My old router had finally started flaking out after years of faithful service, so I was shopping for a new one, and was originally looking at the WNDR4500. Then I saw this new R6300... so, pay a bit more for this now, so that in 6 months when I start wanting to actually use 11ac I'll have it, or save a bit now, and be kicking myself in 6 months when I'm already itching to replace whatever I bought instead? Duh.Now, "world's first" hardware for a bleeding-edge draft standard is asking for trouble. Nobody really knows how well this will actually work for 11ac since no clients are out yet. Early 11n days were pretty painful, with lots of compatibility issues. But Netgear and Broadcom are key WiFi makers, and their odds are about as good as they get. Either way, I needed to buy a new router now, and I figured that while this one might not turn out to do 11ac well later, any non-11ac router would definitely feel obsolete very soon.And in the meantime it's an excellent 11g/n router. It's giving great coverage with strong signals from second floor to basement and decent out into the yard. It also has huge throughput for multi-transfers like solid streaming while doing networked backups or whatever.If you don't really need a new router right now, you might be smart to wait a few months for more 11ac competitors to appear and their early v1.0 bugs to be stomped. But although it's not the best time to buy an 11ac router yet, it's probably still better than buying one without it if you can't wait.

Save your money and don't buy this product!When my old airport extreme gave up the ghost after 5 years I needed to buy a new router.I picked the NETGEAR Wireless Router - AC 1750 Dual Band Gigabit (R6300) based on the reviews here at Amazon.It arrived promptly, was easy to install and worked great... for a bit.After 70 days it stopped working. It was too late to return to Amazon so I contacted Netgear Technical Support. What a joke. Netgear could teach Japanese game shows a thing or two about setting up obstacles. Their website was so inept I had to open another ticket just to get the product registered!Liam Neeson had an easier time getting his daughter back in Taken then I did getting through to a human. In the end it proved so difficult and frustrating to get support that I have given up on Netgear, their Support department and their product.I am throwing this POS in the garbage and ordering another Airport. If this review saves even one other person from wasting their money with Netgear then... it would still not have been worth it.

YE,I have not been dropped once since connecting this modem up to my ATT internet.After years of being dropped over and over with my 2wire and then my bad time with Actiontec that I sent back to Amazon the Netgear works great.It's faster also and was simple to hook up using the disc included.Do not pay $100 to ATT for junk modems this costs less and works with ATT unlike many of the other brands.When you go the web sites of other brands they say Not for use with ATT .I have also read many other reviews of modems of other brands running very hot but this one doesn't even get warm,that must be a good thing.I have a tri level house and the signal is 5 bars everywhere.I'll keep this one !!! :>)

I want to start off by saying I NEVER give 1 star. If a product turns me off, I don't write a review. But this is a special case because it cost me 10 hours of my time.I ordered the Netgear R6300 about two weeks ago and was excited about it because of its features. Powered it on and immediately was presented with the green Power LED light blinking. 3 hours of trying to figure it out + 1 hour with Netgear phone support, and I learn that the blinking green power LED means there is a firmware corruption and it is unrecoverable.I returned it to Amazon for a replacement and received the replacement R6300 in two days (Kudos to Amazon!!). Installed it on Sunday and was impressed with the speed and ease of use. Took a few hours to set up and configure all of our devices to use the new wifi network. On Monday (yesterday), I come home from work and I see the green power LED blinking. Another couple hours of troubleshooting... another hour with Netgear Support. I try power reset, hard resets, factory resets... nothing. Another dead device.Returning this replacement for a refund and now I need to go find a non-Netgear device.

I was hoping for a bit of newer technology performance from this device. Unfortunately it is a disappointment. The configuration options of the unit are average at best, and some standard options are simply missing.The ARP table flushes much too quickly and there is no way to adjust this. The DHCP lease time expires too quickly and again there is no way to extend lease time duration.The biggest disappointment, however, is when I reached out to Netgear for information on the product and asked about these services of the router (ARP, DHCP), their response was to the spirit of "Let's try a few things and see if we can't get it to work".I'm sorry, I don't approach IT this way. I've spent too many years and too many dollars in college for two applied science degrees in the space to randomly "try things" with hopes that something may improve. That is specious nonsense and frankly Netgear should be ashamed of that approach.

