I've had my set for about 6 months now, and I love it. Like most reviewers here I will say that it is slightly annoying that you cannot use and charge the headset at the same time. My battery has not stopped holding a charge but I do believe it is possible to replace the battery with a little soldering when it finally does die out. The battery is located under the right ear speaker and looks like a cell phone battery(3.7V, 500mAh). A local Batteries Plus([....]) should be able to figure out what battery is used easily. The sound quality is pretty good for being wireless, its low end is a bit high but you can EQ your computer around to fix it. Also there are a few times while I am right next to my computer the sound distorts for a second or two but that may be because my home phone and my wireless router are both 2.4GhZ wireless as well, there may be some crossing signals now and again. The closed ear design is pretty comfortable to wear in short sessions but can get a little tight after 4 or 5 hours also not having contacts and wearing glasses doesn't help the earpiece from my glasses gets squeezed between my ear and my head. The microphone is of a pretty good quality even now I am sitting two feet from an air conditioner(on high) listening to the microphone and can only hear a very faint hum. The range is pretty good about 30 feet in my house(keep in mind that the signal travels through two walls at 30 feet) which is enough to get to my kitchen, pantry and even my bathroom(I know TMI). The controls on the left speaker are a pretty cool feature, while washing dishes or cooking dinner I can leave iTunes running on shuffle and still have control over the volume and(albeit limited) song played. Set up for the whole thing is a complete breeze, the only thing you may have to do after plugging it in is tell windows that these are your default speakers. My only complaints are the fact that it cannot be used while being charged, there is no sort of audible low battery alert so when its time to charge the headset just turns off(the led does blink red however but you can't know this while wearing the headset), and the dongle that comes with it is slightly lager that I thought, it sticks about 2 inches out of my laptop, it's probably my own paranoia but I am afraid I may break it one day while setting my laptop down in a confined space. All around the construction feel pretty solid and they are pretty lightweight, they feel about as heavy as any other headset I've worn. In my opinion these are a pretty solid headset for general use and inexpensive for being wireless too. I use mine for gaming(with voice), music, and movies and that's all I need them to do.

This headset is really awesome. I work from home permanently so I need a really good headset that will give off a good vibe because I am on the phone all day with clients and want them to be able to hear me without any background noise and static. I have not had one complaint since I've started using this headset since I started using it. I love it and it has good range and I can walk around when on calls without anyone noticing. I wish it had a mute button instead of having to lift the mic up, but I can live without that. I also wish that I had known that when the battery dies you have to replace the headset completely. That's kind of a bummer. But still not enough to make me "like it". I do love it and hope the battery lasts at least a year or two. Definitely a step up from my Logitech wired headset which I still have as a back up.

Bought two of these about two years ago from Amazon, both are dead now due to the battery not holding charge.Generally speaking, the sound quality is ok, but far from "good". It gets really bad when you watch movie where the sound become "twisted" every once in a while.But I didn't use it to watch movie that much, so I kept them. But a few month later, the battery life started to drop significantly. So every time I want to use it, I found it out of battery. Worst yet, you cannot use it while it is charging. So I basically left them on shelf and only managed to use them less than 10-15 times in total in 2 years. Yesterday I tried to use them again after having charged them for 24 hours. They lasted for about 10 minutes ..... --- That's it!I thought of changing its battery, so I opened the headset, and found out it's use 500MA 3.7V battery pack with 3 wires. I'm not sure what that 3rd wire is. All what I can find are similar 2-wire batteries on ebay. But I cannot find any 3 wire ones. So they are officially non-repairable.My conclusion --- I would not buy it again.

Being off a wire is a real convenience. Range is good. I use this with Dragon speech recognition software which tests and has rejected headsets before it it will use them. This one passed.My only caution is that the USB cable to charge the headset could be longer - it is about 1.5 feet. It also requires 2 free USB ports for convenient use, although you could use only one if you are willing to pull the USB receiver while charging and then replace it.You can't use it while it is charging (even with two USB ports) but a full charge only takes 3 hours and they say it lasts 8 hours. I just make a point of plugging it in before sleep and using the switch on the headset to turn if off when leaving for a lengthy period during the day. I get through a day on just the overnight charge.

I bought these because I was tired of my corded headsets always tearing up in the corded part. This set is great for sound quality. The battery life is also good. I've used them up to 8 hours straight and they still had a charge left. The wireless range varies, but i can usually walk 20 feet from my computer before I start to lose reception. The 2 things I would change would be to add a battery life indicator and make the padding size of the ear pads larger and softer. I have small ears and the pads on there begin to hurt after extended wear. Otherwise, this was a great purchase and I do recommend this product.

