I've owned this router for about a year and it has performed well for me. My main computer is wired so I wouldn't notice every wireless glitch but when I have been wireless, it seems to work reasonably well. My wife and kid that use the wireless more often do complain a modest amount about losing connectivity.But the worst part is that I can no longer handle the ridiculous blue disco ball on top of it. You can temporarily turn it off by pushing on the ball, but it keeps turning itself back on, usually within about a day. In the evening and at night it reflects unwanted light all around my office, living room, and kitchen. I thought I was purchasing a router, not a 70's night club prop. The fact that I paid $100+ for this router only to realize that I'm now a victim of this stupid gimmick is infuriating. I can only assume that the entire design team at NetGear must prance around the office dressed up like the Village People singing YMCA since there is no other reason why anyone would think mounting a disco ball on a router was a good idea. Next time I'll have to find a router made by a company that takes its product design a little more seriously.

What I don't understand with my Netgear WNDR3300 is that why it cannot take signals when two wireless devices are connected to it. And I've got to live with the sporadic connections because the connections are really unpredictable. It works fine for hours together at times or has connection problems every 5-10 mins. And all this when my computer is in the same room as the router is. So it's anybody's guess how well it functions when I take it to the next room. The installation was not easy either. What frustrates me the most is that the internet browser stays freezed for a long time when I actually think its going to take me to another page! Rebooting is the only option in such times. The only thing good about this drive is the way it looks. Nothing else!

I bought this to replace a d link wired dsl modem that went belly up in less than a year. This was easy to set up and inexpensive costing roughly half what a d-link wireless modem cost. It was relatively easy to set up recognizing my isp in less than a minute. You will need att password and username. My biggest complaint has been with customer service. Calling them you get somebody in India. I only speak english and apparently not very well because I cannot understand most of what they are saying. A call to att of course is also routed through Delhi. I have sent three emails to netgear asking for a password reset none of which have been answered. Since getting dsl service through att I have gone through 3 modems. Don't know of the reliability of this one. I have had no dropouts or disconnects in the 3 weeks I have been using it. Amazon 2 day shipping was incredible!

This was simple to setup and install. I have had no problems with it what so ever, i have been streaming netflix on my ps3 and downlaoding at the same time, no glitchs or drops, i couldn't be happer

So far this router has worked better than I expected. I wanted to stream movies from NetFlix without interruption and that's what I got.

I'll try and keep this brief as I am so fed up with this piece of JUNK. I've been calling their tech support almost daily, as EVERY TIME I start my computer, I have NO INTERNET SERVICE. I've called so many times, I've memorized their run-through script. I have asked numerous times for a supervisor, yet they have NEVER transferred me to one. The problem, I explain isn't resetting my router and wireless, (which means connecting the ethernet in another room and wasting about 45 minutes), it's keeping it connected! They had me update the firmware today. Then they hung up WITHOUT MENTIONING THAT THE NEW FIRMWARE WOULD REQUIRE ANOTHER RESET OF ALL MY ROUTER DATA. So I called back. The rep explained that's what happened and walked me through the set-up for the millionth time. And guess what? My connection crashed 10 minutes after getting off the phone with her. They've promised a replacement if this happens again. Which I'm certain will be the case tomorrow. DO NOT BUY THIS WORTHLESS ROUTER!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR! Bonfire anyone? I'll provide the marshmallows!

I purchased this routed 'used' so I was expecting a few scratches etc on the casing. I was actually impressed how good the condition was externally. However, the previous owner had replaced the OEM firmware with an open source provider "dd-wrt" and I have been working for weeks now to restore it to the OEM version. No luck so far and I'm about to turn it into a boat archor. I think the firmware replacement should have been communicated. As it is, I feel like I bought someone else's problem that they couldn't fix. I won't buy "used" again and I'd seriously consider using Amazon again.

