How amazing to transfer information through air?! I am able to do away with 50 foot cord running through apartment. I have only computer connected but hope to do more with it. The light on top glows bright in dark but press down and light turns off.

The WI-FI is not good. My laptop is constantly disconnected and has to be restarted to connect. My smartphone experiences the same. The connection only lasts couple minutes. My old Buffalo wireless router never did that. I bought this unit because my old DSL modem will reset every time my treadmill is on. DGN3500 does not have this power supply problem. Overall, I regret to have bought this product.

The original router is crap. I kept having problems with the router dropping signals or only being able to connect 1 wireless device at a time. So after much tinkering with the settings in the router and getting nowhere i found out there is better 3rd party firmware available called dd-wrt. After installing DD-WRT firmware the router is fantastic no dropped signals at all.

I bought this to replace my 2Wire Gateway for use with my ATT DSL service(not U-Verse). I found it very easy to get it up and running. From the moment I started using it, it was much faster and more stable than my previous 2Wire device. I have had this for a month now and I have not had a single problem. I highly recommend this for any one looking to replace their dsl modem/router, especially on ATT's dsl service.11/18/2011 Update-I have now had this modem/router in continuous service since late May. Five and a half months later I have yet to have any problem or connection issue. WiFi signal is still strong through out my entire house. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

Over 10 years of DIY home networking experience. Played with lots of routers and home networking equipment and I count this one among the better.I got this thing for $40 refurbished. Then I followed instructions I found online (Google around for DD-WRT WNDR3300) to flash it to DD-WRT. There's also another review on this site that gives more detailed instructions. I have used this wonderful piece of equipment as a signal repeater, an Access Point, and as a vanilla router. Did the job just fine without any problems for all cases. Dual band feature works great. Set Chip 1 to the 5 GHz band (11a or 11n) and Chip 2 to the 2.4 GHz band (11n or 11g) and have at it.Very satisfied. I have a one bedroom apartment so I can't attest much to its range. It's worked for me outside of my apartment in the garage below. More than sufficient for my purposes. I must say though, for those who are not technically inclined, there are much better routers out there for the money - I hear the default firmware has issues and still aren't resolved.Handy tip: hold down the big blue button for about 10 seconds to turn off the bright blue LED's if they aesthetically bother you or your spouse.

This is the worst Router I have ever owned. It drops out if more than one wireless device connects to it. The range is less than the G router it replaced. It just stops working and needs to be rebooted constantly. While the data transfer rate is blazing with one computer wirelessly attached to it and solely downloading, once you interact with the net with upload signal the ping delay is more than 10 times greater than my Netgear G router. The Data Package Loss Rate is also huge with this router. Playing simple non-data intensive games is a lagfest, and even simple net surfing has unexplained delays and lags reminiscent of dialup. This is funny because I have the fastest residential internet cable connection available and should have the fastest wireless router, but when my network stops working, which happens often, I am forced to connect to my neighbors one bar, barely connected, un-encripted G-wireless network to send an email for work. Today the router died, a little over a year after I purchased it and I felt great relief.

This seemed like one of the best home use Netgear wireless routers when looking at the Netgear model line up. When I bought this router, I didn't fully understand how "dual band" worked, but it sounded good for reducing interference. I wanted the best, so I got this one.Now I realize I cannot benifit from the dual band. The WNDR3300 can only be wirelessly configured in the following ways:N at 2.4 GHz with max 270 Mbps (uses +- 4 channels for extra bandwidth, a/b/g clients also work)N at 5 GHz with max 270 Mbps and Legacy G at 2.4 GHz with max 54 MbpsN at 2.4 GHz with max 130 Mbps (considered neighbor friendly version, reduces number of channels utilized)N at 5 GHz with max 130 Mbps and Legacy G at 2.4 GHz with max 54 MbpsSo if you don't have any N clients that can utilize 5 GHz, you cannot benifit from dual band. I also ended up having a client (LG BD390 Blu-ray player) that just would not work using N at 2.4 GHz (even though LG documentation says it is compatible with 802.11n draft standard). For this one client, I had to step down to Legacy G at 2.4 GHz. I would have been fine with just an old fashion G router.Doing some tests, I realized with Legacy G, I was getting the same performance with N at 2.4 GHz with max 270 Mbps, so I wasn't too disappointed about having to step down to Legacy G. Hopefully LG and/or Netgear will provide a firmware update that will allow the two devices to communicate using N.Signal stength is better than what I had before. I can now stream Vudu HDX wirelessly (extreamly demanding). With my previous router, I could only stream Vudu HD (less demanding). So I hesitate in taking this back, thinking I paid more than I needed to. There are multiple antennas in this device and the lights on the big blue button tells you which antenna is being employed. This antenna technology also seems to benifit Legacy G. By the way, you can shut off the flashing blue lights just by pressing the big blue button (hold less than 2 seconds).-- Begin Update 12/15/2009 --I did some further tests comparing N with Legacy G. It seems the N on 2.4 GHz with max 270 Mbps has worse range than the Legacy G. I'm comparing signal bar strength of various apps in various locations in my home. So it seems stepping down to the older G works better. All in all, I've decided to keep this router dispite my uninformed decision to purchase it. I'm convinced the 8 internal antennas is helping matters compared to my previous router. Performance is markedly better than before, so I don't want to risk taking the time and money to experiment.-- End Update 12/15/2009 --

