Never worked properly. Received without instructional disc. Had to contact Microsoft to help resulting in only temporary fix. Possibly incompatible with Skype? Just ordered another headset from different manufacturer to avoid further frustration from this unreliable product.

I bought this because I used a friend's and loved it. The sound quality is great, it sounds exactly like your voice. Playing music or listening to anything it sounds pretty darn good for 24 dollars worth. Low cost, great product, quality results. Totally recommend getting a pair to anyone on a budget or who just needs a reliable headset for Skype or any other voice chat program.

I bought this at full price and don't regret it.They're very comfortable and durable.Just plug it in and it works.However, because it's USB, if you're switching between headphones and speakers, you have to close and reopen the program for it to recognize the change.It works on PS3 with no problems, xbox wants you to buy their $80 crappy mics though.I've had them for about three years now with no signs of wear.Noise cancellation is pretty much null, though that's not always a bad thing.

I was pretty hesitant about buying this microphone at first, but after reading all the positive reviews here I went ahead and placed an order for a pair.I gotta say I'm pretty happy with the results. The mic pics up my voice very well and doesn't trigger from my breath like my old mic did. The earcups are nice and comfy for the most part, but do take some adjusting before you find a position that's perfect.A very minor complaint: for those of us that wear glasses it may be uncomfortable to have them on at the same time as these headphones. It presses the arms on my glasses into the side of my head unless I position them just right.

Here are the reasons i came to my conclusion,mind you i have only had these a couple of days. But i dont imagine suddenly my reasons would change in-timei paid alittle over 22$ and wasnt expecting an amazing headset. And i wasnt disappointed.This headset at first feels nice, but in less then an hour my head started to get all tingly as if it were going numb. Im thinking it clamps too hard,considering my head is small, i have it on the lowest adjusment.-1 star for thisThe cups fit snuggly on my earsMusic sounds a little tunnely or muffled. As if there is alot of bass. -1 star for thisThe mic quality is fine, no problems there. The in line volume control is large so you can always find it. I dont have a problem with its size.The cord is of good length, enough for me to hook it into my pc and turn towards the tv and back without yanking it out of the pc.wished it would be a tad louder, but not gonna take that away from it.it does a decent job of keeping outside noise out and inside noise in.They feel sturdy, that is if your not throwing it against a wall :)Im ok with everything except for the fact it feels like its squeezing my brain.The reviews who gave it a five..i dont know what headset you are wearing

I've had this headset for over a year, and have had no issues out of it what-so-ever!!! The sound quality is superb especially the deep bass!!! I'm a huge online gamer, and use the thins for no less then 4 hours a day with my games (Bad Company 2, CoD4, etc). I read a lot of reviews that say they are crap... to the contrary, they are the best set Ive ever owned! Definitely recommend them to anyone on a tight budget, but wanting a good headset!!***UPDATE***My Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 JUST BROKE!!! I got these things over 2 years ago and they have just now bit the farm! NOT because of design flaw, or factory defects, but from my kids rolling over them with the chair!! (Grr!) Even with the headband part slightly broken, I was able to rig it with 3 zip ties and held for another 6 months... but alas, they finally gave way and finished snapping into pieces! The sounds still worked GREAT!! Looking to buy another pair to replace mine!

I've owned this headset for 3 years. It just now broke on me. Before then, it was completely reliable and clear. I'm not too sure about its noise canceling abilities as I've only used it when the house was quiet. But, I've used it for both listening to music on my PC and completing internet calls using various software (i.e. Google Voice, Skype, Oovoo). The only downfall to this headset is that it is rather bulky and uncomfortable at times. This is not ideal for all day use (which is what I need it for). If you are using this headset on occasion, it isn't bad at all.

I've only had this headset for a few days now, but so far its great! It's comfortable and the sound quality is through the roof(I love movie soundtracks and they sounds great on these) The mic is great too, though it picks up a bit of background noise.

