 8830 when I wear/carry the BB on the opposite side of my body from the headset, or when I get more than 10 - 15 feet from the BB. I have to admit, that it seems like there may be contributing factors (i.e. electrical interference), because there are times when the headset stays connected over surprising distances and even between floors in my office building, but I am in the habit of just assuming it will not stay connected if I'm more than 10 - 15 feet away so I rarely have difficulties. Otherwise, once I became comfortable with the loop and gels, it has been great. Now, all the above you can read in the other reviews here and on other sites, but here is what makes this review different...aside from the great sound quality and decent battery life, the big reason I love this headset is its durability. Once you get used to the ear gels and loop, you'll be hard pressed to accidentally break this headset. I've dropped it, stepped on it, sat on it, smashed it in my briefcase, found my 2 year old sucking on it... (Be careful to keep it away from your kids! Small parts like the gels can come off!) I've even left it in a pants or shirt pocket and run it through the washer at least twice in the last 18 months. All I had to do was let it dry out and charge it back up. (I seriously thought it was toast after the washer, but figured I'd try it to see if it still worked.) In conclusion, while I certainly wouldn't recommend trying to wash it with your laundry, this headset has survived where many others couldn't. It provides good sound quality and competitive noise canceling, with decent battery life. Other headsets may do better for certain features, but this is a very well rounded option for most users.

Overall a good buy. It is convenient to use, comes with three charging options that are also very convenient (including a usb cable that fits into a port on phone car charger), and so far seems to hold a charge for a long enough time even when in use. The unit would probably even stay put in my ear without the over-ear attachement, but I found that as I spoke and moved my jaw it was better to have the loop on. The different-sized attachments for the soft gel piece that actually goes into your ear is perfect for my hard-to-fit ears. The only negatives I've found are that the microphone seems to catch more wind noise than I had hoped, and sometimes it seemed to randomly cut out but there were other possible reasons for that problem. I would defnitely recommend it to others.

This is my fourth bluetooth headset, by far the most expensive one I've bought also, but it is now the best bluetooth I've experienced. Fit is perfect and also the sound is too.My first was a Motorola, always was a pain turning it on and off. Second the flip open and close Motorola one, but the signal was horrible.Third was the Jawbone, I liked it for a week but I noticed alot of flaws. The signal strength wasn't as great as I thought and the noise cancellation didn't really work. Alot of my callers still complained that they can hear people around me and also the wind noise was strong. I also didn't like how it couldn't fit in my ear and always kept moving around.Pairing also wasn't as easy, sometimes I'd have to go through the whole setup again on my iPhone 3G all over again to make it work again.Plantronics 925 was my last resort, and hopefully perfect one too, and boy how much I do love it.I received it and it was in such an elegant package. It came with three ear tips and the bluetooth was actually charged and ready to be used instantly. The charging case is so cool! Whenever I'm done using the bluetooth instead of stuffing it into my pocket I stuff it into the charging case and then put it in my pocket. My Jawbone ear loop always broke inside my pocket but no LOOPS on this headset, just fantastic. Now your wondering no ear loop means it'll be loose and come off your ears correct? WRONG!The gel piece that goes into your ear is such a snug feeling and its a tight fit. Meaning shake your head up and down and jump left and right while your at it, the Plantronics 925 will still feel nice and snugged inside your ear.Two great PLUS already, snug feeling with no loop, and also stuffing it into your pocket safe and soundly inside with the charging case. You practically have over 10+ hours of talk time thanks to the LEATHER charging case. While pairing with my iPhone 3G and Motorola phone, it was ease. I called someone on my iPhone, later received a phone call on my Motorola and it was easy. Click the earpiece once and it'll hang up on the person on the iPhone and instant answer the person on the Motorola phone. WOW, handling two phones will be so much easier now.The sound is excellent also. I'm in the car the volume is just perfect and I don't need to adjust the volume. While I'm in the library I can also hear the caller very clearly. The volume is always at a perfect tone thanks to the Audio IQ technology.Plantronics has just gotten another +2 plus into their headset. Finally the cons I have just one,They have noise cancellation, but it isn't on par with the Jawbone though. The plantronics 925 is a great bluetooth after all the bluetooth I've been with. By far the best I've used ever in my life.I've tried the Jawbone and it wasn't as great as I thought, but the 925 has been outstanding since the day I've bought it. I have no other complaints and I hope you purchase a 925 after you've read this review.

