This printer is not that great. There are many bugs that exist with it and I feel that Epson must do a better job in creating these printers.I bought this printer for its good price and high printing output. However, many times, I send documents to the printer and they say pending but fail to print and I must resend the documents many times before the printer actually prints them. Also, the print quality isn't very good. The actual speed is nothing impressive for the output even for documents printed on economy/draft mode. I sold this to somebody soon after getting this printer because I found it to be horrendous and I haven't been happier since. I bought a Lexmark and boy, my luck has changed.In the future, I will choose Lexmark as I have had wonderful experiences with the quality and speed of the product. (Note: the Lexmark Z series are really great.)

I have read an awful lot of positive reviews about the epson r300 so I believed I was making a 5 star purchase. From day one, I had problems. It seems that a large job (over 1 copy) is impossible when using photo paper. The printer will not feed the paper, the screen reads paper jam when there is none and you must keep resetting. It sounds trivial but is actually quite frustrating. Since I have had the printer, I have made 20-30 copies most being excel documents AND YELLOW INK IS OUT ALREADY! DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CANNOT PRINT ANYTHING EVEN BLACK AND WHITE if one color cartridge is out? In my opinion, multiple cartridges is pointless when one color outage shuts down all opertations. The quality of the prints is Ok but surely not the greatest. When people compare images that I have printed from this printer with those I printed from the free HP pavilion that came with the computer- everyone thinks the HP is crisp, clear and perfect. So I must give Epson a thumbs down. If I had only kept the box, I would have taken this Epson back to the store in a heartbeat.

I had purchase the Epson Photo 900 printer because I really wanted CD/DVD printer capabilities. I also wanted it to do a nice job of photo printing. Several weeks after purchasing the 900, I saw the R300 in action and kind of kicked myself for not doing some extra research before buying the 900. I finally sold the 900 on ebay and purchased the R300. Let me tell you this, every aspect of this printer is simply awesome. I am using this with MacOS X and it is simply flawless. The CD/DVD printing is 10 times better then the 900, the media reader works perfect, the computer-less printing works amazing, design of how you go about printing onto CD/DVD is superior over the 900 or any other product in this price range I have seen. The only exception to this printer would probably be the R300M which has the color preview monitor. BTW, the photo quality output of this printer is literally second to none. I have seen this compared against HP and Canon and it holds well against both!!!If you are looking for an awesome all around printer at only $180, this is definitely the way to go!!!

I had an HP Deskjet 952 that was starting to make noise when loading paper and decided to start looking around for a new printer. I never was satisfied with the blockiness of the blacks on HP photos and I was impressed with the samples that I had seen from the Epson photo printers. I bought this one because of the photo printing and the CD printing. I hate CD labels. I'd rather use a CD pen and write on the CD.Bottom line, this printer has performed well, printed great photos and I didn't see any problem printing text. The CD printing worked well and I love it. The price is low which is a great thing. Technology improves so quickly. We don't need to be investing major bucks in highly replaceable hardward like printers.

When I went to go looking for printers, a Epson representative was there, and told me about all of the wonderful features of this printer, and how the ink economy was rather good. This is pretty far from the truth. This printer has many problems. First of all, it has a bad paper loading design, so often when it is printing; it will grab 2 or 3 sheets at a time. This is the least of its problems. This 'photo quality' printer may have good resolution and all, but it smears ink quite often and good resolution or not, a smear in the ink just ruins a picture. The major problem with this printer however, is that the print heads get clogged VERY OFTEN. Just about every other time you print, you have to have the printer clean it's print heads, which is time consuming, and wastes ink. I have gone through one and a half cartridges of color ink, and one of black, and have only printed around 5 or 6 color images. A few weeks ago, I was trying to have it print a simple text document, and it took about 20 minutes because I had to clean the print heads 3 times in order to get a print without streaks and lines.In conclusion, this printer is poorly designed, it goes through ink at a ridiculous rate, and is very very unreliable. Do yourself a big favor and DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

The printer worked fine at first, printing beautifully. Set up was a breeze. I've had the printer for several months now, however, and I've noticed the print quality slowly decline. I keep regular maintanence on the inkheads, cleaning and aligning them as necessary. I only use Epson ink, I've never refilled or damaged the ink cartridges in any way. I am unsatisfied with this product, and will not purchase another Epson.

When I went to go looking for printers, a Epson representative was there at Best Buy and told me about all of the great features of this printer, and how the ink economy was better than most.As my wife uses this printer a lot it seems to have a lot of issues that are not easy resolved.The printer jams paper a lot and has a hard time loading paper. The 4X6 roll that you can use is practically useless since the paper is all curled after it's printed. Also the printer takes more than one sheet quite frequently. We noticed that it will not print on HP Photo Paper which we were used to and have found to be one of the better papers to print photos on. Another thing we find irritating is it always clogs and we are always having to waste ink by doing the self clean utility. Very bad design. Not only do we waste a lot of ink unclogging it but it doesn't print very many pictures per ink cartridge. I remember having our old HP printer last for about 2 months on one cartridge. We seem to buy a new cartridge every 2 weeks.I would not recommend this printer. HP seems to be better. Or maybe Canon but we haven't tried a Canon yet.

