I bought one last week for my office. I have no idea what the one stars were for - I love it!!The guy from Comcast said he would set it up for about $100, but at that amount I figured I'd give it a shot on my own. I had installed the Genie app a few days before getting the device and after plugging it in and not being able to set it up on two tries, I clicked the "Yes" to the "Would you like the genie to fix it?" This has never worked for me in the past with any other device, but I clicked it anyway. It was less than two minutes and I was up and running! It asked me if I wanted to update and after another "Yes" and about 15 seconds it was done. It must have added the Guest access that people were looking for because I was able to find it immediately.I don't have all of the technical knowledge that some of the people do that have left some of the most helpful comments I've ever read, but I can tell you that ease of setup is five star in my book. I can also get access if I walk outside and onto the street.Like I said, I'm not the most technical, but I'm extremely happy at this point. If this keeps up, I'll be a Netgear customer for a long, long time.I also love the genie app!

The NETGEAR R6300 replaces a Linksys N-Router and was very easy to install and configure in about an hour. The installation guide is brief and easy to follow. The router has preset SSID and password that I updated quickly to my preferred settings. I updated the security and was able to connect all 7 devices in my home in just a few minutes. Performance is almost 3x faster than my previous wireless system and has enough signal strength to give 5 bars throughout the house. It's an excellent upgrade for anyone with teenagers that like to stream video and more!

I love this Netgear and only wished I got it before I purchased another one from my local tech store. Regardless, this device is capable of handling my entire fleet of wireless home devices (and believe me, there are many of them). Sure, my internet provider can't support the massive download speeds this Netgear can handle, but then again, it's always better to have more than need more. Overall, highly recommended for the quality and cost.

LIKES: Great speed and range.DISLIKES: 1)Must install print server software to run in background on EACH computer on network to use non-wireless printer. 2)90-day free support is TOTALLY USELESS - by phone, email and video's! Outsourced support center could NOT explain how to set up router as DLNA media server. Website videos refer to different router.BOTTOM LINE: Not worth the hassle to exchange but would NOT buy NETGEAR again.

I got this product yesterday. The router setup was very easy. I've a verity of gadgets like PlayStation, iPad, MacBook Pro, Air, Windows based laptops, Media Servers etc. etc. After a complete day's test, I didn't see drop connection from any of my laptops. My house is three storied. Speed was exceptional and reaching to every corner of my house. Be it my web browsing or video watching, it was pretty stable. Only when I started watching Netflix from my PlayStation 3, the connection dropped a number of times. Even I tried to surf internet through PlayStation, but got the same result. My PlayStation is only detecting the 2.4 GHz band. Even though setting it to maximum speed (450 Mbps), it is freezing only after a few minutes' usage. I hope there would be some sort of patch released to fix it. I watch Netflix, Amazon Videos, HuluPlus etc in my TV through PlayStation everyday. I will wait for a few more days to observe. If the problem persists, I'll have no choice, but to return it. Great product so far otherwise!Update on 6/9 -The Netgear tech team helped fix the connectivity issue on the PS3 by re-applying the firmware. It is now working the way I needed fulfilling all my requirements. I am increasing a star on this.

I bought this for my Dad and I've set up wireless networks before. This product worked with every device I have EXCEPT his laptop, which was the main reason I bought it. When I filled out the registration it asks if you need help and would like someone to call you and I checked that 3 weeks ago. A couple days after I filled that out I called and got someone's voice-mail. I ended up having to buy a Netgear WiFi USB Adapter for $65.

I received the first on on 30 Jan 13 and it work great for a couple of hours.The WiFi decided to stop working but the wired connections were still up.On 31 Jan 13 told Amazon and they shipped out a replacement the same day.Hooked up the second on on 2 Feb 13 and it is trucking along just fine.I'm also using a WN3000RP to extend the R6300 with no issues.

Wasn't any quicker than the wireless G router I already had.I couldn't return it after it stopped working 6 months later.Do not buy Refurbished!WASTE OF MONEY!

it only worked for half a day then went completely dead. i wouldnt not recommend this product due to that fact. even tho it was refurbished.

The NETGEAR router has worked perfectly in all, aspects including video streaming to my Panasonic TV which has built in Wi Fi to Amazon Prime and video rentals. Streams HD without a skipped frame.I had to purchase this at Wal-Mart as Cisco turned off my EA4500 and e4200, set up as a bridge. I thought it was my fault but after looking on the web I found Cisco thought they could violate my HIPAA rights. My information is private and no one else's business. DO NOT BUY CISCO. Please see my review on Cisco EA4500. I now have $400 in Cisco/Linksys JUNK!Thank you NETGEAR for giving your customers a choice and an awesome piece of technology.