For the price this is an astounding headset. Though I bought this headset for a webinar, the sound quality is exceptional for listening to CDs - as good as much more expensive Sennheisers I have, having a wide dynamic range down to a very deep bass. The side microphone conveniently moves up, out of the way, for headphone use, and down for skype use. However, there are some niggles, most of which can be fixed with a tweak.(1) Whilst the sound is excellent, it has a overly bassy feel, particularly when listening to CDs. This can be fixed by enabling the EQ facility in Windows Media Player (for instructions search google for your version of WMP and 'equalizer').(2) There is a control pod in the USB cable with a microphone mute, headphone volume and Microsoft Live button. The latter button is big and frequently pressed by accident, bringing up a screen for Live Chat (very annoying if you don't use it). However, this button can be disabled by renaming the file "c:/Program Files/Microsoft LifeChat/LifeChat_wlc.chm" to something else.(3) The headphones are so effective at blocking out external noise that, when using Skype, it is difficult to hear oneself. This isn't narcissm! Not being able to hear one's own voice can make one lose concentration when talking. In Skype calls I therefore slip one of the earphones slightly off my ear to let in some external sound. There are some software fixes (eg: in the control panel, set the "listen" option in the USB headset microphone device properties). However, there is always a slight, disconcerting delay due to digital/analogue conversion, so I prefer the off-ear method.(4) If the cable catches on something solid (eg: a zip or its own control pod) the sound transmits up the cable and into the headset. This can be avoided by rerouting the cable.(5) If the computer is busy, there can occasionally be a very minor blip in the sound. This seems to be a USB problem rather than a problem with the headset (the quality of the headset means you'll notice it though, whereas on lesser equipment it might be missed). This is so infrequent and minor that it doesn't cause any real annoyance.Having said all that, I give this headset 5 stars because of the value for money (it is high quality and has a low price).

I bought this headset at Staples for $29.99 (down from $41.99) because I was in search of a way to improve the audio quality for screencasts, Skype and iChat. The packaging does not specifically say it is compatible with Apple computers, but it most definitely is. I did not install the software that came with the headset, although I assume that it's required in order to use it with Windows Live. The LifeChat has a remote attached, with a mic mute button, a Windows Live call button and volume up/down controls. The great thing about the volume is that it controls the Macbook's system volume directly.The headset is comfortable but can feel a little bulky if you're not accustomed to having your ears completely covered by the pads. The advantage of this is that all external noises become blocked out. I was immediately impressed with the how great the bass sounded, even when just watching a YouTube video. In fact, if you flip the mic out of your way, you can use this as headphones. In order to use it with your Mac computer (I'm running Snow Leopard), go to System Preferences -- Sound -- Sound Effects/Output/Input to configure the headset. It should show up in your options.Compared to the Macbook's built-in microphone (that I thought was decent) this headset cancels SO much of the background noise. This is especially nice if you're creating screencasts or video tutorials/reviews. As a bonus, the microphone is even decent for beatboxing, if anyone is wondering. It's not the same quality as a full microphone, but it's definitely adequate.Pros- Nice, long cord- Great headphone sound quality- Wonderful noise cancellation- Volume controls Mac soundCons- Can feel a little bulky- Remote can be annoying- Having to configure the headset in Sound settings every timeOverall, I'm very satisfied with how well the Microsoft/Apple combination is working out!

I got this for use with a Mac Mini (which requires a USB microphone).It's lasted for more than a year without any problems. It's comfortable in that I can have 1-2 hour Skype conversations without any discomfort, though, it can get a bit hot when the weather is warmer. Microphone quality is good, but not outstanding. Sound quality is great for conversation and has better definition than my generic speakers, but not as good as the Sennheiser headset I also have. Overall, very good value.

When I first purchased these headphones, I thought they were a good deal for the price I paid. However, I wear glasses and the huge sound attenuators that cover the ears hurt my ears after wearing them for a time. The headphones sound great when you adjust them with Windows Media Player 8's graphic equalizer. But the reason I gave them such poor sound quality is because when you hear the sounds of collective voices and horn sections in music recordings, the sound doesn't sound that well. Incidentally, the headphones have a great bass sound to them. When the bass sounds in your recordings comes out, it comes out BIG with these headphones! Other than that, don't try to listen to any songs that need to be sung because you'll only be frustrated.When I use Microsoft's Life Chat LX 3000 headphones with my Skype account that's another story altogether. When connected to the Skype account, there is an error message in Skype that says "...microphone volume is too low..." while dialing and making phone calls. I have made calls using this product and the people that I've contacted to has stated that they can hear me, but with static. To me, there's seems to be a lot of static within the headphones themselves, which makes enjoying them much more unbearable.Would I recommend them to anyone? Maybe, with caution, since I've only had the headphones for four days. If you're listening to good jazz or rock music, fine. But if you're listening to classical music, no. I have read previous post that said these headphones are good for playing video games. Personally, I think that they are. The range of bass and treble is good, though you have to adjust for them. The price I paid for these headphones are good, and they work just fine for what I need them for.

i read several reviews about the headset and got the idea the mic sometimes breaks. i've kept that in mind and adjust from connected end instead of tip of mic and have had no problems. i was glad for that tip before i bought it. i'd buy it again if ever needed.