I have tried a few different bluetooth headsets, always looking for the Perfect Trifecta of (in order of importance): 1) great audio transmission quality in loud environments, 2) great audio reception (i.e. loud enough, no clicks or pops), and 3) comfort. The Plantronics 510 scores 5 stars for comfort, 5 stars for audio reception, but only 4 stars for audio transmission. To be fair, today's bluetooth headsets will never be as clear as the handset itself, or a wired headset, because bluetooth headsets sample at 8 KHz (i.e. 8,000 audio samples per second), while wired headsets and phones sample at 16 KHz (16,000 audio samples per second). That is why today's bluetooth headsets will always sound just a bit muffled. That said, as far as bluetooth goes, the Plantronics 510 does quite well -- but it has problems. I use it with my BlackBerry 8700. In a quiet environment, such as indoors or in a car with the windows up, audio transmission will be very clear. The boom mic brings the microphone closer to your mouth than do those tiny in-ear headsets, where the microphone is all the way up at your ear. (The microphone is about 3 inches from my mouth, compared to in-ear microphones, which are about 6 inches away.) The closer distance leads to a better, louder sound. However, in a noisy environment, everyone I've talked to finds it somewhat difficult to hear me because the sensitive microphone will pick up a lot of background noise. People have complained that they can hear the beeping of the checkout counter, or all the people chatting at Starbucks, or all the traffic noise, and it's hard to focus on what I'm saying. When I then disconnect the headset and talk directly into the phone, they all say, "That's much better!" That said, at least people can make out what I'm saying in a loud environment with this headset; with other bluetooth headsets I've used (e.g. the Motorola HS-820), loud environments render my relatively soft voice completely unintelligible.Audio reception is great when you're close to the phone; after about 5-10 feet away, you start to get clicks and pops. (Also, there are a fair number of clicks if I use the headset in my right ear while keeping the BlackBerry in my left pocket; my phone and headset need to be on the same side of my body, it seems, for the clearest sound.) The headset is very loud, and I usually listen to callers at about half-volume.In terms of comfort, Plantronics provides three styles of earbuds: small, medium, and a triangle-shaped larger one. After trying them all, I prefer the medium-sized bud -- I can keep the headset in my ear for over an hour without any discomfort, and sometimes I forget i am wearing it. Admittedly, it took me a while to figure out how to put in on with one hand, but I soon got the hang of it. It now takes me no more than 2 seconds to put it on. (Hint: Hold the earbud/boom-mic section with your thumb and middle finger, and lift the bulky back section up with your forefinger. Place the earbud in your ear, and then remove your forefinger and let the back section naturally fall back behind your ear. It sounds more complicated than it is, but it takes some getting used to.)I used to complain about the small power button, but then I realized that it's extremely easy to press down once the headset is on your ear. Contrary to popular belief, it is NOT a rocker switch; it presses down, but if you try to power on or off while not wearing the headset, it is tricky to find the right angle at which it needs to be pressed. So, bottom line: This is the best bluetooth headset I have ever used. When I am taking business calls at home and I want to sound as clear as possible, I either talk directly into the headset or use a wired headset with a boom microphone located 1-2 inches from my mouth -- but as far as bluetooth headsets go, the Plantronics 510 is extremely convenient for use when walking about town, or driving. I am giving it four stars because it isn't PERFECT (and I only give five-star ratings for perfection). That said, I will continue to use it as my daily headset until the coming of the Perfect Trifecta of audio transmission, audio reception, and comfort -- which almost certainly will be achieved by Plantronics.

