camera is good I wasn't expected to be so professional. which is not in compare with my other cameras. but if you are looking for a semi-pro camera with most possible professional features I offer this one.

I bought this camera used with the 18-105 Nikkor lens for $675. Since this camera is discontinued, it is not worth as much any more. Finding decent cameras like this for under $700 is really hard but well worth it. The only downside to this camera is video. It can only take 5 minute 720p videos at a time.

i have had this camera almost 2 years and it has been very good to me. recently added the d800 to my collection but still keep this one on hand for an extra body. over 27,000 actuations with the shutter and still going stong as it is rated til 90,000 i believe. only wear and tear showing is the rubber grip on the back is peeling off.

After researching different cameras offered by Canon and Nikon, I chose the D90. It's proven to be an excellent choice. I bundled it with the 18-105 instead of the smaller lens it comes with. The wide angle lens provides opportunities for some amazing landscape shots. The camera is full of features, one better than the other. Every button is where it should be. The continuous shooting mode on this camera is amazing. There is no comparison with the much more expensive cameras for a frame or two more per second. It's proven to be an excellent motorsport and airshow camera to say the least!

I just bought a used D90. I had some decent lenses already.I love this camera. I think a very motivated beginner could take this on as their second, maybe first, camera. I also bought D90 for Dummies.There are some weird things that are hard to figure out.1) The message when you don't have a card in is cryptic. I had to look in the book and/or google to figure out what the message was referring to. Try your camera with card in and card out so you see this message and recognize it the next time.2) With some lenses, the lens must be down to its smallest aperture before you attach it to the camera. failing to do this gives you a flashing "fEE" message that is not mentioned in the Dummies book, as far as I can tell.

I use this camera about every weekend and sometimes during the week and I LOVE IT. Of course if I had the money I would either get the 700 or the D3X (I upgraded to this from a Canon 20D). Though this is an amazing camera, but is outdated compared to the D5100 which has higher MP (which is quite noticeable),a lower cost (due in part to not having an internal autofocus motor), and it does not have video capability. I have not used the video function on the camera because I find it absurd as buying a video camera with a feature to take photos....it makes zero sense. To reiterate what I said, yes it is a great camera, but not for the value and you'll be better off with some of Nikons other DSLR's.

I replaced a Canon 40D two years ago, with the Nikon D90 and it is awesome! I bought this camerea 9on Amazon) on 12/26/2009 and have been clicking away for two years.I had owned a few Canon's before and even had some L glass (a good Canon lens) but pictures of my toddlers were seldom in focus, unless using the f1.8 50mm "nifty fifty" lens, which is limited indoors, due to the crop factor and how far you have to stand back.After discovering kenrockwell.com, I bought into the notion that Nikon's autofocus was built for people, espically moving toddlers indoors.I bought the D90 and the 18-200mm lens (along with the F1.8 35mm prime lens for portraits and I got a comparable SB-600 flash kit to the one I had with Canon.I have become a much better photographer as a result. Nikon's autofocus and the DX family of lenses designed around the crop sensor camera is genius.Canon is great for point and shoot or still shots of mountains, but if you want to take pictures of kids, get a Nikon.

About 3 years ago I purchased the D90 with the 18-105mm lens at bestbuy for $999. This is a near perfect camera for me and the results are always outstanding. I'm not at all tempted to spend thousands of dollars to purchase a fixed range camera with additional memory card slot, more megapixels or video functions I will never use. I have around 15,000 shots on the camera and it's never gives me any issues and works just as good as when I purchased it. I will use this camera until it breaks or I loss it...hopefully many years to come. My money goes towards glass since that's what really improves my pictures. You can't go wrong buying the D90 while they are still available. Good luck.

I bought a D3100 as my first DSLR and have had it just over a year. I love it but feel I have quickly outgrown it, (many years ago I had a couple of Minolta 35mm's). I keep reading all the latest reviews and thought of upgrading to the D5100, but that one still doesn't seem to be quite up to par with the trusted D90. For now I plan on getting the D90 (possibly refurbished) and keeping the D3100 as a back-up. Then save my money to put toward a D7100?

