Unit was easy to set up, then started losing internet connection in irregular intervals after about two weeks and then became totally unreliable. After spending approximately 3 hours on 3 different calls with Netgear tech service reps, installing new firmware, etc., they issued an RMA as the product was found to be defective. I was told that I have to pay for shipping the defective unit and, if I need a replacement unit shipped to me before they receive the defective product, would have to pay even more (the equivalent cost of a cheaper wireless router!). I bought this product because we need a reliable router. Now I am several days to several weeks without a router depending on the speed of the Netgear return service - and have to pay for the replacement of a defective unit that is still under warranty! I cannot recommend this product and should have considered that there are about 20% of 1-star reviews on all websites that sell this product!

I've owned four of these for over two years now -- two new ones and two refurbished. I am told that the initial revision had a problem with the power supply either shorting or damaging the unit, but I've been fortunate and have had no problems with either of my new units.Dual band is without a doubt the way to go if you're tired of poor wireless performance and disconnects in an area of high wireless network density. I've used this as both an access point and a router extensively and briefly as a wireless bridge. In all applications I can't recall a major problem that I've had with the box.A small thing I dislike about the unit is how bright the blue light is on the top, button but this can easily be turned off by holding down the button for one second and releasing it.Another mistake I made in configuring the unit was when I went through disabling unnecessary services. I turned off QoS and WMM support and didn't realize that this causes the router to limit connections to 54Mbps. Be aware of this behavior and keep on QoS and WMM prioritization if you want to use higher bit-rates (up to 300Mbps link speed).Of course as all wireless networks go the performance isn't quite up to that of a wired ethernet connection, but for typical home use the connection quality is excellent. I've also used the router with two client PCs running BitTorrent on a very high speed connection with an extremely high number of allowed connections and I didn't have the router drop my link as I've experienced with other routers including some of Netgear's past offerings.Overall this router has been an excellent value for my purposes.

I replaced my Netgear Wireless N 150 Router WNR 1000v2 and I must say the wireless speed seems greater. The range also appears to have increased which is why I bought this router. Although I am having trouble connecting my other wireless camera my ipod shows the wifi is reaching he outside area. In all a good buy.

Much faster internet seeds after upgrade from N600 to this model. Easy to set up and connect all done in 15 minutes. Signal strength vastly improved. We have multiple i Phones(3), Computers(3), wireless printer and TV connected without issue and download and upload speeds best ever.

I have just gotten this router in the mail couple days ago now. i must say, it is a great wireless router. gigabit ethernet and wifi...can't go wrong. range is very good. im very happy with this router. great for all the wireless devices i have. i dont know what people complain about the setup of it. connect it to the modem...wait for the router to kick on...reset the modem and BAM! it worked wonders.

Very strong signal Netgear r6300 is able to run my two Roku boxes, ps3, xbox 360 and all the other wifi devices that we have without missing a beat. The only negative side of device is the Netgear light aluminate always, it might burn out of eventually.

I live in a NYC apt and had trouble with consistent wifi signal on opposite sides of my apartment. I ordered the Netgear R6300 with hopes that it would have extended range and more consistent signal. The router was very easy to set up (it took about 5 mins) and worked right away. Within about 10 min I had our two laptops, our desktop and our iPhones connected. Immediately, I noticed the speed was faster and full strength throughout my whole apartment. It is definitely a great router. I am going to buy another one for my office.

I just bought this router for ONE reason...to have only 1 router to cover all the house...you're saying it has the ultimate range? what a lie! I have a DG834G - FIVE years old ADSL/modem-router by Netgear, and the wireless range is JUST the SAME!I'm taking this thing back!, if you're releasing a firmware just to fix the guest wireless issue..think again, the guest wireless is just a FEATURE..and it appears from our responses that there IS an issue with the range/coverage of this device...the range of this thing is hocus pocus..Taking this thing back!

The moden/router is working better then what I had prior. Installation was not easy, needed to get help on-line. I ended calling an 800 number to get help installing the moden, it cost me money. Happy now that is working.

netgear wireless router and modem works great .all the computers and game consoles work great on it . blueray player with wireless built in works for the first time .online movies download and play with no problem great product.

