I love, love, love this camera! It is my first DSLR and I couldn't be happier with it. It takes amazing pictures, the 18-105 lens is perfect for what I wanted so I really don't ever need to change it. I found that having the wheel on the top is necessary, I wouldn't purchase a camera without that feature. I have used the video on it once or twice but it's not great so don't buy it for that.

I bought this camera a month ago. though my 1st camera had some kind of black tiny piece stuck on the camera mirror inside the body which prompted me to exchange it from Amazon for another one. I have to say the exchange process was seamless and very simple. Within 2 days i got my new camera and sent back my old one.Overall it is a great camera , i have so far taken 400+ pics with this camera while traveling in Europe and it has been fantastic. I m just a regular guy who loves photography but hadn't had the time to learn it. I have had old SLR 35 mm film camera before as well as have owned Canon DSLR XT camera which i sold a while ago. I did a lot of research on which camera to buy and had only few basic simple criterias1. camera for a long run i.e. atleast should take me 3-5 years.2. Camera with a good lens with a higher range. for me 18-55 mm is not enough and i do not want to carry additional lenses .3. Fast frames per secAs an amateur, both Canon & Nikon entry level cameras are great. My personal view is Nikon body & lens build is much better. Also i like the plastic display cover that fits on the preview 3 inch screen which protects it from scratches. I love my Nikon D90.Also, i was amazed by the quality of the pic which i took in pitch dark room, was just trying to see how well it does in low lighting situations. it blew me away on the quality of the pics.Overall a great value for your money.

I am a novice in photography and after investigating enough in diferent sites, I decided bought the D90; although apparently is a model of the 2008, Is a very complete camera for novices as I. You cannot disappoint with this purchase; since the moment that begin to investigate all the functions, give you account that is very easy to know it and to learn; add a reading minutes pair of its manual and already can begin to use it in other different ways to the "Auto" with surprising results. In terms of image quality, is excellent: quantity of details and precision of the color.

Hi everybody,I must say that I had many sleepless nights reading, researching about this camera body. I've upgraded from a D60 and for a lot of time I was very much in doubt if it worth it since the other one is a sweet camera also (with its limitations, of course). I have it already for 3 months and I love it! Simply, just love it.The placement of the buttons is great, the menus are intuitive, the hi iso is just impressive, the functionality is really tuned to give you best experience. Recently I've made a studio photoshoot and posted results on my bolg [...]. As you'll see, the results are comparable with what you'll get from a D3, D700, D300s.... The only differences appears when the light gets bad and you need to raise the ISO. But even than, the result can be quite usable at lets say ISO 3200.As for video, it's a nice feature. It offers a good quality and if you know it's limitations you'll achieve nice results.Overall, I'd buy it one more time if I'll need it and it's a great camera!I'd make a small recommendation re the lens. I've researched and also tested couple options starting with the Nikkor 18-105VR kit lens, 18-135 and 18-200VR. I take a lot of street photography which means I'll be holding the camera for long periods o time in my hand and for this I need a relatively light system. Having said that, I also need to mention all the above mentioned lenses offer a good quality overall. My pic is the 18-135! It's amazingly sharp, it's compact and it's extremely versatile. A good place to find it is Adorama. They sell it refurbished by Nikon USA for a very good price.The best setup would be: D90, 18-135 Nikkor, 50mm 1.8 (for low light situations and portraits), SB 600 Nikon, Crumpler 5 million bag and the Lensbaby composer (for exotic stuff)

So far I'm loving this camera, it's quiet, it takes great images, the colors on pictures really stand out. I love photography so reading other reviews, I decided to get this camera as my first DSLR and so glad I did! though I'm still learning all its tricks and buttons can't wait to see all its potential.

