I was previously using 2 Linksys Wireless routers - Linksys WRT55AG Dual-Band Wireless A+G Access Point + Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port 10/100 Switch & Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster - as I have A,B,G, and N devices in my environment. This allowed me to consolidate them into just this one device. Was a big Linksys fan for a while but recently bought a enterprise class switch from them that failed and replaced it with a NetGear that has been amazing. So when shopping for a Wireless solution to cover my new N devices I looked for a NetGear. I'm sold. I will be buying more NetGear from now on. I'm an IT Administrator so the setup for this device was quick and painless for me. Don't know how the setup wizard works at all. I just pulled the device and power supply out and configured it. As far as range I get about the same range as my previous wireless devices. Around 100 feet through walls and floors I get about 1/4 signal. My N connections connects at 300Mbps. My G connections are right on 54Mbps. 300Mbps is great for streaming media over my LAN. Works great, great price. Range could be better, but it is not any worse than my previous solution, so it all works great for me.

I bought this router because I really was getting sick of my Belkin Wireless G router. I made the mistake of buying a Belkin router to start and thought I'd do my homework before buying another router. After extensive research this router seemed to be one of the best. I planned to use this router for playing Playstation 3 online and using my laptop online. I had a little trouble setting it up, but the fault was mine. After setting it up I was up and gaming online with my PS3 with at full speed. The next day, I was pulling in half the connection speed from the day earlier. I'm only pulling in 2 bars connection status. I live in an apartment with brick and plaster walls. Which is why I bought this router because it has RangeMax. The router is in my living room while my PS3 is at the other end of my apartment. Which is only about 50-60 feet away. My connection signal strength is only 68-70%. And I have Charter Digital Cable Gold Package. If you are looking to game online with PS3 you better go all out and don't expect to spend less than $200.00 unless the router is gonna be in the same room as your PS3. Great for laptop web surfing. Terrible for online Wi-Fi gaming.I now why people say XBOX 360 is better. From my view XBOX LIVE beats Playstation 3's online network everyday of the week. Only get this router if you just wanna browse the web on your laptop.

I have just had the worst experience ever with a product and customer service with my first Net Gear branded purchase WNDR3300. Net Gear is aware that there is a firmware failure in this system that creates intermittent signal drops when more than one wireless device connects to this router - and they do not know how to fix it. This product works great if you are only going to be running one machine to it, connect more than one and you will lose your signal every 5 to 30 minutes with no explanation.Customer service was horrific. I spent over 6 hours on the telephone over several days dealing with tech support reading scripted steps to resolve an issue that they already know cannot be corrected. They were very rude and will try to get you off the telphone as quickly as possible to avoid being asked questions regarding the signal failures. Even the tech supervisors will refuse to offer any support or refer you to a United States representative.Very shiney and sleek machine, very nice connection for one machine at a time at 270mbs, connect more than one device to it and you get faster downloads going through the USPS.Save yourself a lot of time, frustration and money and DO NOT BUY this product as Net Gear knows they are selling defective equipment that is supported by inferior firmware.

I wanted a wireless N router mainly for the 5Ghz band, as there are too many wireless hubs and computers around my apartment and have been facing some speed and connection issues. I thought of going for a dual band router so as to be compatible with old or cheaper wireless adapters.My experience hasn't been impressive, the issues i face are :1. the Wireless Connection drops quite often and needs reconnecting.2. I am not sure if this is an issue with comcast or my router, but around midnight everyday, the service and the network go off for a while.I do notice some advantage of the Wireless N, mainly streaming HD videos do not freeze as they used to earlier.I was facing an intermittent connection problem, so wanted to fix it...The issue was, it is not a permanent problem, so had to make changes and wait for a couple of hours to see if it worked...my experience with customer care was impressive initially, i.e. short waits before talking to the representative, but soon it changedhad to wait half an hour before i could get to them...then every call started with me giving the case number, they specifying a series of steps (starting from the beginning every time, frustrating) and no solution.then i was busy for a week, and they said my old case expired since i hadn't called in 5 days, and a new case had to be created and had to start the whole troubleshooting process from the beginning. arghh.....later on i gave up, changed the settings myself to not use WPA security, settled with the older WEP and now it is fine... but it means , the product is not functioning as it is supposed to...DON:T BUY this product.... see if you can avoid dual band and go for only a 5 ghz router, and avoid this...