This little guy has one of the highest resolutions available today, and yet you cant beat the price. Setup was a breeze on my Windows XP machine, but make sure you follow the directions (on an easy to follow chart) and dont rush to plug the printer into your computer right away. Win XP will detect the USB device the second you plug it in, so make sure you are ready when you do it.Print quality is very good. We purchased this primarily because we wanted to save some money and print our own wedding invitations, save the date cards and the like. It handled the card stock we used perfectly, and the quality was outstanding.Photos look very nice as well, but make sure you use high quality photo paper to achieve the maximum results.The CD ROM included has all the necessary software for installation, as well as Epson's own Film Factory for photos. If you have Abobe Album, Photoshop or other similar programs, I would recommend you use those instead as they do a little better job than the included Film Factory.My only complaint is that it does not include a USB cable, so that will set up back another $20.00 or so at your local computer store. But overall this is a great printer for the price.

The prints made by this printer really do look like what you'd get from a photo lab, and I dare say better if you know how to use Photoshop or any similar image editing program. What I see out of my monitor is exactly what I get out of the printer, and this is without doing any calibrating whatsoever. This printer has exceeded my expectations, especially when one looks at the $180.00 price tag. I like how it monitors the ink levels by counting each drop that comes out of each cartridge. And each cartridge can be replaced individually. It prints best on Epson premium glossy paper, but Hammermill and HP premium glossies work well too. This printer is a smart buy.

If you don't need the card readers or pictbridge, buy the R200 instead. It has exactly the same print engine and software as the R300 but at half the price! I checked the specs at Epson and they're the same. On the Canon printers you have to go to the i960 to find a six color printer for the same price as the R300 and still not get the card readers on the R300. All of these are excellent printers but I think the Epson dye printers have a slight edge over the Canon in print permanence based on the statistics that I've been comparing.

I am very picky about image quality. So I don't buy anything at first glance. After thorough investigation and looking at reviews here and other sites, it came down to this vs. a comparable Canon and the HP 7760. I went with this because of its size, six separate ink tanks, and its CD printing feature. I use it exclusively for digital pictures from my Olympus digi camera (family pics mostly, nothing fancy) and an older DeskJet for any charts or presentations. I expected simply good quality prints, but this printer has really surpassed my expectations. My prints look like them came from a lab. The local lab will never see my money again. In addition, Epson paper is great and has a good price. The ink tanks are modestly priced as well. For less than $300 you can't go wrong with this printer. Enjoy.

This printer is an excellent value for the money. I managed to get mine as an open-box special for $49, but even at retail I am just amazed at the quality of the photographs this printer produces. It's at least the equal, quality-wise, as my Canon S9000. If all you need is 8 1/2x11 printing I wouldn't even consider anything else.

I was unsure of my decision to buy this printer from a lot of the other reviews I had read (they wern't so good) and I had had a lot of issues with my old 785EPX, but still like Epson's quality above all others. I have used Epson printers for the last 5 years, starting with the 875DCS. The 785EPX worked great for the first year and then went crazy, mostly about the ink cartridges, I would have to clean the heads 5 times before I would get a clear good print. The reason I choose the 925 over the 825 was the new ink cartridges. I decided to give it a try and went ahead and bought it (mostly becuase I needed a new printer and had some mail in rebates for it).I have had the printer for about 2 months now and have not had any problems at all! No issues with paper feeding or ink (in the 785EPX I was having streaking issues), I leave my printer on all day everyday and when I havn't used it in awhile it takes a minute for it to warm up, but otherwise this printer had resorted my faith in Epson! I highly suggest it over the 825 (becuase of the cartridges).

Yes, the output can be great. And, based on extensive fading tests I've conducted, the pigment-based inks last and last (try leaving non-pigment inks on the dashboard of your car in the Florida sun for 6 months). BUT.1 out of 3 prints OR MORE needs re-printing due to clogged nozzles. You can't unclog the print heads if any cartridge is low, but then you can't print what you want with clogged heads - so when ink is low, you have to replace it even if you could otherwise print 2-3 more documents. Re-aligning print heads can take an hour or more. Why can't they do simple straight lines for horizontal print alignment, rather than judging banding on a series of adjacent blocks?Ink is expensive, and the printer sucks it up fast if you print on photo paper. The good news is that the tanks are big, and individual tanks for different colors. Due to my photography, I use up black and magenta twice as fast as the other two (but if cyan or yellow are low, and I know I only need magenta and black, still can't clean the heads - see above).The bottom line? Epson got it wrong. And the real evidence of this is their rush to get out the C82, replacement model for the C80. It's rare for them, but they did. DON'T GET A C80.

I bought this printer in late October so I could boost my home photo printing and to possibly use the print on disk feature. Well, after a few days I was very discouraged to find out that it had an error every single time I tried to print. It would say to check the printer documentation on how to solve the error, but that would never work. I did, however get 20 good quality pictures in about 3 minutes each picture I'd say...that's the only reason why I give it a one star (I would give it 0/5 stars, but you can only give it 1). ...This product may be good for others, but it was not the printer for me. Everyone I've talked to talks so highly about it and says the quality is great, performence and everything, however I just didn't have that experience and therefore I very much dislike it, even if I am 1/1000 that got a defective. I'm trying to provide you people with the experience I had, and I should NOT come across as being vein, arrogant or illogiced....

