I don't have an unusually big head but this headset was so tight it hurt my ears. The main problem with them was seriously muffled sound. I couldn't bear to use them. My Logitech headset is vastly better.

I wonder if anyone has the same problem. The headset works perfectly with my Windows XP laptop, but not on my Windows 7 laptop. On XP I didn't have to do anything, just plugged into the usb port and the sound worked as expected. On Windows 7, the headset stubbornly refused to pick up the sound. I tried the install CD a few times without success. Then I found a newer version of the driver on the product home page. I threw away the CD and downloaded the newer version of the driver. Bummer. Nothing seems to work at this moment so I'm wondering what I will do with the headset because I bought the headset for the Windows 7 system.If it worked without too much hassle, I would've given a 4 star for the price and the quality. But not being able to get to work on my Windows 7 laptop at this point just really frustrated me. So only 2 stars.Btw, I bought the headset for 24.95 last week and Amazon lowered it to 19.99 today. Doh for me but it's really good price now.

I bought this headset for the PS3 since the market for such products is so narrow--big mistake! The volume plays at max when used with the PS3, and you can't adjust it (the volume controls won't work on the PS3). I had such a headache after using it for not thirty minutes. This is a decent headset for the PC though, which is what it's intended for, so I won't count off for it. This is also not a headset for people with glasses. Common sense should have told me that, so I won't count off for that either. However, what I will count off for is how cheap this product is made. Everything about it is cheap, and I can imagine it's highly breakable. You get what you pay for though, right?

Nice hardware, good sound, comfortable headset. The software supplied is compatible with Vista and Windows XP, NOT Windows 7 (kinda strange that a Microsoft product isn't compatible with their latest OS). The hardware will install via plug and play and Windows 7 will find drivers for the headset. You must select the headset as the default device for it to work and select your speakers as default when switching back to them. An inconvenience but not difficult to do.

The Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 is an absolutely phenomenal headset. The sound quality is amazing and they are truly noise-cancelling! The bass is clear and powerful and there is a handy adjuster at thumb level to manage the volume and mute buttons. They are extremely comfortable and I can wear them for long durations which can't be said for a lot of headphones. The recording quality is professional, clear and VERY easy to use. Its plug and play compatibility is extremely intuitive and I plan to use it when doing professional product demos. I tested the audio using my Audacity recording software and it came through amazingly well. I'm not usually this effusive with praise but these are absolutely worth every bit of their price!If you're in the market for a high quality Skype enabled headset that's easy to use, buy the Lifechat LX-3000. You won't be disappointed.

Super easy setup. Good sound quality. My friends tell me they can finally hear me properly now, so they all got me on mute :\ ..The software ( yes install the software, new version at Microsoft) is minimal and does a good job of switching primary audio and mic to the headset when plugged in.Really though, for the price this thing is really nice. I don't have huge ears ( at least I think so) so these sit very comfortably . I had them on for a few hrs the other day and I actually forgot I had them on.Short and simple, they are $20~, if you don't have front audio ports or a speaker system with 3.5mm jacks on a desktop remote, then just buy these. They work and sound just as good as the $100~ ones.

EDIT: So I ended up using this thing very little. The fact that the head is tight deters me a lot from ever using it, especially not when I just needed to listen to something. I ended up buying another earbud + mic thing instead for even cheaper ($6) and now I use that far more than this. The pain factor (or just headache factor) is a little too great for my liking. :\ I do have to admit, quality with this is better than my other earbud (though that thing original price was also in the $50+), but that might be because I have that weird cover thing on my earbud. That said, I want to change my rating to 3 stars but it's not letting me. lolFirst, note that this is a USB headset, not the old type with the plug for mic and plug for audio, which essentially means the audio and mic goes hand in hand. I didn't realize this when I purchased it until it arrived, so just a heads up.The sound is clear though the noise cancellation part doesn't seem so obvious to me, but that may be because the last noise cancelling headphones I used was the Bose kind that worked REALLY well. I bought this to play games online while talking with my friend. It works well with Skype, and I was able to hear my friend and talk to her even while the bgm and sound effects of the game were on.I've only had it for a couple of weeks and only used it a handful of times so I can't say much about durability yet, but the one thing that did take down a star for me was how tight it is. The ear part fits around your ears, but due to the tightness of the entire headset, it still gave me a headache within an hour. Because it's USB, I was not able to separate it by using my speakers for listening and just using the mic. I think maybe if your head's smaller it's less of a problem? Or possibly I need to break them in a bit first so that it won't be so tight.I guess the only good thing is it prevents me from playing for a really long time! O__O