This router seemed at first like a quality product. The initial set up couldn't have been easier. Since then though, it's been junk.It drops connection constantly, but not just the connection - it seems to "disappear" when it disconnects - my wireless adapter can't find it, but it can find every other wireless network in the neighbourhood. Then in a minute or two, it "reappears" and I may be able to reconnect. It has ports for 4 wired connections, but will not acknowledge any of them; they're apparently just for show. The blue light on it is ridiculously bright - it'll light up your entire house, especially in the dark. If you want your whole house to be flashing blue light, then you'll like this. The ethernet cable that came with it doesn't work. The ports just plain refuse to be forwarded, and if you move large amounts of data online, this router can't/won't handle it. My up/download speeds have never been slower. Think dial-up speeds most of the time. The range is terrible - if I move my laptop to the next room, ten feet away from the usual spot, it starts dropping the connection every 2-5 minutes.GARBAGE.

I bought the Netgear RangeMax DGN3500 as a direct replacement for the 2Wire 2701HG-B for my AT&T DSL line. It works great. Everything has sped up. Everything. Uploads. Downloads. Streaming. All of it. I have 1 Windows computer, 3 Apple Macs, 1 Apple 2Gen AppleTV, PS3, a wireless printer, and a Wii. Not one problem now. Super easy to set up also. You will need to know your actual DSL SYSTEM password (not your eMail password) along with your complete eMail address. If you do not know what the real system password is, you will have to ask AT&T what it is. If you tell them you want to use another modem/router (other then the supplied 2Wire) to connect to their system, they most likely will not tell you YOUR password. So think about that, and take it from there... Tell them what you need too, to get YOUR system password. You pay for it remember. The DGN3500 has worked flawlessly. Not a DSL drop to be found. Not an internet drop either. Solid as a rock. My old 2Wire 2701HG-B dropped my DSL connection a minimum of 30 times a day. And too many to count internet connection drops. I use to think it was my lines. No. It was that 2Wire all along. I am so happy with my Netgear I want to recommend it to everyone!!

The DGN3500 replaced a 2Wire modem with ATT DSL. Installation was easy and performance (range and throughput) has been superior to the 2Wire modem. I've had it several weeks now without any issues at all. It does run hot though, so be sure to use the included feet to keep it in an upright position and well ventilated.

This router provides great connectivity throughout the house and maintains fairly consistent throughput wherever there is coverage. The range is more than twice that of my Airlink N router, with far more reliable connections several rooms away. The thoughput could use some improvement, though: I could get only a little more than wireless-G's theoretical bandwidth through this router, even when the wireless computer is only a few feet away.

First got an apple airport extreme dual band. Limited configurability and dropped wired ethernet connection to my macbook pro every few days. Had to unplug the ethernet cable and re-plug to get connectivity. Then got a D-link dual n band. Also had this ethernet cable problem. Added the problem that my wireless devices would suddenly lose their secure connection and ask for me to re-enter my wpa key. This was VERY annoying. Now got this netgear with low expectations since it was 1/2 the price of the others. On the down side, it does not have near as many configuration options as the d-link, and setting up my static ip computers and NAT tunnels etc was not as smooth. And there were arbitrary limitations, such as the inability to forward port 80 (for some reason they don't want you to do that). Another problem is the annoying lights on top that flash when the antennas are active, but you can turn that off py pressing down on the top dome (unfortunately they come back on every time you access the configuration page of the router)BUT - it solved the other major problems I'd been having (dropped wired internet and dropped WPA keys). It has been running solid for around 2 weeks, no need to restart it, or any of the devices connected.my setupa couple macbook pros (wired and wireless)ipad/ipod touch/iphone (wireless)panasonic webcams (wired)tivo (wired)slingbox (wired)2 windows xp (wireless)gaming adapter (converts wireless N signal to ethernet so older non-wireless emacs far away from cat-5 cables can connect to net)ibook g3 (white) - web server port 80