This printer would be a poor value if it was free. The print quality is good and it does not seem to fade like HP ink. The problems are a poor paper feed that routinely picks up 3 or 4 sheets, an ink system that clogs continuously (requiring head cleaning many times a day), a tendency to smear ink on the pages, and very high ink consumption.

This printer was rated the best of every photo printer in an Office Depot store, by one eventual buyer. He tried them all. The Canon 900 was a distant second. Other than the superb quality of the prints, the amazing thing is that it will take a CD driver, so you can print from your CDs. It will also burn the pics in your camera card to a CD. What talent!I sold a HP Photosmart 7550, when I got this one. The R300 is the basic printer. If you buy the R300M, it includes a plug-in LCD viewer. The viewer is pretty important, in my judgement, for photo printing.

I just bought the printer a few weeks ago. I bought it for the Cd disc printing. They look great. The instructions say you have to use printable cd's only. I was wondering has anyone tried to print a cd label on a regular cd, and if so, how was the outcome? I know they say not to use a un-printable cd, but will it distroy the printer if you do? Will the ink just run off the regular cd surface? I like the printer, photo's look great, but i do feel it is slow at printing the job.

I bought this to replace m old 744. I gotta say that my old 744 was a good photo printer. But man this printer blows it away. I had a lab do a 5x7 for me and then printed the same photo on kodax ultima paper. The printout I feel was better then the lab print. You can't go wrong with epson printers for photos. And if you use pictorico paper in and use the best photo settings you can print 8x10's that are equal or superior to anything you order from a photolab.

I bought this printer to replace my epson 1270 and it was a definite improvement. Extreme quite, even better photo quality, but that's the catch. It can only print RGB files, my CMYK turns out truely horrible. 600 dpi looks like really low res web pics. And yes, I double checked all the trouble shoots. Has anyone else had this problem?

at first i too was impressed with the fast printing of this printer but less than a year after buying it i had to have the whole printer replaced. no matter how many times i cleaned the print heads there were white lines throughout the printing. so it was replaced and now only 5 months later i have the same problem as well as the fact it is rejecting ink. the first two cartridges that this happened with i thought it was the cartridge but 36 dollars later for ink, i figured out the printer is messed up AGAIN. most of the time i've had it, the printer prints fair to poor. you have to clean the print heads all the time and alot of times which wastes money. i never know, no matter how much i clean the print heads, if when i hit print the page is going to be ok or be a mess. i am afraid to use nice paper as i don't want piles of misprinted expensive paper. and i so do not love that because my printer is rejecting color inks i can't even print black and white. the genius engineer who thought that one up should be shot. please stay away from this printer, and in my opinion, epson. this is the 2nd epson printer i have had and the first was a problem too. spare yourself the grief i have had...i am off to take it to repair again since i spent money on the warranty. i suspect kicking it down the stairs would be more productive.

I bought this printer about 18 months ago. When it works, it works great. HOWEVER, changing ink cartridges is a long process because the carrier won't line up where it should. It stays offline & needs to be shut-down & restarted numerous times before the ink cartridge change process can be completed. The printer shuts down when the ink is low & it makes you change all the cartridges when one is low before it will function again. The black ink pooled at the bottom on two occasions. The head & nozzle cleaner utilities are ineffective. The nozzles are always getting clogged even with daily use of the printer. I just spent $71.16 for ink cartridges, replaced them all, & the printer still won't print. I'm taking the cartridges back to the store for a refund & I'm replacing the printer with a Canon. I will never buy Epson again. This Epson printer has cost me way too much time & money.

I am a professional artist. I have had this printer for about a year now. And the images that it prints out are outstanding. I print images ranging from digital photos off my Olympus C4040, to scans from artbooks, to simple B&W text pages. But I should be using my cheapo HP for simple BW text and conserve the heads and ink. I recommend a second cheap printer for simple prints.If I wanted a larger print from an artbook. I would scan a favorite artist's drawing from the book (8"x11") and scale it big in Photoshop and then print it large (13"x18") to put in my frame to hang over my chimney. Drawings hold up better then photos when scaling. Being a digital artist, my printouts from this printer are so professional looking. The results from this printer accents the work that I produce instead of degrading it. I get better print outs at home then in the art dept at my company. Just recently, the company purchased the 1280 model. Thank You!I have recieved many compliments about the photos and artwork on my walls. And the people are shocked when I tell them its from an inkjet printer. They always ask which printer and how do they get one.Only negative thing is the amount of ink it consumes and the cost of replacement. Plus the need to run some utilities to clean the heads because of lines and gaps in the print. But it's not a big deal. This is the best printer for the money.

Great quality, easy to use, great drivers, nice features, no payper jamming (had to study to work with rolls). only one problem, Cleaning heads on generic printing heads may be weekly, but heads so cheap, I wouldn't call it problem, just order pack of heads 3 times cheaper then others