This product has been a great buy so far. The sound quality and mic quality are great I have so far had no issues whatsoever with the performance of the product. But there is a downside which is comfort when the headphones are used for a extended period of time it is uncomfortable and causes pain. This maybe due to the fact that I wear glasses but then again this has been suggested in other reviews as well. But overall I think this would be a great buy if you don't mind a little discomfort to the ears.

All around AWESOME product, This headset along with my HD Audio driver and software provided with me new Zotac 8100 chipset, makes this headset an AWESOME addition to gaming quality! Makes you feel like your in the war! (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)I also use it for playing World Of Warcraft on ventrilo as well and people say they can hear me clearly with no static or voice break ups. I rate this product from Microsoft 5 STARS. Easy setup, easily compatible with HD Audio drivers, Giving HD gaming go to a whole new level of performance! Very impressed with this headset. The headset it self is rather large so it fits completely over my ears, (unlike previous headsets that sit on top of your ears) so this makes it so your ears WONT HURT after a few hours of use! Any other head set I used made my ears red and hurt after an hour, these are comfortable as it gets!THANK YOU MICROSOFT!!! A+++ 5 Respectful Stars!-Jay

The biggest disappointment when setting these up is the fact that Microsoft forces you to download Windows Live Messenger to install the drivers for these headphones. I don't plan to use Windows Live, so I changed the configuration to not have it start each time I boot up. Those I've talked to on the phone while using these have been very impressed. Sound and microphone quality is excellent. Fit is very tight, could get uncomfortable after more than 15 minutes.

I bought this headset 2 weeks back. I am extremely unhappy with it. Firstly it is very bulky to carry around. It is not at all comfortable on ears. My ears hurt even wearing this for 10 mins. Sound quality is just OK. Do no buy this product.

I opened it and it was wraped in a plastic and it didnt come with a manual so I had to look it up online to find the instructions. At first i just plugged it in to see if it works right out of the box which failed. Then i process to download the software and it still didnt work so i ended up returning it out of my pocket and got a refund.

I had this headset for about four months before it broke down. Specifically, the mic stopped working unless I pinched the cable in just the right way. At first I thought that moving the mic up and down had weakened some wire inside of the joint, but after I opened it up that didn't seem to be the case. Something inside of the thick, main wire that extends from the base of the headset had failed and as a result I couldn't use the mic at all. (I've actually had a similar problem with another Microsoft product - namely the wireless dongle for Xbox controllers or wireless headsets has a weak wire that breaks and requires pinching in just the right fashion...).While it worked this headset was great, but once the mic broke I stopped using it. Since I've had two MS products break down in their wires, I'm tempted to think that it was more than just bad luck. I'd shop around a bit before settling on this headset just to be sure there aren't more reliable manufacturers out there...

well so far so good with this product. i have been using it for a while now and the only complaint i have (and i dont know if it is just that i have a bit bigger ears lol), but the ear pad gets to hurting after a few hrs of use. they were soppose to set completely around the ear and one sets on the ear instead. and thats the only complaint from me, other than that they dork all great for gaming and chatting.as far as using them on yahoo chat though they automatically turn themselves down even if you turn that option off so i would assume its actually in yahoo not the headset. due to the fact that that is the only one that they have any problems with!so i say to yahoo hay plz fix the problem lol.

Hey these are outstanding, does everything they say they do. I didn't even have to install the software to get them to work for my online games and chat. Haven't tried Windows Live Messenger but even if I need the software for it, that is to be expected. I haven't tried any internet phone calls yet so i can't comment on that. Friends in gamechat and on vent complement me on my clear voice. The price here at Amazon was great because some places I have seen want as much as $40.00 for them. Good, solid, nice sounding, comfortable (at least for me) and easy to use. I do wish the inline volume control would have had a clip on it.