Have been using for 2.5 years. It has served very well in multiple trips including international trips. I have used with 50 mm, 18-200, 10-24 and 70-300 lenses. There are so many controls and features that I am constantly learning. I used to be a equipment guy changing cameras often. In the past 3 years I have stopped that habit and trying to stick to one camera. D90 is so advanced that it wont be outdated soon. It is solid and rugged. There are several resources and [...] is a wonderful website for like minded individuals. It is fast and snappy. Very happy with its performance.

The D90 is like a computer with a lens. I don't know if I will ever get to use all the features this camera has. The in-camera editing capabilities are fantastic. I purchased this camera to capture memories of my family vacation in Europe. My results were so outstanding that I've been asked to tkae pictures for many friends and relatives for their personal events. My skills with the camera are reasonable, but this camera makes me a better photographer!

Ok...I read some reviews about this camera, and was disheartened. I should have posted sooner. The err message that comes up with this camera can be taken care of if you follow the directions. I had the same problem. I was in D.C. taking pictures and had a great shot with the right light and everything, but did not get it. My camera locked up. I tried taking the battery out and replacing it. However, this did not work either. I took it back to the camera shop I bought it and they gave me the phone number to Nikon customer service. As a matter of fact, I talked to Nikon customer service while in the store. Nikon was VERY helpful. They told me to disconnect my lens and put it back on. VOILA!!! My camera worked again. I came to learn, through reading the manual, that this camera I had bought has a VR switch with the lens. The manual says you MUST turn the VR switch on/off while the camera power is ON. If you do not do this, you will have the problems mentioned throughout the negative reviews. Although I paid for a VR lens, and never use it now because of this glitch, I am quite pleased with my photography. I have never taken such great pictures (well I have just did not get a camera to give me the results the Nikon D90 Have). So, yes there is a problem and yes I do not use the VR feature, however I have been taking some excellent pictures since discovering this and have never had the err problem since!!

I purchased this camera after being a Nikon D40z owner for several years. I work at a photography studio, where we use Nikon D200. As of now, I finally could afford something better, than the D40x. However, since the D200 is a bit outdated as of now I didn't want to go that route. The D90 was a great set between the D40x and a D300- which I aspire to get in the the near future. It has a built in motor, so all AF nikon lenses are compatible, which was a nightmare with my D40x. I'm happy with this purchase. Also, its really great in lowlight situations!

This camera is well built, with every option at your fingertips, great viewfinder and high speed shooting, been using it over a year, no complaints.

The experience of the D90 has been a great one so far. An avid D60 user though i am, it seems the D90 has taken precedence in my judgement of handling. D90 has proven to me to be much faster and the handling is better than i had anticipated. I only wish it had the vivid settings as there is in the D60. No challenged so far as over one year of use with this superb equipment i have been able to manipulate the camera settings though absolutely expelling the use of auto mode, the camera operates as i want it to. in comparison to newer versions of nikon cameras i am concluding that the D90 is in my opinion the next best entry level camera to the full frame and professional level camera family. The D90 has no competition in the DX class no matter how much pixels are pumper into the others. So my next experience should be the Nikon of either D700 or cameras from the D3X and D3S as the others based on my reviews are for users who are enthusiastic about learning photograpy. I consider this camera a classic. It lets you take control over the parameters and then it gets out of your way. Ergonomics is great.The 12M sensor is large enough for most people's needs. The AF is fast and accurate (most of the time). Images have a certain vibrancy and class built-in. It makes ugly and messy objects look nice, what can I say.No wonder the price has increased since I bought it from Amazon.

I am a photographer and needed a new camera when my Canon died in the middle of a wedding shoot. Luckily I had a backup camera but I wanted another camera incase the same thing happened again for whatever reason. After reading reviews I purchased this camera and two new lenses. Since I purchased the camera I have read various forums on it.While others said they had error messages or issues with the lenses locking correctly, I have not had any of these issues. My lenses have been secure and I have not received any error messages. With most cameras I realize that the body is important but in reality it is the lens that makes the camera. Nikon has some of the best lenses so I invested in the D90. I love it. I haven't had any issues with it other than it being a little heavy at times. I attribute the heaviness to the weight of the lenses as well. I take this camera everywhere I go and it hasn't let me down yet.Few things to note:- GREAT Battery Life!- Great basic body (saves money... so you can spend the rest of the money on lenses)- Can be used professionally or for fun- Easy to use