After months of playing with this router that is supposed to be super fast I ordered a new one to replace it. I wish I would have kept the receipt but it now makes it easier to set it on fire and throw it in the trash. On an average day I would lose wireless connection with this router about 15 times. About once an hour. It is not my computer as I have three and it does it with all of themJust call the help line you say. Wait about 5 minutes so they can transfer you to Samir from another country that says he speaks english but you cannot understand even his name. How can companies expect thier customers to put up with tech help that they cant understand.

This is a very good DSL modem combo. It runs 24x7 with no problems at all. The only trick for it to work with ATT DSL is setup the right VPI/VCI as 0/35. Otherwise it won't find any dsl signal. Different ISPs might get different VPI/VCI. Just google and try it. Or let the modem search it for you. But you need to wait pretty long time until it finishes the search routine.The DDNS only works with dyndns.com. But that's not a big deal. dyndns.com is pretty good for free DDNS service. The port forwarding also works good. Firewall setup is very straight forward. The Wifi signal gets excellent range. It also gets Mac address list filtering.The wireless printer server, VOIP (Italkbb) and Skype all works excellent with it.The ONLY problem is that it cannot send the logs files to my email address. The reason is the netgear router send the emails through the default SMTP port 25 without TSL/SSL encryption. But port 25 is blocked by almost every major ISPs in United States. So that's the dilemma. Either ATT needs to unblock port 25 specifically for your account or let the netgear fix their bad firmware to embed the TSL/SSL SMTP on other ports at your choice.Maybe I am asking too much for this little dsl combo modem. All in all, it is perfect for home use.

I was really skeptical after reading all the bad reviews here for this product and I just purchased it today and after 10 minutes very easy setup this thing start running like perfect and I mean PERFECT. I have my router setup in second floor and even my basement everything works perfectly. I had 3 PS3's 1 laptop and 2 computers alone with some DTV boxes and every room including basement things are working really nice and I gave 5 stars and I'm very surprised now with all the bad reviews this product got here. VERY surprised

I bought this wireless router (refurbished) in excellent condition and it works well with my nanny cam/ internet phone and online videos at the same time with very good speed and quality. I am happy with my choice.

First one (Refurb) was DOA (All lights flashing) Second works, but I haven't been able to get my dual band Linksys WPC600N card bus to work on the 5 Ghz band. The latest drivers for it are rather old (2007) so I'm not sure it's the fault of Netgear.

Allow though the speed is higher, the signal strength is poor even compared to my old G. It drops me consistently in the next room. It stays at 2.4 ghz and NEVER goes to 5 ghz. Setup took an hour on the phone with tech support. Don't waste your money.

This router runs DD-WRT very easily. It's dirt cheap. And it supports wireless N. If it had a gigabyte hub, it would be about perfect, but it would also probably cost 4 times as much. I don't know how the stock software works, but flashing it with DD-WRT is easy and it works great. Highly recommended.

The product was shipped quickly and functions well. The only thing I would note is, that although the listing noted that instructions were not included and that instructions could be found online at the main website, the exact location of the instructions may have been more helpful as it took me some time to find them off the main website page.

I really like this router. It's easy to set up and get working. It also has a ton of options that let you control everything you would ever need to. You can have both a wireless G network for your older devices as well as a wireless N network for your newer faster devices. Both at the same time! When I switched to this router I noticed right away that web pages came up faster on my wired computers. Both the wireless G and N worked fine in our house.For wireless N connectivity on our notebook we use the RangeMax WNDA3100 Dual Band Wireless-N Adapter. For greater coverage we also added NETGEAR HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit (WNHDEB111). The notebook gets great speeds a floor away from the access point. I am very happy with the performance of all the router features.Cool Features:- The Web interface is easy to use covers everything I need to do.- Allows the router to email you the logs on a user specified schedule.- Firmware is easy to update and the router will check if there is an update available.- It is easy to find the grid of attached devices along with all the stats for each connected device.- IP reservation is easy since it allows you to pick the device from the list. No more typing in MAC addresses.- Security for wireless also allows you to just pick the device from the list of attached devices and add it to the allowed devices. On other routers you have to type in MAC addresses.Items to note:- It is not a 1 gigabit router. But you can easily plug it into a 1 gig switch and then plug all your 1 gig devices into that switch.- The large blue light on the top cannot be shut off. It will light up a fairly large area in the dark. It's cool looking though.

