Great zippy portable camera -- I take this camera with me every where instead of my SLR -- Photos and HD video are crisp, vibrant and sharp. Ease of use, 20x optical and stabilizer are fantastic. Dial is easy to see and use with one finger - However, the flash seems to be a bit awkward and interferes with my finger. I have yet to try the GPS. Overall, great camera for the money!

I have purchased two of these SX260 because I like the 20x optical lens and picture quality and have had good experiences with previous Canon cameras. In both cases, after a few months of use, the lcd display goes intermittently dark. Although this does not affect the picture as such, it makes it very difficult to focus and zoom. At a local repair shop the technician said this is caused by a bad charge-coupled device(CCD)and the screen would have to be replaced (part unavailable here in Bolivia). Apparently this a common problem. I am hoping Best Buy will honor the warranty on my next trip to the USA.

To be fair, I just got this camera today, so I haven't had a lot of time with it. However, my initial impression is not great and I'm thinking of returning it and going with the Panasonic Lumix ZS20.My issues with this camera aren't different from what others have noted, but I'll reiterate them here:It really is quite slow when recording the image - almost as slow as my phone.I find it heavy to hold, made worse by the awkward way you have to hold it because of the pop up flash.I found it difficult to figure out how to set things - that may not be the case for other Canon owners; I've had Sonys in the past, so that might the issue.I'll test it out more over the next few days and revise my review if necessary.

Love this camera. Really really really great clear crisp pictures. It has an 80x zoom and those pictures and great too. I used it at to take photos of Kenny Chesney on stage at the Houston Rodeo from the top level - and it looks like you are 10 feet away - still a good clear picture. I take tons of photos now. It has a live mode so I was able to use it during my daughters high school drill team performance without having to have the flash and could zoom in on her alone. Definitely more than worth the price.

Easy to use and figure out how to do this N that. The manual is awful...tiny, almost impossible to read print, but the Canon customer service rep sent a full manual in PDF (not on their website!)....still small print, but by a series of copy & paste into a Word doc, using print screen function of the computer, was able to reproduce into something readable. Attention CANON...get a grip on minimum customer service and improve your manuals.So, at present, the only thing I can fault it with is the lack of a manual in readable print size.

It was made in Japan. Very long zoom works well. Great movie options with HD. Rechargeable battery lasts long. Nice color.

I got this camera for a trip to Washington, DC. The pictures are beautiful! It has a great zoom. It fits in my purse. I also have taken it to Russia and Ireland. I have recommended it to several friends who have raved about their purchase. The picture quality is excellent.

I always buy Cannon cameras because of the quality photos they take!! The zoom on this one is amazing!! It's amazing how clear things are while so far away.

got this camera and it works great plus the view finder is perfect it is very clear and this camera has a lot of feature that I love like face recognition the wi fi is amazing the gps work well also would recommend this camera for anyone

This camera does everything I want a camera to do....and more. It takes beautiful photos. It's easy to use. It has an unbelievable 20x optical zoom but it still fits in my pocket when not in use. I used it on a recent 3 month cruise and it was terrific. The 20 zoom is something I'm still getting accustomed to using -- find I need to locate what I want to see first and then zoom to it because it's so enlarged. I recommend buying an extra battery as it goes through them fairly quickly if you take any videos. I wish Canon hadn't given up on the view finder but really, otherwise, perfect.

I love this camera. It is very easy to use and my photos turn out great! I still have not used it to its full capacity, the auto settings are fantastic! The zoom is phenomenal! I take several bird shots which are usually tricky to shoot... not with this camera!

Compact camera that takes fantastic photos and movies. Easy to operate and is compact enough to be handy on long hiking and camping trips. I would recommend this camera to a friend.

I purchased this camera on January, and it takes pretty nice photos.... I liked it a lot. It was stolen one month ago, so I purchased another one, and it is right on its way to home now.