I have not had great experiences so far with bluetooth headsets and my Tilt phone. It pairs great with the handfree in my car, but the sound quality and noise is so bad, it's pretty much unusable. I had also tried using it with a handsfree stereo headset from Sony and had major pairing issues with that. So was a little unsure about trying this but really wanted something better particularly to use in the car.Pairing with this was a breeze. My phone had no problem detecting it and I've yet to have a problem with them finding each other when I turn BT on and off on the phone. The sound quality of this headset really blew me away. Callers on the other end said they really would not have guessed I was using a headset at all, it doesn't have near the "tunnel" sound that many headsets do. In the car as well, background noise was quite adequately filtered out.Feature wise it has a few nice touches. Double click the call button to repeat a call, hold it for a couple seconds to place a call with voice dial (if your phone supports it), or hold it during a call to transfer the call to the phone. It also supports pairing with two phones which could be handy for some people. There's no mute button and the volume button is a little hard to find though. I had no problem using it with the voice dialing on my phone so far which is certainly much appreciated with phones like the Tilt that are not particularly easy to dial from. The charging case is a great feature as well, it's compact and reasonably light for something that has an internal battery. The case is well padded and closes magnetically, providing excellent protection for the headset. Removing the phone from the case is a tad tricky at first, but easier with practice.I really only have one complaint with it and that is the fit. I will admit, I have very small ears and any in-ear device is prone to give me problems, particularly if it is not entirely soft plastic (as many good music headsets these days are). And indeed even the smallest eartip on this is still very tight and somewhat uncomfortable in my ear. I've certainly had worse, and it's not so bad as to be a deal-breaker for me. But I also don't do more than a few calls on my cell a week, so am not using it extensively. If I did, this would be a bigger issue for me. As it is, I just have a sore ear for a little while after using it. I still prefer the small size and very stable design versus ones that go over the ear (which are problematic for me as well since I wear glasses). One final kudo for Plantronics...as an environmentally conscious consumer, I was happy to see that the plastic sleeve this came in uses recyclable plastic. I'm always happy to support companies that are doing their part (and don't give me annoyingly difficult packaging to open as well!)

The ear piece always pops off when I put the ear hook on. I had to send the first one back because it wouldn't turn off. I have the replacement, and still have the ear hook issue, and it doesn't stay in my ear without it. I'll be buying another bluetooth, but this will do for the time between ordering.

I bought this bluetooth headset to use with Skype (in my PC) and with my iPhone (1G).It was a great surprise when I discovered I could listen to all audio from my PC: internet radio/news, audio from youtube videos, and even mp3 like a mono A2DP stream. Obviously the quality isn't like a stereo wired headphone, but for listening to news and radio from the internet (that normally is a low bitrate audio) this headset is very good. For that I needed to activate a secondary service in the bluetooth settings for this device (called "Audio Gateway Service"). The "Headset Service" was already activated by default. Both services (or profiles) stay active at the same time, there's no need to switch between them. Also I had to configure my default sound speaker in control panel to point to this "Audio Gateway". Now I listen to all audio form my PC in my headset!I'm using the Anycom USB 250 adapter. One other thing that I really like is the variety of chargers you receive.. wall charger, usb cable charger and standard AAA-battery charger.

