This is the 2nd LX-3000 that I have purchased. I use it when I do not want to disturbe others in the house. They both do the job for which they were purchased. I use one for my laptop and one for my PC.

Overall, not a bad headset. Some companies do not approve this product for use with Lync messenger. My only concern is that the headset is not comfortable for long-term use, and hence, I use a different headset to listen to music, while I use this one for lync calls.

Complete Total GARBAGE. Item is Clearly a REFURBISHED unit with only left ear working, No mic, no Right side sound. Used the install disk of crapware which made no difference except more of my time to Remove the junk it added. Came in a crumpled clear plastic bag with all the graphic cards from the Original packaging stuff inside around the original flimsy plastic form that holds the headphones which was also beat up and torn. Likely cost more to return than its worth. This will be my last purchase via Amazon. This kind of thing has happened far to many times now.

This headset is great for the average user on a computer, whether you're a gamer, music lover, or just someone talking over the Internet. These will do the job for most of what you're looking for. These are NOT for audiophiles. However, the bass is incredibly heavy.

I agree with everyone who has said that the lifechat button is extremely irritating. I had thought I wouldn't accidentally hit the button, but I did because of it's poor placement. And everytime I did, the popup was disturbed what I was doing and made me hate the existence of that button.The sound quality and microphone quality seemed very good.I used these headphones relatively rarely, but after not using them for several months, I went to use them this morning and I got a jarbled sound from the headphones. I checked to be sure it wasn't the USB port by switching ports, still was jarbled. Then I checked that it wasn't the sound card in the computer by switching to the speakers, perfect sound quality. Mystery solved, these headphones don't last, even with little use. :-(

The microphone for this headset is simply amazing. I purchased this headset mostly for use with Rosetta Stone (currently learning Tagalong and Japanese). The mic picks up every single tonal inflection I make. The microphones on previous headsets that I own (Plantronics Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset and a Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset (Black) )do not even come close. The Noise-canceling truly works. One of the rooms in which I use my pc has a very noisy ceiling fan. The mics on the aforementioned headsets would always pickup on this. However the LX-3000 completely filters it out. The sound unfortunately is a mixed bag compared to the other headsets, not too much bass or treble. Nevertheless opted for this headset for the mic and nothing more. Overall I am very satisfied with this headset

I got my first headset three years ago and it worked so well! Good sound, comfortable, easy to install. I used it to listen to music, use skype, and never had a problem. It survived moving to and from my dorm, falling numerous times off of my desk, and getting tangled. So when it finally died, I decided to get the same brand. Unfortunately, something must have happened in those three years because my second headset just broke after 3 weeks. I was even extra careful with it this time after reading the reviews about delicate wires. I noticed that a lot of the 4 and 5 star reviews are actually from a few years ago. The newer versions seems to be breaking like crazy. I've decided to go with a different brand, hopefully it will be better.

This is a very bassy HP. The bass is pushed up on this set. Mids are where they should be. Highs are recessed and lacking. I currently have a Sony MDR7506 and Sony MDR-V600, so i am comparing this headset to the Sonys.

I bought my LX-3000 a few weeks ago at a local store. It was new, with the factory seals on the packaging. I use it with a couple of laptops - one with Windows XP and one with Windows 7. On both the installation was effortless, although the Windows 7 install took a while to get the drivers off the web - but it was completely automatic with no user direction required after just plugging it in to a USB port.For the price, the sound is good and the mic sound is good as well. I wouldn't try to use it outside in any kind of breeze based upon the care I had to use to avoid the mic picking up breathing sounds, but in an indoor office environment it works well.For the most part I used it 2 to 4 times a week, with the rest of the time the headset is in my laptop bag.My only (and big) complaint is with the lack of robustness of the mic wiring - as it goes in and out of the little box with the mic mute and volume control buttons. For a while I could get the mic to work by gently wiggling the wires on the USB connector side of that box. This morning it seems to have died completely but for occasional crackling noises. I don't consider my usage to be physically abusive and I have had another headset (a Sony) last 4 years in the same usage. From what I can tell, the weak spot on these headsets appears to be the mic wiring to the little control box in the middle. I saw a previous reviewer comment on failure after 40 days, and another user with 8 of them comment on how a number of them had failed after around 6 months of use. My experience is between these, but I do have a mic wiring failure after what I consider a short time of non-abusive use.