I previously had a D-Link DIR 655 which worked marvelously for the first couple of days. Within time I found myself calling the support line 6 times in a period of 4 weeks. The connection would get lost and disconnected frequently. I had to change network names about 4 times. Certainly not how one wAnts to enjoy wireless. So I decided to buy this Netgear router after thoroughly thinking about it (due to the price). I realized that if I wasn't satisfied with it I cold just return it. When I first got It I was amazed at the ease of setting it up without the use of the Setup genie. It worked right out of the box, it literally took 3 minutes to setup and have it running. The power has gone and come several times (due to Sandy) and when it comes back up there is no need to reprogram it just starts working like its supposed to. Never mind that the speeds are rich loudly fast, I loved its reliability. Great buy, but whish the price was lower.

I have media players, tablets, and computers spread out throughout my house all using wi fi, mostly with just single channel 2.4gh. I could have saved a few dollars and bought an N router with great range but as the hub of my wireless network, but I figured the faster processor and longer usefullness of this router was worth the extra few dollars. It actually saved me money in that I can hook up 2 usb drives to the router and have my own little cloud system rather than having to have hard drive storage at every media player and other device. Now that Iknow it all works, next I will get an ac wifi adapter for my main computer so I can download files faster to the hard drives on the router. Then gradually I will upgrade the wi fi capabilities of the rest of the network.

This is truly the best Wifi router on the market, up to 5G Wifi! I have taken college level courses on LANS and WANS, so I defiantly know a great router when I see one. We have a list of devices connected to our router so far: Three(3) computers, two(2) Xbox's, two(2) smartphones, a blu-ray player, and one(1) 5th Gen. iPod touch. All of our devices can stream at the same time at the same fast speed, all in HD. We also have our printer connected to it, so now we can print wirelessly throughout the house. When setting up the router, I recommend doing it manually, not using the Netgear Genie App, ( go by the instructions manual, if your unsure of how to set up a router.) After the router is setup, then the Genie App. is good to maintain the router. This is really the best Wifi router you could have for your home. 5 of 5 stars!:)

I currently own a smaller Netgear modem/router that was starting to give us problems such as losing the DSL connection from our ISP. It appeared that heat was the culprit. I ordered the largre and more powerful Netgear DNG3500 since the reviews were good and Netgear is an established and respected name in modem/routers. This one - HA! Two hours on the phone with a Netgear tech (don't even get me started on her) and an additional two hours with my ISP tech PLUS a recent grad with an IT sub-major rendered zip, nada, ziltch. I will say this - Amazon is VERY good at returns and refunds. I'm glad I purchased this item from Amazon instead of directly from the vendor! I believe we would still be fighting over this product!

My Linksys EA4500 would drop wireless connections and need rebooting at least every couple of days. I finally had enough and sprung for this Netgear R6300. I am happy to report that I haven't had to reboot yet (over a month). I thought that I would get stronger signal strength with this unit but did not. But to my amazement I have seen a 10MB speed improvement with Speedtest results!!! I have over 12 wireless clients and they all work great. The web management on this device is much better and more complete than Linksys. I hated that CiscoConnect as well.

Full Disclosure: I received this unit in beta form for free from Netgear.Setup: Setup with my comcast cable was as simple as plugging in the router and turning on the router. There is a huge amount of detailed settings that you can change in the web interface if you so choose, but basic setup walks you through each step of the configuration.Features: This is the most feature rich router I have ever used. I love the USB ports for one. I plug in a USB hard drive and stream my music and movies right from the DLNA router to my android tablet and TV. The 2nd USB port is nice to plug in a printer and works flawlessly. The parental controls are a nice touch too. Ironically, the unit does not even look like a router. It has a great finish and looks well made. I actually have it displayed in my home theater setup since it looks so nice.One negative I recently found out is that the iPhone 4 cannot connect to a real 5G network, which is odd to me since it says it supports a/b/g/n wireless networks. This is not a fault of the router. The iphone could probably not even really utilize the 5g anyway unless I were copying large files from phone to PC, so not a big deal.Performance: This is the fastest router on the market. I am really impressed with the speed and I have not rebooted it in 8 weeks of use.This is a solid value of a router and its rich features will leave you wanting nothing more from your home router. I also own the WNDR4500 and I have it sitting in the corner since this one arrived.

1) Does it work? Yes2)What's the range? I have a 2600 square foot, 2 story house. The router is in a corner bedroom on the first floor. There isn't a spot in the house that has less than full wifi bars. It's amazing.3) Does it push data? I have this router going through another router (for my home alarm) and it STILL pushes 50mg wirelessly on speakeasy.com.It's an amazing router. Expensive. But amazing.