I have tried oh so many bluetooth headsets (various ones by Motorola, Sony, Plantronics, the nXZEN 5500, and the Jawbone). All have had significant usability issues. Most were completely unusable in moderate wind and most were not loud enough to properly receive calls on the streets of Manhattan. Only the nXZEN and Jawbone had DSP processing sufficient to block out most street noise, but the DSP wasn't so effective in moderate to strong wind. Plus the nXZEN had relatively lousy audio quality on the receiving end of things, so it was often difficult to understand callers. At last I have found a usable headset, the Voyager 510. The audio quality of this headset on the user end of things is absolutely phenomenal. It is several magnitudes louder than any other bluetooth headset I have tried. I have good hearing so I don't expect a headset to be super loud, but most bluetooth headsets are so low that conversation from a caller can almost be unintelligible. This Plantronics headset produces clear, loud, largely static free sound. The headset also transmits audio extremely well. I spoke to several people on the streets of Manhattan and they couldn't tell I was even on a headset. I also left several voicemails for myself and the audio quality was quite good. Moderate wind is not a problem for this headset at all. However, I don't believe that this headset employs the same type of DSP as the the nXZEN or Jawbone, so if you are on a noisy street the person you are talking to may hear the background noise. However, even with back ground noise you will be reasonably easy to understand---the headset just doesn't actually block the noise as much as one that uses DSP as much as the nXZEN or Jawbone does. There are a few small drawbacks. As others have noted, the headset is larger than many out there. But it is EXTREMELY light and VERY easy/comfortable to wear. It easily fits in my pocket. I certainly prefer a headset that works well to one that doesn't work but is smaller. One other minor drawback that not too many people have noted is that the headset does not support call waiting. I find that to be a strange omission from an otherwise excellent headset. You can still use call waiting while on the headset. But you must switch between calls by using the phone, not by using a button on the headset. The headset may not be so reliable either. My first one simply stopped working after a year and I had to purchase a second one.The bottom line is that this is the best bluetooth headset I have ever used. It really works as advertised and provides a user with an easy way to make handsfree calls. Plantronics likes to advertise its long heritage of making quality headsets and frankly I am often put off by such marketing hype--but in this case, Plantronics wisely chose to release a headset that lives up to its history/marketing. I hope its next model is even better, but thank goodness Plantronics released a product that works in a crowded field full of largely half-baked products.Update As of December 19, 2007Since I originally wrote the review above, I have also tried the Jawbone headset that many people rave about. The Jawbone is quite effective at blocking ambient noise. If you regularly use your headset in a really noisy office or restaurant or with the radio on in your car, then the Jawbone may be a better choice than this one. But the Jawbone is largely ineffective at blocking out wind noise whereas the Voyager 510 is still the champ in that regard. The Voyager 510 is still the choice for me due to its ability to largely block wind noise since I make most of my calls walking along the streets of Manhattan. Also, the Jawbone is not very comfortable at all and it is very hard to get it to fit well in my ear and on my face.I should note that I had to purchase a new Voyager 510 after about a year since the first one just stopped working for no apparent reason. The new one works just as well as the old one, but the Voyager 510 may not have the best long term reliability.Update as of May 21, 2008In my opinion, the Voyager 510 has finally been dethroned as the king of bluetooth headsets by the New Jawbone. I just pourchased the New Jawbone and I have tested it in extremely windy conditions near the water on the the streets of Manhattan. I made several test calls to friends and to voicemail. The New Jawbone seems to block wind noise approximately as well as the Voyager 510 and beats it in terms of blocking out other sound. The New Jawbone is also 1/3 the size of the Voyager 510 and much lighter. Of course the New Jawbone also costs 3 times as much as the Voyager 510. Audio quality on the user end is still slightly better with the Voyager 510, but only very slightly. Please note that I am referring to the New Jawbone (which was released less than a week ago). The old Jawbone had fit, wind noise, and audio quality issues that made it inferior, in my opinion, to the Voyager 510.

