I work from home, and use a Cisco softphone application to make my business calls. I used to have the Logitech wired USB headphone with mic. It worked well, but I often found myself tangled up. After reading some reviews between the Plantronics 995 and the Logitech Wireless version, I decided to go with the Plantronics because of the reviews and Plantornics' reputation. Having used the 995 for the past week (at least 3 hours everyday), I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm thrill to be free of the cord. The wireless range is very good (close to 50 feet before I'm out of range), allowing me to get coffee, brush my teeth, use the WC, all the while on the softphone. The sounds quality is good. But I'm mostly using this for voice calls, so I'm not a great judge of the fullness of audio. The only drawback is it's size. I feel like I'm wearing a helmet when using this. It feels tight even after loosening the headband. It's a stark contrast to my Shure E2c, which I can hardly notice while inside my ear. All in all, it's a great wireless headset with mic. I just wish it were a little smaller.

This product is good for the money.It is comfortable and the mic works great.The only major issue that I have with them is the sound on occasion.They will be working great and then for a few seconds their will be a watery quality to the sound before returning to normal.Overall I would give this product the thumbs up for the price.

My head hurts shortly after using them - hate the total tight fit around ears - ears in a vacuum. Corded plantronics is excellent, this wireless thing works 60% of calls. I can hear them - they can't hear me and hang up. Battery life poor.

A couple of problems that cause this headset to suck compared to other alternatives.- The audio quality is poor to people on the other end (switched headsets mid call to another and everyone exclaimed, wow, that audio is a lot better)- Audio that comes through at times sounds robotic- I can't stand the overall ear cover. I struggle with feeling like I am in a vacuum. This could be a personal preference, but for a USB headset I will never get something like this again. If it was for my ipod it would be a different story.- So, then the really sucky thing about the headset is that the charging cable (the only way to charge the headset) is about a foot long. So in the event that headset dies mid-call, there is no way you can use the headset while charging. So this is a problem obviously, meaning that the headset should be charged when not in use, the problem is charging is difficult. There isn't a cradle, there is a tiny plug that you have to plug in.

I love Plantronics products generally. I have used them in business for a decade or more. This was a disappointment. I use this for Skype. I had a wired one from Sennheiser, and it is great. I really wanted to be able to move around and talk at the same time... like with a cell phone... in my office suite. Problem here is - number one - I can charge it, and it is usually dead a day later. No, I am not using it a day. I only occassionally use Skype. I go to use the device, and it is dead. This means I have to pull out the usb wireless device and plug in the Sennheiser very fast.Okay, let's say I freshly charge it and do not let a night go by. It works. It works to about 10 feet, then the fade starts. 20 feet and it is gone. This is a typical office suite. Nobody's doors are close. Just... fading out too soon.I do not totally hate it, and have stuffed it in my travel bag for use on the road. It is out for daily use. The travel will require a recharge right when I get to the hotel.I am looking for better. This is not it.

This is my favorite headset. The sound is fantastic. Mic is fantastic. While it is charged everything is good. It does not, however, charge while in use.The other problem - and quite common from forum posts. is that the usb dongle breaks internally and no longer pairs. Thankfully it is under warranty for a year and amazon.com keeps invoices online for 10 yrs. I'm sending it back. Plantronics says they will promptly replace it. They do not make the dongle separately, so they replace the entire headset. I will amend this review, and give another star, once headset is replaced.Don't bother contacting [...] or amazon.com if you need replacement. Go right to Plantronics.

::GOOD::1-it was easy very to set up.2-the sound quality is AMAZING!! crystal clear, doesn't crackle or doesnt fade out.3-you can walk around with the headphones around a whole apt without losing signal, which is nice so you dont have to disconnect it when you need to do something real quick.4-they're very cushioned and soft::BAD::1-You have to charge these headphones for like 4 hours otherwise it dies very fast and the mic stops working.2-sometimes the mic will fade in and out if it doesnt have enough charge, which is frustrating because i bought this for my husband so he can play left for dead 2 and whatnot.3-the earphone size is small...the width for the earphone is 3 in and the height is 3 in. my husband has big ears so they start to hurt after 10 minutes.4-another downside is you have to charge the headphones constantly. whenever he's not using them, they must be charged for hours.5-you can't use them while theyre charging because the cord to connect it to let it charge is only 2ft long.so in conclusion...its good as long as you have small ears and charge them for hours at a time!! =]

I am very happy with this purchase. The quality of the set is very good. Great range. Two downsides: can't use the unit while it is charging, and the ear cuff is a bit uncomfortable.