AWESOME!!!! is the best word to describe this router. I purchased this router to replace an old Cisco wirless n router that had become very intermittent when attempting to connect wifi devices, and I am more than pleased.Out of the box, installed, and connecting all my devices in less than 10 minutes. The range and speed of this router is simply amazing. I have it located in a corner bedroom and have no issues getting a full signal in the opposite corner of my house (over 250 ft away... it even provides a strong signal at the end of my driveway)...Router is perfect for all those smart phones, tablets, smart TV's, and laptops, well worth the money if you're looking for a strong upgrade or even a first purchase...

The most important things for me in a router are speed and range. I've had other very expensive routers who were so riddled with options and things I didn't need they actually SLOWED down my 20mbps internet!!! I can't tell you how frustrating it is!I have had several netgear routers, including this one, and this one is no different in terms of quality. It's very easy to set up and use. It has not had any glitches or malfunctions in the month I've used it and my internet speed and transmission across a large house is absolutely superb. For that reasons it gets 5 stars!

I went from a Linksys E-3000.which was about 6 years old, to This netgear router, the setup was a breeze, mind you,I"m a baby boomer, and not a techie, but I can tell you this, just follow the simple Instructions, no CD required or needed......and you will be on the Internet via the NetGear Genie, and you will not have any dead spots, or weak spots in your home........I just can"t believe how easy the set up was.....I"m running A smart tv, Ipad, Roku ,plus 2 kindles, all at the same time, plus my blu ray player with internet access, and the speed is unreal, no more buffering drop outs!!!I higly reccomend this unit to you.........it just works!!!

love that i can make more then 1 Wireless name SSID, love that i dont need to use the AT&T modem i can use this all i have to do is enter my email and pass and set the ADSL Settings for the Multiplexing Method & VPI & VCI to match there systems and boom i got internet!When you buy this you gave to make sure you have the right INTERNET PROVIDER (USER/PASS - and VIP/VCI) enter just 1 number off or on and it wont work you need the right info, other then that so far im happy with it, works for Quest, AT&T, Verizon, Private network, Other!

Okay... I have had Netgear routers before and they never really seemed that great. I also had a Linksys router that was just okay too. All seem to struggle to get from my basement, where I house my network equipment, up to the rest of the house. By the time I get to my furthest back bedroom, I am lucky to get a single bar. So, to my amazement, I bought this router, hooked it up, took my laptop to the furthest bedroom in my house and I had five bars. FIVE BARS!!!! WAHOO!! This router is lightening fast, the range is amazing, and I liked the available configuration options. The other thing that was very helpful is that it has multiple ethernet ports and two USB ports. So, I was able to hook up one of my printers and a USB network drive directly to the router without having to put everything through my ethernet and print server boxes. It was extremely easy to setup and so far I am thrilled with it. I will update for longevity and reliability at a later date.

OK, so I read the reviews on this item, and was a little put off by the number of negative reviews. It was about a 60/40 mix of good and bad. Normally I would have maybe found an alternative. Some seemed like maybe they had limited experience hooking up wireless. However, I've had some good experiences with other NG products, and this one has great features for a real good price, so I pulled the trigger.Bottom Line - it's a great product! Set up was super easy, took all of 10 minutes, and everything was up and running. Great range, I was able to get 5 bars anywhere in my 2 story house. So far seems to be very stable, and faster than my old modem/router separates.Overall, lots of Pros and no Cons from this reviewer. I'll update you in a couple of months.Update 12/10 - Unit is absolutely perfect so far, no issues at all. Highly recommended.