As a wireless headset, the quality of sound is excellent, for both microphone and headphone. The wireless connection is reliable for an office area of about 1000 sqf, unless there is a furniture or wall interrupting the line of sight. (I use it for skype on MacPro.) If you are using the headset for regular business, say up to 4 or 5 hours per day, this product is probably near perfect.However, there are a couple of negatives.The headphone pads are small, and they press down the ear. This is not as comfortable as large supraural headphones, if you use it for hours.The battery empties easily, and I probably get 6-8 hours of use per full charge. I want the battery to last 24-30 hours of use per single charge.The headset does not function while it is connected via USB for charging. This is regardless of whether it is connected to a computer or a charger. (When I was using a USB headset with a long USB extension cable (with a built-in amplifier), I never had to worry about battery running out.)The microphone easily picks up wind noise, and it is loud compared to some other headsets. In an office environment, if you have a ventilation port or a fan nearby blowing wind near you, or if you use it near an open window a lot, your recording signal is probably badly corrupted by the wind noise. Try some other headsets and microphone for comparison. There's a big difference.

As a rule i'll only use headsets. Around here a lot of people don't like my music, don't want to hear loud explosions, hear another movie going, hear cursing from online gaming, you get the idea. I never treated my wired headsets badly, but they always seemed to fail at the cord / earphone connection and i'd lose sound in one ear. I sometimes lost the microphone too. The longest i had a pair was 7 months before it recently failed. For people who run into this problem a lot, or just want a little walk around freedom, this headset is made just for you.Let's get on to the important stuff:Sound Quality - 4.5/5I honestly used an onboard sound card before this headset. i never had a reason to put a new one in because short of surround sound there really wasn't any improvement room. Same goes for this nifty little device. The sound quality is just as good or better as most onboard soundcards. as long as you're near it, no stuttering, no lack of bass, nothing. You can't tell this is a wireless version. The only thing i've run into, once, was for a couple seconds i got random garbled noises, and then it fixed itself. Wasn't any louder than what i was listening to, so no ear hurting problems.Connectivity - 4.5/5Now, this is where the headset really excels. Installing it and connecting it is so easy. Simply plug in the USB wireless adapter, and voila it has installed itself in a few seconds. Now you should see the USB part blinking. Push the power button on the back left ear, now it should blink blue once or twice, then they both should turn solid. Voila! it's connected and ready to go. Now, the only major issue here that you need to note that another reviewer said: If you're listening to music or doing something that involves sound, you'll need to close it and open it again. I suspect it is because it has to rework the soundcard output, but no matter, it's not a big deal. Now, i've gone about 20-30 feet and still heard sound. i've also been 15-20 feet behind a wall and fridge and still heard sound so, it's not bad for relatively new technology. When you lose sound, you get a faint beeping noise letting you know it's trying to reconnect.Battery Life - 5/5When i first used it out of the box without charging it, it lasted about an hour. Enough time for me to play with it and see how well it worked. As the battery runs low, you don't get any warning signs. Sound quality just before it shuts off is just as good as when you started. After the brief play period, i plugged it in to charge using the USB charging cable that comes with it. (Note, you cannot use the headset while it is charging. it seems to have a charge state and a run state and will flicker in and out of both resulting in hearing something for a second, and then 3-4 seconds of silence. Sounds annoying, but unless you are going to use it constantly, it isn't a big issue. After a full charge, this baby can go for 7-8 hours minimum. I went to bed before i could find out how much of a charge it had left. A nice feature: Most USB devices shut off or won't charge when the computer is turned off. This headset did. I left it plugged in over night with the computer off and came down this morning to a fully charged headset.Microphone - 5/5The headset unfortunately only lets you use the left ear for the mic, you can't turn it to the otherside, but it's with good reason. When the microphone is up, mute is turned on, and it doesn't draw power. Helps add more time to the battery life, nothing to shake a stick at. You can't flex it, but it picks up your voice fine. I played with 60-80 people on various games and only got 1 complaint about the mic. I suspect it had something to do with their computer or internet connection. From what i could hear using a couple programs, it sounded about the same as any decent wired headset.Controls - 5/5on your left ear you have a few handy controls. you have a +volume button on the top of the outside of the frame, -volume at the bottom, a pause/play button towards the front, and a skip button towards the back. No matter what you're doing, it's easy and fast to adjust the volume or pause music. Fantastic placement of buttons.Comfort - 5/5This is the ONLY headset my ears haven't started to ache while wearing. they fit snugly on your ears, but they don't cut off circulation, and they have a nice soft pleather like material that cushions your ears and the bar that rests on your head. Don't get me wrong, you can feel the headset there, but it isn't heavy, it isn't tight, it feels natural.As a whole, this is the best headset i've ever purchased. Also, considering how few choices there are on the market for wireless headsets, this is the way to go. And it's cheaper too. I give this 5/5 stars because the minor problems are just that, minor. they don't really detract from the usage, and what it's supposed to do it excels at. As this technology ages, this is what the newer headsets need to be based on and refined.