I pre-ordered and it came yesterday. The router lets you customize just about everything if you want to. WPS is also an option to keep things simple. It offers separate guest SSIDs that are isolated from your normal network on both frequencies. So in total you can have up to 4 SSIDs. I have both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz N devices but they only have 2 spatial streams. Coping a >900MB file from a 5 GHz client to a 2.4 GHz client averaged 4.72 MB/s effective (raw was up to 6000kbps) through at least two walls and a floor each way. The 2.4 GHz band here is very congested and it has to fight with at least two other networks on every channel. There has been no need to reboot so far and no anomallies (up time can be viewed). If I get around to it I will update the numbers with a 6300 in this laptop instead of the 2 stream only 2.4 GHz Atheros card.Update 4/21/2011:With the Intel 6300 this gets 450Mbps on 5GHz. Please be aware that 802.11n has a "good neighbor" policy where if other wireless routers are detected in the same or near by channel it will automatically limit itself to 144mbps. In 2.4GHz this means most of us will never see 300Mbps because of the other wireless routers near by. People wonder why most new routers aren't designed with 450Mbps on 2.4GHz, this is why. The 5GHz range is a different story since it has way more independent channels to work with.Update 4/25/2011:Intel 6300 -(2.4GHz)-> WNDR4000 -(5GHz)-> WET610N, it's averaging 7-8MB/s effective as reported by Windows 7's copy file dialog. The raw data rate at the adapter was 8MB/s+ reaching up to 10Mb/s at times. I live in a town home so losses may be worse in regular houses that are more spread out.Update 8/28/2011:The latest firmware version (1.0.0.66) is causing disconnects for some people's configurations, myself included. It also reboots the router every few days for no reason. I flashed back to 1.0.0.60. Check the 1.0.0.66 release thread on Netgear's support forum for more details.

It makes me laugh to read reviews in 'professional' magazines and sites which spend half the review discussing the casing and the LEDs. It's a router: You want to hide it in a corner and forget about it. A good router *lets* you forget about it. A bad router, like this one, is continually demanding attention. One day it was dropping wireless connections for no obvious reason. Another day it stopped handing out LAN IP addresses forcing me to manually assign them. Then the modem started randomly dropping connections and refusing to reestablish until I rebooted. Finally, it's missing static LAN IP assignment, which is a pretty basic feature and makes port-forwarding a bigger headache than it needs to be.I've had similar problems with a Netgear router before, and I can't believe I was dumb enough to buy Netgear *again*.

Impressed with this little guy - Im own so many brands the last being Belkin 750 which was a good router this one i think it little faster and feels snappy. GUI interface is easy and i like the features. Wireless is fast - my 802.11n network is faster then the Belkin was it keeps better signal waiting to get the 801.11AC adapter to take full advantage

The current firmware (1.0.0.18) appears to be broken. It regularly drops wireless connections, or worse - keeps your wireless device connected to the router, but with no connectivity to the internet or the rest of your network. Netgear appears to know about this issue (see their support forums: search for the thread "Lost Internet Connection Issues with 3800"). Very disappointing to have a wireless router that can't perform its most basic function correctly. Will update this review if a firmware fix comes out before my return period is over.UPDATE: Tried the V1.0.0.19-DNS firmware, which can be found in the comments. Kudos to Netgear for the responsive support. The -19 firmware is not a complete fix, however. While the connection to the router appears to be solid, I still experience internet dropouts on my wireless devices. These dropouts usually recover after a few seconds. This is an improvement over the -18 firmware, which could only be fixed with a power cycling or reboot of the router, but still not acceptable. Love the feature list of this router, but the features need to work... If you are looking to purchase this router, you might want to wait until it is a little more mature. After some additional research, this isn't the first Netgear router to have these kinds of issues.

The modem router was straightforward and easy to install. Make sure you have your PPPoE account password since this required as part of setup. The modem router works well and is fast.

This refurbished product is almost equal to the brand new one when I received. No problem to enjoy the full features of the N750 with big discount.One note is there is no serial number to register the product but no problem to download documents and update firmware. And no printed manual & SW CD but everything is available in netgear.com. Strong ecomendation.