For a few years now we've been using the Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster with descent results if you were very close to the router and very below average results if you were more than a few hundred feet away from it or in a room with a closed door. Using it in a 2 story house was nothing short of a joke. We had to use a repeater if moving too far from the box and even that didn't work very well. When given the opportunity to try out and review the RangeMax WNDR3300 Dual Band Wireless-N Router, I jumped at the chance.The packaging was very self explanatory the directions were easy, step by step, very basic and did not require advanced knowledge at all. Please note that the three computers (2 laptops and one desktop) do not have a wireless N card. However for the purpose of the Vine Program, Netgear included a RangeMax WNDA3100 Dual Band Wireless-N Adapter but this DOES NOT come with the router. We have been using this router for over 45 days to run a home business (i.e. email, email attachments, interenet browsing,Voice over IP), as well as personal use including transferring over 4 TB's of images and video. We used this router on both the Wireless G and the Dual Band Wireless N during this period of time.Experience on G:When using the router on the Wireless G it has been extremely stable, very fast, much faster and more reliable than the Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster. It reaches our entire house with doors closed, up and down two stories, which the Linksys did not.We intentionally broke the Client Side WEP Security Settings in order to see how a call to Tech Support would be. We found Netgear response time to be exceptionally fast (please note, they had no idea we were reviewing this product for Vine), very precise, very helpful and helped us re-set the router no problem.Experience on N:Using the N adapter mentioned above (again provided soley through the vine program but is avaiable for purchase) we experienced even greater range and lightening fast speeds although G is still very fast.In summary, I highly recommend this router. If I didn't get this product from Vine and knew how great it would work, I would absolutely purchase this product without a doubt. As mentioned above the G network is very fast with great range because of the speed and number of antennas in this router, which is more than sufficient for me. If you are looking for the absolute fastest possible connection with the farthest possible range and do not have a new computer with Wireless N available, then I highly recommend this router and additionally purchasing the N adapter. I could not be more thrilled with this router, my husband can't remember the last time I said "Honey, can you fix the Router" because this works fantastic ALL the time and ALL over my house. Buy it now!!

The Netgear WNDR3300's port forwarding function is unstable. Lots of users have complained and Netgear support has a deaf ear on this matter. Unless Netgear comes out with a new version of the firmware to specifically address the port forwarding issue, stay away from this model.

What a dream to install! Interfaced perfectly with our HughesNet satellite broadband connection - had all the PCs up on wireless and most important for the kids, their multiple Wii systems wirelessly connected within an hour...That frustrating Linksys Dual-band Ultra has been kicked to the curb (or maybe to an online auction/resale place)! That dreadful Linksys took my husband 8 hours with Linksys phone support (extra cost, too) just to get the wired connections working (HUGE difficulties interfacing with our HughesNet broadband satellite) - and he was so worn out he wasn't willing to try to get us wireless on the Linksys, so I spent hours with that thing and finally went online to find a better router solution (the Linksys customer interface was a nightmare - difficult, difficult, difficult; and we would've had to buy special game adapters and struggle installing them to go wireless with our Wii consoles... sorry, Linksys, too time consuming and costly for us simple home users!)I am so grateful to NetGear for their smooth install. This NetGear router works as well as the Linksys Ultra with extended and stronger wireless coverage throughout the house and outside - and this NetGear is so much easier to install and to administer and to add additional wireless clients and the Wii game without special adapters... Why in the world did we spend so much time with that Linksys in the first place?We also bought one NetGear N band USB PC adapter - it works great and offers an alternative to our older G type installed adapters. And yes, sometimes it drops the connection - as do the wireless G adapters hardwired into our PCs... isn't that the pitfall of wireless in general? Wireless is subject to interference and it will probably never be as reliable as being connected with a wire to the net...Kudos to NetGear! We're thrilled customers.We couldn't be happier - especially my husband as I did this install all by myself when he was away - and he's no longer crazy with frustration as the Linksys is gone from our lives. Our family is finally, happily wireless in this house.

Surprisingly, 802.11n was 20-40% slower than g. Tested on dslreports.com, whatismyip.com, speakeasy.net - 5 tests in total. Heat is a problem with this device, unless you set it to lower upload speed when you do the setup. Before doing this, another device in the same try would overheat. Initial setup was easy using the Mac's Safari browser and an http connection to the WNDR3300 directly, with the live Comcast connection active. Needed no change to the Mac's settings (DHCP). The flashing blue lights on can be very annoying, but easy to shut off if you tap the top big button for a full second. But if you cycle power, those lights will be on again, need to tap the button again. Power-up problem: I use a Comcast modem, so I need to delay powerup on this WNDR3300 about a minute after the Comcast modem starts up. If the powers go on simultaneously, then both wired and wireless connections fail (IP 169 on wired, and 192 on wireless). But if the WNDR3300 power-on is delayed by a minute after the Comcast modem turns on, then it all works fine. I don't know whether this is a Comcast issue or a Netgear issue. Other than the above problems, it seems to work OK so far, much better than the 3 year old D-Link di-624 that it replaced. Anyone here know of a product that will force a 1-minute delay in powering on a device?