This is a bit bulky. but comfortable enough. The fact that you can't use it while charging is lame. Really not an ideal feature. But obviously you have to constantly plug in when not in use. I also don't like that I can't walk very far and still hear things. From my desk to kitchen is 10-15 feet.. and I lose connection. not very helpful.I previously owned Logitech Wireless Headset H760 With Behind-the-head Design. And i could walk outside the house and still hear things. And you can charge while using. BUT cheaply made.. broke so easily. in two different places, used tape to keep it together. So i had to buy something that was stronger, which this plantronics audio is.. i don't see it cracking in half.. but other faults. So i'm still in search of an affordable (or unafforable!) perfect wireless headset with speaker.

When we pared down our landlines to prepaid mobile phones, we wanted a cost effective way of making calls to friends and family outside the country and decided on Skype. Since we share a home office, having the call come over the speakers wasn't very private and distracting for the other person. We decided we needed a headset and I liked the idea wireless capability and a folding mic boom to get it out of the way. I'm marking it down one star because the ear cups are a touch small and don't go completely wrap the ears, and battery life could be better.Pros: lightweight, folding boom auto mutes when folded up, priceCons: battery life could be better, ear cups a touch on the small side.

The Plantronics 995 headset is a great value for the dollar. Sound quality is very good, and I've had no problem with the range of this wireless headset - in fact, being able to get up to get a cup of coffee or retrieve a needed document while taking business calls is my favorite feature. My only complaint is that I was used to a much lighter headset. These kind of clamp onto your ears, rather than lay lightly upon them. And for all that tightness, they don't really filter out outside noise as well as you'd think they would. I haven't worn them for longer than an hour-and-a-half at a time, but after 60-90 minutes, I'm rather glad to take them off, as the pressure on your head, while not painful, is not something you can ignore. I would be unlikely to have to wear a headset for longer than that, so it's something I can deal with - but if you spend a lot more time than that with a headset on, you may want to think about that.

They sound great both to me and the person I'm talking to. I can move around freely without cords getting tangled. However, there's one thing I don't do with these that did do with the simple corded headset: answer the phone. The reason I don't answer the phone with these is that they are very difficult to use. I make phone calls with it because I have time to set everything up before starting the call, but while the phone is ringing, I don't have time to setup everything to answer the call.I'm using Ubuntu Linux so I don't know what it's like in Windows, but heres what I have to do every time I want to use the headset: plug in the usb transmitter/receiver/soundcard thing, turn on the headset, select sound settings from the Ubuntu volume control, select the input tab and choose this headset for input, select the output tab and choose this headset for output. You might wonder why I don't leave the dongle plugged in all the time? The main reason is that it flashes an annoying blue light whenever it's not connected to the headset, and with the very short battery life, I have no choice but to turn off headset whenever it's not being used. Even if I were to leave the dongle plugged in, I would still have to go into sound settings before and after every use, and I would still have to turn on and off the headset. A second advantage of unplugging the dongle is that the sound setting automatically revert back to the speakers so that I don't have to go into sound settings after finishing with the headset. With my old corded headset, I could plug it into a splitter that the speakers were also plugged into so that the sound was going through both at the same time, and I could just keep the sound input always on the headset. To answer the phone, all I had to do was turn off the speakers or mute them: no problem at all.If someone happens to call while I'm still using this wireless headset to make calls, then of course, it's easy to answer the phone, but otherwise, it's just two much setup while a phone is ringing.The other drawbacks to this headset are it's short battery life and inability to use it while charging.I would probably try a different headset if this one ever fails.

Very impressed with this headset! I believe the battery life said 6 hrs, but I get at least 7 or 8 out of it. Very clear sound, and the mic pics up perfectly. The only time audio cuts out is when I'm in the kitchen with the microwave going or some vehicle drives by outside with apparently conflicting radio waves, 'cause it only cuts out for 1-2 seconds and it's rare.