The Plantronics Discovery 925 looks great. It has a stylish design that very much sets it apart from other bluetooth headsets. And it is this style that you're paying for. Don't get me wrong, that's not a strike against it. There's no reason that something as prominent as a product sticking to the side of your head shouldn't pay attention to form as well as function. It looks like a fashion accessory. And it gets compliments. Not only does it look good, it fits great. I was a little wary at first about it, whether it would be okay just lodged in my ear. After a little jumping and jogging test it became clear this thing is well designed to stay put, as well as any other headset. It's quite light and decently comfortable. The controls are surprisingly easy. Surprising because I either kept expecting there to be more to what I wanted done, or at first assumed that what I was wanting to do wasn't an option. The manual became my friend at this point, not in telling me a complicated procedure but in reassuring me that doing what I wanted to do, whether change a setting or manage my calls, was just as easy as it seemed. There are two buttons. The main button, on the outside, adapts to the context, whether on or off a call, and the length you press it. It also flashes red or blue, each duration, blink, and color a message of some kind (and this can be turned off if you want). The other button is volume. Three volumes, though I found the loudest setting to be the best, even though I have perfect hearing. The sound quality isn't particularly far and away above other, more affordable, headsets. Most of the people I talked to didn't know I was using a headset and I've been told the sound is very solid. However, the 925 does pick up wind noise and it also picks up other kinds of background noises a little too much. I tried talking while I was cooking one evening and had to stop cooking because the person I was talking with said the random water, bag opening, preparing noises were as loud as my voice and quite distracting. But even with those minor irritations, I still very much like my 925. The charger case is a great and useful idea making this very much a worthwhile purchase for being on the move, whether out and about or in the car. It looks good and while not perfect in noisy settings, it really does sound great.Worth a purchase, especially if you want something that looks great and you need a little more time away from a charger.

PRO: Inserts directly into the ear without plugging into the ear canal itself, so it's great for eyeglass wearers since there is no "around the ear" loop to interfere with eyewear.PRO: It's literally so lightweight that I often forget it's even in my ear at all. Will not fall out, regardless of how you angle or shake your head.PRO: People at the other end of the call report good quality sound, doesn't seem to pick up on ambient noise too much.CON: Extended wear has caused my inner ear to become sore. I have tried a smaller eargel, but it's too loose. The large eargel is comfortably snug in my ear, but after a few hours (I'm on the phone all day long), my inner ear becomes painful and I have to remove the 925. Although the pressure from the gel is required for it to stay in the ear, it is just enough pressure to cause sensitivity and pain after about 4 to 6 hours of continuous wear. If you only need to wear it for less than 4 hours at a time, this unit is good.CON: Volume not as loud as I would prefer, even at the highest setting. I have no hearing problems, but even in moderately noisy environments, I constantly have to push the unit deeper into my ear canal to hear. In a loud environment, I can hardly hear anything the other person is saying. I'd like this unit to have a higher volume level. Great in a quiet setting, but not so great in noisy settings.CON: Battery dies after about 4 hours, requiring it to be recharged. This is a real problem for me since I am on the phone all day. I would almost need two of these to have one charging while the other one is being used.CON: Does not filter out wind when outdoors. Even slight wind seriously impairs the other person's ability to hear me on the other end of the call. I suppose this is a problem with nearly all earpieces, and this one is no exception. In summary, I rate it "okay". Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain too loudly about either. I'm returning mine after having tried it for 30 days. I'm on the hunt for another unit.

I purchased a lanyard to keep my plantronics around my neck so I can quickly fit it into my ear when a call comes through. I was disappointed when it arrived as the method that plantronics chose to secure the lanyard to the ear piece was a "plug-in" to the receptacle used to charge the earpiece. It has fallen off of the lanyard several times and I was lucky I did not lose the earpiece. The reason that I bought the lanyard was that I had lost a couple of blue tooth ear pieces due to the fact that you have to put them in your pocket (shirt, pants...wherever) and thought this would be a great solution. I have since found a lanyard that came with a thumb drive that has a sturdy nylon thread that I wrapped around the earpiece stem on the plantronics using a slip knot. This is a much more secure method and makes it virtually impossible for it to come off.

Note that you do not have to disconnect from the lanyard to take a call.

