I bought this headset because it on sale at the time and it looked to have reasonable quality. Initially it squeezes your ears and can be painful, but after a few uses it is not an issue. The main problem I experienced with this headset is accidentally bumping the lifechat button and being exited out of the video game I was playing. This is not a big deal normally but can be a big problem if you intend you use this headset to play online games. Other than that issue the headset has worked well.

This product does everything I would expect of a headset. The only problem ive found is the padding is a little thin which causes too much presure on the outer ear. This only shows up when you wear them for many hours a day as I do for gamming. Less intense use and you might never notice. All other aspects of this product are top of the line for this price range.

I've been buying and using this headset for the last year or so. My husband and I have gone through about 5 sets so far, and have quit buying them.First and foremost, the big problem we have with this set is that the heavy volume control right in the middle of the wire causes it to short out over a short period of time. There is no clip on it, so you just have to let it swing free or lay it in your lap. With this set, first you hear static, then your mic stops working altogether. Our last order was for 3 of them: 1 for each of us, and a backup. The first one we opened didn't work at all, and was in 3 pieces. So we sent it back for a replacement. The two we used have now gone all but dead within a few months. The backup? Had the same problems as the one we returned. Either that was a horrible batch, or the quality is just down to nothing now.A big thumbs down to this headset nowadays.

It's good, the microphone is very clear. That's really the only thing I was looking for, but, the headset is about a 2/5 on comfort. I can deal with it but it hurts my ears after about 2 hours. It's not tight on my head but the Cups are to small. I plan on getting a new one once I get some more money.

i thought this was a good product but i bought it and when i inserted it into my cpu i am hearing nothing at all so i really dont know what is going on with this i am so disappointed because i thought it would of been a great product.

A very nice product that just does not work for me with application I brought it for. I do use it for everything out side work application though because it turned out to be more comfortable than the logitech brand I had to get to work with my work application. It also has more features.

If you are looking for a good headset, but don't want to pay $100 for one? Get this. The bass on this is amazing. It makes all other headsets I have used look like crap. The quality of the microphone isn't the best, but it is all you need for gaming or live chat. I wouldn't recommend this for music making, but for gaming and live chat and music listing, I would give this my highest praise.

I took this headset in to replace an old, falling-apart set of headphones from KOSS, that costed me under $20. Sound quality is substantially worse than my old analog KOSS set. Enough said.I have no idea what those people, that post "excellent" reviews, were comparing it to. I do not recall hearing sound this bad as in those headphones.

I bought a pair of the headphone back in June but i mad an mistake and stepped on the first one and had to repurchase theses headphones. All i have to say is that these headphones are great and the sound is excellent and i would recommend these to anyone and the price is affordable. These headphones are the best on the market for the price.

It sounds good and it it works well but I find it extremely uncomfortable. it is very tight and sits way to low and there is no way to adjust the height. My ears hurt after just a few minutes of use...

Foremost, this product falls short for having no level mixer for treble and bass. This is standard fare on all audio equipment these days and it's absence is inexcusable**. People's personal taste will decide whether the factory settings sound good or not, but we shouldn't have to settle for factory settings when all of the competitors have level mixers.**USB headsets have their own sound card in the cable dongle. You cannot use your computer's level mixer to adjust these headsets!They feel very durable and are reasonably comfortable. They're pretty tight on the ears, but I think they would "break-in" after some time.I returned mine to the store (luckily didn't buy on amazon). I'm certainly no audiophile and I currently use an $8 headset from Rosewill. But the factory balance on the Lifechat is really horrible. It's too bassy and boomy, and sounds really muffled. The balance ruins music and movies, and makes gaming very difficult (you can't pick out key sounds, like someone sneaking up behind you.)They're pretty much only good for voice chatting...but why settle for just that?

Took it out of it's plastic cell, loaded the ed, started exec, get a message that it is not software compatible. Gave an option to search the net for software which will load it on my windows7 CompaQ. Still would not load.Piece of junk!Good luck if you waste your money on thisOne would think Microsoft based products would be compatibleThumbs Down

Don't get me wrong here I like the headset.They sound and function great, they don't get too hot on the ears, they have bass, the cord is nice and thick (wish it was a little longer)BUT the reason I will never buy another or recommend these is because.I have my stereo plugged in the output on my computer and if I plug my headphones into the USB they don't work. I have to unplug the stereo then replug in the headset or Vice Versa. Because these are USB they act as their own sound driver/card you can't use your stereo and your headphones at the same time. Even if I am using headphones then plug in stereo it won't work unless I disconnect headphones.Its annoying crawling around, I hate having to change out cords behind the computer every time I want to use my speakers.I wish they worked better on the software side, they are a microsoft product you think they'd work well with their new vista software. There should be no problems what so ever with having speaker sand headset plugged in at same time.DONT buy these unless Microsoft puts out a fix or you only use headphones.If you can put up with changing cords all the time its a great deal for the price.

These are great headphones for the price and work well with Messenger and Skype. They are a bit uncomfortable after awhile, so that could be improved, but the overall sound quality and adjustable volume/mute controls are easy to use and reliable.

