I've owned the WNDR4500 for about 80 days now, and have found it completely unreliable. I have had to remove the device from my network, and re-install my old router because the WNDR4500 N900 will not maintain a reliable connection to the Internet for more the 30 - 60 minutes. The router is fast when it works, but I work from home as a networking consultant, and a reliable connection is more important than speed. Additionally, using this device for any type of media streaming is completely useless. I am unable to maintain a connection to Netflix or online music service for more than 30 minutes before it is disconnected.I have had a case open with Netgear practically since I purchased the router, my support is about to expire, and I've had no useful feedback from them. I've supplied all of the debug information requested, which was supposed to be passed to Netgear "3rd level support", and I have heard nothing back from them in weeks. I have been constantly assured that the problem would be resolved, but now my 90 day support is about to run out, with no word or hint of a resolution from Netgear. I would absolutely return this device if I was able... it is just taking up space on a shelf and has been a waste of $190.3/16/2012 - It has been going on 5 months since I purchased the Netgear N900, and there is still no resolution to this problem. The only way I can have a stable home network is to use the router I was originally trying to upgrade from.Netgear continues to make promises that they will resolve this issue, but still nothing. They say their engineers are researching the issue, but for the most part they don't even ask questions related to the issue I've described.I have requested a refund or an RMA, but contrary to their promises, they are unresponsive to any such request. I highly recommend not purchasing this router, but if you risk it, return it immediately if you have any issues.

Ok, after two linksys routers without problem wanted to upgrade to a new one. I was in between link sys 6500 and this one. After reading reviews i decided to get this one. Everything worked perfectly and easy to setup. The problem is airprint is not working with IOS6 on ipad or iphones. So if you are advertising for a function which is important for some buyers like me then make it work or if you are working on it let the buyers know!!! So a five star product is getting three stars from me because I would expect some respect from a company. IF YOU ADVERTISE A FUNCTION THEN MAKE IT WORK OR DO NOT ADVERTISE!!!STILL NO PRINTER SUPPORT ON IOS!!!! MEANS NO PRINT SUPPORT ON IPAD OR IPHONE!!! IF YOU WANT TO PRINT SOMETHING USING THEIR STUPID GENIE SOFTWARE THEN NO MAC SUPPORT OR YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR PC ON. :) GOODBYE NETGEAR...

Setup went as expected but it never would connect correctly via the router to my desktop computer. The lights were always yellow indicating something was wrong. Also it would not automatically reconnect after a power outage. It required a manual login each time from the setup menu. Not sure why it was returned the first time but I would say the refurb shop didn't fully test it before sending out. I went to a different brand.

I own a Buffalo Tech AirStation HighPower N300 Wireless Router, and was constantly having issues with video streaming speed and range. Tried several range extenders but still... service was spotty. Decided to try this router and, although none of my current devices support the AC standard, the dual band + dual frequency has really made a difference. I can now reach all corners of my house with a signal strong enough to stream Netflix anywhere in the house....and the user interface is also very simple. Didn't try the Buffalo Tech AC router, because this one had better speed test results online and also had more (and better) user reviews.

I looked up routers on CNET prior to the purchase, and really liked the idea of the device being ready for future devices and capable of existing devices working with it. The Netgear Genie software made the programing of password security and renaming the device extremly simple. Also really like how the Netgear Genie software has a device map available so as to know how many devices are connected to the router and and all devices whether pc, hanheld Droid, or ios apple may use the Netgear Genie software in whole. The device itself has thus far proven to be very stable and reliable, when a device I own is disconnected and reconnected it is seamless. I would strongly recommend this device, for the simplicity of set up and excellent reception.

I had a lot of intermittent network failures with a 3-month-old Linksys mid-line 802.11n router. When a Comcast technician came by to poke around he looked at the Linksys and said "You should throw that out. Linksys never works." I took his advice and replaced it with this Netgear and all of the problems went away. That's the second time that I have solved an annoying networking problem by throwing away a Linksys and replacing with Netgear.The one thing that hasn't worked with this Netgear is having an Ooma VoIP box behind it, even giving the Ooma the highest priority QoS. So the network is configured with cable modem -> Ooma -> Netgear.

