Великолепно

I always remember a professional photographer telling me that anybody who is not a professional photographer should always invest in buying a good camera. The reason being, a professional photographer could use almost any camera to take a good picture; the non-professional needs the help of the camera. After reviewing the pics taken by a friend and complimenting her on her skill she referred me to the Canon Powershot SX260. Of course I googled the reviews and immediately bought it as a birthday gift for my daughter who travels a lot and was always complaining about her "messed-up" pics. She LOVES her Canon Powershot SX260!

With the 20X zoom, was a worthy replacement to my smaller and light version of the Canon small camera. The only problem was getting use to the flash popping up when needed, since I place my left index finger on the camera at that point. Had the flash been fixed/built into the front of the camera, would have given five stars.

I have been using a larger Canon 7D for years and have sworn by Canon ever since. This camera was a present for my wife. It has the newer Digic 5 (my 7D has dual 4's) and seems to do a pretty darn good job! The SX260 HS has a built in GPS and I'd recommend turning the logger function off if you don't want to drain your battery. If left on, the camera will continue to keep a track of your location even though the camera itself is 'off.' When the tracker is off, the GPS will continue to set the EXIF data in your pictures with the current GPS location & time. The logger just keeps track of where you have been which may be useful if you are kayaking, hiking, biking etc. It can also tag people's faces that it recognizes. I have not found this to work very well but I may just need to add people's faces more often. One thing I have realized is it may be useful to have people smiling when you are adding to its recognition database since that is the way they look (hopefully) when you are taking their picture.03/25/2013 Update: One neat feature I neglected to mention was this camera can be set to update its internal clock whenever it can get a GPS lock. This feature is especially useful after a daylight savings time change and you change all the clocks in the house but forget to set your camera's clock This camera does a pretty fair job in low light situations. One thing to be careful of is how you hold the camera as the flash will pop up (as needed) right where your left index finger usually goes while steadying the camera. The 20X optical Zoom is awesome especially for a small point and shoot that fits in your pocket! It's nice to have this reach without having to swap lenses when you need to get a quick shot!

This purchase was an exact replacement camera for the one my wife broke after dropping it eight times on vacation. The dropped camera still works, takes nice sharp pictures but the touch screen doesn't work very well. It is a great camera, takes nice pictures, and my wife likes its compact size and amazing zoom range.

I bought this after seeing a friend use hers to take some great pics. it has an amazingly long and clear zoom, is pretty quick in low light conditions, and is fast to process and shut down. I really LOVE this camera!

If you want a beautiful picture of the moon using a small hand-held camera, this camera is for you. It takes nice photos but have not mastered all it can do yet so some pictures are not as great as they probably would be otherwise. It is great as a point and shoot. It takes wonderful close up photos. I do not find the flower setting works well, works better as point and shoot. I have trouble with moving object (sports) but it takes great shots when the car is moving of landscapes. I have taken awesome photos of birds in trees -- things that are not close. It does well of animals too. I love the camera, just wish I'd get around to reading the book!!

Fantastic camera. Took it on our mission trip- the 80 digital zoom pics came out pretty good with expected grain. Basically it is a Fully functional DSL in a point and shoot package. It did nearly everything I wanted it to do. Will post sample when I get time

I would definitely recommend this camera having used it since last spring when I bought it. I love the long zoom for nature and sports photography. Close up shots turn out great, too. The colors are true to life. The auto mode is useful for most of the shots I take and it is very easy to use. I also like the mode where it takes multiple shots every second because this is great for sports photography. I bought an extra battery so I can swap out the exhausted one for a fresh one while I am out taking pictures.

This camera takes great pictures. I have no complaint in that department. She is really slow on focus and sequence shots, forget it. The zoom is great, I use it at times just to read something at a great distance.One big Con....the pop-up flash. I knew better, it almost got me several times, but this once, and once is enough, I didn't take the time to put the strap on my wrist to snap a picture in Bergen Norway in broad day, the flash popped up, next thing I knew it was out of my hand. I tried to catch it, but it tumbled on the cobble stones. Nicked here and there but here's the damage, a third of the viewer now is useless. believe it or not, as far as I know, that is only damage, enough to make me sick, and my purchase price more or less down the drain. Panasonic was really my first choice, price steered me to the Canon. Did I ever make a mistake.