I was really disappointed with these. The range is not very good at all and they just cut out. Not exactly what I had in mind and I already threw out the packaging so I'm stuck with them. I would say they cut out around 20-30 feet.They do seem to be fairly comfortable, but I'm not going to be using them since the range is too small, so what does that even matter?Advice - If you're willing to take the risk.... be sure to save the packaging!!!!

I agree with everything Chuck L had to say in his review. I use these headphones primarily for conference calls at work. At least twice I've had the battery charge run out while I was in the middle of a call. It was a poor design decision to not be able to use the headphones while charging.The only other thing I have to add is that the headphones seem huge to me compared to others I've owned. I feel like I should be on the tarmac at an airport guiding planes to the runway.

So far it has worked great. The sound quality is really good and the mic seems to work well as well. The range and the signal consistency seems really good, I walked about 20 feet (2 walls) and it didn't drop and the sound quality was still good with no drops or static. The audio control buttons are big and easy to control compared to tiny little buttons on some other brands.My gripes include the build quality, it's a little too plasticky, it almost feels like a toy. The comfort is so-so, maybe I need to break it in, but at the moment it's a little uncomfortable around my ears. The power on-off is tricky, you have to hold it down for 2 seconds to turn it on/off, but if you press it a little too long (4 secs) it will unpair from the dongle. I did this by accident a few times and got annoyed, but I'm more used to it now, so I don't hold it down too long.Overall, I recommend this if you're looking for a wireless headset under $80. The minor gripes can be overlooked for the price and function.

Just started using this headset. It's got good range and an accurate microphone for speech recognition.I have given it four stars. Over the next few weeks I will be reviewing it again. The reason for the four stars was that charging is really an issue. They do not provide a charger. You have to use your phone charger to charge the headset (or use the USB from your laptop to charge the headset). and you cannot use it while it's charging !!I really needed the speech recognition capabilities from a wireless headset. So I'm happy with this product for now.

The Audio 995 works well as its intended to, wireless headset with no wires in the way. The range is quite good depending on the number of walls between you and the transmitter.My only gripe is that the ear-cups are too small and will hurt your ears if used for long periods of time.

The sound and comfort is amazing. Recently upgraded from my Plantronics USB headset (DSP 500) to this one. I have read the other reviews, and I too wish that you could use the headset while charging as well, but, I feel that the battery life suits my needs enough. I still keep my other set plugged into my desktop, but, I've never had to use it even if I forgot to recharge my new one. Fantastic for gaming (using Ventrillo) and listening to music. Range is adequate for my usage, I can go a decent distance before it cuts out, like to the kitchen if I want to get something to drink.Sound quality for music I think is better than my wired headset, and I think I paid twice the amount for that one.I'm very pleased with my purchase. I have always had luck with Plantronics whether it be a headset for my computer or the many bluetooth headsets for my cell phone.I always look for the new innovations from this company and, with the satisfaction I've had with all of my Plantronics devices, would always consider purchasing this brand first.

The major conflict I have with it is that you can not charge it without turning your computer off. You charge it by plugging it into your computer with a very short wire, (too short to use it and charge it at the same time). So when I jump on my computer, it's out of juice, and I plug it in and have to resort to my other headset. My recommendation is to find a headset that has a cradle to put in to charge in your off-time or find one that uses rechargeable batteries.It's very comfort. I could wear this the whole day without any discomfort, (if the power lasted that long). The sound is clear, the mic is clear, the noise reduction is amazing. People I talk to online can hear things in my house better than I can. You can wear this anywhere in your room with your computer. I can't go into other room either because I am out of range or because of the walls, (not sure). I wanted to wear this in my house and play music but this really only works in the room your computer is in, not the whole house.However, for the price it gets the job done. If you plan to use this frequently, I would recommend finding a version with a better recharge system or possibly a cord to recharge the headset from a wall socket. The juice lasts pretty long, but with no time for recharge (except when you are on the computer and not using the headset) you resort to not using them.

Not being able to charge them while in use is a deal-breaker for me. 8 hrs isn't enough battery life for my work day.Otherwise, apart from feeling a little flimsy, they seem to behave as advertised.Buy in haste, return at leisure.Back to Amazon you go...