Through Amazon's Vine program, I recently received a review unit of the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset. Never having used (or had to use) a hands-free headset, I was interested to see how easy it would be to interface to my iPhone. Overall, I'm impressed with the unit for ease of use as well as ease of interface. But I'm still not completely comfortable with the unit just sitting in my ear. I keep expecting it to fall out at any time. After a couple hours of charging via the USB power cord, I turned it on with a quick push of the earpiece. Then with my iPhone, I switched into Bluetooth discovery mode and instantly found the Plantronics device. I entered the password of 0000 to complete the pairing, and I was off and running. The iPhone automatically threw control over to the headset for incoming calls, and tapping the headpiece control button brought up the keypad for dialing. As a test of the sound quality, I dial the Jott message service and left myself a short message with a bit of background noise. Jott was able to properly use its speech recognition to decipher the message and send it to me via email. In terms of hearing, it was actually better than having the iPhone plastered against the side of my head. If I were going to be on a call for any length of time using my iPhone, I'd definitely want to be using the Plantronics headset. The only drawback is the way it fits in the ear. I'm used to seeing headsets that clip over the ear, so I was curious as to how snug this would feel with it just sitting there without external support. I had to switch from the medium size clear plastic gel tip to the large size, as medium definitely felt like it was falling out. Even with the large, it was hard to trust that it would stay there. If you had too much head motion, I'm not sure how the grip would hold. This is probably one of those things that just takes some getting used to. I'll have to see how it works out over time.Would this replace my iPhone earbuds at $150? Probably not. I'm not that tethered to my cell phone. But if you spend time in the car where it's illegal (or should be) to be holding a cell phone while driving, this would be an ideal way to stay reachable without worrying about wires getting in your way...

Yes, shipping is more than the item, but who cares? It is a truly dumb item that is wonderfully useful. I wear the lanyard around my neck with the earpiece as a pendant. The Plantronics 925 bluetooth earpiece doesn't fall off the lanyard, and the lanyard keeps the earpiece close by for when you want ready access (when the phone is on automatic answer and linked to the earpiece) but don't want it in your ear all the time. The lanyard also keeps the 925 from damage when you don't want to lug (hah!) the extraordinarily small, lightweight and beautiful recharging case around (walking to the gym without enough pockets). This lanyard has multiplied my enjoyment of the already spectacular Plantronics Discovery 925 earpiece.

Finally a blue-tooth earpiece I can use while wearing glasses. The unit stays in your ear by means of a plastic tab that fits under the ridge at the top of your ear so that you don't have to put anything into your ear canal or over your ear. And it stays put! You have to rotate it around a bit to find the most comfortable angle, but once you get it, it's easy to duplicate and it never feels like the headset is going to come out.The piece itself is quite small. I have long hair and most of the time you can't even tell I'm wearing it (the headset that is, not my hair). When you can see it, it's very Captain Jack Harkness (a Torchwood reference for those of you who don't watch the show), not quite futuristic but very modern and as minimalist as you can get with today's technology. It's so small that I had to start carrying the included charging case to keep it from getting lost in my purse and possibly damaged. The case is very small and stylish and, best of all, recharges the earpiece when the battery in it runs out, as long as you have charged the carrying case. Both USB and AC cables are included for charging the phone and carrying case. The basic functions of the headset are easy to use, although since there is only one fuction button (along with a tiny volume button), it takes some getting used to -- you have to press it for 4 seconds to turn it on and off, tap once to answer the phone, tap twice to send a call to voicemail, 2 seconds for voice dialing, etc. If you're wearing the earpiece the fuctions are indicated by a series of tones and if you're looking at it by flashing lights. It's all a bit confusing at the beginning and you have to get the hang of it, but it works. Sound is quite good (much, much better than speakerphone or other headsets I've used), both for the wearer and the person at the other end of the line, at least with AT&T service in Los Angeles, and the voice dialing feature worked flawlessly with a Motorola phone.I guess whether the headset is worth the price depends on how much you use your headset, whether looks matter to you, and whether you need an earpiece that doesn't hook over the ear. For glasses wearers who need to use their headset while driving or whatever, I'd say it's worth every penny.