My wife and I have just gotten hooked on using Skype now that we are very recent Grandparents for the first time and want to stay in touch with my son and his wife who are out of state. We wanted to improve the quality of sound for our calls and get beyond the built-in mic and speakers of the MacBook Pro. Many other reviewers on Amazon rated this headset as an excellent choice for the Mac. They were right! Having just received them and used them, they are immediately recognized by the Mac and show up in the system Preferences Sound settings (to use the headset over the built-in mic and speakers, you'll need to select it there as well as in 'Skype preferences too!). Volume levels are quite high for both input and output so you will have plenty of volume if you need it. The mic is very sensitive and also offers plenty of volume if you need it) The +,- volume and mute controls directly on the headset cable works perfectly with the Mac. The on-screen volume level indicator displays as it would using the Mac keyboard. Sound quality seems excellent (I can hear everything clearly!), even for my poor-average and slowly degrading hearing. I can't rate the comfort of these headphones over a long time of using them in one session, but, other reviewers seem to say they are extremely comfortable. I agree in that the fit over ear is perfect and the softness of the "cushions" on each ear-piece are firm, but, very comfortable and seem of excellent quality so they won't begin to collapse or compress over time. Build quality seems very good as well for an under $20 headset. The ability to use these on a USB connection rather then the input/output jacks of a laptop using two plugs, make them quick to connect and disconnect. I assume they'll work fine as well if we use a pair of these at the same time to share a call or even on a USB2 hub. We're delighted with this purchase and price and of course, that it interfaces with a Mac so very well. The LifeChat LX-3000 is highly recommended for your Mac if you want a great headset without investing a lot into it.

This product is average in most all areas. The sound is good but nothing spectacular. The mic is also average. After having this item on my head for an hour or so my ears ache due to the way the padding lye's on my ears. Was not expecting a product that was top of the line with what I paid for it. It is a decent product for the price. There are just better items out there for just a little more money. It comes down to how much you want to pay on many of these types of products.

It's a nice headset, but after a while the left side became loose and undone. Then, months later it eventually fell out completely. Great for the time you have it, but if you're not careful you will end up half-deaf on the internet.

I purchased this as my first usb headset. Analog just wasn't cutting it anymore. It has excellent sound and is quite comfortable for the price. Windows 7 installed it immediately. I use it for speech recognition and for watching video and listening to music. I am very pleased and I recommend it to anyone looking for a low price great sounding headset.

There are several occasions in which I need to record myself for screencasts or informal podcasts to work colleagues, but this is the first time I get in a headset a mike which records really without ANY noise. The recording is cristal-clear, and I'm loving it. My only complaint is that it is a little uncomfortable and can't be used for many hours in a row without some pain in the ears.

you can hear every whisper when you hear a song it is like you hear different song with 3D voice ,it fits greatly on the head the mic is amazing ,i ve made international call and throug the nternet and they said like i am speaking near their ears the only thing is that it will not fit every program i your computer especially the internet calling programs so you just need to make the setting and every thing will be good

I purchased this headset for Skype, and it really is a great headset. The sound and mic quality are both top notch. Calls are crystal clear, and you really notice the bass when turned up. The in-line remote is handy when watching a movie for volume up and down, and for muting the mic when necessary. My only complaint is that the actual ear padding needs some work. It's not bad in short bursts, but for long use (Over two hours) starts to strain your ears. Granted, I suppose this won't happen to everyone, but that's really my only complaint. My friend, who also has the LX-3000, complains that the mic mute button can be easily turned on by just being bumped, but I've yet to encounter this. Overall, I have no serious complaints about this product that should steer you away for it.

A great product for the price, really... even if MS didn't /actually/ make the product, they found someone who knows what they are doing. Only annoying part of the unit is the volume/mute control about 1/3 the way down the headset. You WILL bump into this rather frequently and as my last one can attest, you'll end up breaking the microphone wires inside the sealed plastic unit. Keep it in your pocket or a way your left arm isn't going to bump it and you should be fine. Otherwise, a 5 star product.
