I have tried the Rhinotek ink after the Epson ink. Both printed fine, but Rhinotek started off messy. My Epson ink disappeared so ridiculously fast (5 weeks), and I was stuck without ink one night, and I shook it then put it back in, and I kid you not it lasted almost 6 months with a lot of printing!!The Rhinotek's about out after 3 months, I am afraid to shake it after the messy start. I know you aren't supposed to, but perhaps the ink manufacterer's WANT the ink to run out........

I have been using this printer for over a year now after replacing my HP.I have printed nothing but awesome photos time after time. I would have given this printer a 5 star except for the price on the hard to find ink cartridges. There are alternatives in generic catridges, but the results are less than perfect. A 5 star rating, however, would go to Epson's customer service. These are very knowledgeable, helpful employees. No, I am not one of them, but I have been treated very well, and in a timely manner on several occasions.

First let me tell you that I purchased the new IMac. Second, i needed a printer that would both print out great photos and work with the IMac. Of course the IMac is my greatest investment ever. Now...This Epson....I turned it on...loaded the color cartridge and WHAM>>>> The printer warmed up fast and printed the best quality pictures ever...and they were dry and not smeared like the HP products would do....Bottom Line....Apple Imac and Epson Thank you for great products that work....And thank you Amazon.com for great products and pricing....

The C-80 prints great photo's. That's about it. Why can't they get it to feed properly?? I had one for a week and it jammed so bad with christmas cards that I took it back and got another, it doesn't feed any better than the first one. Post cards and envelopes are a disaster. The mechanisim that jostles the media in the paper tray actually threw some of my post cards out of the tray, some fed sideways, and other times it fed 4 or 5 cards at a time. Same with envelopes. My christmas card printing secession ended up with me feeding one sheet at a time, otherwise it would feed 3 or 4 sheets at a time regardless of how you set the paper thickness selector. I tried contacting Epson by FAX, (I wouldn't spend the money for a regular long distance) no reply, so I am going to return this one and trade for a HP or Lexmark.

We recently purchased the C80 and found all the good reviews to be true. The speed of the printer is great, and the quality of the print and graphics is great also. We also tried to print some digital photos and they turned out very well. The printer appears to be made very well and to be very user friendly. The only negative thing that I have found is that it is noisy loading paper but the printing is very smooth and quiet. Definitley a good printer. No regrets!

Its my findings that have led me to this review. If you should have the good fortune to get through you warranty period with your product> Then watch out, here is when the printer will cost you. If you have a question regarding your product from EPSON, it will cost you $9.95 a pop for a question. Even if it is only (HOW DO I CHANGE MY INK CARTRIDGE ). Their corporate guidelines mandate that they charge you ten bucks to answer that question. Or any question if your product is out of warranty.For this I wish I had never bought my printer from them. Along with tiresome calibration sequences that the thing goes through every time that you turn the thing on, even if it was earlier the same day. My printer does not seem to user friendly, and I feel hassled every time that I go to use it.

Pluses for this printer includes cheap price, individual color ink wells, and very good plain paper prints. Prints on matte paper is supposed to be very good, but I haven't tried it yet. Prints on glossy print, in my own opinion, is poor. I've compared it to the HP 970c... and the colors simply are not as brilliant, even with adjusted settings. That's a minus 2 stars in my book.

I absolutely love the great pictures this printer will print.Since I owned it I have printed all my photos for contests and exhibits with it and have received recognition and awards. Sure saves a lot of money at the photo lab!The reason I cannot give this printer a 5 is that the plastic clamps which are used to install the color cartriges are very flimsy. The clamp holding down the color cartride has now broken off and I have to use tape to hold the cartridge down and in place. A crude method for such a sophisticated maschine.

This printer is a great value at the price you are paying for it i really believe you get a lot. Fast black printing speed, although i must say i have printed some photos on special paper and print time is SLOW. The paper tray doesnt hold much paper, although the ink lasts a long time your gonna have to buy 3 cartdriges when its time for new ones. This printer is loud not printing but when it is actually feeding the paper into the printer it makes a loud sound which i didnt like. Otherwise fast clean and crisp, easy to install.

If one were to read the rest of my reviews, one would think I worked for Lexmark. I'm not bad-mouthing Lexmark here, I'll continue to use my Z52, but I wanted larger output, so I went with the Epson 1270. Sometimes I have to pat myself on the back for making the right choices, and this is one of those times.I'm very impressed with what I've done with this printer. The results are far more than I would have expected. An associate of mine has one of these, so I created a few prints on his and was so blown away that I went out the next day and bought one. I already have several 11 X 17 and 13 X 19 prints framed and hanging on the walls. Friends who have seen them can't believe this stuff came out of a computer.If you get a 1270, don't experiment with different paper...it doesn't work well at all. Colors are unpredictable at best. One of the big selling points of this printer for me was the Premium Glossy Photo Paper that Epson makes. So far, this is the closest finish to Cibachrome that I've found. If you know your imaging capabilities well enough, you'll get dynamite prints on this paper. They are truly gallery caliber. I do photography professionally, so I'm a harsh critic of my prints. I do have to qualify this though and say honestly that there still is no substitute for a good quality slide processed with the Cibachrome process, but you'll do far better with the 1270 than Ritz camera, or Wal-Mart, or any of the other "processing" labs will do with your enlargements.If you're debating a new printer to print your photographs with, wait no more!

I've had the printer a little over a week and have finally got my portraits skin tones correct. At medium resolution direct from my digital camera this printer performs beautifully. It's still "just" an ink jet but it comes REAL close to professional quality. I love the separate ink wells...