Bought the camera in anticipation of the birth of our new grandson. The camera and the baby both arrived on time and in good working condition. Thus far, neither the camera nor the baby have disappointed. Excellent, versatile camera with more features than I've had the opportunity to explore. The quality of the still pics and videos have been routinely excellent. The zoom is very powerful. Dim light imaging hasn't proven to be much of a problem. The ergonomics of the camera seem fine for me. The new mom and dad are in the process of acquainting themselves with the ergonomics of their newborn.

Great all around camera with nice features that produce great photos. The 20x zoom is outstanding and provide very good pictures from long distances. The only down side is the flash position, it pops up where most people hold the camera, but I've gotten use to it and I’ve changed the way I hold the camera. Love this camera. Great zoom and great pictures. Had an older Canon powershot that broke so decided on this one after reading reviews. Still figuring out how everything works on it but love it so far. Only thing I did not like was that it did not come with a user manual booklet. It comes with a cd of the user manual. However, I like the booklet so I am not left staring at a computer screen while trying to figure the camera out. But I called Canon and they are printing one out and mailing it to me. So problem solved. Great Camera!!!

I purchased this camera to replace another Canon camera that I had been using in my Home Inspection Business for the last 5 years. I have been very impressed with this camera from the first Inspection I took it on. The camera is very easy to use, takes highquality shots almost every time (the camera is only as good as its operator). I have found the camera easy to use, easy to swap batteries in, (I would recommend a spare),and overall a very well put together piece of equipment.

I am not a pro photographer and I bought this camera so I could travel lighter than lugging around my DSLR. The zoom is really impressive -- I can easily see farther than the naked eye and make out details that I would normally be unable to.The camera focuses quickly which is important in a point and shoot. It is a little heavy, but the heft helps keep the camera steady like a DSLR and it makes it just feel more solid.The only gripe would be the battery life, but that is a trade-off with the screen size like most high powered smart phones. Not that it would run out of battery if you were to charge it regularly, but 3-4 days of shooting as you would with other point and shoot cameras of old is very unlikely if not impossible (depending on screen brightness and time-of-review settings).

I was so excited to get this camera after reading all of the glowing reviews but sorely disappointed after trying it out. I know how to use a camera so I tried everything to fix the issue but 90% of the photos were blurred in some manner. Even with the stability on or in sport mode you still had to be perfectly still and the subjects perfectly still not to have blur. Way too much effort involved to get a halfway decent picture with this camera. Maybe I got a bad apple but so thankful I could return it and go with something else!

Researched cameras extensive before selecting this make and model as a gift to my wife who has several non-digital slr cameras with some expensive lenses for a variety of shooting needs and conditions. This camera is always available and readily at hand and is a lot less expensive as far as the costs of ending up with a finished print. She still has her other cameras for extensive photography sessions or planned projects but this one gives her unlimited opportunities for that "perfect photo if only I had my camera with me situations".

I love this small but functional camera especially as its priced to be easy to afford. I finally have the perfect 'fill in' camera between my Canon EOS Rebel T3i and my cell phone camera. Living in Alaska there is always something worth taking a picture of and the cell camera just doesn't have the optics or range of settings while the Rebel is a bit bulky to carry everywhere I go. The PowerShot SX260 is a great way to fill this gap! I have yet to try the video but then I largely purchased the unit to handle still images...