I plugged this one in and setup was easy. LAN networking was painless using default settings.The problem is that it won't connect or maintain connection with SoCal AT&T ADSL (using my reliable fixed IP), where other modems will. When it's connected, it's fine, but when there's a power outage or other interruption it will not re-connect. Tried everything, including tech support. They think it's defective, but I don't. Anyhow, back it goes.

I bought this Wi-Fi router to extend the FIOS Wi-Fi modem I have. The FIOS modem is located at the far end of the house and I placed the NetGear in the middle of the house. I receive higher Wi-Fi levels from the FIOS modem than I do from the NetGear. Sometimes 2-3 bars higher. I have two laptops and a bridge router which I used to measure the levels. The bridge is also dual-band and on both bands I had low levels. The signal for the 5GHz band was lower than the 2.4GHz band, even though there is less interference on the 5GHz band in my house. So if you're looking for something to extend or maybe improve your wireless network, this product is not for you.

This product was a good buy. It was easy to install, having to go online to get the directions was not a problem because my netbook picked up the unsecured wireless signal as soon a the router was cut on. A salesperson at a computer store told me that it was extremely complicated to make the signal a secured one and that I would have to pay a professional to come out and do it, but I was able to do it myself with no problem. The direction are very clear and easy.

I bought this product 2 months ago. After a reboot, it will work good for a short while, but speed will decrease as the minutes go on. I bought this off of Amazon as a refurb, and after checking many different forums, realized that the issue I was having, many many other people had also. After 2 months, am realizing that I am in the market for another router.

I purchased this item Nov 2008 and it has not worked correctly since then. It constantly drops the signal and many times have to reset the router. I have spoken to tech support 6 times and they try to fix it (change settings, download software) and each time it does not work. Their tech support and customer service is not very helpful. The last time I called customer service (a few days ago) and told them I want to exchange for a new one under the one year warranty. They told me that I need to upgrade my tech support since it is valid for 90 days only and that will cost me $$$. I told them I just want to exchange under the 1 year warranty. He hung up on me. I would suggest this company needs to revamp their customer service. I will not buy any products from this company in the future based on how they handled my last phone call.

As with any product we buy on the web, customer reviews are what convince us this is the product for me. Well; I read a few skeptical reviews on this product as well as good ones. Here's mine. I depend on a wireless network for the many devices I own. I use my Xbox 360 for everything! The media center extender went from no bars of power to almost full power after switching from a linksys wireless N router. The G signal on my bedroom pc went up one bar. It used to lag when watching video from the downstairs pc, now, smooth sailing all the way. Watching a movie on xbox 360; no lag or waiting for the video to catch up. Setup on this router is a little tricky hence ALL of the bad reviews. But being the computer savvy person I am with a little knowledge this thing ROCKS!!! Look no further if your looking for a great router!! I live in a townhome with multiple networks in the area making the 5 ghz feature a blessing! Now my girlfriend doesn't get angry everytime we watch a movie and the network lags; No longer a problem with this router!! What are you waiting for? This was the answer to my prayers; hope it does the same for you!!

I have purchased 4 to 6 different brands of routers over the past 6 years and was unhappy with the time it took to set them up. Went to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last year and spent an entire day going from booth to booth checking out routers and through the house wiring adapters. NetGear had them both and the 3300 looks good, performs well, and has the easiest set up. Since I was a small merchant, the rep suggested that I purchase from Amazon and I have been happy ever since.

When I moved recently into a larger place, I wanted more range for my wireless router. I bought this one because right on the box, it says "up to 10x" the range of other routers. It was tough enough to get it working -- I finally had to shut down everything including my cable modem (which required removing the battery) -- and when it finally came alive, I found that my Internet connection dropped every three or four minutes.I called Netgear support for help, and they said that based on the distance over which I was trying to communicate, the router was behaving normally. The service tech was quite unconcerned about the fact that my old "G" router worked fine (although at a "low" signal strength) at the same range, despite the promise on the box. I'm returning it after several wasted hours, and I'm just going to reinstall my old Linksys router. I'm sure Netgear's other products are fine but I'll never find out.