I had high hopes for the 802.11ac protocol. I had previous been using the netgear n750 with issues with 450 connections. It would default to lower connection speeds and slow down further with larger file transfers. The r6300 so fart has been solid with connection speeds and overall throughput. The gui page has gone buggy and required the unit to be power cycled but has not effected the day to day use of the wireless or wired connection. The gui page is basically missing any text on the buttons with certain functions. Im satisfied with the ability to link up with a solid 450 over wifi but it is a little pricey. Hope to be seeing the 802.11ac mini pcie cards coming out soon to test the true throughput of this router.

I only had this $200 Netgear Wireless Router for 4 months and the green light started flashing and basically died. I called technical support and I could BARELY understand him (it was a struggle with a lot of repeating). After about an hour he authorized a return RMA numbers. After all of this I have to pay postage to have the router returned. It's still under warranty-but with $200 this is maximum frustration. Interesting, my Belkin dinosaur still works like a champ and just as fast (but it's not secure typical of those old timer wireless routers) and has no printer and file sharing capacities.

After more than 6 month of agonizing time with LinkSys E4200, I finally purchased NETGEAR AC1750. Now my trouble is over. This one actually works very reliably. With LinkSys E4200, I was not able to upload or download large file (100mb+) over VPN to my office. It kept failing on me, as if it drop the connection. However, that never happened with NETGEAR AC1750. I had it for more than a month now and it is very reliable. I highly recommend this one.

The throughput is definitely better than my last N router, even though I'm still just using N. However, there are frequent errors connecting to the network, and streaming connections frequently dropped. I'm also having problems finding Apple TV on the network via Airplay with other devices, which I did not have on my previous router. These are not initial kinks in the setup, they are ongoing. The device also lacks DHCP reservation, and the web based management is much less user friendly than D-Link devices. It's speedy, but lacks tweaks like being able to click on and name an attached device. Even devices connected via wired ethernet have problems keeping IPs with this router. I find myself frequently going into network settings for all attached devices to manually reconnect.

After using another brand of wi-fi router for the past several years, I decided to switch to this Netgear R6300 router. The setup was easy and fast. The speed of internet access up and down is very fast. I especially appreciate the ability to turn on or off the Guest Access from my cell phone. I have not seen this feature in any other router. My television uses a Tivo as my cable box and it can download Netflix movies through this router with absolutely no pauses or freezes. Although a little pricey, this is a great wireless router and you will be happy you purchased it.

Finally dumped my AT&T Motorola modem that wouldn't stay connected and I could get rid of my router too which saves space. Just make sure you have access through a smart phone or similar to the NetGear website so you can get it set-up (takes about 1-minute).

It was time for an upgrade from an earlier Netgear wireless router that has proven very reliable. I decided to move up in features, functionality, and most important - range for HD movie and game streaming. Right out of the box you are given a very short set of steps and after powering up you are given a custom (per device) password code for access. After that you are set. No extra administration portal configuration like before (unless you really want to).The results - strong WiFi - much more stable than before even for an older laptop with a weak antenna. All in all, great performance and easy set-up. I have not played much with the phone app but what I did do was just as straightforward as the desktop setup. Definitely worth the money even if you don't use all the bandwidth capability.

The router was a snap to set-up and begin using. I had no problems or issues. My wifi speed just about doubled. I went from a Network G router to this model. There are less expensive options but it has made our internet experience much better. It has also made network wireless drives a very practical reality. It is well worth the price.

I did read some reviews and was concerned about set up. Not to worry. It's a snap. Easy and intuitive. I was concerned as well about the range as my previous router was limited in the farthest bedroom in our home. Again, not a problem. We have 2 laptops minimally and when our children are home up to 5. 2 iPads and again more. And Sonos wireless music system. It handles it all. I've not streamed any movies yet so that's the reason for the 4 stars. May update later, but it's worth the money as far as I'm concerned.