I searched awhile for the perfect camera. I researched a Pentax K7 and it has a ton of good reviews too and is weather tight which was something I was interested in, but from a couple reviews I read, it seems like too complicated so I searched out other cameras. I looked into Canon, as well the Nikon D5000. The D5000 was my last choice up against the D90. I am soooo glad I paid the little bit of extra and went with the D90. There are so many more nice features, and one of my favorites is the info screen on the top deck, boy is this a nice feature to have. You get to see all your setting as well and manipulate them while viewing what you're doing. The pictures look amazing. The pictures look very professional! The other thing I love is the 3" screen with live view. The picture is so vivid and stunning, crisp and clear.The D90 is far superior to the D5000. The D5000 looks and feels a bit cheap next to the D90. I also love the hand grip, it fits right there in your hand so you get a nice solid grip on it.I am not by any means a camera pro, nor am I even a semi pro. Although the closest I came so far was having a Kodak Easy Share and this took great pictures but I wanted more. I wanted to have the pictures I see people taking of their kids and I want my pictures to be that great. So here I am with my own DSLR and I love it! Expensive? Yes but I got a great deal and got free shipping. (newegg).Sorry to say I bought elsewhere than from Amazon, although Amazon is my favorite place to shop.Be careful searching out cheaper places as some sell just the camera body with no lens.I had called Nikon and asked them if this camera would be too complicated for anewby, and they told me this is a great camera to start out with. You can set it on auto and shoot away and get terrific pictures, and learn as you go. Why start out on an entry level if you plan to do more later, you won't have to upgrade the body! I am learning new things every time I use the D90. get one, you will love it!

The Nikon D90, beat my expectations in a 150%. The video quality is amazing. Is a very usefull camera for night events. I recommend using the Nikkor 18-105mm lens with a 55-200mm lens. If you can afford for a 18-200mm lens, you'll have the greater experience taking a big variety of pictures.With the Nikon D90, photography is not just taking pictures, is an Art!

After selling my Olympus Evolt E500 8MP Digital SLR with 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 & 40-150mm f/3.5-4.5 Zuiko Lenses I wanted to upgrade to a better camera. Well, I found it!! The D90 doesn't seem to even let you take a bad picture. I am purely an amateur, but know a good picture when I see one. Immediately I noticed it was a good deal larger than the Olympus, and the manual was so much easier to understand. The Olympus sometimes just would not take a picture if the light was low no matter how many times you pushed the button, even on manual. It was so frustrating. This camera takes great shots even in low light.I also bought the Zeikos ZE-NBG90 Battery Power Grip for Nikon D80 & D90 to go with this camera so I would have plenty of battery life. This accessory does make the camera a lot bulkier, but I think it's worth it. I also bought an extra battery to have that gets stored in the grip and ready for when needed.I am still learning the ins and outs of this camera and trying to accustom myself to all of the things it can do. But, even if I left it in auto mode it takes outstanding pictures. I can't wait to try it for my kids' soccer games to see how the speed compares to the Olympus. I have the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras on order and can't wait to try it on the D90!! Luckily the D90 has it's own built in motor so almost any lens will work with it...which is a plus!I highly recommend this camera to anyone, from the novice to the expert.

It is much easier to access features on this camera over the D40, making the D90 more user friendly. Picture quality is very good and I've been pleased with the camera overall.The only negative of this camera is that there is a memory card/card reader problem. There is an error that will appear randomly and if you do a search you will discover that the D90 has trouble with reading/writing to the memory card. Sometimes it's an intermittent problem. Sometimes it requires the camera to be serviced. Sometimes it seems to be an issue where the D90 doesn't like certain brands of SD cards. There is no clear consensus as to what exactly is wrong but the fact is a fair number of D90 users report memory card errors. I've had this issue once. The camera, just a few months old, wouldn't take a picture and "CHA" was displayed as an error message. I turned the camera off and removed the memory card, reinserted the memory card and powered the D90 back up and it worked fine. Hope this isn't a continuing issue. Other than that the camera is great!