Had the D90 about 6 months and am very impressed. Even with the standard (28-70mm) Sigma lens it came with, it takes amazing pictures. I finally upgraded to a Tamron DiII AF 18-250mm Aspherical Macro Lens. Wow! Nice wide angle and incredible zoom capability. This lens is a must have. Once you snap it on, you will never take it off. It was listed @ $899. I Picked it up at the CameraBox.com for $249.99. I am not an employee of that company or related to it in anyway. I just want to share the location with the Nikon Nation so they don't overpay somewhere else :)

This is truly a photographer's camera, easy access of dial and buttons to avoid any delay in shooting. Picture quality is great for this level of SLR. Once you have the D90, it's going hard to switch to a different SLR. The only con is the lens, I had a few error message when I first started shooting, and later found out it is actually the plstic mount of the lens that cause the error. However the problem soon resolved shortly after the first 200 shots. So if you're looking for a more portable or metal mount lens, it'll be best to purchase the body. Besides that little problem with lens, this camera is truly a genius design.

D90 is one of the most popular models for Nikon.The reason was clearly evident when i saw it for the first time.The picture quality is far better than the other DSLRs,Initially, we might get bit confused seeing all those cumbersome menus and buttons, but You can start off with basic settings and gradually understand the other stuffs and implement it. It is amazing to see how realistic the picture looks from D90.I would recommend it to all people who are willing to convert photography from just a hobby to serious hobby and maybe a career.And for people new to DSLRs, there are lot of videos on youtube and around, which tells us the exact functionality and working of the camera. And it helps a lot.

Bought this around Halloween and have been shooting every day. This is my first DSLR and am moving up from a full body point and shoot. If you are looking for image quality in this price range, I don't think you will find anything better. I did a lot of research before I bought this and checked many picture on internet sites and this camera by far has the highest image quality detail. I like shooting birds in flight and the level of detail is phenomenal. I am just an amateur but have had people awed by the picture this camera can produce.

I am still learning many of the features of this unit.This is a solid unit. While it may not be as light asothers, the platform is stable and the results areamazing.I very much enjoy using this unit, so far for three weeks.More to come.

I only used this camera with the 18-55 vr and the 50mm f/1.8. I had a nikon d5000 before and the picture quality was much sharper. The colors were similar. I recently sold this camera and anyone thinking of buying this should get the d5000 or the d7000 over this. The colors are usually a bit dull. Since shoot in raw the picture modes dont matter. I am upgrading to the d700. If you look closely at the sample images on the d90 you can see where this camera struggles with oranges and reds. The blues and greens are excellent

This is the first DSLR that I've owned, and it was really easy to learn how to take great photos on the manual settings. The kit lens is fairly good but an upgraded lens is always a plus. I also recommend getting Ken Rockwell's userguide off his website. Fantastic pictures, good price.

The lens has a plastic connector piece. The cheap quality of the mounting plate causes lens problems.My lens plate broke and won't mount back on the camera.

This camera is simply wow!Every time I use this, I find a new feature.I have had it for a month now and it takes the best pictures ever...Simply wow!I am a new DSLR user and I had no issues learning a few tricks

I upgraded from my Nikon D70 to D90 -- I shot over 4000 pictures using my D70 in Europe alone; had purchased other higher end Nikon lens so decided to go with the D90. I didn't believe the video feature was significant but soon find out that even it is not the best video camera in the world (no way...), however, because it has the video capability that's good enough, it helped me captured many important moments of my children. I matched this D90 with the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 zoom most of the time and found it a great match. The only complain I have is the optic plus the body is a little heavy, more heavier if I attached the Nikon S600 flash. However, I rather to be ready to take beautiful pictures than have a nice pocket-able camera that takes too long to fire up each shot and ended up missing them (the moving subjects).Nice camera...

I spent some time evaluating the various Nikon's (D90, D3000, D5000 and Canon equivalents) and settled for the D90. Ergonomically it is a larger body so my hands fit well without being much heavier.I shoot in manual mode so changing settings is a snap. Buttons versus menus for example changing ISO settings or white balance

The D90 has the software and hardware to make any decent photographer look like a professional. While others can comment more about the technical aspects, I can tell you I only need to focus on how to set up my shots versus tinkering with the settings to pull off great photos. Set it to the applicable dial setting and run with it. Of course if you want to do more manual settings, you can.I would recommend getting a flash like the Nikon SB-600 to help with indoor shots since the on-board flash (like all on-board flashes)can create strange shadows. If you can't spring for one, just tape an index card to the flash as a diffuser.If you are looking for a great camera that is easy to use, this is the one for you.ON THE OTHER HAND...DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE HD VIDEO CAPACITY. It is a cool little feature, but your average point-and-click probably produces better HD videos. The video quality is great on the D90, but the focus is a HUGE problem. If you are focusing on something that does not move toward or away from you very much, then it works. Other than that, forget capturing a quality movie. Because I bought it for the camera function, the HD video aspect was a bonus.

