I've had this product less than a month and had multiple problems with it. I hav ego reset it to get it to work. I've contacted their customer support but they are difficult to understand and when they promised me a call back I have been waiting for two weeks with no call back DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. I had a Linksys for 5 years and never had a problem Im returning this product and going back to Linksys.

The router worked 100% out of the box as indicated, only concern is that the serial number has been removed which is problematic as i wasn't able to enter a serial number on Netgear's website in order to get the latest firmware for download.

DO NOT BUY this unit!!! I received this and it was a nightmare to try and set up. I spent a total of 4 and a half hours on the phone with ATT and Netgear then ended up returning the unit because it would not get a DSL signal.

i downloaded genie before installing the router. i'm not sure if that eased the process, but it was indeed easy. genie doesn't work to adjust the settings, though. i have to go to routerlogin.net in a browser to really adjust anything. anyway, a great, fast, strong signal on both frequencies.

I bought this router 4 months ago. I set it up (which was really easy) and have never touched it again. I have connected everything to it. when I have people over they ask what the code is, I tell them and they connect. Never a problem. I really wanted a good router so I could get connection from 1 router. my pool is 100 feet behind my house and not only do I get connection there but also 200 feet behind my house.WOW what a great Router.

I purchased this to replace my 2Wire DSL modem that Qwest sold me. Since my DSL speed was 2 MB less than what it should be I called and Qwest Tech Support blamed it on my DSL modem (familure story, huh?), but they would be only too happy to sell me another of theirs. I looked around online for a new DSL modem (screw you Qwest!!!) for a new replacement. I paid particular attention to reviews on all the candidate items, noticing most seemed unreliable, with overheating being a major problem for most, as well as connectivity and installation problems. This DSL modem had better reviews, so I hit the old purchase button.First: NO heating issues so far (after two days)as my DSL is on 24-7. Modem feels moderately warm on the base, but no more if not less than other components on my desk.Second: Installation was so easy it was scary! All you need do is have your log on (ID and password)from your provider and the installation software does the rest. It has preset options for four or five different major ISP's and software detects protocal (PPPop etc.) and sets everything correctly. Again, you'll need your DSL log on from provider as they usally establish that themselves so you probably don't know yourself. Wireless setup for 802.11 was just as easy with WPA-802.1x+WPA2-8021x, WPA2-PSK, and WEP security available. I usually connect to my iPhone wireless and speed with WPA2-PSK was very good.Third: You can configure just about everything you want from website blocking to access schedule (and more), so us techies can have oodles of fun rearranging all the sets to heart's content. Good logging too!The only thing I don't like (which is really petty) is that the wireless light stays on all of the time instead of only going on when a wireless connection is active.All in all: VERY GOOD DSL modem, extremely good bargain (at $39.99 plus free shipping), EXTREMELY easy to install, and very flexible for changing sets, parameters and security profiles. I highly recommend this product and I'm very happy I chose NetGear!!!*** No- I do not work for NetGear, own stock or have any relatives or friends working there.***

I've bought this router after reading reviews here and on Cnet. My prior router was a Netgear N600 and I had a lot of issues with signal strenght, even in a small apartment...So far, range has been great, even with thick Brazilian walls, and speed has increased substantially from my previous router, let's see how good it is with time...

Disgusted with this product. Bought to replace a 5 year old lynsys router. Opened box expecting to plug in , configure and go. Absolutely no instructions included. Tried to download some to no avail. Had my IT Guru work on it for two hours. After verifying that dsl and modem were fine, Netgear connected us to technical help dept where someone tried to help him go through firmwear updates. Huh? Firmwear updates on a new model? After 2 hrs, told him it was defective. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I was very pleased w/this router right out of the box. I put it in the most remote corner of the house and powered it up. I went to the far opposite corner of the house (4-5 walls away), and I still got 100% signal strength measurements on my phone and my laptop. The older Netgear it replaced typically had about 30% strength. I don't have the latest adaptors, so I'm not using all the bandwidth capabilities of this device yet, but just the signal strength, range, and stability make this a very worthwhile purchase!

The router continuously drops the connection and did not work well with my PS3 (through a wired connection) at all. I ended up going back to my Linksys b/g router. I eventually purchased an Apple Airport Express, which I would recommend although slightly more expensive.

The CNET review said this was a fast router and they were right! It is amazingly fast. Coupled with my cable modem I'm getting outstanding performance on my network now. The only downside was working with the NetGear technical support team. My issue turned out to be that some factory setting was configured incorrectly for my Comcast cable network. First the positives: they were extremely nice and worked through the issue until the problem was resolved. The negatives: It took two-hours on the phone and they had very limited Mac/Apple support -- although they did find a Mac eventually and worked though this with me. If it wasn't for the technical support issues, I would give this 5 stars.

Look at the dates for any negative reviews of this product. Any problems that may have plagued the R6300 at launch are now resolved. I have never had a single problem with this router, and it has been running continuously since I purchased it a month ago. Buy this router. You WILL NOT regret buying this router.

as with many others here, i got one with the blinking power light. too bad i spent 2 hours going over every connection and restarting my modem and computer a dozen times before googling " R6300 flashing power light". corrupted firmware. after reading the problems others have had (buggy, lots of drops) i wont be getting a replacement unit but looking elsewhere.

As an upgrade from my Linksys WRT160N v3 router, this thing completely destroys it. It is especially good at managing network traffic. The 5GHz frequency does seem not to be as powerful, so those looking to get some range there might be disappointed. The biggest problem I had with my old router was an inability to run it in a downward compatible mode.It would only allow "n-only" It does also seem to lack MAC blocking. The setup was the simplest ever. I was up and running in 10 minutes. I cant wait to see how this thing performs with other AC devices.

I cannot get this product to connect using my ISP's ADSL2+ protocol. It does connect at regular ADSL, but I spent a lot of extra money specifically to get ADSL2+.So I go to netgear customer support for help.After several messages refering me to all sorts of absolutely irrelevant documentation, I get this (actual quote from netgear support here):"Regarding your concern in this NETGEAR DGN3500 router the ADSL option feature is not enabled. So I would really appreciate if you purchase a new router which has the ADSL option."Make your own judgement about netgear's products.__________________________________________________EDIT.After endlessly hassling with netgear, today was the final stoke. It's New Year's Day, right? At 8:30 this morning the phone rings. It's Netgear support. Unbelievable. And do you know what they wanted? They wanted to know if I have installed the latest firmware on my modem. These SOBs woke me at 8:30 New Year's morning to ask me a question that they have asked, and I have answered at least three times previously. And, they wanted a screen shot of the modem maintenance page ("to show the engineers"). Unfrickingbelieveable. They don't have their own screen they can look at, so they have to wake me New Year's morning for a screen shot of their screen? Seems clear that they are just being evil for the fun of it.So this is the kind of customer service you can expect from netgear. Malicious phone calls at disgusting hours just because they want to screw with you.___________________________________________