I didn't even have the headset for a month and the mic is already starting to break down on me. I mainly use it for recording my voice for online classes, so when I listen to what I recorded its starts at the beginning then it stops, then it stars again somewhere in the middle of what I recorded. At first when I got it it was working perfectly fine an i couldn't be happier with it. I was going to wait a month to write my review but it didn't even last that long. That's how far my $30 went with this product. The bass is awesome though.

I bought this product because the speakers and microphone on my laptop stopped working (bad computer, but it gets the job done). I use this headset primarily to skype with family and friends. For that, it's great. I've talked for two hours sometimes and I have no complaints. My ears start to get a little sore, but having anything on your ears for that long will do that. The microphone quality is top notch and the audio quality is great. I even use it just to listen to music sometimes and it's way better than any other set of headphones I own. Over all, I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for an inexpensive way to up the quality of your computer's speakers and microphone.

I', dying of spinal cord degeneration due to radiation responses in Hiroshima during Occupation. I've had IBM's, then compatibles since 1981. We had a divergence in programming ever since; MS believes in overgrowth,inelegance, and bugs. We used to work with 16KB and do fine. MS also has other tactics and this was one -- when I woke up paralyzed in the right-hand, it was, what to do? I could not get the competing hardware/software package since it was incompatible with WIN 7 (as are half my devices and programs), so I was stuck with Win7's not very grand speech recognition program and this set of headphones wit mike. The mike does not isolate sounds. It's all or nothing; tower of babel. So I type a finger at a time using my good hand.

these headphones are very nice... i use them for chatting with my friends around the world, and they work nice even with horrible wifi signal... they have useful buttons to mute, increase or decrease the volume. But one has to be careful because sometimes they click with a small touch.

As a pair of headphones the LifeChat LX-3000 is pretty decent. Good, clear response across all frequencies. Notably, the bass range is beefy without being too muddy. They are comfortable and don't make my head sore after extended use, compared to some other headphones I own. (Your mileage may vary.)The microphone is my favorite component of these headphones. It is responsive and doesn't pick up very much background noise. The windscreen (the foamy thing) eliminates some of the effect of breath sound, and pops and plosives to a certain extent, giving one's voice a more polished sound. You might think of it as a minor feature, and perhaps a little ugly or bulky, but it adds a tremendous value to the headphones in my opinion.In addition to Automated Gain Control (AGC), there seems to be the option in the Sound & Audio Properties control panel of applying effects to the incoming signal. Maybe it has something to do with the sAPO technology in Windows Vista, but I'm using the headphones on Windows XP exclusively at the moment. There aren't any effects included with the installation CD that comes with the LifeChat headphones, but the idea is intriguing. At least I know that since this headset comes from Microsoft, if the technology develops further I'll be able to take advantage of it. It would be good to apply some effects such as a compressor or equalizer to one's voice, even for something as simple as chatting or making calls online, in order to give one's voice more clarity and punch. In any case, that's all a side point to actually reviewing the product.I've tried recording my voice (both speaking and singing) into Audacity (a wave editor) and Ableton Live (a music/audio production package) and the results are favorable. I can see using this for some quick voiceover work or demo vocals if you happen to be a music production enthusiast as I am. Granted, an actual studio quality dynamic or compressor mic in the right environment is ideal, but this headset functions as a good tool to use a "notepad" for my voice.The "remote" with the volume, mute, and livechat controls is definitely handy. Only thing is it weighs down the cord. It's placed about a foot and a half down the cord from the headset itself, which makes it possible to place it on the desk; however if you tend to move around while working at your computer (and I would hope you do) you'll pull it off. I don't imagine it's heavy enough to cause any sort of neck strain or such thing, but the weight is noticeable.Another thing to note is that the headset uses the USB interface exclusively. There are no analog jacks to fall back on. This is a problem since it uses USB bandwidth, which can be a problem if you have many devices hooked up to your computer (and especially if they are hooked up to the same controller by way of a USB hub). I'm not using a hub on this computer currently, and I only have three other devices hooked up. Nevertheless, I ran into a problem with my audio recording interface (a Digidesign Mbox 2) and the headset competing for bandwidth. Windows produced an error message to this effect. The end result is that I can't use the interface and the headphones concurrently; I have to have one or the other plugged in. Granted, this isn't that big of a deal, since I use the headset for "consumer-grade" activities like watching movies and chatting, and use hardware and a microphone plugged in to the recording interface when I am working on a music or audio project. Unfortunately though I can't use the headphones with my recording interface to do quick vocal demos or voiceovers (one of the handy features of a headset I alluded to earlier). Granted, I don't need the recording interface since the headset isn't being run through it, but the latency issues with my onboard sound card makes monitoring my voice while recording untenable.The takeaway from all this is that the LifeChat LX-3000 headset is great for normal recreational use, although I would caution that if you have a lot of USB devices hooked up to your system you may run into some problems, and in that case I'd suggest a headset with analog microphone/audio jacks.