Printer ribbons for the Epson 880 Printer are far from cheap. Luckily with my search on line, Amazon came through with a good price. I saved at least $10 by not buying from (other retailers). Thanks Amazon. By the way, the Epson 880 is a great printer.

Wow, I got this printer yesterday and I'm really impressed. Ihad an old HP 660C printer before. I was really happy with how easyit was to set up, and the ink cartridges drop in real easy andperfectly. Everything feels like really good solid quality. Forregular black text printing this printer is really fast and superquiet. I was really impressed. It prints pictures really nicelike regular photos. Although learning to use the Adobe Photoshopincluded is a bit of a learning curve. And the first couple 4X6photos I tried to print I had the orientation wrong and messed themup. Trying to figure out which way the picture has to be to printtakes some trial and error. I think I got it worked out now.Theonly bad things are: that when you want to print envelopes you have totake out all your paper and feed the envelopes. With the HP you couldfeed paper and envelopes simultaneously. However the old HP I hadreally sucks compared to this thing. Also what does it take to throwin a USB or parallel cable into the box. Luckily I had a spare USBcable, but they should ship the printer with everything you need. Itcomes with ink, why not a cable? Another drawback is the printer ispretty large and takes up a good amount of space. But all thesethings are pretty minor, the printer really is awesome.

My first one lasted 10 months and my warranty replacement lasted 3 months, just long enough to put it over the one year mark and EPSON does not vary from its 1 year warranty regardless of the fact the second machine is only 3 months old. Would not suggest buying this product. It definitely has injet head problems.Very poor customer support for problems, such as I experienced. My company have made a new policy, no more EPSONS.

I tried shopping around locally for Epson printers and was told, that Hewlett Packard was the "only way to go," and that I would be "extremely disappointed in the 1440 x 720 resolution."Hogwash. My Epson 1270 gives me amazing photo-quality prints. I couldn't be happier with it. The ink cartridges seem to last a reasonable amount of time, and really aren't that expensive.As everyone has mentioned, you've got to use Epson paper to get the best results, but why wouldn't you? It's relatively inexpensive and gives magnificent results!Well worth the money... and it's even been marked down from what I paid!

I've been very happily surprised by the quality of the printing with my new Epson Stylus 880. The ink cartridges have lasted a fair amount of time, and while I wish I got more than the 3 months worth of time, I have to be satisified with that. (Occassional use for the girl's school reports, personal finances and some "take-home" from work.) The only thing against it is the ...price. That seems to be the trend in ink jet printers now, but it is hard to pay over ...for a few ounces of ink. That said, you don't have a lot of choice if you want to retain top-quality printing, so it is a price that I will (grudgingly) pay.

I have made hundreds of 13 x 19 in. photo prints on this machine. The best results are with mat paper or treated water color paper. You may only get 10 or so prints per ink cartridge.

I am a professional artist with 30 years under my belt, and I have been using the 1270 to make reproductions of airbrush originals. The combination of inkset and matte paper produces a result that looks just like the original, and matches any fine arts lithograph I have ever seen. Couple that with the ability to manipulate my own images electronically, and all the hassels with photo labs, service bureaus and middlemen is a thing of the past. A little expensive to run? Not compared to the cost of taking it all somewhere else. This thing works.

This printer is great! After reading reviews on this and others, I decided the take the plunge. The output is fantastic (especially on glossies). Though the ink seems to go rather quickly, I'm very happy with this printer and the output it produces (especially my 11x17 posters (maybe that's why the ink runs out so quickly))! (And when I called tech support, they answered within 2 or 3 minutes).

I recently purchased the Epson Stylus 1270 and an Olympus c3030 camera. The results I am getting from both are nothing less than staggering! Although my HP970 produces fine photos with impressive color and resolution, the Epson 1270 improves the overall quality measurably. The colors produced by the 1270 are richer and brighter. I also intend to use the Epson recommended heavy matte papers to assure long-life photos. It is unfortunate that digital photos printed with inkjets will fade with time, however, Espon has increased that time substantially.

We like this printer, but were not aware it did not come with any cable. If you don't have a cable make sure you buy one on Amazon too, because we made a mistake and bought "Belkin 15FT IEEE 1284" at CompUSA for 3 times the price here. Setup was easy.

The quality of prints from this printer is absolutely amazing. However, when using the Premium Glossy paper, I and many other people on e-mail lists have experienced an orange shift in as little as 24 hours. You must read Epson's advertising very carefully - it says that prints are "lightfast." What they fail to say is that the prints will beging to fade and shift color due to certain gasses (specifically ozone). If you use the Heavyweight Matte paper, the prints seem to be fine, especially if you keep everything under glass, but who can do that for every print?

I just received the Epson 1270 and the quality of the photo prints are fantastic. I am using a Nikon 990 with a HP printer and was getting only fair prints. You cannot believe the difference with the two printers, I only regret taking so long to purchase the Epson. If you are considering the purchase, don't wait!!

As a professional photographer, I've been very impressed with this line of Epson Printers (sister to the 870 and 875DC). The quality of printing is outstanding. The prints rival what I've done on my Fuji 3000 or Kodak LED printers. With longevity of 9-10 years for Epson's glossy and 24-26 years with the specail Heavy-Weight Matte (the Matte paper is somewhat like cardstock), it's an outstanding choice for non-critical printing like proofs or promotionals pieces. And to top that off, it prints everything else a printer is used for.It was very easy to setup and get printing on and the best thing of all is that the color has been very true to the file we send it. Overall, this printer is simply amazing.