TWO YEARS LATER - still working, but this is now my backup headset!Purchased this January 7, 2010 - headset still GOING STRONG AS OF OCTOBER 2011. It's on at least 10+ hours a week (Friday night is BF2 and SC2 night). Picking up a NEW HEADSET in preparation for BF3 this October 25.Great headset for gaming. So far, it has worked flawlessly for the 2 weeks that I have owned it. Very sturdy and I love the fact that you simply plug in the usb adapter (Thank you Windows 7), turn on the headset and go. When you are done, you unplug the adapter and the headset turns off. Only problem is that the fridge is too far for me to get a drink without losing connection. Worth EVERY PENNY spent! Only con is the comfort. They are a bit "tight", but other than that - worth the $$ spent. Go get yourself a pair!

I highly recommend wireless headphones in general and these in particular. I was optimistic after reading the other reviews and have not been disappointed. If feels like they just barely cover my ears and they become a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours of continuous use, but I just nudge them around a bit and all is well again.

I'll echo many of the other comments here. I use this primarily for VoIP calling and dictation and it works great. I also sometimes use it for music and love it.Pros - Light weight. Works as advertised. Great sound quality, great mic, good battery life, good consistency and distance, no interference, fairly comfortable for several hours at a time. Good price.Cons - Cannot use while charging. No warning on battery quitting, no battery meter. No mute button (have to swivel boom mic all the way up). No voice-feedback to hear yourself. Limited adjustment to the headset. Ear pads could be a little bigger for more comfort after about 4-5 hours.I just wish there was a programmable button on the headset allowing me to enable 1-touch answer for the phone... So it goes.I did a ton of research before purchasing and I'm quite happy with this one. Good unit, definitely recommend it! Very happy with it.

I spend the majority of the day talking with colleagues over the PC and these headphones have proven to be almost exactly what I wanted. I get tired of cords being in the way and tethering me to the laptop like a 4' leash. With these I can roam the better portion of the lower floor of our home before the signal degrades (range is probably about 25' with obstructions). Had to develop a habit of making sure its plugged in every evening. What's left of the battery charge doesn't make it overnight and you cannot use these while they're charging. They are a little on the big side, but sound quality in and out is very good. Took me a second reading of the instructions to figure out that moving the mic all the way up is how you mute it. The microwave seems to cause a lot of interference when I'm trying to reheat coffee during a conversation, but a quick three steps away takes care of that problem.

I've just been through my second pair and it's a piece of junk as far as Macs go... I haven't been able to get either one to work after speaking to Plantronics tech support. Go for a different one.

The unit stopped working after 3 months of seldom use. The headset would not pair to the receiver. Customer support was not able to help. I had to send it back (pay for shipping!) and get a replacement unit. Wondering how long will the replacement last?

Great cost-effective solution for wireless phone calls using skype. Also completely adequate for recording narration tracks, voice memos, etc.I'm using a Mac Pro with OS 10.5 and it was super easy to set up - just plug and play. Range seems good inside, but once you go outside the signal seems to drop, at least in my experience.

These headphones are absolute garbage. After 2 or 3 uses the battery went flat. After charging they would not pair and haven't ever since. Unfortunately I bought these in the US but am in Europe for 4 months so I can't return them due to the US pathetic 90 day return policy!!!!!!!Don't buy these - THEY DON'T WORK!!!!!

You can not use them while plugged in. But they work well for what I needed and wanted. The range is 10 ft less then Logitech wireless. So aside from that they seem sturdy enough when compared to others and remind me of when I was younger with the bigger sound blocking headphones. Great for work. :)

I got this headset when it was on sale and how fortuitous. Sound quality is very very good. Are they studio speakers? No. But everything i have heard thru them so far sounds way above average. I am a work-from-home software engineer and am constantly in virtual meetings. I get about 3-4 days off of one charge which is alot more than my high priced home phone. The mic is great and coworkers tell me i sound like i'm in the same room with them. I have been all over the house. The computer i plug the USB into is in the basement and the sound is great wherever i go.

I am using Skype to make lengthy calls to cell phones and land lines. Being able to walk around freely is a great experience and I am able to multitask. Therefore, a wireless headset is a must have.I decided to buy this headset after some reviews and because of the good price. I believe it is worth the money.Overall, the headset works as advertised and the wireless range in my apartment is very good reaching everywhere I go.There are some weak points though.1) the headset does not sit comfortably over the ears. I wonder why manufacturers still make them this way.2) The sound isn't the greatest either3) I did not find a way to adjust the low and high frequencies on my PC as I need to reduce the bass to have acceptable quality when talking to someone else who is on a cellphone.I guess for the price it is ok but I think I should have purchased the X-Fi based headset from Creative instead.

