The price was right, the item looked good, but when I received the item I was disappointed to find that the unit had a USB male end instead of an end that I could use with my phone. A better discription or a picture would have saved me time and money.

I wanted a headset for use with Skype. I have USB ports on the front of my computer but no audio jacks, so I decided to try a USB headset for the first time. The LifeChat LX-3000 has worked perfectly in every regard.I was a little leery about getting this headset because the package talks about Windows Live but nothing about other services like Skype. However, it works perfectly with Skype. I was able to select this headset in the Skype control panel and still keep my regular computer speakers for everything else.I want to point out that you do NOT need the included software. The USB plug for the headset includes a "Install Software First" sticker on it, but I threw the sticker away and just plugged it in. Windows XP recognized the headset and installed the needed drivers without me having to do a thing. The headset shows up in the Audio Devices control panel and it's easy to select whether I want the computer's sound to come out of the headset or my regular speakers (you can also select the headset in Skype independent of the main audio control panel). I'm assuming the included disk includes Windows Live and probably a bunch of other stuff I don't need or want; I'm glad I didn't have to deal with it.Functionally I don't think you could expect more for the price. The padded headphones are really comfortable; I was able to talk to my friend half way around the world for several hours and never gave a thought to the fact I was wearing a headset. The mic seems to pick up well regardless of the position (after some experimentation I figured out that chin level picks up my voice well without picking up my breathing). Because they are USB there's less of a chance of buzzing or other analog noise you might get with a phono-plug headset. Also, the in-line remote is handy to mute your mic if you need to cough or clear your throat.This is a great headset that works perfectly with Skype, and at the price it's an absolute bargain.

The Microsoft-Lifechat-LX3000 Headset , is a very easy and great headset. Less then 30 dollars and the sound on this thing is great,you can higher or lower the- volume. There is also the mute button and the quick call button for use for Skype , there's an install cd for PC Which is fast and 'easy' Also this works for ps3 and xbox360. Usb rocks... i give this a four out of five. Why not five? well i dropped my headset 3 feet and the talking thing almost came off but its held on by the wires but! still works "Perfect" a very strong and reliable headset!!!!!!!! a mustbuy ;]

The sound quality is just fine, but it isn't very comfortable and I don't have a large head! In all fariness,I haven't used it very long, but I was surprised how much my ears hurt after only wearing it for a few minutes. maybe I need to "stretch" it out - we'll see.

I got this for Skype calls--teleconferences. It's an excellent set, good sound quality, comfy, mike works great. Having two ear covers is kind of strange because you can't hear yourself talk as you normally do, but you get used to it, and that's not a defect in the set by any means. If you want a headset that will block out some of the noise around you while you talk and listen, go for this one.

When I first spotted this on Amazon, I thought it was too good to be true and promptly forgot about it for the next three months. Then one day, quite by accident, I came across it again and decided to read some of the reviews. After reading them, i decided to take the leap and ordered it.It arrived within a few days and I immediately installed it to find out if my money was well spent. I have been kicking myself ever since then for not ordering this thing when I first saw it.The playback quality was comparable to several high dollar headsets that I have tested and the microphone has an excellent pickup.If you are reading these reviews, you can go ahead and order it. I promise that you will not be disappointed by this product. 10 out of 10!Update (10-24-2010):Just thought I would pop in here and place a brief update on this.For the record, I am still using the first set of these headphones that I bought and have since ordered two more sets, both of which are working perfectly. This has officially become my family's unanimous choice of headphone.The price tag makes it even more tempting (these retail at a few big name office supply stores for almost $50 a set, so this price is great!).Hope this helps others out there who are tired of forking out big bucks for headphones only to get them home and find out that they are pretty much useless or uncomfortable (these are so comfortable, you almost forget you are wearing them!).