A lot of complaints about a lack of a guest network but a week later the guest network has been included in a firmware update and works fineMy computer adapter is 802.11n. My old 4000 router was at the opposite end of the house (50 feet and 3 walls between) and I had three bars and download speeds of 2.5 Mb/sec. The new r6300 gets 4 bars from the same distance and 8 Mb/sec download.Truthfully, it will not be possible to get the full promised speed out of the router until 802.11ac laptops (or adapters) become available. But its a good hedge for the future since routers really aren't that expensive. just my thoughts.I have as a set up the r6300 connected by powerline to a second router at the opposite end of the house and I connect via the second router (using a wireless relay is too slow compared to using the powerline). Using the powerline as relay between two routers results in a small increase to the ping, but download speeds of 18Mb compared to the speeds noted above.*****Originally I posted as 4 stars but the router seems to be working even faster now even through three 3 walls and the cabinet it sits inside of. I've adjusted the speeds accordingly above *******

I've had this NetGear Wireless Router R6300 for over three weeks and it's a solid performer. The setup was very easy.I'm using both radios (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) G and N. My 2.4Ghz signal range increased slightly. I cannot comparethe 5Ghz signal range because my previous access point did not support 5Ghz. I did connect my Cannon Color MP610ink jet printer to this wireless router and it works well. You will need to download and install Netgear's printer management software.My PCs are all running Windows 7 and every one of the three PCs prints just fine. I will eventually attach an external Hard Driveso my contents can be shared. I'll eventually be trying the DLNA feature too. I was considering the Cisco Wireless router but decidednot to purchase it because you need to log into their cloud in order to access your own wireless router.How ridiculous is that? Talk about control. I highly recommend this Netgear R6300.

When the router worked, it was pretty good. Decent range, decent speed, It didn't drop connections to my Droid like my WPN824 used to. But tonight, exactly one month after getting it, it died. No Internet, so back it goes. I guess Refurbs are hit or miss. Just ordered a replacement, so we'll see how that goes.As for other things. The USB Media Server is nice, but it would be better if we could set times for it to turn on and off. Netgear's new browser based configuration screen is a bit unintuitive, compared to the older, but you kinda get used to it. Looks nicer, just poorly laid out. I didn't really use the 5Ghz much, it seemed to have a little lessor range. Hoping the next one isn't another dudUpdated:Two days after receiving the replacement, it now has done the same thing. Can't get a DNS. My Internet works fine, and when I replace it with an old backup Linksys I have no problems. This is going back and I'm looking for something else. DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK REFURBED! It's probably returns they just repackage and ship out

Opened the box and plugged it in without reading directions. Worked without any issues/simple to use. I just ordered the Linksys Wireless-AC Universal Media Connector (WUMC710), so I've only been using the 802.11n/450 speed vs the 802.11ac/1300. It's still an improvement over the previous router I was using. I will update once I can use the 802.11AC.

This product would not work out of the box. I spent more than an hour with Netgear support but they could not get the unit to work. It showed power, connection to the modem but after trying every possible option none of my computers or devices (Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone) could detect the device. Looking at other reviews this seems too common a problem. I cannot recommend anyone buy from Netgear if its QC is so bad they are sending out numerous units which do not work out of the box. I've been using a Cisco system which has been flawless and this experience really turns me off to Netgear.

Fast shipping, easy to install (less than 5 minutes)....amazing speeds forinternet surfing and video viewing...superb WiFi reception in all the home, much better reception than I had ever had...what a luxury! Would strongly recommend this product....worth every cent. AC, Fort Wayne IN

It was a piece of junk. No serial number, no instructions, no contact information.NET GEAR would not respond to E-mails. Downloads from netgear would not work.Complete waste of money.

I have broadband from my cable company. This device was not able to be used because it was incompatible with what I have. This should have been noted in the description. It can only be used with telephone line hook up.

I have been stuck for years with AT&T DCL and the their 2WIRE modem that is not worth even half the money you are forced to pay for it.The Netgear modem connects easy even if you have never done a configuration yourself before. Follow the "Read Me First" instructions and then connect the modem to your computer or laptop using the supplied Ethernet cable (to port 1 on the modem), start the DVD and follow the prompts. In about 15 minutes you will be up and running. Connecting a wireless printer is just about as simple, just remember all passwords are in lower case only.The modem works very well and about twice as fast or better then the 2WIRE.

Dual Band, B/G/N, 2.4 and 5 GHz. Two radios. I immediately installed dd-wrt software. They work great as APs or paired as a bridge.

High priced but absolutely worth it - I bought another less expensive brand and three or four devices just couldn't stay consistently connected; the other router also needed to be rebooted daily. A friend recommended this one. I installed this in 1 minute, configured in 2 minutes and reconnected all devices throughout the house - voila! It's been about three months and I haven't rebooted once; all devices play happily with it and each other, including wireless printer.

This will be the last time that I buy a refurbished product. The last 2 that I've bought never worked from the start. To cut to the chase, this unit started off even slower than my old router. The speed and range are absolutely terrible. The max speeds I can get are 2 Mbps. Thinking it was an ISP problem, I've had it confirmed by experts that it's the router. Unfortunately, it's past the time I can return the product to Amazon. Absolute garbage and a waste of $75.
