This is a great product that I have been using with SKYPE. The headset is very comfortable, even after extended periods of use and interfaces with SKYPE without any problems. The software loaded without any issues, but isfor Microsoft LiveChat, also the contols seem to work only with LiveChat.Give this product a try, you will not be disappointed.Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset

These headphones are a great quality, good price and built well. However, the comfort zone on these are missing. I can not wear them for any longer than 30 minutes without coming away with a screaming headache. Also, the deep muting of surrounding noise make them rather disconcerting to use for voice chat.Your mileage may vary.

I bought this for my son who uses it for gaming and he is blown away by the details in the sound that he can get with this headset! It has definitely improved his gaming as he can now hear details that he missed before! This set certainly has exceeded what I was expecting for such a great price! If you are a gamer, this is a must have!

I bought this headset 3 months ago and slowly just fell apart. First it was the right speaker then the microphone. Now it is useless to me. I used this product everyday with skype and I am a little disappointed on how long it lasted.

Iam so disappointed with the headset,infact i just feel like trashing it.This is because the headset was broken on the left ear and the guy just tapped it together.I feel i should have been specifically informed about the headset condition before ordering.

I'm an avid gamer. I use my headsets for realtime voice communication as well as in lieu of speakers (I game in my living room a lot and don't like the computer to drown out everything else that's happening).Pros:Good sound qualityGood microphone pickupCons:Tight on the ears, even with the "soft" earpadsPoorly designed 'mute' button comes on accidentally all too oftenHad two units fail within 30 days of purchaseIt's that last line that compels me to write a review. I picked up two of these headsets on the same weekend, one for myself and one for my girlfriend. Both units worked great right out of the box, no complaints at all about them - until now, just outside thirty days after purchase. My gf's headset has had the entire right speaker short out, while mine has developed a problem with the wiring in the oversized button console. Half the time my headset won't transmit now; the other half, I send either an incredibly loud burst of static, or I get normal voice output. I can't seem to control what's happening with it.I'm tempted to break out some wire-cutters and remove the button console from the center of the headset wire. I don't use it anyway. I don't know if that will fix the problem or irrevocably destroy the headset, though as time goes on, I'm caring less and less about the ultimate outcome. Something must be done.I'll probably spend a few more dollars and go for a higher end headset next time.

This headset works perfectly on Mac OS X. I'm running Mac OS 3.9. I read another review here that said it works on Mac OS 4 too. I bought this headset because that was the best review I read for a USB headset that works on Macs.I just plug this headset in and it works without needing to adjust anything. I use it for Skype all the time. People on the other end of the phone hear me loud and clear and the speakers are great quality.This is a great buy!

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE OR ARE PLANNING ON UPGRADING TO VISTA!!!!! After buying a new computer with the latest and greatest OS I have had nothing but problems with this. It does not work. I start playing music and a short while later the sound cuts out and I have to restart windows. Not fun. Support is non-existant for this product. All you can find online is the download for the software, and there are no answers. You can forget about up to date drivers as they have not been updated from version 1.0 written in 2006. It also hurts your ears A LOT after about 15 minutes of wear. Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset

I bought this headset to use in recording my poetry as audio files. A major drawback is that I am unable to hear myself through the earphones as I record, so that I cannot tell if I am speaking too loudly, or not loudly enough.The first time that I used them I found the earphones uncomfortable after just a few minutes, leaving my ears aching. Since then, I have not noticed this as much. I also found the strap over the head to cause some discomfort, and prefer that it be padded.Since I was not sitting at a desk, the heavy inline button caused the USB cord to swing, bumping the mic boom and causing thumps on the recordings. I have compensated by slinging it over my shoulder to get it out of the way, but should not have to do this--it is very inconvenient.This headset is presently working for me, but leaves me disappointed. For the money invested, though, it does an adequate job. The voice quality of the recordings is better than when I used another, cheaper headset.

I have purchased two of the Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 headsets so far. One for myself and one for a friend. Both of them have exceptional quality and I've been pleased with them. While I feel that in some ways Microsoft made these products to integrate with their own chat program, I use it fine with VoIP programs and other chat programs. It is comfortable to wear and I would buy it again. It has great noise-cancelling qualities overall, and portrays a clear voice.

I bought this set to use for my job. I work from home via VOIP and after day-to-day usage, this set started crackling after about 4 months. I currently have two strips of duct tape holding the wires to the mute/volume pod to keep the wires in place to prevent further static crackling until i can get a better pair.The headphones are really good at lowering outside noise, i'll give them that.. perhaps due to the around-the-ear design.

I was about ready to shell out almost triple the cost of these headsets for another high end pair. At the last minute I changed my mind.I couldn't be happier with this set. The sound quality is very good,(I use it for both music and skype calls). The music comes through beautifully, as do the people on skype.I've been told the mic is very clear as well. (I really have no other way of judging this aspect.)I would definitely grab these for the quality, the usb feature. These are a perfect mid-class level headset with high end quality. For the price these just can't be beat.I would go for these rather then the costlier higher end sets that produce the same results.Happy Listening!