The best thing about these is that they work. The voice quality is good going both ways and that is the primary reason to own these. I replaced a wired set and these are almost as good sound quality. I first bought a Logitech high end set and the sound quality was poor, especially for the person on the other end of Skype. I sent those back and bought these.Good points:Range is decent with no obstructions but can't handle distance + walls.Voice quality is excellent.Bad points:Little or no sidetone, the ability to hear my own voice when talking. This is weird but you get used to it.Marginal comfort. Unfortunately my ears aren't square so they don't fit the cups too well. When you first put them on it feels really odd and not comfortable, but after a few minutes I don't notice anymore. Not too bad.Can't charge while using. Not a big deal, I just keep them charged.It's kind of sad that two brands of expensive wireless headset aren't nearly as good as my old cheap wired ones.

I just got this headphones. The headphones work very well, no complaints at all, but the mike just doesnt go to mute. I bought it because Im on voice calls on pc the whole day and I really wanted the liberty of being able to walk around and stretch my legs for a bit. Unfortunately, I cant use it for voice calls, because I flipping the microphone up doesnt mute it and if I need to cough or sneeze, theres just no way to mute this headset.

I purchased this headset because I was tired of running over the wires on my previous one with my computer chair. So far, the battery life has been good; I plug it in to charge every night. The sound quality is also great while in range of the transmitter. I took off a star for two reasons. The first is that while the sound quality is good, I wish the range of the transmitter was a bit broader. If I go downstairs to get a drink, my headset cuts out and then I miss part of whatever I am listening to; I only have to go back in range and I can hear it again, but it is a tad on the annoying side. The other reason I took off a star is because the earpieces are not as comfortable as some of the other headsets I have owned. They are a bit smaller, so they press hard against the top ridge of my ear and that hurts after a while; I feel that the padding around the ear is a little too thin. The earpieces are also leather, which is not quite as comfortable as the velvet I've had on others. All in all, this is a great headset at a decent price. (I did get it on sale.) You definitely get good value for the money.

First, I must say I absolutely loved this headset for as long as I had the ability to enjoy it.Sound quality is pretty good considering the fact they are limited by the fact it needs to be able to work without an endless stream of energy for more than 5 minutes..The headset is very comfortable. I have no problem wearing it for hours. The wireless is incredible. I'm able to go pretty much anywhere in my house. It is able to stay connected without any problems once-so-ever. Sound blocking is also really nice.The catch? Well, that fragile little USB receiver can't be replaced. I recently lost mine after taking it with me for a trip.I emailed Plantronics. A day later, they send me this statement:"The USB adapter is not available for purchase by itself, so to replace the USB adapter, the whole headset will need to be replaced."Well, at $60 here on Amazon or $100 on their own site, that isn't an option. Not to worry, if you happen to have a proof of purchase (Because having the headset does not prove it is yours and they will treat you like a criminal until you prove you aren't) you can have it sent in and they will send you a new one for a fee... Umm... Why can't I just buy an adapter?With my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, if I ever break the receiver, just head to their site, search it, buy a new receiver for $10, sparing me the $120 to replace the whole set. If my mouse or keyboard broke, I would stick with them and buy the same model. As soon as this headset's (Non replaceable, I might add) battery dies, then I will be completely fine with tossing it out and trying another company... And never buying Plantronic again. Their customer support is laughable at best.Another problem I have noticed. People, this is not bluetooth. It uses their own in house system using radio frequencies.

I wish I'd read more reviews before ordering, I might have learned how painful they are if you wear eyeglasses. They press very hard against the eyeglass temples, no way I could wear them for more than a few minutes.I've used lots of different headphones and headsets over the years, and never experienced anything like this.Packaged them up and returned. Since there's nothing "wrong" with them I have to pay return shipping to Amazon. Sigh.

Bought this back in January -- less than 3 months old, used daily. Plastic bridge (the part over your head) broke while putting on one day. Out of warranty (1 month) of courseI used this for a VOIP headset, and battery life would let me be on the phone for 5 or 6 hours between charges. Not too bad. Fair sound quality. Heavy.

Love the clarity, comfort, and the freedom this headset provides. This is my second time purchasing this headset. The first one is almost 2 years old and is as good as it was on the first day of use. I purchased another so I could have one at each of my homes. I use the headsets for work so it is very important the headset is reliable. The only downside of this headset is it cannot be charged while in use. I keep it plugged in when I'm not using it so it has not been an issue for me (phone use only), but I did read where gamers have an issue with the battery life.