It's great! it replaced my DGN 1000 modem/router Which was extremely slow with a max speed of 150 MB per second and only covered the left upper corner of the house. Now coverage extends to a little bit more than half the house and the five Ghz frequency allows the iPad to connect to my work network properly. I did add a 2.4 GB range extender to the bedroom which extends the range to the whole house. I can now sit in the family room and do my work on 5 GHz which I could not before Or sit in the bedroom and do my personal email on 2.4 GHz which I could not Before.

I spent hours and hours trying to get this router to work. I have installed a large number of routers over my life and have never spent anywhere near the time it took to give up on this one. Some of my products had a fairly fast speed but many of them slowed down considerably from an old Netgear router that I have had for 3 years. Speed drop-offs were from 10mbps to 1.5 mbps. My Iphone and Ipad all slowed to a complete crawl. Most connected via Ethernet wire were fast...I buy a new router for almost $200 and see a huge dropoff in speed? Some of my PCs were the same speed as before. I don't understand why but as soon as I hooked up the old router everything went back to high speed again.

Just arrived. set up was super easy, works very well. I recently upgraded to 25mbs. The new router is significantly faster than my previous router. Previous router was Belkin 900.purchased 2 at once. would buy more if I needed more. product is advertised, arrived on time. highly recommend this product, it a no brainer.

I will start off by saying that I am not really a tech person, so this review is written very much in average joe vernacular when it comes to all things computers. That said, I am very glad me and my housemates decided to spend the money on this device as it has effectively eliminated all the problems we were facing before with a POS hand me down router.I live with 4 other guys in a large house near the university we all attend and we needed something that was going to be able to handle the rigors of us students and all of our devices. All of us have laptops, smartphones, and we also have 4 Xbox 360's in the house. We were having all kinds of problems with signal strength in certain parts of the house, dropping connection randomly, and not being able to connect to Xbox Live. After installing this device (which was actually quite simple and the genie program that runs from the browser was aces) all of these prior complaints were eliminated. As a test, all of us had our various devices running and pushing video simultaneously and we still had flawless connectivity.It is a pricey router to be sure, but it was certainly worth it for us. I am very glad we decided to make the investment.

If you purchase this used product get the serial# then contact Netgear and find out if it will be dead-on-arrival. There will be antenna in box suggesting it is extended range, early model no case connectors. Purchasing used product is perilous, lesson learned. If defective you will have nothing plus your cost for return shipping and a very negative experience!

This router is terrible. Getting it up and running is not a problem, but it can't hold a connection to save its life.- PS3s (I have 2) and AppleTV frequently disconnect. Requires router reset for re-connection- MacBook Pro connected to 5GHz gets shifted to 2.4GHz connection for no apparent reason- Range is no better than my older Linksys 4200 N router- 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands require different SSIDs, so you can't just let the client negotiate which band to use. My Linksys can handle the same SSID on both, so why can't this one?I'm returning it to Amazon for a partial refund. I'm past the 30 day return window (I really wanted it to work) but am willing to take an 80% refund for a non-functional product rather than keep it!

I bought this as a refurbished product. I saved a bunch and it works like new. I specifically wanted Dual Band and Gigabit speed. I have had no problems with it. It performed well with 6 wireless computers running in the house during the holidays.

This thing rocks. We were having some problems with a different router for multiple devices and decided to pony up for this router. This thing is lightning fast. I have been streaming an HD movie, listening to streaming music and surfing the web on 4 devices all at the same time with no decrease in connectivity speeds. If you are in the market for a lightning fast wireless router, this is the one for you. It is pricey, but if you hate slow internet, it's worth it

I bought this NetGear router to use on my wife's Nook HD. I managed to get it hooked up and it ran for about three weeks and then crapped out. I called customer service and that ended up being a joke. Every system the tech asked me to check seemed to be working, but the router was locked up. After an hour or so I told her to forget it. I was going to return this dud and get a different router(not NetGear.) I ended up buying a LinkSys unit. The set-up was much simpler and easier and so far there have been no glitches.