If you have a smaller than average head, I suppose it won't hurt you. But I wasn't so lucky.Prior to a five hour long session providing online support using VOIP, the only complaint I had was that the headset was just a bit snug. Although improving, my left ear is still in pain after five days. Audio quality of both the mike and earphones are fine, but the long term comfort level gets a -3 stars. I would award three stars if the pain abated after a day. Presently, I can't stand to wear them at all but I my job requires it when I'm working remote.I checked my hat size and at 7 1/4 it is a common size. It seems MS did not design these for the average person.From a Hat web site:"The most common male size is 7-' and the average hat size for females is 7-?"

when i got this last month i hear perfect i have no problemsno nothing.others told me they can hear me perfectly..even if the tv is on they cant hear the tv..i use it 4 skype and it is wonderfuli would recommend this to everyone im using it for my laptopHp Pavilion DV6

This product has following things,1. Good quality audio2. nice micbut i have experienced following cons when using this product,1. Device is not automatically detecting in Windos7 Operating system when plug oftentimes.2. Device has voice echo to what we say.-Thank you

Other reviews cover many of the fundamental quality and longevity of this headset, but I would like to speak mostly about the total lack of comfort. I have an average sized head and could not believe how incredibly tight these were. They are uncomfortable from the first moment you put them on, squeezing hard around the perimeter of your ears. After an hour-long teleconference, my ears and the tissue around them were sore and throbbing. I also had to extend the earphones all the way to get them to even cover my ears, which causd them to be tight against the top of my head as well. The sound is actually quite good and the microphone appears to work well. I had no trouble simply plugging the headset into an open USB port and waiting just a moment for Windows 7 to automatically installing the necessary drivers. Despite the good sound, clarity and ease of immediate use, the lack of comfort makes the headset a complete fail for me. One other complaint lies with the microphone positioning; I found it quite difficult to move the flex arm to a suitable location. I finally had to over-extend it beyond where I wanted and gently pull back to the desired location for best outgoing quality.

This is my first day using the Microsoft life chat USB headset XL- 3000. I have read a great many of the reviews regarding this product. Before I purchased it. I was impressed because I was looking for a replacement for my headset that came with my Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice-recognition software that was more durable and reliable. I have discovered with the USB headset microphone combination that it is quite simply far more accurate. When using voice recognition, such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5. I love the comfort and feel of the headset on my head. The boom microphone is outstanding and it reproduces music quite well for the price. I did have a minor problem when I first installed the USB headset on my laptop computer. I have to call Microsoft technical support to help me understand why I was not hearing sound from the earphones. It turned out that I had to go into Control Panel and make the USB headset part of the default system for listening to music and initiating communications. After I was walked through that process. I have had no problems at all. There is one slight problem that it really is just a minor annoyance. When I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking the your phones muffled the outside noise so much that it sounds like I have a pillow over my ears when I talk. But I think I can get used to that. It is a great trade-off for the music quality, voice recognition accuracy, and especially the price. So, if you're looking for a good headset with a microphone for gaming, or voice-recognition. For example, use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, or online communications, such as Skype or Windows live chat. This is a great one to use.

This headset actually works well, but it is so uncomfortable to wear that I don't use it. I found success with the Panasonic KX-TCA60 Hands-Free Headset with Comfort Fit Headband and the Headset Buddy Adapter 01-PH25-PC35 Phone Headset to PC Adapter. That combination not only sounds great, but it so comfortable I forget to take it off.

I absolutley love this headset. The price is very reasonable and the quality of both the input and output sound is great! I'm on my third pair of these at the moment. The demise of the previous two were no fault of the product, one had the cord eaten by a cat. The other I managed to step on after leaving it on the floor and my soldering skills couldn't save it. I've recommended this headset to several people who have all been satisfied with this product.Only drawback is that it is USB only. That being said, I don't believe it should get marked down for that because the product clearly states that it is a USB headset.

I got this headset after watching a youtubers video of his gaming setup. I was surprised how good the microphone quality is, you don't even need to put it right by your mouth I keep it about lets say my upper lip or under my chin lol. And if you use msn has a quick chat button on it. I was scared about the broken wire picture at first but I figured that person didn't get it directly from amazon or amazon fulfillment. Which is the only way I buy things now. Only thing I don't like is the lack of padding on the top of headset but its actually fine without it!

This headset is horribly uncomfortable and offers no way of reducing lateral pressure. Plus, the sound is very muddy with very little presence to make speech intelligible. It's a little better when I jam rolled-up socks under the headband to remove the earcups from my ears enough so that it doesn't sound like I am listening through a pillowWhile I knew that this headset was not Bose, the quality and performance and ergonomics are all seriously sub-par, even for the price. Unfortunately, I bought two!I'm still shopping.

I've had to wear this headset for meetings at work over the past 6 months. While it sounds fine, the actual headset itself hurts after even a short period of use. I would attribute this to my wider than average head, but my co-workers with much thinner heads feel the same way. I am actually on Amazon at work typing this review because it is so bad that I would not want an employer to make the mistake of purchasing these.Now I'm off to order my own headset to replace this one. Also I broke one of these simply in the act of putting it on my head.

Well......they're cheap and they will get the job done. I gave them 2 stars because of this. That said if you have any type of standards when it comes to audio then move on right now. Music and movies or even games and this headset won't cut it. I've had these for 2 days and its terrible. I am here to find and buy another/better set. These will do as some backups for a short time, but again...if you have any audio standards or expectations then move on to another set.They are nice size for your head though and fit ok.