This is my first headset, and although I don't have anything to compare it to, it certainly meets all my expectations. I use it mainly for conference calls and Skype. The sound is great and the people on the receiving end of my calls never have a problem hearing me. Although the headset is a bit bulky, it is very comfortable and can easily be worn for several hours at a time.

Lots of reviews out there, but mine is a bit more objective due to the testing I have done.Probably, like you, I was in the market for a headset to use with speech recognition, Skype, music playback from iTunes, etc. But I wanted to cut the cord on my Logitech USB headset. So a few months ago I went out and purchased the Logitech ClearChat Wireless headset. Between this latter headset and the Plantronics 995, there really is not much else on the market as far as non-bluetooth wireless headsets go. These headsets use a USB 2.4 GHz transceiver. This is much better than bluetooth, which constantly needs pairing and has sub-par performance when used with speech recognition, VOIP, etc. due to low bandwidth.Testing and using the Logitech ClearChat Wireless headset, I was pretty impressed. It worked with Dragon Naturally Speaking/MacSpeech Dictate, as well as with Skype.However, what I did not like about the Logitech ClearChat headset was that the ear muffs were too small (many complain about it) and there was constant static whilst speaking to someone on Skype (Skype to phone calls). Additionally, the more you move around with the ClearChat, the more static there is, and the range was acceptable but not great. To make my testing objective, I was switching, on the Skype call, between the USB headset and the wireless ClearChat one. The static was only present with the ClearChat headset and not with the USB headset.So, having read all the great reviews about the 995 Plantronics, I went down to the store, exchanged my ClearChat for a pair. I then phoned from Skype to a telephone (same person) and tested the reception again. This time, there was hardly any static at all (user feedback): their comment was that it was "much improved" from the previous wireless headset. I also got better range with the Plantronics as well.In addition, the speech recognition seems to work a bit better too, and is actually working amazingly. Seems even better than my USB headset.Furthermore, I tested some iTunes playback and no question the Plantronics has fuller, deeper, richer sound than the Logitech ClearChat headset.The only thing I like better about the ClearChat headset is that you can quickly switch the headset off when you don't want it to be connected to the receiver.With the Plantronics, you can quickly switch it on and off too, with auto-pairing (nice), but there is only one button, not a switch, which needs to be held down for 2 seconds to turn the unit off or on. The only issue is, unless the unit is off your head, you won't be able to see the solid blue light turn to red then off. So if you want to shut it off and leave it on your head, it is not possible to get confirmation from the headset that it is off. However, you will see the blue light flash on the receiver, from solid blue, and that is confirmation you have turned off your headset. But it also indicates the headset is out of range, so the only way to really know for sure that your headset is turned off is to remove them from your head and look to see if the light is off on the side.Thus, the ClearChat's simple on/off switch is superior in this regard, where you can turn the unit off without the need to remove it from your head for confirmation. At any rate, this is sort of minor because most times you can be confident that a flashing blue light on the receiver indicates you have successfully turned off the headset, so you won't be needing to remove it.And I like to power down the unit frequently to save on battery life...As for battery life, I think the Plantronics is better than the ClearChat as well, and both demand roughly the same charging times. Of note, when you first get the unit, charging it may be a bit quirky. You should calibrate the battery (the ClearChat headset took 2 days before it was fully charged, for instance).Other than that, do yourself a favor and get the Plantronics wireless headset. It is truly liberating to have the cords cut, and it works extremely well with speech recognition.4.5 out of 5 stars, because of the on/off procedure and paltry instructions that do not explain how to turn the unit on/off. In addition, nothing is perfect. But a 4.5 out of 5 star rating for me is a huge compliment to anyone. I am very critical of everything, and demand a lot from my computing products. Plantronics: well done.Remember, hold down the power button on the headset for 2 seconds ONLY to turn it on or off.----------------------------January 6, 2009 UPDATE:I just wanted to update everyone. Just recently, the headset's power button broke (it wouldn't press any more: sort of stuck). I almost had a suspicion that it would happen because the power button feels a tad cheap and must be pressed and held down for a few seconds to power down the headset. Since I like to power down my headset often to save on battery life, the switch didn't hold up. I just received my new unit from Plantronics and it's charging. Customer service was pret

When I decided to get a wireless headset, Plantronics was the first brand in my mind due product quality.But the wireless link of this product is terrible. Even quite close to the usb transmitter (2 feet), the headset presents some "metal grinding" sound, like it was loosing connection/weak signal. After some internet digging, I figured out this is a common issue, like a "design drawback" and not a unit fault. If you wanna talk with someone or listening good music, don't get this product. I'm about to throw mine into trash can.