Just got the camera (for myself) over the holidays so plan to take it out and test what it really can do. I wanted a light camera and while this is not the lightest of those now on the market, it can be placed in a pocket with no difficulty. I had read that it took good pictures in low light situations, without a flash, my preference, and it does. It also takes great closeups with good details. The button and dials are fairly simple to see and use, and review of the previous shot easy to pull up. I was not thrilled that the battery has to be placed on a charger since I am afraid that the charger wlll get misplaced or won't be available when I need it. I'll just have to train myself to check the battery status before I go on a photo jaunt. It has a major zoom range but I find I hardly ever use it for long distances. Again, have to take a test run.

I bought this camera thinking on cost benefit and quality that it could give me. I thought it would not be so good, but as I was looking for something good and reasonably priced, I decided to buy it. The fact is that I was surprised with the machine, simply the best I've had so far, if we talk in size and segment (point and shoot). I strongly recommend this machine.Pros: The battery life is excellent, takes sharp pictures with vivid colors and no ghosting.Cons: so far, no.

I'm so upset and disappointed with this camera I'll make it quick - PIECE OF JUNK. The camera is SSSSSSSSLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. It is slow to take pics, slow to warm up the flash, slow in terms of shutter speed (fastest aperture is F3.5). Every single pic I've tried to take of my puppy has come out awful - blurred, dark, crap (this is outside at 1pm in the California sun without a cloud in the sky). Generally, even without the flash, it takes about 2-3 seconds from the time you click the shutter release to the time the picture is taken. That's in direct sunlight. If there's low light, forget it. My experience with the flash was inside in darker conditions.. Oh, and be prepared (as others warned) - the flash will pop up without warning RIGHT where you hold the camera. Your finger will then block the flash and you will have to reboot the camera. Again, losing any chance of a good candid photo at a party, etc.. I'm just not sure why this piece of garbage is $300. I have used Nikon, Sony and Olympus point and shoot's (as well as Nikon DSLRs) and I will say this - I will NEVER, EVER buy a Canon product again. My Sony (now 6 years old) takes MUCH better pics at 6 megapixels than this Canon junk does at 12.1!!! As many others mentioned, the battery life is also pathetic.AVOID THIS CAMERA AT ALL COSTS.

So far, this camera is everything we hoped it would be. If we could take the time to learn all the bells and whistles, we'd probably like it even more!

I purchased this camera for my daughter for Christmas since her old Canon wasn't always working properly. She takes some amazing photos of my grandkids - so I didn't want that to stop! She opened the box on Christmas day (I had charged the battery) and started shooting with the automatic settings and took some fantastic photos. I use a Nikon and I'm a fan of both Canon and Nikon - although other brands do a good job too. You will find reveiws on here that give you all the nitty gritty - far beyond my ability to provide. So let me just say this.... If you are looking for a very good, solid "point and shoot" camera with the ability to "tweek" settings, I believe this camera should be considered as one of your top options at this price.

While i am an DSLR photographer, this Canon compliments our equipment for those days when those heavy SLR's are just not appropriate. However, the SX260 pictures are outstanding. The video is easy to use with great resolution. Outstanding pictures!!! Fits easily in your pocket or clipped to your belt loop with the TBC-302 FFP Compact Camera Case.

I've ordered new camera, what arrived appeared to be a "demo' unit. Camera is a good shape, but not effeminately not new.

I got this camera because I needed a small camera to use at work. The zoom works very well and I've been able to capture really good photos of natural scenes such as evening sky shots, snow scenes, geese on a pond etc. It's easy to use and the controls (iso, exposure, shutter speed) are easy to set up and change as needed. This camera definitely doesn't take photos with the same clarity and overall quality as the Canon S 95, which I also have. It also cannot shoot in RAW mode...BUT it's a lot easier to use than the S 95 and is the camera I use every day at work and which I carry with me in my purse.

Great camera for price- desired and important features like WIDE ANGLE (for great group, indoor rooms, and landscape shots), long zoom, multiple shooting modes, and 3" screeen. Only negatives: a bit heavy (but solid) for its size, comared to the pricier subcompact Canon I had stolen, and the flash pops up where your finger tends to hold the camera.