This headset is everything I wanted it to be, since my specific utilization is for voice recognition. Being wireless gives me tremendous freedom and a sense of total control. Surprisingly, the noise canceling characteristics far exceed what I expected, I find that I can dictate and the voice recognition software recognizes what I say accurately even with background noise from television or other people having conversation.I did not expect to use this headset for music, however I did find that the music reproduction is, in my opinion, exceptional. Although, I was not looking for a stereo headset, per se, listening to music with this headset far exceeds any music I've heard on my computer speakers, plus the fact, that it is entirely wireless and you can even walk around without being tied to the computer or any other item.The headset does feel a trifle snug, but then it is new and I expect that with use it will adjust itself to my head. Overall, I am completely satisfied with its performance and would recommend it highly. Let me conclude by saying, Being wireless, Awesome!

This is a great headset. It is NOT a great audiophile headset, but for online chatting and gaming (which are the uses I bought it for), its fantastic.PROS:1. Wireless: So nice to be wire-free and for under $100!2. Comfort: I find most headsets under $100 to be very uncomfortable for extended wear (over 30 minutes). I've worn these for over three hours and they felt great. They breathe, the muffle outside noise, the ear-pads don't crush the ear, the head band is adjustable and does not press down on the scalp.3. Clarity: Both the inbound and outbound sound are fantastic for talking and games and music, unless you are into high fidelity (they may be fine for audiophiles, but since I'm not one, I can't say one way or the other).4. Ease of use: Very easy to use.5. Rechargeable: No batteries. When not in a use, a special USB cable recharges your headset. (Cannot be used while recharging)CONS:The instructions are minimal (which is understandable -- how complicated can a headset get?!?) and were not clear about the one important aspect of this set: Pairing it with the transmitter (a USB, thumb-drive sized device). It claims to pair automatically, which perhaps it does most of the time. But it didn't on mine, and when I looked at the instructions for how to pair manually, they were not clear. I finally figured out that I needed to hold down both the power button on the headset AND the tiny, almost invisible button on the transmitter. But, once I did, all was beautiful.Highly recommended.

I got this unit as a gift and was excited to finally go wireless. My excitement soon turned to disappointment. It took several attempts to get the units to "pair up" but finally got them working. (The instructions never mention the tiny connect button on the USB transmitter.)Sound quality is good, battery life is about 4 hours. Not as comfortable as lighter, over-ear phones but bearable.There is one MAJOR problem, and this is a deal breaker... the unit interferes with my wireless connection bringing all web-browsing to a crawl. The PC still has a connection, but barely (about 4MBS). If you like to listen to on-line music, isn't going to happen with this unit unless your PC is hardwired via ethernet cable.

I had a Logitech ClearChat Wireless USB Headset before this one, here shall i make a comparison between two.Logitech ClearChat Wireless USB Headset[...]Positive:1) Got way larger coverage of its network. I had one, and I can even use it within two stairs, just it wouldn't work if I use it outside in the yard.2) Slimmer, easy to carry around.3) 2 year warranty which is 1 year longer than Plantronics Audio 995 Digital Wireless Stereo Headset4) Looks like better material, the rim is made of metal and weight light5) Pretty good sound quality, really does the job of noise canceling, feeling somewhat better than plantronics audio 995 digital wireless stereo headset6) Good recording quality.Negative:1) too small for many males.2) more expensiveAudio 995 Digital Wireless Stereo Headset[...]Positive:1) cheaper! about 10 bucks, since Logtiech is having 10 bucks rebate.2) longer battery life. Logtiech about 3 hrs, and this one has like 5,6 hours long...3) larger size, much better for those who has bigger heads4) look better?Negative:1) weaker wireless network. couldn't get through a stair.Conclusion:I would get Logitech if it has a bigger size or a Plantronics one if it has stronger wireless network

I thought this head set was going to be perfect for Skype and Gaming but alas its too uncomfortable over the ears. I've tried many different brands of over ear headsets and I have to say these are the most uncomfortable. Battery life is about 2hours of use and because you can not charge and talk at the same time, its not suited for business use at all. I would like to recommend another Wireless set like this but there really is none that come close to this price range.