I had been using the Logitech Clearchat but had an issue and had to return them. These were rated #2 just behind the Logitech headset. I spend most of my day using the headset over VOIP to communicate with co workers and customers from my home office. The headset offers clear crisp sound, great range, easy volume control and mute. Also, if charged over night, the battery life is sufficient to get me through the work day.The one minor negative for me is they are rather large, have some weight to them and they cover my entire ears which, for a woman, feels a bit cumbersome. Additionally, if I am wearing my glasses they tend to cause some pressure sensitivity over the course of the day.The logitech headset is smaller and lighter and I will likely go back to those. But there is nothing wrong with this headset if you dont mind the weight and size - generally speaking, is better suited for the men.

I am really impressed with this headset. I use it mainly for Skype calls, and the sound is very clear on both ends and holds steady when I move away from the computer. I was surprised to find that it worked better than the previous wired headsets I've tried over the past few years. The only drawback for me is that it does feel somewhat heavy, and I don't know how comfortable it would be wearing it for hours at a time. For light use, though, it's working like a charm.

This product works great. It works great for Skype calls, google voice calls, and for the kids watching their favorite shows on the internet - now the parents don't have to hear the same shows over and over. There's peace and quiet for us to read while they're on the computer!

If I could I would rate it 3.5 stars. I bought this when it was $54.99. I was excited since it was decent price compared to other wireless headsets that included a mic. I used this when I have to turn off my speakers or when I Skype.Pros: Good, clear sounds. Easy to mute (lift mic upwards). Easy to increase or decrease the volume(located left ear). No problem with pairing. I connected the USB and turned on the headset and it automatically paired. I live in a small apartment and I was able to walk to my closet, bathroom, kitchen, and part of living room before it started to beep. I am not sure what the beep was, maybe indicating I am getting too far? Microphone is good. My friend heard no static on my end and he could hear me whisper as well so it is sensitive.Cons: After a while, my ears started to hurt. It ached my jaw near the ears. Headset is huge on my small, petite body and head. However, I was willing to tolerate the looks of it and how goofy I looked wearing it but the aches around the ears was not worth it for me. I returned it due to the ear aches. The band does have a plastic feel to it and it's light compared to the heavy ears. So be careful holding or lifting it. Structure could have been built better but I am gentle with everything so doesn't bother me much.Overall: I do recommend this headset. It delivers what I am looking for (besides the ear pain). Head size and ears vary so if it fits your ears/head and doesn't give you pain, then yeah it will be great for you.

I was looking for a wireless headset with microphone mostly for use with Skype after my old one broke. This set is comfortable over the ears and has excellent sound. So far it seems sturdy and I hope it will last. It lasts a long time (many long calls) without charging but since it charges over USB, it is quite slow to re-charge. Overall, I'm very happy with the headset and would recommend it.

My fiance loved these. I did a whole bunch of research on wireless headphones and I've found these ones to have the highest ratings, regards of which website I found them on. The sound is very clear and the noise canceling works well. The charge holds well too. Highly recommended product.

The headset is a very good headset for the price. The sound quality is on par with some of the more well known headset brands and it has lasted over a year or two by now. (Writing this review kind of late eh? XD) Sometimes it hurts my hearts quick badly though considering I have a large head. That is really my only complaint. 4 stars.

This is a great headset and even gets pretty decent range from the usb adapter.My only issue is that the battery lasts up to 6 hours (it's more like 4 with constant use) and you are unable to use it while charging the unit. I really like Plantronics products and I bought this so I could do my job unwired. I understand there are other headsets that have this feature but I didn't realize it at the time I was buying it or I might not have.