These headphones are by far the BEST and most comfortable headphones with a microphone that I have ever tried. I like that they cover the entire ear fully. Some people like the smaller headphones, but they don't get rid of the background noise for me. With the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset it shuts out almost all of the background and again they are so comfortable!!

I needed a USB headset with microphone (Microsoft compatabile)for an online class I am taking. After reading many reviews, I chose the Microsoft Lifechat LX 3000. The price was excellent. The headset is comfortable even after several hours of use. The microphone adjusts out of the way when I am not using it. I have been using it less than 2 months but would recommend it.

This headset works fine, although the audio quality leaves quite a bit to be desired in my opinion. However wearing these is like torture. They are heavy and restrictive on your ears and I cannot wear them for more than 3 minutes before the pressure on my temples becomes unbearable and my ears get all hot and itchy. I have never worn such an uncomfortable headset before. Stay well away is my advice.

This is the best headset I ever had. I had no problems installing on my XP and Vista machines. The OSes automatically detected the headset via USB port and installed the driver. I only gave it a four-star because I did not realize that it is using USB port and not the typical headset and microphone jacks when I was ordering. My old XP machine has only one USB port and I used it for my external USB optical mouse most of the time. Anyway, this is a great product along with MS LifeCam VX 3000 and the price is excellent. I would recommend to buy this product. In fact, I'm buying a second one for my work.

I bought this headset after trying 5-6 different headsets. This one is pretty comfortable on the ears. The only thing is that the maximum sound you hear is not as loud as some regular earbuds, but that isn't much problem. So far I am happy with this headset

I bought Microsoft Mic because I tought it would be well constructed and have great sound quality. I figured paying more would improve the quality. It worked for one month, and then microphone and sound went bad. The conection to the ear peace became loose. I took it back and exchanged it for a new one and it lasted about one month as well. It may be the heavy volume control in middle of cord. Since this is the 2nd one I have used I must assume its a poor design! I would not recomemmend anyone buy this!

I would have rated this a 5 star but the sound clarity seems a little bit off or a touch muffled to me however this could possibly be adjusted in the settings but i haven't monkied with it yet.It still sounds great tho and the noise cancellation is a really nice feature to have if you are raiding and trying to concentrate. That means you aren't going to be distracted so much by what your friend (who is in the same room) is watching on tv or doing at thier computer.For world of warcraft this is really great to use for vent or other chat programs as well as gameplay sound. I did have a few problems getting the sound to work on wow but i realized after i went through my control panel settings that i just had to change the settings in the "sound options" tab *ON* WOW before i could hear "any" in game sound. You just have to select the headset name under the hardware tab. Pretty simple once you know what you have to do. Hope this helps someone else who has the same issue. All in all, this is a very nice headset that can be used for many things, it's comfy and durable as well so i would in fact buy it again.

This is my first review.I purchased the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 at Best Buy a week ago, to use with Skype. The ear pieces are very tenuously "secured" to the head strap bracket. While carrying them to the office in my bag, both ear pieces fell off and the thin connecting wires broke.In short, the build quality is terrible. I highly recommend choosing a different headset.This is one of the lowest quality products I have every purchased.

This was my first very owned headset, when i first used it, i was pretty satisfied.the sound was good. the next day i tried it, nothing worked and i was hearing a static when i touched the remote. my technical guess is that the wire shorted in the giant remote, and truthfully, the wire and the remote felt kinda flimsy. There was a review about the same problem i read on this site and i figured whats the chances that all the same problem is going to occur to me, especially from microsoft, god damn i was terribly wrong, punished for 2 weeks without a headphone because i decided to go with a brand name which i thought i could trust. dont let the same thing happen to you

Here's a summary of why I would give it 2 stars:- Awkward ear alignment that is uncomfortable... why am I smooshing my ears into holes in hard foam rings? From this experience I can tell you it's not one-size-fits-all.- Poor sound quality. It's not the worst, but it's enough you can notice pings of scratchy sound distortion here and there. I would not want to watch movies or play games on these.- Decent casual use microphone. Not good enough for recording since it doesn't perfectly filter other noise, but somewhat better than the worst bargain rate microphones.- Retail price is ridiculous. If you need a chatting only headset this is maybe worth the $15-20 marked down, but the original retail is ridiculous for this rather limited product.

I bought these because my $50 altec lansings i had for about a year broke. I use them mainly for gaming and listening to jam music. the sound quality is awesome and usb makes it very easy to use. the software that came with it was useless because no drive was able to recognize it but the software wasnt needed because microsoft recognized the headphones instantly.