3-Months after purchasing the amazon.com/gp/product/B003Y4977Q/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title, it is working flawlessly. I ran the included install CD on a PC running Windows 7 and it was able to detect and configure the router/modem with no issues. It is important to note that the latest firmware be installed as soon as possible. You can easily check for firmware updates using the router's manager webpage (routerlogin.net). My wireless devices show a strong signal from the router at an average distance of 50 feet throughout the house with thick walls. This is a good deal!

At first it was difficult to configure the modem to att network but i got a very helpful lady who took me through all the steps and i finally got it configured. Getting help from netgear customer care can be a pain sometimes since some representatives arent very helpful but thank God i got that lady, hope she gets a promotion.Sometimes the wireless signal gets lost if you go too far from the modem but if you unplug the power code for like 10seconds for it to cool down,it works just fine.I've had this modem for like 7months and it has given me very good service.I recommend buying it.

I bought this originally to switch over to Wireless N from G but since everything I have uses wireless G I just recently decided to use this as a wireless bridge for my blu-ray player with my wireless old wireless G router. You can flash this router and run DD-WRT and then use it as a wireless bridge. The actual process to do this takes about 15 to 20 mins but having never done this it took me over an hour but did work on the first try after following directions on here [...] and [...]. Its working great as a bridge and I haven't had any issues with dropping the connection. If your not computer savy this probably will take you some time to do but in retrospect it was not too difficult. The instructions are pretty long but if you follow them you will get it working. You need to download two files from the DD-WRT website. The first is a .chk file and dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin (there are a few versions but the mini is the one that is recomended). Both of these files can be found here: [...]. Install the .chk file first following the directions on the above links.I got this router refurbished for under thirty dollars so its was way cheaper than buying the wireless dongle for the blue ray player and also allows multiple connections where the dongle would just support the bluray player. The fact that you can set this up as a wireless bridge is a big plus. Without that it would probably still be in the box it came in.Update: I have had this running with DD-WRT firmware for over 3 weeks now and it still has not once lost connectivity. Completely trouble free operation. Maybe running it with the netgear firmware causes others to have connectivity issues. Its been rock solid so far for me so if you get this and flash it with DD-WRT you should have good results. I paid under thirty for this as a refurb unit and it saved me $50 from not having to buy a wireless dongle for my blu-ray player. In addition it give me a second access point to hook up another wired PC and if the blu-ray player craps out I can use this with any other netflix ready player out there.Looks like the links have been wiped out by amazon but the site is dd-wrt DOT com which gives full instruction.

I have my dual band router setup with 11g on the 2.4Hz channel and 11n on the 5Hz channel. Currently I run with a Tivo Box and Brother Laser printer on 11g. 2 Laptops and a desktop on 11n. I run two Ethernet hubs with 7 hard wired devices through the router. I also have an ASUS RT-N12 router set up as an access point for the Netgear. It all works very reliably. The 5Hz band does attenuate very quickly. My 11n transmit rate goes from 270 Mb/s near the router to 27 Mb/s at the other end of my house (3 walls and 50 ft). 11g goes from 54 Mb/s to 21 Mb/s over the same distance. Using the access point solves that problem. The multiple antennas are very helpful. I lost the signal from my old router when my wife ran the microwave. The Netgear doesn't notice whether the microwave is on or off, the computer continues to connect. Setup is easy. The open source firmware DD-WRT can also be installed over this router. It would provide one feature that could be useful to some--Wake-over-LAN from remote locations--that is not included in the Netgear firmware.