The Plantronics 995H headsetI purchased the Plantronics 995H headset on A "Leap of Faith" and I was very pleased with the results!The reason it was an "Leap of Faith" was that I use the Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice to text conversion program and it was not a recommended headset. I had only discovered this after I had ordered the headset.The Main Factor I ordered it was that I had previously used a Plantronics headset that did function well on earlier versions of the software, but eventually failed due to a faulty connection in the recharging system.One of the first things I noticed when I opened the package was that the recharge connection on this headset was a metal one rather than the plastic one on the unit I used before.As far as installing the headset on my Dragon NaturallySpeaking software it passed all of the microphone test requirements with flying colors and I am currently using it to construct this posting.The construction of the headset seems to be sturdy enough for use with little problems and if I had any complaints they would be as follows:* The microphone boom while being very sturdy, cannot be adjusted in a lateral fashion to move it closer or further away from your face - fortunately for me this is not a problem as it seems to be in a good position to record my speech without interference from breath sounds.* As stated before the recharge connection is metallic but the recharge system is USB-based and a USB charging cord is only about 24 inches long and there is NO AC ADAPTER! This means that unless you have a separate AC to USB adapter there is no way to recharge the headset unless it is connected to your computer and the computer is on.* Perhaps the greatest deficiency is that as mentioned the USB cord is only 2 feet long and is impossible to wear it while the unit is being charged - This doesn't really matter because while the unit is in charge mode, it is nonfunctional! This means that you cannot charge it while using it and you are wholly dependent on the battery charge lasting throughout a recording session.As a plus, as stated before the unit works very well with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and its price certainly makes it an attractive and affordable headset to use with this program.So far, I have not had any problems with battery life but I am concerned that there is no access to replace the batteries and the lifespan of batteries no matter how well they are constructed is a limited sort of thing - It remains to be seen how long they will last especially since simultaneous charging and using mode is not available. This means that the batteries will have to "Deep Cycle" and this does tend to reduce battery life.

I quite like the headset, it's awesome to not be replacing wired headsets every few months but there are a couple of things I don't like:No warning for when the battery is empty, it just cuts out.Can't use it while on charge.Other than that, it's an awesome product.

I did a great deal of research in choosing between this headset and the Logitech H800 and finally went with the Plantronics .Audio 995.The .Audio 995 is fantastic and I am extremely satisfied with my decision. After the initial charge, the headset worked immediately on my Windows 7 laptop after simply plugging in the dongle. The audio quality is terrific, much better than the quality speaker setup I had been using. I've used the headset with all sorts of applications without any issues whatsoever including iTunes, VLC media player, Mumble, Skype, Rosetta Stone -- you name it. Skype and Mumble contacts say the quality is better than my old Logitech ClearChat wired headset.I've tested the range of the headset and the 40 feet is a fair estimate of what you'll get. I got more than 40 feet via line-of-sight and found that through standard walls and whatnot, 40 feet was pretty much the minimum. If the connection is lost, it pops right back in when you get within range.A few things that came up in other reviews are worth mentioning. While I found the headset well-adjustable for head-size, I can probably agree that wearing it for the full six hour charge might be a bit uncomfortable. A couple of hours? No problem.The fact that it cannot charge while being worn keeps this from being perfect. Look, it's a bummer, but it's a known bummer. Manage your battery and all is well.Also, yeah, don't misplace the dongle -- or the tiny charging cable if you don't have extras.I have not used the straight BlueTooth (non-dongle) connection yet, but so far, this product is everything it says it is -- and it's awesome.

I purchased this headset because I previously had used one for study of foreign language so experience led me to buy this one. I do like the wireless feature because it allows me to move quite some distance from the computer when I am listening to music or audio books. Some of the language programs I use to study Spanish require that the user speak into a microphone to input verbal response. The microphone on this unit works well, and when it's not required, the microphone easily folds up and out of the way.Controls on the headset are conveniently placed and easy to access.Also the price was appropriate for my budget. I am sure there are higher end units available that reproduce sound of higher quality, but for my needs, this unit works great.

Bought this for use w/ Dragon Naturally Speaking program. Works great for it; no problems at all picking up words, sentences, etc. I have also started using it for listening to music and excellent for that as well. You may find yourself wandering out of range for music (for me about 50 feet or so) because wireless feature is so convenient. I have used this on XP, Vista and Windows 7 pcs, all w/ no problems. Great product, I already have back up one when this one fails.

These are not bluetooth, and the sound quality with Skype and Google Voice is great. They could do a better job of noise canceling and they could be a little more comfortable to wear.

I had to get another one because I ruined the one I had. This product is so great, I will always have one with me at all times. If you're curious what happened, the unit was dropped on concrete and stepped on.

This is my second headset for the past 4 years, the only reason I had to buy a second one it is because I accidentally stepped on the top of my previous one :-)The quality of the sound whether you are listening to music, playing games or watching a movie is great! In case of games you can really listen to the ambient noises which make you feel like you are in the game. For skype services it is also great, the noise cancel for the microphone works great! The person on the phone can hear your voice better than most cell phone.

Thi s item is working good, it is an average item.Before I buy this item when I saw it on amazon,I thought it is going to be a very very good head phone, but not that good as I was thinking.