Design-wise, these fit well on my large head and the wire/control box are not irritatingly heavy. The volume control is functional, although unfortunately it's easy to hit the large, centrally placed lifechat (what an absurd name) button, which creates a popup urging you to install microsoft's VoiP software. The first time it minimizes a full screen application like a game or a movie you'll want to break the button.The sound quality is functional. You can't expect a lot of thump in the bass from headsets, especially for thirty bucks, but I'm not an audiophile and am happy with the audio.The bad news is that you are really gambling when you buy these, because they're unreliable and break frequently. All headsets with volume boxes set midway along the cord are prone to breaks in the wires leading out of it, the box getting under a chair wheel somehow, etc, but from my own experience and anecdotal evidence collected by talking to fellow purchasers (as well as a review I happened to notice a page below this one...) this headset appears to be especially prone to breakdowns. Two months after I bought it, my headset started crackling loudly when the volume box was jostled. A day afterward, the microphone stopped working. The audio now functions only intermittently and I expect it stop working completely soon. I turned out two of my co-workers who had bought the same headsets had the same problems. Although the design is there, the manufacturing is not.I would love to recommend these headphones, but the chances your money might go to waste seem too high. Pass on it.EDIT: I forgot to mention the microphone is of excellent quality with clear sound, although the mute button is too easy to hit accidentally.

I bought this headset to be able to my my own home vedio clips as well as convert tons of tapes to CD etc. The sound is very good. The set seems to work very well. Also JR shipped it quickly and their service is good as well. For me, the headset is comfortable as well. I have not had any problems aith the unit and am very satisfied with it.

It was easy to setup the system. It works great and it is well built. I use it on Skype and I had perfect comunication. I highly recomend the unit for any body who is using it for web comunications.

This is a really great product. I am a host of a radio show, "Question Reality" on LA Talk Radio. I usually go into the radio station to do my interviews, but have had to do them remotely from home recently. I got these headphones to do that with the additional use of SKYPE. It has worked really well so far. The sound quality is great and my guest's can hear me with crystal clarity. I highly recommend this product.

I got this to use with Skype and games, and it works great for both. I was amazed at the clarity over Skype, and the sound quality is good enough to listen to music and play games with. The headphones are very comfortable and seal out other noises well. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I'll start off by saying as headphones they are the best pair i have ever owned. i love to listen to music on them. GREAT quality. You can easily tell the difference in bit rate due to the high quality of them. The microphone works perfectly fine as you would expect. The only down side to these is after a couple hours of use my ears get really hot and they start to hurt.

Ordered on Wednesday, and had it by Friday with standard shipping. I love the headset, I am going to Medical Transcription school and I am using Naturally Speaking software. I had a high dollar cordless headset that was making me crazy. This one works great with Naturally Speaking, and it is great for games as well. I also didn't have to install the software, I just plugged it into the USB port and I was ready to go.

Ive had a couple of these $10 radioshack speakers and they broke in a week or 2, and were terribly built, this one is great!sounds great, VERY comfortable, very cheap for the great quality your getting, if i had to state a con it would be that it needed a cd installation that came with it. the mic gave me a bit of pain to get it to work properly, but it works!90/100!

Before buying this headset, I came here and read all the negative reviews, about it being a piece of junk that broke after some days.I disregarded this reviews, as I am very careful handling my objects, and thought that you were handling it badly. Well, I was wrong. After 5 months, handling it with all the care, it simply died, the wire teared apart inside out of nothing, as it naturraly rots with time.Yes, now I agree with you. This really IS a piece of junk.

I bought this to participate in several industry webinars & it has worked well for me. I can't attest to the mic capacities because I haven't used the mic at all; my webinars are muted.

I bought the lifechat lx-3000 headset as a replacement for a old worn out microphone. As a internet dj i need a product that gives me a clean clear sound on air. This headset gives me that and has a crisp sound that rivals my pc speakers 10 fold. I now tell my other djs that are looking for headset mics to go and get this set and will be from now on.