I am using this headset to write this review with the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software. It appears that the only issues are between the software and the Amazon website, not between the headphones and the software. The accuracy, particularly when using DragonPad, is much greater than the mike input that came with the software. I bought a wireless USB setup for work because I kept getting tangled up in and/or running over the cord. These are great for that characteristic alone. It is also nice to be able to listen to music as I roam around the office; the range could be a bit farther, but it's nice that they cut out cleanly without much static. (The range limit is right where I need to talk to co-workers anyway.) I was going to get a corded USB headset for home, but these are so comfortable I bought another set of these. I may not have done so if they weren't 50% off, but they are worth it at this price.

Nifty as a wireless headset can be, this one doesn't exactly impress. It does get a 20-40ft range, if you are anywhere in a straight line from the USB end, without any doors or walls between. Step one foot out of that line of sight, though, and off it goes. The battery life is pretty sad. I get 3-4 hours of use out of it before it's drained down, and it doesn't give you a warning you can see or hear (though the blue light on the side supposedly blinks when it is low, if you're wearing it, you can't see it). So, it shuts off in the middle of my phone calls a lot, and then I have to wait til it's charged for four hours before I can call back and say, oops, sorry. If you don't need to use it for long periods of time, then it's great.

I was all excited for a wireless headset but this one failed me, it fits way to big on my head even with it fully adjusted, and after about 20 mins it becomes uncomfortable on my ears. Sorry to say that I wish I would have checked a few others before going ahead and ordering these. Live and learn.

I use the head set to record my lessons while I am teaching my classes. So I create videos of my lessons so my students can watch them later or to review. The sound quality is great while listening to the videos. I can walk around the room while talking so the wireless range is great. The only thing I don't like is the bulky part of the head phones.

The headset works great, good sound, good range, light weight, trully a plug and play device, long lasting battery. All of this pro's made me sad to return it at the end of the day.So here goes.The wireless connectivity of this headset interferes with my WiFi connection. I tought at first that it might be the internet connection but after a few days, it was so consistent that when I unplugged the headset (or the wireless dongle), my internet works flawlessly. The wireless headset seem to be clogging my WiFi connection.So if you are planning to use this with a WiFi connection at your home, think twice.p/s I tought again that my wireless mouse might has caused the "clogging" but it does not. I turned off the mouse and I still have a clogged connection.Fix This Plantronics and you got a buyer!

This is a great set of wireless headphones. I had a pair of the Plantronics 590A bluetooth headphones, but they were discontinued, and I was looking for a second pair for the office and I settled on this set. They are comfortable, and I really like the fact that it charges via USB. A slight disadvantage not to use Bluetooth and have a separate USB dongle, but not a huge issue. My main problem with this set is that it is advertised as being great for voice applications. However, this headset DOES NOT support sidetones. What is sidetone you might ask. When you talk in a phone, you actually hear your voice coming back to you in the earpiece. This is especially important with headphones that totally cover the ear. Without sidetone, you feel like you are talking in a vacuum, and until you are used to it, you're never sure if folks are hearing you.

UNFORTUNATELY I GOT A D.O.A. AND I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A GOOD HEADSET. I WENT WITH THE FIRST DECENT THING I COULD GET BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I WAS A GIFT FOR A FRIEND AND I HAD BARELY RESEARCHED SIMILAR ITEMS. SHE HAD IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND SAID IT WOULDN'T WORK, SO AFTER TRYING ALL THE TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS IN THE MANUAL I WENT WITH THE "RETURN TO STORE" OPTION. LUCKILY AMAZON HAS A GOOD RETURN POLICY. ANYWAY I KNOW THIS ISN'T MUCH OF A REVIEW, SO JUST MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH YOUR ELECTRONIC ITEMS AND REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

I bought these towards the end of my tour in iraq. I wish i had gotten them sooner. The sound is awesome, they are comfortable, and the range is pretty good. plus no chord wrapping itself around you. The only thing i have is that the bluetooth receiver that plugs into the computer could be smaller but then you would probably lose it faster, I haven't lost mine yet.

I've used these for 4 mos and overall am very impressed... great sonic range, quality mic, comfy to wear for over an hour and decent battery life to boot. My biggest gripe is not being able to charge and talk. After a SKYPE call, I find myself switching to iTunes and never taking them off. Build quality seems good enough to last for awhile. I'm happy.