Very Straight Forward set up on my 2.33 GHz Intel Core2 CPU / 4 GB RAM Notebook, running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, and using Verizon's Most Basic DSL Service.According to the manual in Netgear's Resource CD, this particular version of the DGN3500 was released on June 2010.As recommended by Netgear, I used the `Smart Wizard' found on Netgear's Resource CD. The `Smart Wizard' indicates the steps that Windows users must follow to successfully set up the modem, and the wireless router. The package includes a splitter/filter, which according to Netgear must be installed to prevent noise coming from the ADSL line (in my case I only have ADSL).To connect to the internet the DGN3500 prompted for the ISP's user name and password, once these were entered it connected to the internet, and it upgraded the DGN3500's firmware. Once the modem was set up, it was necessary to set up an SSID for wireless routing capabilities, and the security settings.I just want to make the following observation, the DGN3500 automatically sets itself to the lowest setting of 130 Mbps, therefore, after the complete set up of the modem/router is done, it is recommended to access the DGN3500 through a web browser, select wireless settings, and then select the 300 Mbps mode.After reading a few reviews that portray difficulties while setting up other manufacturer's Modem/Routers, I would highly recommend having the TCP/IPV4 properties on your PC or Laptop set to obtain an IP Address, and DNS Server Address automatically (prior to the set up of the DGN3500), that way the DHCP server on the DGN3500 can easily assign an IP address.I'm very pleased with the performance so far. The wireless indicator on my notebook shows 5 solid bars. My network devices have adapted well to the DGN3500.The video feed from my HDHomerun HDHR-T1-US connected to a TV antenna on the roof is crystal clear. My NetTalk Duo VOIP device works just fine. Both of these are 100Base-Tx devices.I still need to test a few more network devices including some with a 1000Base-Tx interface, and I will be reporting on the performance of these soon.Because of the adaptability to my network devices, I give the Netgear RangeMax DGN3500 5 stars.

I have been using this router for a little over a week now but it wasn't just plug in and go for me. I then quickly found out that because it is a refurbished unit that you are not entitled to any customer support unless you are willing to pay extra. As the units are not shipped with any CD's or documentation, not being able to get online to troubleshoot doesn't leave you many options.After that realization, the thought is to just return it and buy local. But since you have opened and "used" the item it's not really returnable. The lack of tech support should definitely be spelled out before purchase as it may make a good deal no longer such a good deal if you give up service along with the normal warranty.Turns out after all that my problem wasn't related to the new router. After talking with the cable company tech support they told me that I just needed to power off the cable modem after installing the router. And then doing that caused my call to them via new cable phone service to drop due to lack of power (note to self to get UPS for cable modem).But it's been pretty smooth sailing since and I can absolutely tell the difference in speed that the PS3 connects now with services like NetFlix and Amazon. No more lagging!!

Regrettably I had to return this router to Amazon for a refund. I bought to upgrade my ASUS 56U, which had performed admirably but was slower than I needed to download files wirelessly.Setting the Net Gear was relatively painless, and to begin with, it was very quick on both bands. I had it for about a month and it started to disconnect.I tried the standard method of re-booting the modem, replaced that component and eventually realized that the Net gear was the problem.maybe I got a bad one, but I've replaced it with another ASUS.

Very nice unit from a management perspective. I continue to have challenges with throughput for extended periods of time. I still maintain there's a glitch with PlayStation traffic as I have to reboot the router each night prior to logging on to ensure I'm not dropped.Extremely easy to setup.Update Feb '13I've had this router for 5/6 months now and I can say I regret this purchase. I've since had to hardwired all components through it to avoid latency challanges. I have another wireless a/p hanging off this serving a much better more consistent wireless signal. I'm up to date on all firmware but the wireless continues to introduce high latency which kills connections to the Playstation network mid game. It's hard to turn your back on a $180 unit so I'll find a use for it.

I work in networking so I demand that my items work flawlessly. The thing about Mimo is you cannot in anyway shield the cap with the antennas/lights and not expect a performance hit. I found my router a minute ago laying flat with the lighted side down. (I had been doing a few things related to cleaning and moving and knocked it down and was having issues). I don't have a huge house so I have not tested ranges and all my networked gear is about 10 feet from it. Setup is not difficult and I have only had to change the channel once to keep the neighbors from interfering with my signal.

Ordered this router on Thursday June 7th off Amazon and got it Friday, so far I'm really impressed with the device, I'm getting exceptionally great network speed on big file transfers and excellent range compared to the WNDR3700. I was debating whether to return the WNDR3700v3 I had and keep this one or the other way around, but as as soon as I set this up and upgraded to the latest firmware, I was dead sure which one to keep.The router has been going for 3 days straight without a hitch and hopefully will stay this way, seems pretty stable to me, been streaming HD movies from my main PC to the living room TV and out of my WDTV Live Hub over the network to that TV as well which is over 40 feet away from the router with no buffering at all, amazing! No need to buy a network extender anymore, which had been among my future plans to increase Wi-Fi coverage in the house.At some point today I was streaming Netflix on my bedroom TV and making a full system backup to Acronis Online backup service, while my dad was streaming another HD movie over the network off the main desktop PC, and my relative who is visiting us was using the Guest Network, al this activity simultaneously and all smoothly.Access to my external 500GB hard drive through ReadyShare seems to be faster than ever, same as to streaming content from it, VERY happy with my purchase so far!