I purchased this camera after using a Nikon F3HP for over 30yrs, My F3 never let me down and this New D90 won't either. I am thouroughly impressed with it performance, I was going to buy the D300, but opted for the 90 after talking with some fellow Photographers, have A friend that has the 90 and he definitely is not gentle with it, but it contiues to perform flawlessly in all weather and conditions. Can't believe the D7000 will replace it, I hope they don't quit making the D90, I plan on using mine indefinitely.

This camera offers a lot of possibilities for people interested in improving their photography skills. By default, the pictures turn out amazing and with a little more knowledge about the camera functions they will be even better. You need to be interested in semi-professional photography otherwise this model is a waste of money.

Absolutely Great camera. This is THAT simple. No need to say anything else!I con: video quality is extremely poor, my iPhone 4 shoots many times better quality video in fact.But I don't care, as I don't need this option in DSLR Camera. So I still give 5 Stars!

I have owned Nikons since 1969 have had Nikon Ftn ,Nikkormat ,2002 6006 n8008,n90s , d70s, d80 , d200 d300 d90 and d700 . This one has been the worst of all ,its in the shop again for red specks on the sensor and the auto focus stopped working altogether . Then Nikon quotes me 211 bucks to fix the red specks and doesnt even mention the autofocus problem , this is this cameras second trip back to Nikon ? What happened to the legendary quality ?? we own 7 nikons and a dozen lenses , but Im looking at canon for the first time ever ,and nikon has yet to get me a correct quote ,let alone the camera back to me

I was so tired of junky point & shoot cameras! The batteries were always dead, and when they did work, they take too long to startup and the pictures were terrible to boot. I purchased the D90 because I wanted to best. Price is an indicator of quality, and you truly get what you pay for.The D90 is my first DSLR camera. I am a complete newbie and have no idea what it takes to make a good picture. I have been using it in auto-mode, and the pictures coming from it are stunning. I'm starting to learn the menus and other features, so far so good. Some of the high points of this camera are:*Excellent quality kit lens*Awesome 3" LCD screen*Excellent battery life*In-Camera picture editing*Quick button access to many functions without going through menus*Startup is *instant**Shooting is incredibly fast - ready for another shot almost instantly*Easy enough for a newbie, enough features for a pro.There are only a few negatives I can think of which are:*Big, heavy camera*Requires a commitment to learn the DSLR system*Auto focus in LiveView mode is too slow*No auto focus in movie mode*Makes you want to buy other stuff like tri-pods camera bags, and extra lenses :-)I spent a lot of time researching before deciding on the D90. The D90 is a bit spendy, but I think it's worth it. Buy the best the first time, and you won't have to upgrade later.

purchased almost a year ago and do range of outdoor shots from full sun to in the middle of the night and I have yet to be disappointed. Previous camera was Nikon film camera N65 which feels dinky and cheap compared to this one.I have banged it up a bit hiking too and have not had any issues. The quality is good enough I can see some faults with my old 70-300 mm lens (not a nikon lens). One thing i have not used is the video feature, but the live view works good when it is bright enough out. I never use it when i plan to do long night exposures out of habit so am not sure if the "job nr" will take care of any noise created from sensor heating due to having the LCD on.bythom DOT com has some excellent info on this and other Nikon cameras.

Bought this with a 18-200mm VR II nikkor (4/5 stars for that BTW) Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Nikkor Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon DX-Format Digital SLR Cameras and have not been disappointed in the least!For a DSLR, it has pretty easy controls. Once you familiarize yourself with the camera and the features you are good to go. Switching between modes and changing settings is a breeze. Pretty good retouch features too..