This Product is confortable, sounds clear, and doesn't break too easy.My main prroblem with it is how easy it is to accidently press the buttons. If you accidently press the globe button while moving around in your seat, any full screen application minimizes and brings up windows live messanger.It is also really easy to press the mute button, which is annoying when talking to people.Overall it works great, but the buttons on the control get annoying.PS: For all you Windows 7 RC users, i have had troubles with the compatibility of the volume control with Windows 7.

Right out of the box I've noticed that my lifechat had a muffled sound (ok ! this is a matter of taste) and I decided to not use it much, prefering to hear my mp3s and games alike with my soundblaster speakers. But a few months ago, the leatherette earpads started to peel off showing great signs of wear and tear in spite of the headset not being used that much. I am greatly disapointed with this headset.

I received the headset as a gift because I had mentioned I was in the market for a new one. I have had just about every brand of headset and several models/styles from each brand. Logitech has many price points for their headsets and in my experience all were complete junk, same goes for Plantronics. With both of those brands I had at least two headsets that were duds straight out of the package, twice in a row from Plantronics. Several models of Cyber Acoustics headsets were comfortable but the mics died after minimal use.As yet this headset is comfortable, sounds good and the mic is pretty clear. My only issue (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars) is that the inline controls don't have any sort of clip so it just hangs and I can see how that opens it up to inadvertent abuse that could be causing a lot of the issues other reviewers have mentioned. I'm sure if I look around online or in a couple stores I can find some sort of stick-on clip to remedy this issue. As for the headset being heavy or tight on the head... I just don't see (or feel) it. The headset itself and the inline control are extremely lightweight and the fit is perfect, those having issues with fit are most likely underestimating the true girth of their head.

I've been using this headset for about 6 months now on my home PC. The sound quality of the headset is remarkable, considering the price. To put it in perspective, I've been looking for a pair of headphones for my iPod that rival the sound quality of the lx-3000, and I had to spend about $90.I've also used the headset for voice chat over Ventrillo (playing World of Warcraft). I obviously can't hear myself talk, but my guild mates say they can hear me loud and clear. This is great for me-- previous headsets I've had, I've either had to shout into, or practically eat the mic to be heard. With the lx-3000 I can leave it at the "default" level it sits at, and can talk in a low, normal, indoor voice and be heard.The only drawback of the headset I would mention is the "remote" built in about a foot and a half down the length of the cord from the headset. Maybe it's just how I sit in my chair or my height, but it's at a really inconvenient level for me. The center LiveChat button gets pressed a lot inadvertently, which will cause an "alt-tab"-like function and bring up a Microsoft Voice Call dialog box. Be careful with this if you're gaming-- you could end up dead while you're quickly alt-tabbing back into the game! There may be a way to disable this, but I haven't messed with it too much.I am a big fan of the over-the-ear headphone style, as it really gives you the best sound quality. If you're used to being able to hear the TV or other people talking while gaming or listening to music, be ready for an adjustment. This headset does a good job of blocking out all ambient noise (like it's supposed to do). It's very isolating at first if you're not used to it, but in the end you'll love the immersion.For the price, you really can't go wrong with this headset. The sound quality is unbelievable-- crystal clear trebles and basses, even on very heavy bass/dance tracks. I use mine mostly for music playback, but it functions flawlessly as a microphone headset as well.

I've been using this headset on my Mac for music and talking over iChat. The sound quality is alright - not great, and it's heavy on the low end. People I've spoken to over it say the mic sounds good. Having the volume and mute buttons on the cord is really handy: the mute button cuts the mic, and on the Mac, the volume buttons adjust the system volume, so it's not like a volume slider on some headphones. They cover my ears and block out other noise really well, too.My biggest complaint is the comfort. They really start to smoosh my ears after an hour or so. I'm a programmer, so I spend most of my day listening to music while I write code, and that isn't really an option with these. Also, the cord is pretty short. It's fine if you've got a laptop on your desk, but might not be long enough if you have a tower on the floor.