I've had the Microsoft LX-3000 headphones for 1.5 years now. Previously I had tried some Sony $30 headphones (multiple times) and some $80 Sennheiser headphones and always end up with the same problem - one of the speakers goes out within 3-6 months. One of the speakers either stops working completely or I have to try and twist the wire appropriately to get it to come back on.I haven't had a problem with these at all. I bought them at BB and foolishly paid $6 for the 3 year extended warranty because of my previous bad luck with headphones thinking I would definitely be returning them for a replacement set. So far they have been great.I'm a heavy listener on Pandora and songs sound just fine with these headphones. I have used the microphone for gaming a few times in Ventrillo and there were no problems at all.The only con I'd give it is sometimes the inline volume control presses against the bottom of my computer desk and hits the + volume so it gets really loud when I'm not expecting it. But that's partly due to bad posture (slouching) and a good sized belly lol.They won't change your life like a 3 wolf T-shirt would but for $25 they are an excellent choice in headphones.

The biggest problem with this headset is that it doesn't work with Windows 7 so, if like me you've got a new computer, the only way to make it work is by finding and downloading some other software to overcome the problem that these headphones aren't up to date.They're a bit tight on the head and no obvious way to stop that pressure. I'd suggest they'd be too uncomfortable for extended use. 1 hour was acceptable to me.

I am a gamer and have been for over 6 years and I have been through alot of sets.I use Ventrilo and teamspeak alot during gaming and have always needed a good set to use for this reason. Before purchasing This set I have used many from the cheap set for $10 or so up to a $80 set and this by far as got to be the best set for the money hands down.The only major downturn that I have for this is the volume control/mute feature In the mid-line. This is a big device that i find get's caought on many things and I am worried that the wires may tear lose from the inside. Other then this i give this set 4 1/2 stars.A must have for the gamer in you!!!

I was given this item as a suggestion for a headset/mic to use with Skype and did so a bit reluctantly. However, once I recieved it, and installed it within a minute or two, I was impressed. While the headset is snug, it does give you great sound quality. The ability to adjust the mic placement is great. I especially like the volume controls option as well as the mute feature. I have been extremely impressed so far!

I don't find the headset comfortable. The earpieces are very heavy and don't quite fit my ears, though my ears are quite normal, they leave a slightly stinging sensation after a very short while.My biggest objection, though, is to the placement of the control pad about 18 inches from the earpiece. You can't change the position of the control pad and in my case this meant that I couldn't safely tuck the USB cord behind my desk because it would have made the controls unreachable. Also, the mute button on the control pad is not recessed and as the badly-designed pad brushes again the desk, the chair etc. it tends to activate the mute button without you noticing it. I'm not going to buy a Microsoft headset again. This headset was cheap and does seem reliable but is not ergonomic and is very badly designed.

This was my first headset and it was definitely a good one! Once you get the hang of how to use it, it works very well. The only problem I had was trying to get the headset to work if I did not want to engage in chat and rather just listen to music.

No one can hear me and there is no way to up the mic gain that I have discovered - you can turn up the earpiece volume - but when talking, Everyone says I am "too quiet"Short of shoving the mic down my throat - I have found no control of that.I have to figure out how to get the darn thing back, since I tossed out the box and packaging :(Don't buy this dud!!

I bought my LifeChat LX-3000 at Staples and paid full retail. The headset works well, but the microphone is attached to the headset with a cheap little plastic joint. Mine snapped after about 6 months of light use. You are better off buying a higher quality set, or just be prepared to buy a new one every year.

For low-use, this headset might be ok. For frequent use there are much better options. My biggest complaint is the cord, it constantly seems to twist itself up, even if you take good care of it. The twisting causes the wires inside to break, a loose connection on the pendant volume/mic control has caused the mic to crackle every time I turn the mic on, which has rendered this headset useless.The ear pieces are also quite uncomfortable, if you have anything other than small ears. Not only are the ear slots not big enough to fit fully around my ears, but they are not deep enough, which causes my ears to press against the hard plastic on the inside (the thin foam layer doesn't protect very well), causing extended use to become quite painful.Sound quality is so-so or poor, there's a definite lack of bass.I've bought some cheap headsets but these are, by far, the worst I've ever purchased. Do yourself a favor, spend the money on a nicer headset or, at the very least, something else.