The set-up software is useless. I had to do it manually. Tech support did't understand what a "dual band" router is. It's their product for heavens' sake! Coverage is worse than my 5 year old D-Link. N band would not stay connected to computer. Router had to be reset 2-3 times a day. I had none of these problems with my old D-Link. I am sorry I decided to upgrade my equipment. The old D-Link worked fine with the new computers. Don't waste your money.

DOn't know why this router gets so many poor reviews but its RANGE is great much better then my previous rangemax infact not a dead spot in the house where in the next room i used to loose a bar has top speed of 270 mb (in 5ghz mode), can't beat it for what it cost,word of advice check netgears website first to see if your one of the few that may be affected by the known connection issue all my systems are free and clear no problem here I recommend this product so far very easy to use and setup aswell great features

This 5GHZ/2.4GHZ Draft-N router is a decent choice for the home buyer interested in this newer technology.Pros: Decent Range, Easy-WPS Wireless Connectivity, Online Management is Easy to use. Internal hidden antennaes. 4 Ethernet Ports (10/100mbps)Cons: Blue Flashing light is extremely annoying if you tend to stare at it.

Save yourself some time, and money... The only sure thing about this piece of junk, is that you're going to have drop connections in an all time basis! If you want to avoid the embarrassment of having all your video conversations "cut" out in the middle (so to speak) every 5 minutes, AVOID!!!

I've had this router for about 6 months. I was new to wireless, so didn't know what to expect. I bought my wife a laptop and noticed that the conection would get dropped every 15 minutes or so. It would reconnect by itself after about a minute. I thought this was strange, but wasn't sure if it was a problem with the router or the wireless laptop. Over the next few months, I added two additional wireless devices (another laptop and an iPhone), and experience the same problem with those as well.In short, the connection is great...when you have one!

This is an N band router so it will not improve your speed if you have a computer on wireless G band. My RangeMax WNDR3300 came with the Wireless N adapter in the box since it was a gift from Amazon Vine program. I have also tried the Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router recently, which is a little cheaper than this router so I was able to compare the results.Setup - Setup was relatively easy, though it took a bit of time to configure the 3 laptops which were to work with this router. I had to turn off the internal wireless G band card of one my laptops to use the N band adaptor. I found the Netgear setup easy but not as easy as the Linksys router which had better set up software. I also don't like the fact that the Netgear utility disables my laptop's internal wireless utility.Range - This router gives me a lower range than my older G band router Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster. It shows only 25% network strength in spots where I was getting 75% in my home. However, the new Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router was no better either.Speed - With the wireless N adaptor, the connection strength comes up as 270 Mbps if I use the N band wireless adaptor but my download speed is only marginally faster than with my Linksys G router. With the G band laptops the download speed is about the same.Overall, this is a good router if you use the N wireless band. However, don't expect any big jumps in speed or range especially if you're still using G band wireless devices.

I have owned a couple of these for a while now. For gaming purposes and normal traffic, these are more than fine, however, this series of router has a known problem of causing traffic corruption during routing. It usually does not kick until the device has been running for a while; It only becomes abundantly clear on large downloads.Obviously you'll overlook an image or mp3 that hasn't downloaded just right, or when you are updating software, that the download has failed once and had to do a re-try here and there.However, if you do serious downloading (GB+ files at a time) imagine waiting for a Dual-Layer DVD iso to take 2 days to download, only to find that the file is corrupted!?Granted when using a CRC checking system on small packets (such as BT) this may not be much of a problem (although, believe me, it is slowing you down!), but HTTP downloads are very susceptible to this (painfully so) as well as other mediums.I have used these for sub-internal networks to connect them to wider, larger networks, as well as for connecting networks to various types of internet connections (Cox Cable, Comcast Cable, Wireless 800MHz Broadband, etc) and these problems manifest time after time.If you just want to do simple web-surfing, or play World of Warcraft, then this will work fine. But for a work environment or anyone who needs real reliability, avoid this like the plague.

The product is not approved for windows. I have wasted hours trying to get it to work. I am now shopping for a new setup. The product worked fine with my apple computers. But, for windows, it is a bad, very bad. It may be the adaptor rather than the router, but I will never buy NETGEAR again!