I am using FIOS with a standard issue Actiontec MI424 W/R Rev. D modem /router. It was barely adequate with my TX1000 HP tablet using Wireless G. The problem started when I got my Macbook (Summer 2009 Edition). The FIOS router is at the 2nd floor and I would go crazy trying to get a reliable signal that won't drop. Moreover, it was ridiculous that my Mac was getting full bars about 4 feet from the FIOS router but would not be able to access the internet. I did my research and I was leaning towards the higher Netgear Gigabit Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3700) but was out of stock at Bestbuy. I reviewed the specs and this one is $50 cheaper and basically the same configuration minus the usb port and Gigabit capability, this one has 8 antennas.Setup could not be any painless. I used this as an annex router to the FIOS stock modem/router and the results were very impressive for my purpose at least. Now I have 3 wireless signals, (1) FIOS Actiontec Wireless-G (2) 5 Ghz band Wireless-N (3) 2.4 Ghz band. My Mac uses the 5 Ghz as it is better for the Wireless-N configuration and interference free. I realized it was probably my Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone that was messing up my signal. Now I am able to view online HD videos on my Mac flawlessly from the entertainment room downstairs. The other 2.4 Ghz signals suit the smaller handheld devices like the iPhone etc. I ran a FIOS speedtest on my Mac and it is just a hair below 20/5 - just beautiful! All in all very satisfied with this Netgear device. How other people need technical support for such a very straightforward installation is beyond me.

I recently bought a new laptop with all the bells and whistles and felt ready to take the step to wireless routing. I was concerned because I am not technically interested and want things to work 'out of the box' and had read some negative reviews on the frustrations of setting up this router with WIN 7. So I was very, very pleased at how easy and quick this set up was with windows 7. I was able to be online within 20 minutes. (I read the online install instructions beforehand...)Then I tested the distance I could go carrying my laptop and still receive a signal. Walked from upstairs of my house to downstairs, the farthest corners of the house (1800 square foot house), then walked outside and around the house, never lost the strong signal, it was impressive. Then I tried to set up my old laptop running XP (netgear pcmcia wireless card ) with this router and could not set it up with the card, only with ethernet cable. I could not find a solution online and found not much help, so I'm taking a point off because there is no help available. Otherwise I'm really happy with this router.

Плохо

As a years-long Netgear customer I went with this router:Good stuff:+ Nice look, sleek black and silver design and varied LED colouring as a positive difference to fx. D-link's boring breadbox look with all-blue LEDs (trust me, all-blue indicators gets annoying after a while!)+ No external antennas to interfere when messing with cables, or if it goes all bad, breaks off due to accidents.+ Initial setup is easy.+ Wired performance is good - the router does not seem to buckle (significantly) under heavy data loads.+ The unit seems well-ventilated with discreet heat vents all along the edge of the unit, which is good (heat is the mortal enemy of solid state electrinics!). Additionally, touching the unit to feel for overheating after hours of operation shows that there are no high-heat-dissipative circuits inside (likewise good).+ Features/price ratio is good. Now for the bad:- The wireless range, performance and reliability seems so-so. I claim no scientific accuracy whatsoever, only my own perhaps flawed experience, but the much-touted 802-11n (N! N!) wireless band - that is supposed to be faster and more stable - due to no other consumer electronics like wireless phones, microwave ovens and baby monitors using it - has only good performance in line-of-sight conditions. If you are using it though anything denser than a wooden wall, you might as well just go with regular 802.11g WLAN. The supposed ultradupersuper-innovative internal self-adjusting antennae inside the unit doesn't seem to be of much help here.- The web browser control panel looks and acts positively archaic. It seems caught halfway between the frames-based page layout of the mid 90's and the web 2.0 of today. It gives a bad impression, and is cluncky to do more than basic setup in. Port forwarding is a drag to perform, in part because of the unintuitive look and feel, in part because every minor change requires a lengthy system pause (though not quite a reboot, luckily!).- Worst, the unit has a reliability problem; at random times (though typically during heavy data traffic), the unit spontaneously resets. This is not due to overheating, because it is well ventilated where it stands. Other netgear users, not only of this router product, seem to agree with the spontaneous restarts. There has been no firmware to fix this problem, to my knowledge.Summing up:o A decently priced consumer product with fair features and performance for home users, but with its flaws. Advanced users should be prepared to spend more.

I purchased this router based upon 2 great reviews. I am happy that I ordered it. The setup wizard is much easier than other wizards I've used. It shows you step by step pictures and has it written as well. It's like having someone next to you, helping you. I setup my desktop and 3 laptops within minutes... or at least it seemed that way. I downloaded my printer drivers and reinstalled them on all computers. The nice thing about NetGear, that I have not seen with other vendors, is that when you open the desktop shortcut to view all the modem settings, it automatically checks to see if you have the latest firmware version. If you don't it can auto download it, but THEN (rather than your spending hours unzipping and installing it) it self installs and let's you know when it's done. Man, that was nice and easy.I would buy this router again and/or recommend it to a friend. Keep in mind that this router is for those that have DSL service. It is a combination of DSL modem and Router in one unit.