This router is sincerely the easiest and fastest to set up and go.I had everything setup in no time about 10min with printer set up and everything and also on my phone too.It's a no brainier in getting this router if you are for fast speeds and easy set up I suggest to anybody to get this.

The DGN3500 worked fine for a few months. After I switched to a faster DSL service (ADSL2+ from Sonic.net) it developed stability problems: suddenly online videos stopped buffering after a few seconds, downloads would slow to a crawl and fail, etc.At first I thought my ISP was the problem. After a few calls and a visit from their tech people, it was clear that the phone line wasn't the problem.Additionally, I wanted to try doing a wireless "Time Machine" backup on my MacBook Air. The connection dropped after a while and the backup failed. Not a good sign for the router.I replaced the DGN3500 with a Cisco Linksys E2500 and a separate DSL modem. Now my YouTube videos buffer with no problems and my Time Machine backups work consistently. It's clear this NetGear piece of junk was the problem from the start.This isn't the first NetGear router I owned; it's actually the third. The other two didn't work particularly well either.Friends don't let friends by NetGear.

I concur with all the other reviewers, it's a great router. Went and looked at the Amazon and CNET reviews online and bought it on open box discount locally. Very easy network/user friendly install. You can use network Genie software that is provided or do it manually at 192.168.1.1. and/or routerlogin.netLots of options in the assorted set up screens. Guest network feature on 2.4 and 5 ghz is really nice so house guests can check email and not invade your main network hard drive.Both band are operational at all times.Getting 4 to 5 bars on the wireless all around the house which is up from 2 to 3 bars in some areas.....The DLink is an excellent router at 300+300 but I wanted the 450+450 on the Netgear.Latest bells and whistles seem to work nice......everything coupled to the TWC wideband internet 50gb down and 5gb up via the Motorola DOCIS 3.0 capable modem.By the way this 900 series is only about $20 more than the 600 series. Stay away from the 750 series, I was told they are having some firmware issues which will be repaired soon. I just don't want to be the crash test dummy if I can help it..............

Short and sweet, the Cadillac of routers! You will not be disappointed. Helped to test this router (received a free beta unit) and it performed beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this router and I plan buying one for my parents very soon.

I bought this NETGEAR DGN3500 to replace a 6 year old Westell brand unit that came with my account activation to BellSouth DSL service. The Westell was my first DSL wireless router, and I always thought that it was the DSL service that was poor. Nope, it was the POS router.The NETGEAR was SUPER easy to install. The install wizard made it so simple a child could have connected the hardware. The rest of the installation and setup was easy too. The only problem I had was that BellSouth provided their own Wireless Access software that started automatically at boot up. I had a conflict between the Windows wireless access manager and the BellSouth software. Two hours later, in an act of desperation I uninstalled the BellSouth software and ... VOILA! Everything works. Fast connectivity, web pages load quickly, and the signal strength is great, even in a large, segmented home. If not for the software connection issue, I would have been up and surfing in under 30 minutes from first peeling the cellophane off the box.Another nice thing that NETGEAR did was to include a .pdf version of the paper manual on the installation DVD. It was nice to be able to read the manual without the need for internet connectivity.I'm happy with the purchase. I would recommend to a friend and will buy more NETGEAR products based on this experience.

this unit was a nightmare and the customer service was even worse. It took almost an hour on the phone to get my WIRED desktop up and running with this router/modem. Half the time the netgear customer service agent couldn't understand my perfectly clear English which was very frustrating and the other half I couldn't understand his Indian accent. You know that annoying commercial on T.V. with the "my name is peggy" guy? Well that is what I felt like! Anyways I eventually got it setup no thanks to the Netgear agent, I just hung up on him. So all is good right? NOPE. random disconnects and every two and a half minutes my connect would drop to 0kbp/s so I looked up leasetime and it was set to ZERO. updated firmware, the whole nine yards nothing worked. yet my 4 year old router and modem work within 2minutes without any drops. all this for $130 ? hmmmm not worth it, I returned it. signal was decent when it worked and the transmission speed was good(when it worked)