Instead of in the ear, it sits on, or slightly above the ear opening. The comfort grip gel earpieces that come in 3 sizes, allows the larger ear opening to hold the earpiece. It's hard to describe, but the cup of the ear holds it, enabling the speaker to sit on the ear opening (hole) rather than in it. This is important to know because I feel pain/discomfort after awhile with anything like an iPod ear bud that sits in the actual opening of my ear. This is a great improvement over that. The sound quality is great. If I had to get critical, I would say even though it blocks unwanted background noise, it is sensitive to wind noise.I was impressed with the dual indicators for on and off; both red & blue lights that flash when changing the on/off mode, and unique tone signals are provided for when wearing it and you can't see the diamond shaped button.I hooked it up to a Palm TREO 700P. Setting the 925 to pairing mode, and syncing it took less than 30 seconds. Before writing this review I wanted to get a good idea of the sound quality on both ends. So I ran a series of tests, with my brothers assistance, using the 925 with the Palm Treo calling my home phone using a quality Panasonic cordless. Outside with a strong cell phone signal, the 925 was indiscernible from a land line phone, and even when moving indoors, where I sometimes have trouble getting a call signal at all, although a little quieter, the sound quality was still excellent. The range is perfect up to 30 feet, from 30 to 33 it starts to break up a little and at 33 and above the signal disappears, but walking back into range, fixes that without losing the call.I was surprised that Plantronics could create such a clear signal out of such a small earpiece. The sound getting from your mouth to back around to something so close to your ear, with that kind of clarity is quite an achievement. The 925 is so small it is barely on the side of your face at all. That is what makes it so remarkable. This is a new entry from Plantronics, utilizing the latest technologies from the business professional headset leader for probably a couple of decades now. Other than a little wind noise, there wasn't anything I didn't like about it. Highly recommended.

UPDATE January 2009/ My Voyager 510 seems to be unbreakable - after about three years of constant use and abuse, this headset survived the ultimate challenge - full washer and dryer cycle in my shirt pocket! My wife found it after the fact when she was folding dry clothes. It had both red and blue LED on and we thought it died. Next day after the lights disappeared, I tried charging it and it was showing the flashing blue light like it was connected but it wouldn't react to anything or show any signs of life. Not knowing it was in a "coma" and thinking it was dead, I bought the new Discovery 925 set. Two weeks later, after returning from vacation I was ready to throw away the good old "mule", but I tried it one more time just for the heck of it, because of my great experience and confidence in Plantronics products. Before charging it I sprayed a little bit of WD-40 on the power/mute, volume and call buttons, jiggled them a bit, wiped it off and charged it again. This time everything worked and I was able to pair it with my phone and a week later, this old faithful, one-in-a-thousand Plantronics headset still works as good as new, and it seems it might give me a few more years of service. Amazing! /UPDATEUPDATE June 3, 2007/ I recently received a Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset and expected it to be the Holy Grail of bluetooth headsets, but in spite of its great fashionable and light design and state of the art electronics, its sound quality is one class below this headset. Plantronics Voyager 510 is still the best/UPDATEI have owned or tried several supposedly great Bluetooth sets with several different phones, including some Blackberries, Motorola Razr and L6, and here's why I got to appreciate this somewhat clumsy set so much:1. Good output volume and quality. When I'm using Plantronics Voyager 510, people I'm talking to cannot tell I'm on a Bluetooth headset - not even when I'm driving. The case was the opposite when I was using Jabra BT250 and BT500, when I used to hear complaints about noise, static and low volume of my voice.2. Good and controllable earphone volume. It can reasonably well deal with traffic noise when I'm walking outside my downtown Chicago office. I can set the volume really loud, so the only case when I cannot hear my partner is when I'm walking too close to a moving train. My usual volume setting is around 1/3.3. This set's microphone tolerates wind so much better than the Jabras mentioned above which used to produce a great deal of wind noise whenever I was encountering a breeze. In addition, if I know I'll be outside in a windy environment I can put the included microphone sponge on.4. Good battery life. I don't have to charge it often.5. Although it seems very light and gentle in my hands, it handles everyday folding and switching between my shirt pocket and both my ears very well.6. No problems with long usage, unlike Jabra BT250, which used to irritate the skin on the back of my ear if I used it too long or too often. The only reason why I didn't initially give this set 5 stars is the somewhat clumsy power/mute button position. Years later, after getting familiar with many other competing products and learning how durable this headset is, I think it deserves 5 stars. Too bad I can't change it.I never heard about Plantronics before buying this headset and I grew to appreciate it a lot more after a year of usage. Only recently I discovered that Plantronics has a long history with headsets and that even the Apollo missions used their headsets on the Moon. Makes sense. "One small set for man, one giant leap away from other BT headset manufacturers. Houston, we have no problem".