I had purchased a Canon A560 digital camera about 18 months ago. It took beautiful photos that printed out like art work on my Canon Pixma. For vacations, photos taken around the house, portraits, action shots in the yard...it was perfect. But, it lacked one highly needed feature for our family. It could not take quality photos at a distance, particularly indoors in artificial light. We attend gymnasium events and auditorium events to watch the kids in action. All the photos taken in "zoom" would be blurry or totally out of focus or so grainy they were useless.I spoke to Canon tech support and they explained that one major reason was due to the camera having digital zoom rather than optical zoom. I had my doubts, but because these are such important photos for us to have I bought the Canon PowerShot SX260 HS. WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The guy at tech support has given us a gift that we will treasure for many years...photos...memories...fun. The optical zoom removes all the problems we had. You can still get minor blurring at the most distant zoom setting, but they are useable even at that point. Taking photos in a auditorium of a children's concert from 50 feet away proved no problem at all. Super sharp pictures!Great camera for a moderate price.

Great little camera and takes great picture. My old Fiji would take great picture one time and blurred the next. With this one nearly a perfect picture every time (of course fast moving one will sometimes come out blurred).

I LOVE the detail the photos give you of words at museum exhibits, outdoor signs, etc. The colors don't show up as brightly as an older Canon model I used to use, unfortunately. But the reason this gets 2 stars from me is because it lasted only a little over a year, claiming it needed a different battery, but no matter which battery I put in, and how well charged they were, it kept shutting itself off after I zoomed in during a video, or after I took several photos. In the end, it no longer would come on.

This camera produces very good pictures considering this kind of camera. My sister had gotten one and I was impressed at the quality of pictures and ease of use. So I replaced the Nikon CoolPix I had gotten for my wife with this one because the Nikon was a clear under performer in every respect and my most disappointing camera purchase by far. My wife loves it because it is simple, just plain functions well for a typical point-and-shoot person and there is no arguing with the output. Don't see how anyone could really be disappointed with this one.

Goes through batteries quick!! You must have a back-up battery, in my opinion. I have had this camera for about 6 months and the reviews I read about short battery life are true. It is a little slower between shots that n other Canon POS's - I was able to speed that up somewhat by purchasing a much faster SD card that the stock card that comes with it. It has a GPS function, which adds to the intense battery usage, which I don't use BTW.Overall a very nice camera in need of a few refinements.Pros; The pictures are very clear.The zoom features are awesome.Very compactEasy to use on automatic or very customizable with a myriad of settings.Cons; Heavy battery userSlow to "boot up"

Love this camera. I have a Canon 60D that is just too big to carry everywhere, but the SX260 will fit in a shirt or jacket pocket. It takes incredible pictures and is loaded with features. A great point and shoot camera.

I like the product. Especially, the videos are excellent. But I have some concerns:1- The pictures I took when the people or things are moving are blurry. (If you know how to fix this please let me know. IS didn't work)2- Battery life didn't match with my expectations. You should buy an extra battery. One more thing for the battery is that it's not rechargeable via computer.At the end, I would recommend this if you don't have a lot of money.

This camera is probably a very nice camera but it has so many functions and things that it does that you have to be a bit of an expert to figure it out. I have used it numerous times and it does great at adjusting to whatever scene you are shooting but I always have a really hard time figuring out how to get it back to Auto Shoot mode if I stray from what I know. The view finder is large and the camera is very sturdy and pretty for a point and shoot.

Great p&s camera with almost full manual control. That's good and bad. Full control is good, but doing it on a little camera like this is a bit awkward. I leave it in AV mode unless I'm shooting for speed. Lens stability is good (25-500mm equiv), but even with IS I get shake at over 350mm (about 60mm in camera). Having said that, when you want to grab a l-o-n-g shot it's just a compromise you have to live with. Photo quality is still pretty good. My only quibble is it's too big for a pocket and too small for a case. Kind of an awkward size. Still worth 5 stars if you want a small, do-everything camera.

