These headsets were purchased for a research lab. Within about 6 months, 4 of the 8 headsets broke. For some, the mics stopped working. For others, the earphones. These headsets do not get abused or even used much more often than they would be for personal use. They were cheap, but they still should last longer than a few months.

While in a game (happens across all games I play) if I use the volume adjuster on the cord, it shrinks my game to desktop and displays a blue volume bar. This is extremely annoying, since games like Fallout 3 crash when forced to minimize, and in online games like Bad Company 2 you end up out of the game for a while as you shrink the game, adjust volume, then attempt to remaximize the game. The headphones themselves aren't bad or good, but I bought them to use for gaming, and it just isnt reasonable to have to go into each game's audio options -> master volume options any time I want to make minor adjustments to sound.

This headset is Pretty awesome I have to admit I wasn't expecting the sound quality that they have. I use these all the time for my FPS and my Ventrilo to talk to people, I've had no problems with them at all and when listening to music, games with them they have good base and really good sound. The only problem I have with them is at times they hurt the ears due to them being so tightly clamped around your ears/head.

I've been a faithful Microsoft Hardware client (headphone, keyboard, mouse and webcam) for many years and all of them are great products and still functional after 3+ years. I recently bought this headphone as a gift for a friend because of her PC's broken sound card and she and her kids have been using it daily to chat (Ventrilo) and listen to music (Media Player, Youtube, etc.). No complains from them and no complains from me. Highly recommended.

This is a decent unit electronically and it seems to be built pretty well. The speakers play sounds from my computer and the mic picks up my voice well enough to be understood in chat or gaming environments. Two things must be accepted to get this unit at this price.First, the headset is tight. It is really squeezing your head. This results in a tight fit of the earcups around your ears but the pressure can get annoying (even painful) if you need to wear them for a long time, especially with glasses.Second: The over-sized volume control box was placed 24" from the headset along the length of the usb cable. The cable is too short to begin with, but that box is a constant problem. It's too big and bulky to be left to dangle from your head and too heavy to leave dangling from your USB port; and it snags on everything! Eventually, it will be responsible for ripping the wires from the headset, or worse, destroying your computer's USB Port. If you velcro it to something, you only have about 24" of cable between the box and the headset.It is a really bad design and enough to make me search for a new headset.

I bought this thing on October 5, 2007. Since that time, I've only used it about once a week. About a year ago one of the ear muffs broke off. Now, the mic boom has broken off as well. And I am not rough with my equipment. Microsoft should not license their name to manufacturers who will make such low-quality products. I wish I had spent my money on my favorite brand, Logitech, instead.

I would have given this headset 5 stars except that the instructions tell you how to install it, but leave it at that. Well after installing them, all the sound still continued to come out my desktop speakers instead of the headset. I had to figure out for myself how to change Windows to use the headset instead of the speakers. Then I had to do this every time I would unplug the headset and plug it back in. I figured out that if you set the headset as the default speaker, Windows will automatically switch to the headset every time you plug it in, and revert back to the speakers when you unplug it. Maybe a little comment about this in the instructions would have been nice since I thought they were broken at first.Now that I got them working right, I love them. I only use them while playing World of Warcraft and the sound quality is great, and the mic comes through clearly on the other end while using Ventrilo. It's really easy to bump the mute button and not realize it, but that's really my only gripe.

Basically a decent unit as far as operation & quality. Since it's Micro$oft, windows 7 pics it up with ease & reconfigures apps as needed to use the headset. Major con, at least for me, is the off-on, vol ctrl switch that resides several inches down from the headset on the usb cord. Serious pain in the behind. This thing is bulky and poorly placed on the cord. It gets in the way & places extra weight to the side of the headset the cord is connected to. I finally ended up attaching the thing to the headset with a rubber band. Show stopper!

I have purchased 4 of the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headsets that are used in my church's computer lab. The headsets are easy to install and setup. Each of the Windows XP and 7 computer identified the headset and installed with no issues. The headset is confortable to wear for a few hours. I would recommend this headset to other people.

Unlike many other products, it does the job it says it will do. I am very happy. The best feature is the comfort and that's only because I wear them often. The sound and mic a a close second. I'm not a gamer though so I am unaware on how they preform under those circumstances.The other great thing was the price. Everywhere I looked the cheapest I could find them was $41.00. I got them, new, for under 25.00 at amazon.

The first time I ordered the headset I got a defective pair. I was quite frustrated but the seller was very helpful and the exchange process was very easy. The headset turned out to be great and very comfy.

We bought these for a call center, and what I've found is that some callers absolutely love them while others complain that they are too tight. By paying attention to who is saying what, I have determined that it has to do with the shape and size of the persons head. Those with a wide head are complaining, while those with a long narrow head absolutely love them.My advice: take a look in the mirror before you decide if they are for you.

The mic is great, very clear reception on the other end, and the sound is fine, but they aren't comfortable at all. I have to take my earrings out to even stand them for any amount of time. I didn't return them because I've already gone through a few pairs trying to find the right ones and just don't want to keep buying more. Also, you don't have to install the software, even though it says you need to install it before you can use the headset. I just plugged mine in, set them up in Ventrillo, and it was fine.

I've never used a headset before, but I have used microphones and whatnot. I chat online and the webcam I have, a LifeCam VX-3000, and the microphone on it is the absolute worst. I bought this headset to go with my webcam. Honestly, I mistakenly thought my webcam was an LX-3000 which is why I bought this, but the headset worked flawlessly with my webcam. The headset is very comfy and the microphone is absolutely amazing. I love the sound quality. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone.

These headphones are some of the best computer headphonesI've ever owned. The sound is spectacular. I like musicloud, and I normally have to turn headphones all the wayup to enjoy it. These I have to keep way below half volume.The dual channel (Left/Right) mix is awesome, and the bassis surprisingly robust for a set of headphones.They're comparable (almost) to a $200 pair of Harmon KardonHeadphones that I used to own.The only downside is that getting used to USB is a littledifferent than with the normal sound connections. Games mayact a little funny at first, because the USB device doesn'tinterface with soundcard. So you may have to tweak gamesettings a bit to get it to work properly.At least here on Amazon you can get a high-midrange soundingheadset for a low-range price.Enjoy, and God bless!!

I have been using this headset for a little while now for some of the online games I play. This headset has so far better quality than any other headset I have used in the past. It fits comfortable around my ears and light on my head. The Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000 headset connects only by USB connection but it is easy to use. I would recommend this headset.

Comfortable and sound quality is good too. Mic is what I was looking for and this Microsoft LifeChat has great mic. Sound is clearly heard by other party.

I am helping with an ESL Language Lab using Rosetta Stone. These headsets have worked well with all users. Have not had them very long so I cannot say how durable they are, but they seem very well constructed.

I've been happy with the purchase. My only gripes would be the weird attachment halfway up the cord that gets in the way sometimes and the weird mandatory installation of some MS messenger garbage.

I use this at both work and home. The mic is very sensitive on my work machine. Always test and tweak your audio settings before screencasting. I would buy this headset again if this and my backup pair went down. I'm wondering if Microsoft is going to update this part of their product line.

The sound and speaker are nice.But the sound controller's big (around 1.5 in by 2 in). It yields unnecessary weight to your head and can easily get stuck to your chair when you lift your head.My headset has worked fine for the last month or so, but I had to be watchful for lifting my head too hard and breaking it (when the volume controller gets stuck).Since it's low-priced, and the volume controller's only an aside, I wouldn't really complain, but don't try to convince yourself the product's perfect.
