I work as a freelance photographer occasionally shooting weddings and events.The images produced by this camera are beautiful. I highly recommend this camera as an upgrade from any of the lower nikon models including the d80.The pros: Great image quality. Good in low light (some reviews have said that this is a problem with the d90, I do not agree with them.) Auto Focus is fast and accurate. Great battery life (really impressive) It makes you want to hold it even when there are no pictures to take.Cons: Video without auto focus is kind of lame. Limited video time. But video is not very important to me.As a camera 5 stars. As a video camera 1 star.

I have had several expensive digital cameras, but this is my first digital SLR. Simply put, I am blown away with how fantastic the pictures are and how easy/intuitive the D90 is to use. I ordered it from Amazon with the 18-200 VR lens for total just under $1500. You don't need an expensive camera to take great pictures, but if you can afford it the D90 is simply outstanding. Worth every penny...

This is an amazing camera! I have been wanting to upgrade to a SLR for a while, and well. I've had this camera for two days, and in total love with it! It's easy to navigate and easy to operate.All in all. A wonderful camera. That anyone will love.

While this camera is getting old (I've had mine for 4 years and it was hardly new then), and it's megapixel count is low by today's standard, don't let that fool you. The D90 has been a great and reliable camera for me. I have shot thousands of picture and have yet to have any issues with its quality. Like any DSLR, the pictures you get often depend mostly on the user and somewhat more on the glass than on the body itself. When looking at the body, look at the features, functionality, and ergodynamics first. All of those I love. While I'm planning on upgrading to an FX frame in the near future, I intend to keep my D90 as a back up or lighter option when needed.The most important feature on the D90 compared to modern entery level DSLRs in the same price range, in my opinion, are the manual dials. This allows the photography to make quick and easy adjustments when in a manual mode without pulling the view finder from your eye. Newer similarly priced DSLRs have regulated all of these tools to the LCD menus. While this can suffice for many people, if you are like me and want a quick way to adjust settings when shooting, the D90 is wonderful.

This is an older model, but still meets my expectations, I don't mind the video capabilities on an DSLR so I don't care much about the 720 hd resolution.The 12 mp is another thing I don't mind, I have printed up to 12x18 without a problem, I'm no pro photographer so I don't think I'm going to be doing larger prints, and as I always shoot raw o don't think I'm going to have problems if I try to print a little bigger.The iso settings are not that great as nowadays cameras, but still the dynamic range and low light pictures are good to me, I try to take at iso 1600 max, maybe at3200 from time to and still get good results.Overall this is a good camera, and very cheap too if you buy it new, compared to the entry level, the 3000 series, even the 5000 series, I think this is a best camera, I'd only consider others if I wanted other stuff like the wifi connectivity or the gps integrated into the 5300, or maybe the panorama thing un the 3300, consider also that this camera can use older lensesin aauto focus mode, so I don't caretoo much aabout those other things, this is still a good capable camera that for me has better quality that today's entry level ones.

Everything about the D90 was perfect except for the fact that when I received it, the serial number tab on the bottom was missing. Al the seller did was apologize. I could not register my nikon for insurance purposes because of that. But other than that, the dslr works perfectly. I will be upgrading in about a year or so but until then, I highly recommend this camera to the beginner, hobbyist, amateur, and the photographer who is ready to transition to the realm of being a professional. I purchased this to give my D80 a rest or to have my D80 as a back up. I don't regret this purchase. It does what I want it to do and I like small dslr cameras (I am a traveling professional). I have other DSLR cameras but I usually use these even with weddings (weight reasons and size). It's better for mobility and endurance.

This camera was my first foray into the world of digital SLRs after many years of film photography. I have owned this camera since 2007 and it has not let me down. I choose it over other popular Nikon's at the time for a few reasons. I had been looking at the D300 and this seemed to be a superior camera in every way. It's lighter, has the same or better image quality, and has all the features you could ask for. While it is not a full frame SLR (and that is something on my wish list) it does take wonderful photos. I have used it for weddings, engagement and maternity portraits as well as some event photography. It has a good battery life, but I do always carry a backup just in case. I enjoy being able to continue shooting without having to worry about changing film. A large memory card is highly recommended with this camera. It has the ability to shoot high quality JPEG, RAW, or both at the same time. My loyalty to Nikon for many years has not wavered and they didn't let me down with this camera. I'll be sticking with them for years to come.