I bought the Canon 2 months ago after contemplating for several months, mainly due to expecting a price drop. Knowing what I know now I should have picked it up upon initial release. Here's why:My previous 2 point and click were Nikon Coolpix, specifically the S8100. After damaging it in January, I needed a replacement and targeted the SX260. The Canon delivers superior images to the S8100, even at less image size.Pros:'Crisp photos in numerous levels of lighting'Zoom shots rarely if ever have blurs, even with figure in motionCons:'Slight delay after taking a shot'Record feature could be more intuitive'Flash off/on feature takes time to understand'Still pricey but best in the price range regardless

....for the prize. great zoom, ok with low light, nice size. HATE the placement of the flash though. Completely counter intuitive. But I don't use flash hardly ever, and really just wanted this camera as an addition to my Nikon 1V1, to have a tiny back-up camera that I can do some experimental stuff with, hand the kids, take to the beach and don't have to worry too much about. Works for me

At first, I was impressed with the camera because of all that it had to offer: the zoom, well mostly the zoom. My husband and I have had many digital cameras since they have been out in the market and Canon has made some good ones, and some not so good. What I didn't like about the camera is how the overall sharpness and crispness of the picture was not there. In certain lighting, details get washed out. Colors are not bad, but what good is true color if the details are not there? Yes, in some pictures it was perfect, but you have to mess around with various controls to get the ideal picture. The choices of modes were redundant: easy mode? really? When there is auto and live mode? That takes away the credibility of Canon because between you and me, that seems flat out dumb!The pop up flash is in a very bad position because it may startle you at any time and you could lose your grip on the camera.With 12 MP, the overall size of the pictures were not very big and zooming in on them once in the computer, you see many artifacts.I am returning this camera and getting the Olympus SZ-15 which has an even better Megapixel count (16) and longer zoom (24).I have had Olympus cameras before and their build as well as their picture quality have been excellent. Then again, it depends on the camera you opt for.

Got as a Christmas gift for someone. Did not inspect it until I saw it a couple of months later. The lens has to pieces of white lint in between the lens cover and the actual lens. These are producing light/fuzzy spots on the pictures. I sent it into canon repair. Instead of addressing the issue they said the camera had been dropped and that was the problem. I will not bore you with pictures but needless to say this minor dent in the case was well away from the lens and was not the issue. But no more than an excuse not to fix the camera. I will not buy a canon again and it is sad when companies fail to show integrity and honesty in making repair evaluations such as this. Very sad.An addendum to this review. I posted this same complaint on the Canon web site board and they refused to publish it. I will be using another brand of camera from now on. Then can't even own up to their decisions and report them. They just deny they exist. They lost me as a customer.

I was excited to receive this camera.I charged the battery, powered up the camera and it had a continuous running of the power and would not turn off. Unfortunately had to return the camera because it was obviously broken from the provider.The shpping was very slow. I ordered it with sufficient time to use for an event, didn't arrive so had a another event later which I was excited to use it for and it came the day before and it was broken!!The order sat for over 5 days without any action. I had placed another order 5 days later and they arrived in the same box. Why was it held for so long before sending. This is the second time I have placed an Amazon order and had terrible delivery times. Makes me want to start looking for someplace to make my purchases. Over 10 days for delivery of an item is unacceptable.

Holy crap this is a good camera. I have a dSLR Nikon D5000 I routinely use. While the Nikon can take great pictures and has the ability to change lenses, etc. I would almost always rather take pictures with this camera or take it on trips. The image stabilization is fantastic. Really awesome pictures, really easy to point and shoot. Slight oversaturation on colors like many Canons (but that probably makes pictures more appealing anyway). We'll definitely always buy and keep a camera from this series of powershots.

This is a great compact camera with a better than average telephoto lens. It takes great pictures and is easy to use but also has a lot settings for people who want to get creative. I found that it handled low light situations very well and all on the automatic setting. I did find that there were times in a sunny area that it was difficult to see the screen and that a few times the pictures would be a little crooked. I think it is because of holding the camera too far away from my body. It is easier to keep the pictures level if you hold the camera with your elbows tucked into your body. Fortunately there are programs that will level the pictures and then crop them so that they are perfect.

I love this camera. It takes great photos. The zoom is fantastic and I can zoom in on a fly on a deers nose 300 yards away. It's easy to use, easy hookup to my computer. I just take out the SD card and slide it into my laptop, voila...photos. I, at one time, wanted a smaller camera but I have yet to find a camera will all the features and zoom this one has. I highly recommend this.