I love being able to walk around and use Dragon Naturally Speaking without cords and such. I also like being able to listen to movies at night without disturbing anybody. The sound quality rocks and the USB makes it all too easy to set up. I was so impressed I bought one for my teenage daughter. 5 Stars

These headphones have two flaws. Neither would be that big of a deal on its own, but together they make the product unusable:1) Poor battery life. The charge only last for about an hour when the phones are new and declines to less than 30 minutes after about 6 months.2) You cannot use the phones while they are being re-recharged. So if the battery dies in the middle of a call, you are totally dead. This is an truly insane shortcoming. If they fixed it and provided a longer charging cord, the first drawback would hardly matter.

This headset is baddddddd (in a good way)!!! HD all the way!!! listened to The Dark Knight and the headset shook to the explosions in the movie. Played music off iHeartradio.com and I never want to take them off. comfortable on the head, not heavy feeling. love that they are wireless and no interference or bad connections. Definitely the best headset next to the expensive ones but at a great buy, even cheaper than what they were selling them on Plantronics outlet site. MY BEST CHRISTMAS present yet!

I am a picky consumer, but this headset has performed for me year after year with no sign of slowing. The sound quality is wonderful. Syncing is easy and reliable. People I speak to on Skype and other services tell me that I'm clearer when I use this headset than when I use my regular wired headset.I would definitely recommend this product. Worth every penny.

The battery will last you 8 hours max. However, better than Bluetooth if you want to enjoy a movie or any sort of video off your PC. For me, these are used for work and not for gaming. Thus, my comments are limited to my way of usage.

This product has been a great purchase. I agree with some of the other reviews that it is annoying that you can't use it while charging it, but it hasn't been a problem for me. I use the headset for about 2-3 skype meetings a day and to listen to music, watch tv online at times. The battery has never completely run down and I am not particularly vigilant about charging it, so that has been helpful. The headset is comfortable and the sound quality is great. Perhaps a minimal complaint that I have is that the headset fits well, but I wear glasses and occasionally after a couple of hours, it gets a bit uncomfortable. I think this would likely be the case with any noise cancelling head set however.

Here is my take on the Planatronics Audio 995 Wireless Stereo HeadsetPros:Good quality and build for the price.USB connector is simple to use and easy to install, just plug it in and your computer will install the respective drivers.Voice chat is pretty good qualityAfter a year of use, i still get 4-6 hours of battery life from constant use. Charges quickly too. A 30 minute charge gives you about 2 hours.Volume control on the side of the headset is usefulCons:Relatively short range, I'd say about 30ft.Can't actually use the device when it is charging from the mini usb dongle.The ear piece is not very well padded, my ears start to hurt after 3+ hours of use, but its bearable.OVERALLCurrently, I'd say this is the best wireless headset device for the price. It will last long enough for most anybody, and provided great quality for about half the price of other wireless headsets.

I finally broke down and bought this headset after a friend recommended it. So far they're working well. Sound quality is excellent- both with the mic and headphones. Everyone has heard me just fine Vent. Though my friends playing on laptops have a really annoying buzzing sound when they key up!I'm a girl gamer and the headset fits my head just fine. The headphones cover my ears. While the headset is generally comfortable, there are a few things I should point out. Sometimes it feels really tight on my ears. I can pull them apart a little and it helps. Sometimes they fit uncomfortably with my glasses. I just need to adjust it and it usually solves it. The headphone covers are a cheapy vinyl plastic thing. While I don't notice when I'm playing, when I take them off, my ears feel all gross and sweaty. They are very well padded and cushioned though.They fit well and pleased with them so far. Amazon had them at a great price- more than half what I've seen them at big box stores. The Wireless feature is awesome =)UPDATE: After using these daily for a few weeks now, I wanted to update. As I said before I'm a girl, so I suppose my head is smaller than a guys. I've discovered that they are just bit too large- the distance from the top of the head to the earpieces could shorten another inch for me. So if I have the headband resting on my noggin, the ear pads are pulling down on my ears. If I have the ear pads nice on my ears, the headband sits up off the top of my head. I'm starting to find the headset to be uncomfortable on my ears, I have to adjust them often. I guess if you have a smaller head, be warned it may be too big. But... the sound quality is amazing! The battery life is great also. The USB charging cord is insanely short though.

I have had my headset since Jan 20, 2011. Overall it has worked well but for several months it has had a short in the microphone and doesn't work with the microphone in the down (speaking) position. In order to work the microphone has to be positioned halfway between the up and down position. I spent the time to go through the entire "request a replacement" process with Plantronics only to be told at the end that it was "Out of Warranty". Wish they would have advised me before I wasted my time with them.