By now everyone knows this camera takes marvelous photographs and not too good video. So if you want a camera with 5 year ago technology at less than half the price, this camera is for you.If you want great video, get ready to pay for newer technology.

Some times this camera misses pixels and when your going back to edit you can clearly see a missing pixel or three i miss my Nikon D3100. Why is this one more expensive you ask. well its probably because of the lens which is pretty good the lens is great but tech of this cam could use a few improvement when it comes to shooting against black backdrops other then those minor details the camera is great and i wouldn't want to dis persuade anyone from buying it . it is definitely a great but but Nikon has this issues with some of its cameras some times just pointing that out its not the first time I've come across this problem when using a Nikon.

As, due to finances, am always a generation behind as well as used, I finally got to get a modern sensor. The high ISO performance is incredible. 8-) Live view is VERY handy with all my major neck issues. ISO 1600 is really clean, and, with my Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AF lens, rarely need to go higher. ISO 3200 is actually cleaner than ISO 1600 was on the D80. 8-) Sure, it's not the newest on the block, it's leaps and bounds above the D8-, and finally became affordable used! 8-)

The build quality of the camera is excellent and despite not having "weather sealing" officially on its specs it withstood inclement weather including rain and snow with great fanfare.The picture quality is excellent - very sharp with great color fidelity and enormous potential for customization. The only detractors are the hefty weight especially with the kit lens and the not so fast and often erroring auto-focus - especially on portraits.Some of button placement and operation requires some hand and finger gymnastics but otherwise the controls are easy to operate and all at your fingertips.With the separate screen on the top (backlit on demand), the camera can take thousands of pictures and can be kept for weeks at a time without being recharged.The kit lens is very good, albeit its expanded range hurts it minimum focusing distance abilities but that is just an unfortunate side effect.There camera is not without some little nuisances here and there - it did stop responding a couple of times and also there is a well-known issue with Error appearing on the top of the LCD preventing the camera operation. The Error on top usually indicates that either flash media is not present or loose connection between the lens and the body. Readjusting the lens on the body clears up the error.One reason that I specifically waited for D90 was its video abilities, which are present but were clearly not up to the par just yet. D90 was one of the first DSLR's to get the video capability, but there is no autofocus, the codec is poor, the auto aperture adjustment is terrible, the sound is monaural, the choices of resolutions are limited and so forth. If that is important D90 is not the camera to get. The entry level Canon T3i video output was very good on the other hand. Was because there are much newer and more sophisticated cameras on the market today.

Have used some compact digitals before but this is my first DSLR. I chose this body because I am able to use all my old AF film lenses with it. I went from a film body (Nikon N80) to this and the basic photo controls are all quite familiar. The other functions relating to its being a DIGITAL camera are fairly well explained between the in-camera help and the included manual. I downloaded a .pdf copy of the manual from the Nikon site because it's easy to search with computer or tablet. Also there are a multitude of third party web guides and reviews available for help with this camera.I seldom if ever use the video feature but for someone who may be planning on that you may wish to go with one of the more modern model bodies. Even the newer so called "lower" consumer bodies has better and easier to use video recording functions.Also worth noting, if you want to crop out and make really BIG blow ups a lot of your photos, you may want something with a bit higher pixel count.

I received the camera just a few days after placing the order instead of the several weeks I was expecting! It was in excellent condition and works perfectly. I have another D90 and wanted a backup. This fits the bill and I am 100% pleased with both the camera and the service.

I have owned the Nikon D90 for over 4 years now, and have taken over 9,000 pictures with it. I would recommend it to anyone as their first DSLR camera. It was easy to learn, and you can grow your interest in digital photography, as it has all the manual controls.