Великолепно

Because reading the reviews of other Voyager 510 owners was very helpful in making my decision, here is yet one more, with hopes I can pass the favor on.The Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset by Plantronics does what it says, i.e., your hands are free to do anything else while you make a cell phone call...type, drive, take notes, eat a sandwich, or whatever you like doing while you're on the phone. That being said, they all do that. The best part about this one is that I can hear the other person literally loud and clear, better than via my phone itself. (Mine is a Motorola KRZR.) If that were the only feature, I would still buy this earpiece. The sound is that good. It's because, I think, the earpiece fits on the ear canal, not across the pinna, as others appear to do. Hearing is an important fact to keep in mind when buying an earpiece, wouldn't you say?True, as others have said, the on/off button is small and a wee bit awkward. But that's not worth taking off from this review. Think about it. You turn it on in the morning and off at night. It's not one of your frequently used functional buttons. The same goes for the volume buttons. They are a bit small, thus a bit awkward. It takes some push to use the on/off button, however, so working the volume toggle probably won't result in your turning your headset off accidentally. Again, once these are set you are not likely to change them. I find the volume I'm comfortable with and stick with it.The call control button is your real gearshift. It's easy to find, sitting directly over the ear piece, the center point of the unit. There is no magic to pushing it. That is, you don't have to do anything but push it...once to answer a call, once to end a call, press and hold to initiate voice dialing, press and hold to send a call you don't want to answer straight to your voice mail, or press twice to call the last number called. (Somehow its being able to remember and call the last number is intriguing).Speaking of voice dialing, next to good sound this is my favorite feature. It still fascinates me to push a button, speak a command, and complete a call to someone, all the time with my Motorola KRZR folded up and in my belt case. It's an amazing technology. If you're not careful, you can lose yourself in conversation and therefore lose mental control of your driving. On the other hand, your eyes remain forward, and you are not fumbling with flipping open your phone and fishing out numbers to push. Just be careful out there.Sound is good both ways. Those I call say they can hear me fine. I am able to test it when I dictate notes on the run, as my service allows me to replay short bits of my dictation. They sound as good as on any land line, proving good transmission.Plantronics customer service has a recorded receptionist with the most hypnotic voice I have ever heard. That makes calling them a treat. I had called looking for an automobile charger for the headset. They gave me the number for Sun Communications, who apparently are distributors for Plantronics here in the South. The clerk at Sun Communications was not very helpful. She wanted my name and phone number before she even heard what I wanted. These days, information seekers like that are not very comforting. She seemed miffed when I refused to tell her. Whatever. I went right to my question about the automobile charger. It's called a lighter adapter, and it was not in stock. It would take 10 days to order one. She would not tell me any retailers who might carry it. Just so you know, it is part no. 69520-01, per Plantronics. Not finding a lighter adapter is probably my biggest complaint about the Plantronics Voyager 510. I have one for my phone, to save me when I'm on the road and my phone battery runs down. It stands to reason that I would want one for my headset, too. The search continues.Otherwise, using this earpiece is a delight. I wear glasses, and there is no competition between my glasses and the Voyager 510. It rides well on my ear, with no wiggle at all.I could go on, but the major points are covered here. I hope this helps you make a decision.
